Tried this place today. They were offering $9.99 lunch special. Either a regular, or chicken gyro, fries, and a can of soda. I got the spicy, garlic version of a regular gyro. The meat had a strange flavor, the fries were luke warm, and limp. They also had a strange flavor to them. Sorta of a chemical taste.. I have had gyros all over STL, and this was my worst experience. They had quite a few people in, so maybe my experience was unusual. I will not return. read more

I tried one of their other locations for the first time a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love. Because the Soulard location is closer to my neighborhood, I decided to check this one out on a Friday night. I placed my order on their website around 5 PM, and everything was sitting on a shelf in a plastic bag ready to go when I arrived inside about 20 minutes later. I ordered exactly what I had at the other location: chicken gyro bowl with feta cheese and no tomato. However, my meal at the other location was so much better! Many of the pieces of chicken in my bowl this time were burnt and borderline charred. Also, I instantly noticed that the pickled cabbage was missing, which was a bit disappointing! The pickled cabbage adds more flavor to the bowl than you'd think. The pita bread that comes with the bowl was soft and delicious. My meal definitely wasn't bad, but I wish it tasted just as good the last time I had it! read more

I did a mix of both Tzatzikis. I had a bite of my friend's lamb/beef gyro - it was very salty but had a lot more flavor than the chicken. I would probably try that next time! First time eating at this restaurant and we were very impressed with the quality of our gyros. I had the Cali Gyro and it was excellent in flavor and size. My wife had the Chicken Gyro and she couldn't stop complicating the flavor. The service was excellent however, it's an order and pickup at the counter which works for me just fine. Favorite Gyro spot in STL. This family owned Gryo company has been fantastic and accommodating ever visit. I used to frequent their old location over off of 12th, and just started coming to their new spot closer to Broadway. The new location is great, much more space in their kitchen and a more updated environment. But honestly, I don't come back for the atmosphere I come back over and over again for the quality of food plus great customer service. From the doner, gyro or the bowl I had last visit you really can tell the ingredients are fresh and top quality. They also give HUGE portions so always have leftovers and I am not complaining. Ordered this for delivery. I got the gyro salad with spicy tzatziki sauce. The gyro meat was cold. Not sure if this is normal or because it was for delivery. The menu here, as you might imagine, centers around their delicious rotisserie gyro meat, cooked and seasoned perfectly. I am a sucker for the doner kebob and get that sandwich almost every visit. It's served covered in feta and tahini and wrapped up nicely with lettuce and tomato and onion in their absolutely delicious pita-like bread. Park on-street and you can eat inside the shop or stroll over to Ponticac Park and make yourself a little picnic! I came to know about Soulard Gyro from a friend who had been at another location and told me about the affordability and the quality delicious Mediterranean fare. I ordered my Soulard Gyro for delivery through another app. I ordered hummus and a gyro box. The gyro box is basically like gyro loaded fries. It's a bed of fresh, and may I add perfectly seasoned, fries then heaping helpings of shredded gyro meat, onions, sliced tomatoes, goat cheese, and of course, tzakiki sauce. I love my tzakiki so I also ordered an extra of it on the side and it was scrumptious- cold yogurt cucumber-y goodness. Despite being delivered, my gyro meat was still warm and the tomatoes and tzakiki cold My hummus was also fantastic as it was creamy (likely mix of tahini and chickpeas) topped with paprika. I did add a little more EVOO of my own, but that was so it would go further I've always held back from ordering gyros delivery, but I'm glad I made the leap with Soulard Gyro and I'm going to again, and again, and again... read more

Well I had the "Döner Kebab", I am not impressed with this sandwich at all. Gyro meat, was dry to me, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tzatziki sauce on a freshly baked bun all good! The sandwich was pretty tasty, but not loaded with a lots of meat. Just skimpy on the meat to me. I believe, I had these else where and they were much more meatier, however, I love that tzatziki sauce they put on the sandwich, the lettuce was fresh and good, but I could hardly taste the meat with so much other stuff on there, you got to stack more meat on that sandwich. This is a small place with like four tables that seat four people each. So if you get in at a rush time, you may have to take your order to go. There was a hair on my fork when he brought the food out to me, and I thought this should have been addressed before he brought my food to me, I do appreciate him picking the hair off my fork right in front of me at the table, but would have been nice to just get a new fork, after all they are disposable plastic forks. That just kinda reminded me of an old dirty diner where the cook picks his nose then handles your food. Moreover, while I am thinking of the meat, in my opinion when i did get to taste some meat, as I pulled some out to try by itself, it was very salty to me. If I went back and I am not opposed to visiting there again, i would not order this sandwich, just not worth it to me. I would order something else. read more

