Mussels that were not throughly cleaned with grinding stuff as you eat it.
    Eyal D.

Subpar at best. Great location by the marina, decent service, coastal feel ambiance, but food was just not tasty at all. The mussels were not properly cleaned, contributing to gritty items in the dish. The pizza looked like a frozen pizza. The only shining star was the San Francisco sourdough which took forever to arrive. Otherwise, the food was subpar at best. Beyond disappointing for sure that we skipped any desserts. Subpar indeed.

Food was amazing! Greg gave really good service and was so nice and helpful to my family. He explained everything on the menu and recommended great things for dinner as it was our first time. Thanks Greg! The place is clean and nice by the beach. Fried

Started out disappointing since it took so long to get seated Found something floating in my glass of water ... no apology! Lychee martini did put me in a better mood along with the pleasant surroundings Their happy hour menu was quite impressive since it included so much and great prices too The meatballs and sauce was exceptional. Fresh crustini too Solid calamari and good spicy tuna on crispy rice. Their specialty Peruvian soup was a real flop. Lacked flavor or anything distinctive The sunset was a nice end Valet parking available in lot but there is street parking too

Went here for brunch with my family. They have a lot of great gluten free options and a great brunch menu. I got the avocado toast, really enjoyed that they had burrata on it. Service was pretty good. Would definitely go back.

We came for their shade (happy) hour, which is from 3-6pm daily. We tried a bunch of different appetizers, all $10. We got the spicy tuna on crispy rice which was delicious for its price point! It came with four pieces and was well flavored We also got the Italian meatballs. It came with three giant meatballs, and a piece of grilled sourdough bread meat was very tender and well seasoned. We also tried the crispy calamari which came with a pretty good amount to share and this interesting chili aïoli. Lychee martini, which is also $10 and it was not too sweet and not too strong. I really enjoyed the elder flower liquor. The service was quite slow. We had to wait a long time for our food to come. What time are the restaurant was pretty full

Came here for dinner with friends and had such a great time! We sat outside for the views, and when it started getting cold, the staff was super attentive and brought over a heater for us right away. The food and service were both amazing. Their menu is pretty big, but our server was really helpful, answered all our questions, and checked in often to make sure we were good. We ordered the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice, the Chopped Salad with Smoked Salmon, and the Honey Heat Pizza -- everything was so good. There's a ton of variety, so it's easy for everyone to find something they like. Definitely coming back to try more of the menu!

Enjoyed a fine meal at their outdoor patio. My family and I brought our 2 small dogs with us for a lunch while the weather was warm and breezy. We did not have reservations (which is recommended if you have pups so they can be sure to have a table for you!), but the host was able to find us a seat within minutes. I assume the reservation helps if you wanted a table facing the marina, which was not a big deal for us anyways. Once we were sat, we were able to enjoy the singing from the live artist and enjoy the breeze in the shade. I noticed it did take a while for our server to arrive, but that would be only meh observation! The food was tasty and plentiful once they came out. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and the server recommended the blackened vs the fried version. Definitely recommend the blackened mahi mahi if you're about the flavor, like I am! Side note for the raw bar, they do have what is available per the season. I was expecting to devour a plate of oysters while I was browsing their Yelp, but they had fresh scallops instead. Honestly, no complaints because the scallops were delicious and soothed the oyster craving I had. Finally, they were able to provide a water bowl for my pups. No dog menu and could not see what I could order that could be dog friendly. Not the end of the world, of course. More as an fyi for the puppy parents out there!

Coastal Chic Dining & Drinks at Sea Level If you're looking for one of the best waterfront vibes in Redondo Beach, Sea Level at the Shade Hotel is a spot to try! I stopped by recently, and the entire experience was exactly what you'd want for a quintessential South Bay afternoon. I went with the Blackened Mahi Tacos, and they did not disappoint. The fish was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick, complemented by a fresh, crunchy slaw and a delicious crema. It's exactly the kind of light, flavorful meal you want when you're sitting right on the water. The outdoor seating here is the real star. You're perched right above the marina, which makes it an incredible spot for a date or a relaxed lunch. Even when the ocean breeze picks up, they have the fire pits and heaters going to keep things cozy. It feels upscale but still has that effortless, beachy elegance. The service was attentive, and the view is unbeatable. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this is a great place to go if you want to feel like you're on vacation for an hour or two.

What a great ambience for Father's Day! The seafood was fresh and flavorful. The live music added a special touch for Father's Day, and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Make sure you try the shrimp cocktail and crab cakes! Delicious

visited sea level for HH, which they call shade hour. daily from 3-6pm, $10 bites and drinks. made rez via opentable they are pet friendly. we got a huge table in their patio overlooking the marina. service was wonderful. ordered: Crispy Calamari Crispy Chicken Bites Shrimp Cocktail Beer Battered Fish & Chips (not HH) the bites were all really good. the fish and chips not so much. def needed some seasoning..tasted really bland. IMO. parking: sea level is located in the shade hotel and parking is avail, valet or metered street parking.

The views here are just simply amazing. It's right by the docks! You can also see seals swimming in the water which also made it calming. I was a little turned off by the host when I arrived as I came from a distance away. I let him know that my party had reservations and I might be a little early. He looked at me and said I was REALLY early and didn't have a table ready. He didn't offer me to stay at the bar or to have a seat inside. Instead, I had to ask if I could sit outside to wait for my party. Please keep in mind the place was dead. Literally nobody inside and maybe a couple of people by the patio. Fries and clam chowder was good, waiter could have also been better. Our party had to keep asking for refills instead of them automatically filling our cups or asking if we wanted refills.

