WARNING! WARNING! I have only gone in for a consultation so far, but I'm inspired to write a review because it's a rarity in my experience to get the kind of customer service that I received today. Just dropped by with my VW van to discuss some thoughts I had for a kind of "partial restoration". I was prepared (as would be the norm) to feel like I was bothering them, especially since I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do. The people at SOS simply took (a lot of) their time going over some options, explaining what goes into the work, etc. The best part is that they actually seemed excited about the project, which is nice because I love my van and am excited to improve it. Took my mustang here after completely failing my own radio/speaker installation. A friend referred me and I'm so glad that I took it in. They were completely friendly and professional. I can tell they were busy but they still took the time to let me know what I did wrong and what needs to be done to fix it. The price was more than fair and they had my car done quickly. After picking my car up the sound system was excellent and the new touchscreen console worked perfectly. They even installed the Iphone plug in a perfect place so that I can blast my music. Well, I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. The interior was in very good condition except for the drivers seat.....over the many years driving this car the outside panel of the seats backrest was seriously torn and damaged and had lost practically all it's padding. I kind of hesitated fixing this because I thought that the only option was to get whole new seat, and how difficult was it going to be to find a 17 year old seat for my car. Then one day I noticed the SOS sign while driving down Oceanside Blvd and decided to see if they could help me; I got a reasonable quote and checked up on the review and decide to use SOS to repair my seat. Boy, I sure am glad I followed through. Sandra took the utmost care in making sure I would be satisfied with the work. Not only was she very informative of what options were available to match the original color and texture, but she personally made extra effort to find the best material for the job. Every aspect of the job (time required, qualify, workmanship, service) was as promised. When I picked up the car and saw the repair I was overwhelmed. This place is awesome! We were given a trampoline with a torn mat; it had one large rip right through the stitching and several smaller holes. I looked into a replacement mat but the cost was high. Then I looked into patches and realized that I could patch the smaller holes myself but the large rip was a no go. I called SOS and asked just about the large rip. After sending in a picture, I was quoted $55. This was so much cheaper than a new mat, so brought it in. A week later, I picked it up to find that SOS had repaired not just the rip, but all the holes for no additional cost. The work is super well done and I know this mat is going to last us quite awhile thanks to their help. I would highly recommend SOS Upholstery. read more

I took the bench seat out of my 1960 VW Single Cab that is being restored to Sandra at SOS Upholstery. Sandra was VERY helpful in helping me chose the material and pattern to use. She took the time to discuss options and showed me different patterns. With her help, I decided on a two tone leather, light grey and dark grey with blue stitching to pick up the color of the truck. The seat turned out awesome! Once the restoration is complete, it will go back to SOS who will complete the interior. read more

