Indoor/outdoor restaurant located inside the shade hotel on the Redondo Beach pier. It was a beautiful August Sunday afternoon so we opted to sit outside. It was a little bit chilly, even though it was 72°. The restaurant did have blankets. It was live music, which was a very nice. The views of the harbor and ocean were amazing. They do offer bottomless mimosas. They have a variety of cocktails and even nonalcoholic cocktails. For my meal, I have the poke cable which was delicious. They offer lunch items as well as traditional breakfast items. Overall, we had a great time and the weight staff was very nice. read more

I made a reservation on OpenTable for 4 to celebrate my daughters eighteenth birthday, around 3:30pm the place was very nice, people in the inside seating area were saying happy birthday to my daughter as we walked passed t I am extremely disappointed with my experience and feel that this restaurant nearly ruined a special birthday celebration due to a fee that was never disclosed in advance. When I made the reservation, I clearly stated that it was for a birthday lunch and that we would be bringing a small 5-inch round birthday cake. At no point during the reservation process was I informed of any cake-cutting fee, nor was it disclosed anywhere that I saw when booking. After being seated and reviewing the menu, our waitress approached the table and said, "Just so you know, we charge a $30 cake-cutting fee." I politely explained that we would not need anyone to cut or serve the cake, so the fee would not be necessary. She then informed me that it was restaurant policy and said she would have the manager explain it. The manager came to the table and doubled down on the charge. He explained that they used to charge per slice but that "it started getting a little crazy," so they now charge a flat $30 fee. He even tried to justify it by saying it was a better deal because their desserts cost around $50 each. I explained that this was not a deal at all and that I had never heard of such a fee being imposed simply for bringing a small birthday cake. More importantly, I told him I was completely unaware of it because it had never been disclosed during the reservation process. I made it clear that had I known about this additional charge beforehand, I would not have chosen to book this restaurant. The manager compared it to a corkage fee. I responded that corkage fees are a widely known and standard practice, whereas charging $30 for a small birthday cake is not something most customers would reasonably expect, especially when it is not communicated in advance. As a result, we chose to leave rather than begin a birthday celebration feeling blindsided by hidden fees. Fortunately, we went to The Cheesecake Factory right up the street, where we received excellent service, enjoyed great food, and were not charged a fee for bringing a birthday cake. I want others to be aware of this policy because it was not disclosed upfront and could result in unexpected charges. While they may have every right to have such a policy, customers should be informed before making a reservation, particularly when the restaurant has been told in advance that the occasion is a birthday celebration. Thankfully, they did not ruin her birthday lunch, but they certainly put an unnecessary damper on what should have been a happy and memorable occasion. read more

My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary at Sea Level Restaurant & Lounge, and it was everything we hoped for and more. From the incredible waterfront views to the amazing food and outstanding service, it made for the perfect date night. We started with the clam chowder and crab cakes, which were both fantastic. For our entrées, we had the Linguini Del Mar and the Petite Filet (added a side of peppercorn sauce), and every single bite was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The highlight of the evening, though, was our server, Greg. He made us feel completely at home from the moment we sat down. His recommendations were spot on, he was attentive without ever being intrusive, and when my girlfriend got a little chilly on the patio, he even brought her a blanket without us having to ask. It's those thoughtful little touches that truly elevate an experience. As the sun began setting over the marina, Alison Brecht performed live acoustic music that created the most romantic atmosphere. She even took a couple requests, including mine and my girlfriend's favorite songs. Sitting outside by the fire table, enjoying an incredible meal while listening to live music and watching the boats in the harbor, felt like something out of a movie. It was the perfect backdrop for celebrating our anniversary. Sea Level exceeded every expectation we had. Between the outstanding food, exceptional service from Greg, beautiful waterfront views, and Alison Brecht's wonderful performance, this was one of the most memorable date nights we've had. We are here about two weeks ago for happy hour finally made it back for brunch. Nikki had to have more of the chicken empanadas that she loved. I got the eggs with the short rib, hash with hollandaise sauce. Hands-down, one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Service was excellent sitting on the marina is always a beautiful view. Celebrated my birthday brunch here with my boyfriend and our kids. The day was a bit chilly but we wanted to sit outside for the view of the Marina. The host was very accommodating and immediately turned on the warmers for us which made it a perfect balance while sitting outside. There was live music which gave a nice brunch feel. We all enjoyed our food. We ordered a cinnamon roll (not pictured, the kids dug right into before a photo). In my opinion I was not consistent with the others that were brought out to other tables. Enjoyed a fine meal at their outdoor patio. My family and I brought our 2 small dogs with us for a lunch while the weather was warm and breezy. We did not have reservations (which is recommended if you have pups so they can be sure to have a table for you!), but the host was able to find us a seat within minutes. I assume the reservation helps if you wanted a table facing the marina, which was not a big deal for us anyways. Once we were sat, we were able to enjoy the singing from the live artist and enjoy the breeze in the shade. I noticed it did take a while for our server to arrive, but that would be only meh observation! The food was tasty and plentiful once they came out. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and the server recommended the blackened vs the fried version. Definitely recommend the blackened mahi mahi if you're about the flavor, like I am! Side note for the raw bar, they do have what is available per the season. I was expecting to devour a plate of oysters while I was browsing their Yelp, but they had fresh scallops instead. Honestly, no complaints because the scallops were delicious and soothed the oyster craving I had. Finally, they were able to provide a water bowl for my pups. So when our daughter wanted to bring friends down for Father's Day on Friday, we thought it was the perfect place good prices beautiful view of the marina and a really good place to spend a Friday happy hour. But, they decided to do an N run because the hotel had a lot of guests so what they did without telling anyone especially me was happy hour on Friday was not a happy hour. It was a holiday..... what? So 150 or so dollar happy hour became $500. I felt like I was really taken. I would understand holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and real holidays but the Friday before Father's Day because you have a full hotel and you can just make a boatload of money is wrong. You will never ever see me again. Oh, if you're wondering about the food that they charged us the astronomical fee for it was guac and chips, chicken nuggets, and a couple of other things that were completely forgettable. read more

