First time visitor but will be back! Ordered carryout for my husband, 10-month old, and I.... Online process was easy and food was ready right on time! It seems as though some of the menu items are seasonal as I could not find everything I had previously seen reviewed when I was deciding what to order. We had pepperoni pizza, a calzone, and two cannolis. The pepperoni pizza was thin wood-burned crust to perfection.... My daughter devoured it! I loved the additional of the peppers. Greeted at the door by the hostess and the co-owner. Low noise level so easy to have conversation. Ordered the roasted Brussels, out of this world! The serving size filled a giant bowl. Had cheese bites (cheese curds) and, again, got a ton of them. Not oily and served with two sauces. On to main courses, sea bass, crispy tuna, and short rib ziti (massive portion). Can I just say "crazy delicious "? Goodness! Ordered a couple pizzas from the 1000 degree wood-fired oven to take to NYE party, and they were super. After hearing so much about Sorella, I'm sad to say that my experience wasn't all that. Came here on my birthday with my parents. I really wanted a good plate of pasta so I was excited for the vodka sauce pasta (I love vodka sauce). The pasta was not memorable. The only thing I do remember from that dish is that the peas were very undercooked and almost crunchy. The other pasta was the ziti with onions and slow cooked meat. This one was good, but the "sauce" was basically like the au jus that comes with slow cooked meat. It was very thin, so it did not cover the pasta well. If there had been a thicker sauce to compliment the pasta, this dish would've been better. The potatoes were burnt and the pork chop was not flavorful. No sauce, just some cherry peppers on the side. The best part of the meal was the Nutella calzone we had for dessert. The ambiance was very nice and the service was good. read more

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice Italian dinner out one night and opted to try Sorella. We made reservations online, which made the whole process seamless. We were able to eat outside on their patio, which had great ambiance. It was a bit dark toward the end of our meal, but would do it again. The service was great. Our server was neither overbearing nor absent and the food came out quickly. We started out with the calamari appetizer (absolutely to die for!) and a beet salad. Both were much larger servings than I anticipated. My husband tried the Amatriciana pizza, which was not my favorite, but that's more personal preference than not made well. I had the fusilli with Monday sauce and was absolutely in heaven. The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce is flavorful and cozy, and the dollop of ricotta elevates it just a touch further. I could eat it literally every night and not get sick of it! I never eat my leftovers, but was thrilled to eat it the next day as well. We finished up our meal with the blueberry limoncello tiramisu, which was light and refreshing but not overpowered with the limoncello flavor, and a shot of their homemade limoncello. I've been wanting to try Sorella for some time, and glad we finally did. This is a great date night spot. A friend had talked me in to getting the kale caesar... we all know how we feel about kale... haha... but it hit the spot (I think they have pickled celery in it). Ask for a little extra dressing and some black pepper... perfection! Everything was delightful... especially the chicken piccata meatballs. It's just well made Italian food! The kitchen really has their sh*t together... they crank that food out! But we didn't feel rushed. My favorite was Stephanie though, our server. She was knowledgeable about the wine offerings, made great suggestions, and enhanced our entire experience. We can't wait to come back! read more

Came here with my husband and another couple to try something new and catch up. The space is really bright and open, but also attainable and comfortable. We dined inside, but there was some outdoor space that looked lovely as well. Since there were four of us, we ordered a variety of apps, pizza and a couple pastas. I've been here a few times and each visit I'm even more impressed! Everything they have is so fresh and their flavors are absolutely delicious. My most recent visit was this past weekend with my parents in town - my dad is notoriously hard to impress (and keto) so I had very high hopes for this place! We ate at one of the outdoor tables which was absolutely lovely, and our waiter was so attentive. We started with the pork belly and Italian long hot pepper and the flavors were amazing - the mix of heat with rich and sweet was so tasty. For the entree, I had the swordfish and talked my mom into getting the veal dish. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and so flavorful, but my mom's veal really stole the show! It was wrapped in bacon and filled with tomatoes and eggplant - I'm pretty sure I'll dream about this for a while. To cap off our meal, we had the tiramisu panna cotta - easily the best panna cotta I've ever had. There was a chocolate top layer, espresso flavored panna cotta, and a rum soaked cookie at the bottom - my dad even had an extra bite. I've been a few other times - as takeout as well as with a group of friends and this most recent time has been my favorite. If you're looking for a delicious modern Italian meal, Sorella is a can't miss. read more