Sandra and her staff treat the cars like they are their own. We have two classic Cadillacs. We like our cars perfect and do not mind paying for excellent work which SOS provides.SOS put on a new top on my 76 eldorado which has a huge convertible top. They also fixed and aligned the frame, painted it and made sure all the gears and hinges worked correctly. They just finished my front bench seat, carpets and door panels. They match the existing back bench seat and the carpet looks like it was made for the car. I am so thrilled with the work. They also redid the drivers seat, glove box and gear shift lever on my Allante. Again, perfect match, excellent custom work and it really makes the car look new again. Sandra is a pleasure to work with, I would only use them as they provide excellent customer service, follow through and are reasonably priced and timely in getting jobs completed. Older cars can have issues which happens, and Sandra always calls if there are other items needing to be fixed. I will trust SOS Upholstery with my cars any time. No Stars For You!!!!!!!! Appalling!! There should be more Laws for these crooks that take advantage of victims from The Poinsettia Fires!!!! Yes I had to evacuate with my pet cat. My poor kitty unfortunately peed in my car! Yes there was a terrible smell!! I came to SOS Upholstery for help in having the lower passenger cushion replaced. I had a bad feeling about it the whole time! Lesson learned! It is a dirty place!!! Very unkempt and disgusting! Sandy (Owner) ordered the part/cushion for my 2010 Acura TSX and I paid $163.77 for the part. It took 3 days for her to get it and by that time my car started to ease up with the smell, I treated it with Natures Miracle and it worked! I decided instead of risking my seat getting ruined I canceled her services. She was going to stick me with the part! Her policy is no returns on a special order. SHE DID NOT EXPLAIN THAT TO ME!!! After many phone calls to her and she was never there! And Acura in finding out their policy . I was more than happy to PAY their 20% re-stocking fee. She was pissed that I called Acura and found out their re-stocking fee! And she gave Acura a whipping for telling me (the consumer) . Acura was very professional in helping me with my situation. She reluctantly returned the cushion and they waived her 20% re-stocking fee! And she CHARGED ME $40.00 !! She gave me a check for $123.77....!!!!!!! I asked her to please mail it to me because after 6 weeks of not answering my calls and hang ups, and the lies and the run around , I did NOT want to go there EVER AGAIN! She DID NOT MAIL my check! After a week I called, then for some crazy reason she offered to bring it to my home that evening and NEVER SHOWED UP, and didn't even call! I had a horrible experience with this establishment. To begin with, the customer service was terrible. After beginning to speak with me, the young girl at the counter, who refused to give me her name for this review, took a 10 minute phone call and assisted the person behind me. It just went downhill from there. They were trying to get me to have my entire convertible top replaced, when all I wanted was a new back glass. When I asked if anyone was even going to LOOK at my car before they made that determination, I was told that they know these cars and didn't need to see it to give me a quote. I was then put in contact, by phone, with who I was told was the owner, and was told that she was at the other facility and I would have to make arrangements for her to look at it. I told her that I was disappointed in the customer service and that this was becoming a lot more difficult than it should be. I was then told that I was welcome to go somewhere else. At that point, I had to agree. I let them know that I would be reviewing their business and was accused of having "nothing better to do than to go around ruining people's days." As I left, I told the girl at the counter to have a nice day. Her response was "I will, as soon as you leave." The ONLY positive experience I had with the business was the phone conversation with Mark. He was so polite and helpful and assured me that they could help me with my car. Both the owner Sandra and her daughter Sarah are very accommodating, personable, knowledgeable and efficient. They were able to get the exact color match within a few days (they also carry a wide inventory of materials and colors which came very close). The reupholstering was done within just one day and looks fabulous. They even brought to our attention the worn adjoining panel which they also replaced for a nominal labor charge. All I can say is WOW! From the moment I walked in til the time I picked up my seat they were absolute professionals which is refreshing. I brought in a Harley seat that was pretty torn up, Sandra spent time with me figuring out what I wanted and even expanded on my ideas. They quoted a great price for new foam, leather and custom stitching. I thought it would take forever to get back to me, wrong! They finished ahead of schedule and below budget. Prices are the cheapest in their area of expertise however, both of their shops have zero concept on quality assurance. I have taken in my Xterra for a headliner restore twice and both times it has looked horrible and still needs to be re-done. Took my corolla into their other (customz) shop to get a paint job. I stated that I wanted the vehicle to look new again. Well they didn't even do half of the vehicle and the part they did do had to be re-done as well and still is has spots that they did not fill in. It's as if they are letting children work on cars. Again to sum this business up, they do cheap horrible work. If they would only look at their product once finished they may be an okay establishment at best. I expect flawless professional work from these self labeled professionals, it's simply not there. Take note that I gave them multiple chances on multiple cars failing every time. If you walked away feeling satisfied with SOS you did not look closely, any kind of paint job looks decent at afar. Spend the extra cash save the grief. I took my car to SOS to have the front seats recovered. They did a good job recovering the seats. HOWEVER, they are very carless in the way they take the seats out. When I went to pick up the car, I opened the driver's door and the seat was moving my itself, very odd! I went back in to pay and when I got ready to leave the control panel that controls the seat was broken and had been glued together. The guy there said that was like that and I was adamant that was no so because I always fix anything that is broken and that they had done it. He ordered a new part, which came in a few days later and by the way was the wrong color. I was not going to argue with them and just kept it. Another thing that happened when I picked up the car my message indicated an urgent message about airbags. I thought it was just a coincidence so I went to my mechanic ASAP and come to find out the airbags connection is under the seat and it was broken, so he fixed it. Needless to say SOS would not reimburse me the money. They said they didn't break it, but no question that they did. It was on my paperwork from my Mechanic and the owner just said that my mechanic was lying and that I should have taken it back to her for them to fix. How in the world would I have known that the airbag connection was under the seat? I'm a woman and not a mechanic. The owner refused to reimburse me. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Give them an "F" for installation and PR. My 86 Sea Ray is considered a turn key boat.Have had no problems with it. Had SOS reupholster it. When I picked up my boat I was very impressed on how it looked until I got it home! Screws were missing, one of the floor panels was caving in which they said they would repair, hoses were removed, speaker wires were disconnected, found one of the speakers thrown in the engine compartment, passenger seat mounted backwards, opened up the floor ice chest and found a dozen crushed beer cans and trash. They removed the throttle lever and when they tried to remount it they messed it up. The lever was falling off. I complained, they said bring it back in and they would have their "mechanic" look at it. They stated they fixed it. Time later I decided to try to start it in my driveway. The outdrive would not go down. I took it to a mechanic in Temecula he said the controller was damanged beyond repair. Cost of $850. Just hope the material and the thread hold up in the upholstery. read more

I brought my 2002 Mazda Miata in to get a soft top. I went there and was very amazed on the work they do.I had called a few other shops and the pricing was very close but all other shops were down in SD. I was speaking with Sandra and she was very nice and made the whole process easy giving me different options I could pick from. I was going through my insurance to replace my top due to vandalism. After a week dealing with the insurance they sent me a check and I went and put a deposit down for them to order the top (10/21/13. The top came in the next day and they tinted the window limo tint(10/22/13. The next day (10/23/13) i dropped off my car on my lunch hour and I asked if they could look at the latch as well because it wasn't closing properly. On 10/24/13 I received a call saying that they got the top on and they are going to be adjusting the latch and could pick it up that evening. I got there at about 5:15 or so and I was happy on the job they did. the top looked amazing I already have the original paint on my car which is in excellent condition and with the new top it looks like a brand new car. I say they do good work and i have seen other peoples cars they have done as well and its amazing. I will be coming back for any upholstery work I need in the future.