I was a little turned off by the host when I arrived as I came from a distance away. I let him know that my party had reservations and I might be a little early. He looked at me and said I was REALLY early and didn't have a table ready. He didn't offer me to stay at the bar or to have a seat inside. Instead, I had to ask if I could sit outside to wait for my party. Please keep in mind the place was dead. Literally nobody inside and maybe a couple of people by the patio. The biggest selling point of this restaurant is definitely the location and the view it offers, with food and service that matches it perfectly. We had a really attentive server that cared about our needs. The front hosts was really nice and let us choose the best seating that suited us. I tried the Sea Level Restaurant and Lounge for a Christmas lunch and I personally left with mixed feelings. First I'd like to say that the staff here is super nice and friendly and really care about their patrons. The ambiance for a Christmas lunch was also very nice! Instead of the ground floor dining area, we were sat in a decorated banquets hall. The decorations were very nice and it made you feel like you were more at a reception than a restaurant. However, the food was just okay to me. Steak Frites: The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sauce on top had a strong flavor that paired well with the tender meat. This was served with a side salad and fries. Overall the meat was good but everything else was a normal salad and fries. Lobster Mac and Cheese: For its price point, I felt like there should have been more lobster in this dish. There were only a few solid piece in the whole dish. The macaroni and cheese itself were perfectly cheesy, but lacked some flavor. When it came to their menu, they had a prix fixe menu for Christmas and an al a cartel menu that you could order off of. While both menus contained desserts, you could only order deserts off the holiday menu, which was a little disappointing to me because the desserts in the al a carte menu sounded better. Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake: This cheesecake was good, but again there was nothing special to it. The cheesecake had a good texture, but the pumpkin and spice flavor was very minute. The whipped cream that it was topped with added nothing in my opinion. Spiced Apple Crisp: This was by far a let down in my opinion. The tart felt like it was left out and stale. There were also a lot of strong flavors that did not complement each other well. The tart had a creme on it that had a strong lemon flavor, but felt like butter on your tongue. The apples on top added a nice touch, but for it being the supposed main ingredient, the dish could have used more of an apple flavor. The ice cream it came with was a good addition, making the overall dish bearable. Overall I would give the Sea Level Restaurant and Lounge 2.5/5 stars, but the staff service bumped it up to a 3 star. While I went on a holiday, it would be nice to experience a normal dining session, even though nobody ordered the holiday menu and stuck to the al a carte menu. For its price, I would have expected more from each dish. read more

My family, a party of five came for a Father's Day brunch. It's a really nice spot located right on the marina and a short walk to the Strand. We were seated right away. The service was very slow. After about fifteen minutes a very pleasant server came and took or drink orders. We waited another ten plus minutes for our drinks and then another long wait before she took our food order. We started with appetizers of mussels and Ahi Tuna on crispy rice. The mussels were excellent the tuna was fair. I had the spicy chicken sandwich. It was in no way spicy. I was just at Shade for their rooftop pool to hang with my wife and friends. Fun times. They have cabanas you can reserve with a low minimum - which is a no brainer if you have two people and plan to spend at least t two hours at the pool. One suggestion waiting staff should remember what's on the menu and how it's cooked so they don't have to go back and forth without any solutions. Me and the wife came here for the Dine LA experience. 1st the Menu for the Dine LA event has plenty of options and all of the portions are regular size meaning they were huge. The restaurant sits right next to the Marina with all the wonderful views and smells of the ocean. The restaurant is small and intimate but has plenty of seating outside with plenty of heaters. The food was so good we had the grilled chicken Cobb salad, lobster Mac, steak and frites, and the chocolate lava cake for dessert. The steak was cooked to perfection and was tender and flavorful no need for any sauce. The chicken on the Cobb salad was delicious and the salad was fresh and really big. The service was great even though the place was packed and really busy. My wife had a lychee martini that was delicious and had a pretty presentation. This place will be one of our new spots for sure and we were told that the happy hour is every day with most items priced at 10 bucks for a place like this you can't beat that deal. We celebrated my birthday month at the AQUA Night rooftop lounge and reserved a VIP table -- and the entire experience was amazing from start to finish. They have the Aqua nights event only during summertime and been wanting to go for sometime now. Finally, WE did! From the moment I made the reservation with Miah, everything was seamless. She was incredibly accommodating and made sure all of my requests were taken care of. The night was even more special thanks to a surprise from my cousin, who brought a birthday cake.