Had a meal here last year, and recalled the pizza and pasta delicious...and was looking forward to going back. Sadly, today's meal was a huge disappointment. The cauliflower appetizer was generously sized, and reasonably tasty in a sweet-sour sauce. The Amatriciana pizza, which we had before, was almost inedible. The guanciale was cooked into a sauce, rendering the pizza greasy. The peppers were not spicy......the crust soggy. We both ate a piece, and then left the rest. The shrimp,scampi with pasta was flavorless, the pasta watery and overcooked. The server was nice, though never asked why we didn't eat the food. Can't say for sure, but she looked a bit embarrassed? We went to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we had the most incredible time! We ordered the chopped salad (which they easily made dairy free to accommodate my dairy allergy), a delicious pork chop and the pepperoni pizza without cheese. Add a glass of organic orange wine and it was dinner perfection! But the crowning glory was dessert -- our absolutely lovely server, Zoe, wanted to give us a free dairy-free birthday dessert, and told the super inventive head chef Kyle, who quickly whipped us up incredible mini doughnuts with powered sugar and lemon slices! On a recent trip to Milwaukee on a dreaded Monday night when so many restaurants are closed, my husband and I ended up at Sorella. It was our first time here. Seating was fine. My husband noticed a lot of dust and cobwebs in corners and fixtures. the staff was very friendly and attentive. The four of us found something we thought we'd like on the limited menu. The food came out quickly. Mine was the spaghetti and it was delicious. My daughter chose the chicken parmigiana and was disappointed with the amount of cartilage in the breast. She said the taste was good, however. My son and husband enjoyed their meals (cavatelli). Hi, This is Dominic the food reviewer. Yesterday I tried Sorella, which is an Italian restaurant. It is located at 2535 S. Kinnickinnic Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207. Our waitress Madi told us the restaurant opened in August of last year. It used to be a school house back in the day way before the restaurant officially opened. Both owners Kyle and Paul are from New Jersey. Paul was the general manager at Glass and Griddle which is in Downtown Milwaukee. Kyle used to be the executive chef at Wolf Peach. I got to meet the owner Kyle and get a picture with him and Madi. They were both awesome to talk to. The ambiance is a mix between historic and modern. They have original brick on the walls that cover the walls which makes look very historical I think. When you walk inside, they have awesome modern lights, and an open kitchen where you can see your pizza being made or cooked. They also have a beautiful bar area inside. Outside they have a great covered patio with a fire pit that you can sit at and enjoy wine or any cocktail with some wonderful Italian dishes. Up above the restaurant they have guesthouses that any visitors out of town can stay in over night. It is called the Kinn Guest House. Madi told all of us they have eight total rooms up there that anybody can stay in. I thought Madi was so helpful and very funny. She was such a spectacular waitress to my dad, grandma and myself. Madi told us all their sauce is made in house right in the kitchen everyday. The Cavatelli and gnocchi pasta is handmade. Their most popular dish is the Cavatelli with Monday sauce, which is what I tried for dinner. For dinner 1. My Grandma tried the Margherita pizza which is cooked in a wood fire oven right towards the back of the kitchen. She loved her pizza. 2. I tried the Cavatelli with Monday sauce which had Broken Meatball, Sausage, and Pork Raghu with Ricotta Cheese. 3. Dad had the Spaghetti w/ Marinara sauce. He said it was very fresh tasting and he loved the sauce. For our appetizer, we tried their Arancini Carbonara which are Rice Balls with Pancettam Pecorinom egg, peas and Black pepper. For dessert we tried their homemade Cherry Cannoli. My dad said it was the best canoli he's ever had, even better than the ones he tried in Little Italy in New York. I thought my Cavetelli dish was very creamy tasting and I thought the noodles were a lot thicker which I absolutely enjoyed. I would highly recommend trying this place everyone. It's beautiful inside, and everyone was nice. The food was all spectacular. read more

Went in on a Monday after work and the place was pretty busy for a Monday. We got the Brussel sprouts to share, which were delicious and a large serving. I ordered the spaghetti with GF pasta and it tasted like a kids menu item. It was just pasta and a marinara sauce that had no flavor. My date had the cavatelli with Monday sauce and said he thought it was just ok. I'm not writing this place off as we did enjoy the ambiance and had great service. Sorella is a lovely restaurant! So glad that we tried it. First, I recommend making reservations; but when we arrived they happened to have a table ready so we were seated immediately. The food has layers of flavor that scream 'crafted by expertise'! We all enjoyed our food. I especially enjoyed the asparagus, artichokes and pepperoni pizza. Lastly, this was the best cocktail that I've had in a long time. It was a strawberry cocktail. We were staying at the boutique hotel above the restaurant and the owner recommended the food. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and there wasn't one thing that could have been better. We shared the porter house. It was by far the best steak we have ever had. Bread was amazing. Broccoli with apricots. Everything was soooo good. On a recent Saturday evening we made the trip to Bayview for the chance to dine at Sorella. I enjoyed the ambience - light, bright, interesting art (there was one piece I'd like for my own home). We started with salads: the pizzeria chop for my husband and the roasted beet salad for me. I love beets and this salad was delicious, even if I thought there were actually a few too many beets. Normally I'm looking for more of the featured ingredient but Sorella does not skimp here. From there we ordered pasta dishes: cavatelli for my husband and the rigatoni alla vodka for me. My husband enjoyed his pasta; as someone who is insistent that the only sauce is a red sauce, he was happy with his choice. As for me, I loved the rigatoni - would it have been rude for me to lick the bowl? This was how I like my tomato sauce...light, slightly creamy. Just delicious. We were both quite full so opted not to have dessert but I am wishing we had made a little room for the flourless chocolate cake. The table next to us had it and it looked fabulous. Sorella is a new restaurant in Bay View that is a must visit! They have great Thursday night happy hour deals, including $15 off bottles of wine and 1/2 off beers. We went for a date night and it was the perfect cozy Christmas spot. The tables are spaced out so we felt safe. I got the eggplant pizza which was delicious! They have a wood fire pizza oven so the pizzas are very authentic. The pastas are supposed to be very good too; I've heard great things about their monday sauce. Another Review. Table of 6. The first one I wrote magically disapeared this week along with a few other disapointing reviews from July of 2023... 1/3+ of the mussels were not open. Sent them back as they were still shut. No one from the service staff noticed. Food was disapointing. Two of the group had scallops, one person had the beet salad. No one left feeling like the service or food was worth the cost. Wine was small pours for $15-$18 dollar glasses of $30 retail bottle wines. Previous 4 visits were great.