I have to go in the middle because as much as I was fine with my gyro and thought it was quite good (the meat was a little on the dry side), the BF ordered a chicken philly and was highly disappointed. Definitely a solid gyro place. I've been here twice for lunch, the first time I got the Döner Kebab and the second time I had the Gyro bowl. The Döner Kebab was huge and overstuffed with lettuce, tomato, and gyro meat, all topped off with tzatziki sauce. The ingredients tasted fresh and the size of the sandwich definitely left me stuffed. I ended up not getting fries because I had saw the size of other customer's sandwiches. The second time I was tempted again to get the Döner Kebab because I enjoyed it so much last time, but opted to branch out and get the Gyro bowl. It was a little more expensive, but you definitely get a lot of food. The bowl was composed of rice, tomatoes, lettuce, gyro meat, a few pita bread wedges, and of course... the delicious tzatzik sauce. I've been to the new Soulard Gyro location in O'Fallon three times already and was running some work errands around the city and remembered there's one in Soulard so I stopped in to pick up lunch. I ordered a Gyro Salad with spicy tzatziki sauce and a Chicken Gyro. I didn't taste the Chicken Gyro but my coworker was pleased with the sandwich. I was pretty disappointed with my salad. It was less than half the size of the one I've been getting in O'Fallon. It probably had about 2-3oz of gyro meat in it when the other place easily has 4-6oz. The feta cheese was so finely crumbled and so sparse I almost couldn't taste it. I can't see myself going back with all of the amazing sandwich shops in the city. read more

Walking along the cobbled stone sidewalks in Soulard you could easily pass by this Greek storefront. If you did, you'll be missing out on some great gyro sandwiches. I've had my fair share of these Greek sandwiches, but these would have to take the cake for being the thickest, most-loaded, sloppiest (in a good way) gyros in Saint Louis. I ordered the standard gyro sandwich with feta cheese and fries on the side. When the waiter brought my meal, lets just say I'm glad I skipped breakfast that morning. As you can see, these gyros are stuffed! The flavor of the lamb mixed with the tzatsiki sauce and those juicy tomatoes all inside a soft warm piece of pita bread was phenomenal!  My biggest advice is not to undue the wrapper holding the sandwich together like I did-trust me. Also, word around town is that their Philly Gyro is their most popular option, so if you decide to visit, maybe you could give that a try. My only remark about this place is that their fries suck, but hey, they're called 'Soulard Gyros and Deli' not 'Soulard Gyro and Chips' for a reason. read more

My favorite gyro place in the city in one of my favorite neighborhoods. I've had the traditional gyro and the gyro wrap. Fresh ingredients.Generous portion sizes. I had two meals out of the wrap. Other meats are available as well as salads and gyro bowls. Chips and drinks. I get my foid to go usually, but there is some indoor seating and a few tables outside. Staff is friendly and efficient. Waahhhhhhh GYROs rock! For real though. I'm a huge gyro fan and just stopped by here for the first time. Like every other review says, cash only. They have an ATM that charges you like $3 to use which is better than nothing I suppose. With the use of "Square" I wish these "cash only" shops would finally convert. I was in a pinch so I used the ATM but I rarely carry any cash on me and hate ATM fees. I went with the plain-ole Gyro and fries all for about $8. The GYRO was packed with plenty of meat and other toppings. It was amazing! The fries were good, too. They were crispy and thick and perfect. I pulled up Yelp on my phone, and this joint was on top of the list! Fortunately, I looked at its page for a few minutes because one essential thing to know is that Soulard Gyro only accepts cash. It does have a ATM in store, but I just went to my bank and avoided paying any fees. The menu is pretty simple. They do offer some other deli options, but Greek is the way to go. The gyro isn't too expensive. The basic form runs $5.99. Upgrades to feta cheese or a bun can add fifty cents to a dollar. They do serve some vegetarian options, too. I made my order, The Gyro Supreme, and my order was ready within moments. This gyro was bursting with meat! However, if you still want more, you can pay an extra $1.50 for MORE gyro meat.
