Crawfish étouffée with shrimp and fish
    Adrian D.

Came through Irving, Texas. I wanted some soul food, and I found this spot. We got our food to go, but you can sit down and eat. The service was really good. The lady at the front counter, she was funny and really nice and they got our food out really fast. My husband got the Yams. The yams were perfectly sweet, tender, and full of homemade flavor. We both ordered the crawfish. The crawfish étouffée was rich, creamy, and packed with seasoned crawfish that melted in every bite. The combination of comforting soul food and authentic Cajun flavors was absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and made with care. If you're looking for food that feeds both your appetite and your soul, this is definitely a place worth visiting. I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

By far some of the best soul food I've eaten in awhile . I've been to this location on two occasions and everything I've had was superb. This location is a nice size with booths for seating. Subtle R&B playing in the background gives this a nice touch before you get stuffed. The portions bolster in size and the quality matches quantity . Customer service is helpful here and gave me some helpful information regarding the menu. I've been to the other location in Addison and I would only recommend this particular location only. Catfish nuggets are seasoned well and tasted fresh. Hush puppies and fried okra are some great additions to the meals. Broccoli cheddar rice has nice consistency and was flavorful . Peach cobbler I would give 7.7/10 but wouldn't mind trying again. Lemonades are a nice thirst quencher to down all this good food . Prices are decent. Overall very satisfied with Soulful Street Bites in Irving. Please check this place out .

I have been WAITING on this place to open back up (some hooligan broke in). If I could give a 10 I would! Everything was not only seasoned but cooked to perfection. There wasn't a bad thing eaten and the staff was so helpful. I had to take mine to go but the area is designed nicely ( not a fan of red though, lol). Please support them if you're in the area. You can tell it's made with love.

    Slice of cake $7

The customer service was great. The food was pretty good. I got a slice of cake and it was pretty dry was in my feelings about that cause they recommended it and said it was good. For $7 it should have been moist and not dry.

I am glad Soulful Street Bites has a location in my neighborhood. I ordered the smothered pork chop plate with mashed potatoes and southern greens, to-go. I believe the special for the day was oxtails. However there was a sign that they were sold out by the time I arrived early evening...fair enough. I can't wait to return to try more of the side dishes with my next plate. The mashed potatoes and southern greens have won me over.

    Oxtail bowl must have

Soul Food Bite really surprised me--in the best way. The service was warm, and the food was incredible. The oxtail bowl was packed with flavor and big enough to feed a small army. And the mac and cheese? Ooh sooo good. While it's a small, non-traditional dine-in spot, the food hits every mark. Easily one of the best soul food places when it comes to true quality and flavor.

    Oxtails over rice

I'm not sure why it says "closed today" on Yelp. I went there earlier today and placed an order shortly after it opened at 1230. There were already a couple of people in line and a couple of people waiting on their order. Anywho, I got the soul bowl with fried ribs (my main reason for going) along with mac and cheese, collard greens and yams. Everything was delish. If you don't like your food touching, you may want to pass on the soul bowl and order separately. To my left, I saw that the special was oxtails over rice. I got that too because why not? I have to eat tomorrow, don't I? It came with a side. I was told the black eyed peas were only sold on Sundays, so I went with the cabbage. Let's just say when it was all said and done, I was fluffy full. SSB, please get on the delivery apps. Your customers would greatly appreciate it. The option to online order would be the icing on the cake.

It's Sunday and after church hearing a good word we needed a good meal. We were greeted with a warm hello and smooth R&B music like I'm in my Momz kitchen. The customer service top notch friendly and knowledgeable of the menu.

Super busy, inside the door was being held open since there was just people coming in and out. Had to get on a waitlist and that took an 45 to an hour to be seated. Once seated, the server wasn't anywhere to be found until 15 minutes after. I'm sure it was extremely backed up. But then the order didn't come after an hour. At that time, I didn't feel as hungry anymore so maybe I'll come back on a slower day. The food was decent but the sides were all pretty sodium loaded and the chicken was pretty greasy. The ambiance was and the hostesses were helpful. I would recommend to go on a slower day at least once if you haven't tried this place. Everything costs $60+, In my opinion the dishes are a bit overpriced. If you're watching out for your calories with this one then just forget it!

Listen! there are vegan restaurants, and then there's Chopping Roots. What I experienced here…read morewasn't just good for vegan food... it was culinary excellence, period. This place is cooking with purpose, flavor, and a boldness that puts even the most seasoned soul food spots on notice. Let's talk about that Fried Chick'n. I've eaten a lot of fried chicken in my life real, seasoned, Southern, bone-in, boneless, you name it. And not one has made me stop mid-bite and say, "Wait... this is vegan?" The outer crisp was perfection golden, light, and just enough crunch to command attention. But the inside? Soft, juicy, meaty. They didn't just imitate chicken. They improved it. Fool me any day if this is the standard. But I didn't stop there. I went full Sunday plate on a Saturday: Cornbread dressing: Moist, savory, and nostalgic in the best way. Yams: Like dessert, but not overly sweet. Silky smooth and soul-warming. Collard greens: Seasoned like somebody's auntie who don't measure nothing but knows exactly what she's doing. Mac and cheese: Creamy, rich, layered, no shortcuts, no weird vegan aftertaste, just yes. Everything on that plate was so good my foodie partner had to physically stop me from diving in face-first. Had they not pulled me back, I would've left with nothing but crumbs, a smear of yam glaze, and regrets for not documenting the magic. The space itself at the Frisco Fresh Market is welcoming laid-back but intentional. The service and energy is grounded in community, flavor, and something sacred that goes beyond food. This isn't just about being plant-based, it's about being rooted. Chopping Roots is proof that vegan soul food doesn't have to compromise. It just has to be done right. And they absolutely did it right. Frisco, you've been blessed. Don't sleep on this spot. #HayiaSophiaFaves #ChoppingRoots #VeganSoulDoneRight #FlavorOverEverything

Had to put this on Yelp to get the word out! I got the vegan fried chicken (Southern fried oyster mushrooms on the menu). Yum! The texture was so realistic that my non-vegan mom was sure it was actually chicken. And as a plant based eater of 8+ years I was sort of worried like I did when Impossible burger came out! Very real. Almost too real, haha! I took some home and ate it with some vegan mashed potatoes and gravy. It was HEAVEN. I will definitely be back for vegan fried chicken and vegan mac and cheese next time!

The smoke from the kitchen basically consumed the dining area and was very irritating. It eventually dissipated after a while, but I wouldn't recommend infants in this environment. After our party was seated, it took 15-20 min before our waiter greeted us and provided water; that was a bit annoying. After we got our orders in, things were smooth sailing from there. We were a large party and our waiter did a pretty good job at managing us and all of our requests. Food: they do not waste time bringing the food out. Most of our orders came out within 10 minutes! I ordered the Short Rib (unfortunately not pictured). It was hot, tender, and seasoned well....very good. It came on a bed of rice and some type of sauce. I was not a fan of either. The rice seemed uncooked and the sauce was too much and very liquid. It drowned the rice and practically made it soupy. I would have been fine with just the short rib. I also ordered a side of black eyed peas... also not a fan. It was undercooked and I didn't love whatever seasoning was used to prepare it. Other items I tried: Fries, Cornbread, Yams, and Soul Rolls. These were all tasty, specifically the soul roll. It came out crispy, hot, and stuff proportionately. I could take every bit of what was inside. It's definitely a must try.