I tried the Sea Level Restaurant and Lounge for a Christmas lunch and I personally left with mixed feelings. First I'd like to say that the staff here is super nice and friendly and really care about their patrons. The ambiance for a Christmas lunch was also very nice! Instead of the ground floor dining area, we were sat in a decorated banquets hall. The decorations were very nice and it made you feel like you were more at a reception than a restaurant. However, the food was just okay to me. Steak Frites: The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sauce on top had a strong flavor that paired well with the tender meat. This was served with a side salad and fries. Overall the meat was good but everything else was a normal salad and fries. Lobster Mac and Cheese: For its price point, I felt like there should have been more lobster in this dish. There were only a few solid piece in the whole dish. The macaroni and cheese itself were perfectly cheesy, but lacked some flavor. When it came to their menu, they had a prix fixe menu for Christmas and an al a cartel menu that you could order off of. While both menus contained desserts, you could only order deserts off the holiday menu, which was a little disappointing to me because the desserts in the al a carte menu sounded better. Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake: This cheesecake was good, but again there was nothing special to it. The cheesecake had a good texture, but the pumpkin and spice flavor was very minute. The whipped cream that it was topped with added nothing in my opinion. Spiced Apple Crisp: This was by far a let down in my opinion. The tart felt like it was left out and stale. There were also a lot of strong flavors that did not complement each other well. The tart had a creme on it that had a strong lemon flavor, but felt like butter on your tongue. The apples on top added a nice touch, but for it being the supposed main ingredient, the dish could have used more of an apple flavor. The ice cream it came with was a good addition, making the overall dish bearable. Overall I would give the Sea Level Restaurant and Lounge 2.5/5 stars, but the staff service bumped it up to a 3 star. While I went on a holiday, it would be nice to experience a normal dining session, even though nobody ordered the holiday menu and stuck to the al a carte menu. For its price, I would have expected more from each dish.

    Cheers

Germano was our server this time. He was spectacular! He was very warm, friendly and on point. Very respectful. The food was good. We ordered a Cobb salad, drinks and our daughter ordered crispy rice tuna. The place is so clean. We always choose to sit in the patio. Cesar the valet attendant is super amazing. He is a sweetheart. Everything about this place is great. There is only valet parking. Prices are comparable. Happy hour prices are great. Wish they had something else aside from an Espresso. martini for vodka choices We will continue to come back

Look I would've given this place 3 stars, but the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Hear me out, this is my experience from last Saturday. So first it can be challenging to find this place, since the pier has so many level to it. Look for the elevators. When you get there, for the first time, you see a main line, well for what? Then you see other lines, well for what? Then you see an oyster line, oh. In order to determine what each line is for, you have to do independent research. From whom? Well the employee, who do not show case any form of customer service. There were so many people lost and confused. To break it down, each "Order Here" has their own area of what can be ordered by the pound and/or cooked. So not all lines are equal. There is a crab line, seafood boil/pre-seasoned seafood, oyster, clams, I think I saw fish and fried platters, which was the longest. So after much deliberation, an employee managed to wrangle the customers to form a line. Although his mannerism seems like I'm just done with this place. One might consider ropes to further avoid these mundane confusions... I got Ana's seafood boil mix, $99. It came with a lobster, dungeoness crab, peeled shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes. The employee told me about 10 mins. I'm like okaaaay, only 10? I walked to their souvenir shop, nothing crazy or must haves. Just cheap Chinese things with their name printed on. I return in 10 minutes. The guy doing prepping/expediting the pick order was in a frantic state. Older white male, white mustache. He was running around, mixing orders up, couldn't even tell what customers had what. The employee that wrangling folks came to help him collect himself. So 10 minutes wait turns to 15, 20, then 30 minutes. I had 2 other employees check up on my order, they said it's not ready. Okay. Finally about 35 minutes it's ready. He didn't even call out my order, I had to wave my ticket. The first rule of speed of service, never over sell the time. If it's gonnabe 30 mins plus, say 40 mins, gimme a bs reason, short handed, etc, I don't care! But why would you tell me it'll be 10 mins?! So finally got the food. Flavor was pretty good. Lobster, was okay. I wished the shrimp had the head on. Clams were big. Sausage was good. Potato seemed like the diced ones from a can, they were so small. The crab, however, is the driest. Yep, for a place that exclaims "Quality Seafood," it was kind've of a let down. They taste like the bottom batch of the crab at Las Vegas buffet. You know the batch that sits on the bottom, they don't ever rotate because the employees don't care. So it's just marinating in its own dry filth. The crab was so dry I could put that in an Advil bottle instead of cotton. So now if you ask me, would I come back? Maybe, just maybe. Anytime soon? Nah, not right now. Also with the mention of a tourist trap, it's no different than Seattle's Pike Place and surroundings.

The steak is or was, mediocre. This is a seafood restaurant and specialty. If you come here, I'd say don't do the surf and turf (steak) but opt for more seafood. The shrimp grilled in the shell is lackluster because the shrimp often sticks into the shell and dry out, harder to eat and less delicious, in my opinion. All of the fishes that are grilled are great and the best options.
