Admittedly, the Mendham/Far Hills/Bernardsville pizza scene is kind of weak. Some places are ok, some are awful, but none are really stellar. One of the better ones is Sorrento's in Mendham. The Sicilian is a typical thick-crust pie, good sauce and quality cheese, even though they missed a spot on this one . The Pizza Fina (thin crust) isn't thin like Star or Pete and Elda's or any of the other places that have bar pies, but it is thinner than their regular cheese pie. Folks are nice, which is always a plus. read more

Edited review - after a rough first experience, I gave this place another shot and I'm glad I did. The customer service has really improved and the pizza is still delicious. -------- If I could write a review of just that Penne Ala Vodka pizza, this would be a whole lot easier. 5 stars easy. I'm not usually a fan of pasta on pizza either - too dry. But this was just perfect. Unfortunately the experience did not consist solely of eating the pizza. I needed to pick up the pizza, and that is where the trouble started. The first thing the owner said when I said I was picking up my GrubHub order was "you paid the wrong price." Of course, I have no control of the prices reflected on GrubHub, but he didn't seem to agree and he was pretty angry about it. Two important notes: (1) this is new ownership at a neighborhood place (not a good start) and (2) we were talking about $1.50 on an ~$30 order. In other food news, the chicken piccata had an excellent sauce, but was way too small of a portion for the price. The side Caesar salad which my wife was excited for ended up as a garden salad. I don't know what all the negative reviews were about... They had a lot of pizzas to choose from: white, Sicilian, pepperoni etc... This place has been here forever too (though I believe it has changed ownership a couple times). The pizza was good, straight, standard New York style. Meets the benchmark. read more

I ordered through Doordash the "FRESH MOZZARELLA WITH ARUGULA SUB With house-made roasted peppers" (copied directly from their website) and was given a sub with chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo. I called Sorrento's and was told they were sorry and would send their delivery driver out with the correct sandwich. They then called me back 15 minutes later and said the sandwich I ordered "comes with chicken" and they were unable to provide me with a refund or a new sandwich. It wasn't even close to the correct sandwich. read more

I ordered from Sorrento's for the first time through DoorDash, although they did not use a Dasher, but their own delivery person. They're located 11 minutes away via care and I am sorry to say that delivery was horribly slow. I ordered a Grandma's Pizza with extra cheese and a salad. The salad was nice, but the pizza without extra cheese and because it was cold, we heated it up in the oven and it still didn't make the grade of "pizza snob." read more

Quarantine take out order was wrong. Chicken parm instead of eggplant. Called & they made eggplant gratis but too hungry to wait so ate chicken, which was 2 large flat pcs overcooked on top of each other with mediocre tomato sauce & plain mozz melted over just top one. Nothing on one underneath. Ample portion of pasta done nicely. Other dinner was penne w/broccoli & chic. Broccoli was frozen small pcs and chicken was grilled breast, sliced & placed on top. Side order of broc rabe was tiny for price & over garliced. Even salad that came with parm dish had creamy dressing already on top - with sauce dishes, should be vinaigrette and served on side. Had eggplant next day & again poor - only sauce & mozz melted over top piece - rest was dry. They have steep competition in Mendham with 4 other Italian rest. serving great food with loyal fans. Been living here 30 yrs & never had such a poor Italian meal. Better step up their game- we will NEVER go back. read more

Everything you want in a good pizza experience and more! A lot has changed at Sorrento's - and for the better! They have remodeled the inside... fresh paint, new seating design, counter with stools. Very pleasant to eat there now. They are adding new pizza selections regularly. Delicious! Also try their eggplant! Best around. read more

Food might have gotten 2 stars but the dishonesty forced the lowest possible review. I was handed a menu and told a price price for toppings. When the total came up I questioned it. I was told "We raised our prices but we're waiting for new menus." To me that is fraud, you charge what you say you will. You want to charge more you update the register and the menu at the same time. Both items I ordered were more expensive expected but I was in a hurry and didn't want to find a new place. The bathroom made gas station bathrooms look fabulous and when the food came out was extraordinarily greasy and didn't even taste good. I will NOT be back. read more

The worst customer service mixed with average food makes for an extremely poor experience. The owner is abrasive and rude. He apparently has an issue with Slice, but takes it out on the customer. Never ordering from them again and I suggest others follow suit if stress over ordering pizza is not what one is looking to experience. read more

We stopped here for the first time for some slices on a weekday evening around 8pm. The unhappy server was vacuuming a hallway floor then came behind counter to take our order. He didnt wash hands but did use a spatula on slices. After warming up some old looking slices and serving them, he began vacuuming around all the tables where we ate. I decided to stop in to this place to grab a slice of pizza after finishing with a hair appt. and I was starving. I read the reviews on Yelp and although the reviews weren't great, I decided to try it. As soon as I walked in, I almost wanted to walk back out but my stomach was growling so I decided to order. First, it's a small place but it looks very run down. The "ready to go" pizza looked like it had been sitting there for a very long time. I couldn't even tell what some of the toppings were. I decided to get a buffalo chicken and a pepperoni to go. As I went to pay, I noticed a sign that read "$10 minimum on credit/debit"....thank goodness I had cash on me. Although they do have an ATM machine there, it was out of order that day. The soda machine next to to the register was absolutely filthy and it kind of grossed me out thinking about eating the pizza. Still I thought, maybe this a diamond in the rough type of place. WRONG....the pizza was horrible. The slices were soggy and lacked flavor. Worst pizza I ever tasted. read more

Both dishes were cooked perfectly. My pork was a tad sweet but mixed with the potatoes and spinach was terrific We ended up with a lemon dessert that came out warm and was delicious. In addition had another raspberry dessert from establishment and that was delicious. The place is small well lit pretty windows to view. The other patrons were all enjoying their time. No drama and couldn't ask for better patrons. The waitress was excellent and my wife and I truly loved this place. We will be back keep in mind reservations are needed. We were fortunate to score on a Friday. Their are nine tables why reservations are needed. They also offer a prix fix just in case and is reasonable. I will definitely be back and I'm doing that bolognese pasta not on a share but as a main. Terrific place Recommend

Came here with a couple of friends on a Saturday night. The dining room was packed which made it…read morevery loud and hard to hold a conversation. Our waiter was very nice, but again hard to hear him. We ordered the calamari app which was served in an interesting taco bowl shell. It tasted good and was enough for the 3 of us. For my entree I got the veal piccata which was delicious and tender. My friends got the seafood risotto and the three cheese ravioli, both said their meals were good.
