I visited Soulful Street Bites recently on a Saturday. The line was long, which shows they are popular, and the restaurant itself looks very nice. The food was good and I enjoyed my meal. Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. The lady at the register was not courteous and seemed to have an attitude, which made for an unpleasant experience. What disappointed me most was their military discount policy. A few weeks ago, I visited on a Saturday and my military service was honored. However, during this visit I was told that military discounts are only given on Mondays. As a veteran, that was frustrating and confusing. If you're going to promote being veteran-owned and supporting veterans, that support should be consistent and clearly communicated. After hearing about the other location, I was finally able to try this! First off the food was amazing. Literally everything my family and I had was amazing. The rib tips and the macaroni was my favorite. I don't think that you can miss here. I will say just be prepared for some stuff to not be available. The ambiance was the best part of this location. We went on my birthday as I had been wanting to try this place. We went to the one in Addison but that location only does takeout orders so we drove 25 minutes to the Frisco location where we could have my birthday lunch. The mural was beautiful and the decor was great. The music was RnB which I loved and it gave way to the soul food feel. We were very excited to visit this place but the food unfortunately did not meet our expectations. I truly believe it was because they were super busy. The fried ribs were tough to eat. The shrimp was the best part of our meal. The fried mushrooms were okay. Our drinks were watered down. Due to it being so busy it seemed as though anytime we asked for something the waiters seemed annoyed. Ordering at the host stand was great. The hostess was warm and welcoming. I got a soul bowl for $34 and im already planning my next visit! I seriously had macaroni and cheese this good since visiting my family for Thanksgiving 2024 at my bonus granny's house. I highly recommend! The soul bowl is a round cake pan of cornbread but they cut the middle if the corn bread out then top with 3 sides and your choice of meat on top on the sides. I chose mac and cheese, cabbage, and candies yams with fried chicken as my meat. It was amazing! read more

I am thrilled that Soulful Street Bites is close by because WOW, this place is next level. The service deserves a standing ovation. Every single person was smiling, kind, and genuinely attentive. You can feel the good vibes the moment you walk in. The Georgia peach tea and lemonade combo made my entire day. I only wish there were free refills because it was THAT good. Pure happiness in a cup. Ambiance-I can feel the soulful atmosphere. It's cute and has a cozy feel. I love the colorful artwork on the walls. It feels clean and new. I love they have booths and tables. The bar area and other decor is simple. 4 STARS Service-It's a mess, but they are new so I will cut them some slack. They need to get some leadership that can get them organized. They need a system to flow and keep things moving smoothly. The take out was so slow. People that came in to dine were already eating and I was still waiting and waiting. 1 STAR Food-It was decent. The Mac & Cheese is a no for me. The catfish bites were not bad. They were seasoned well. 2.5 STARS OVERALL I know they have some kinks to work out. This location is new and needs to get a system in place. I will go back and give it another chance and dine in. I can see the potential for success. Customer service was so bad I had to leave without food. The lady at the front was very rude and ruined the whole experience.

Ordered pork chops, rib tips, and fried chicken wings and they didnt put the rib tips in the bag. I drove all the way home (an hour and 8 minutes) to find my order missing. I tried to call and of course they're closed. I cant believe I spent over $80 (after the tip) to not receive my meal. I'm so disappointed. I mostly likely will not be back. A few friends and I had lunch at this location recently. The spot is perfect if you're looking for a soul food spot in the heart of Frisco. The overall experience was good. Service was fast, the cashier was friendly, and the establishment was clean. The food was pretty good, however, it is expensive. I ordered a regular brisket sandwich with potato salad, water to drink and a serving of peach cobbler to go. My total was $28 before adding a tip. I plan to return to try different menu items and would recommend the restaurant to others. read more

This was my first time at this particular location. It is closer to my BFF who invited me out. Like with the Addison location there was a line, but my BFF and I sat at the bar. I got the oxtails which came with mashed potatoes and I got the mac & cheese as a side. I also got a lemon drop martini with a splash of strawberry flavor. No complaints. Everybody around the bar was real friendly and so was the bartender. We were there for several hours, just having a grand ole time. Others got the fried chicken, fried catfish. Again, there were no complaints. BTW, the oxtails were not on the menu. We saw someone with them and ordered them. Maybe the bar menu was different from the table menu. I'm not sure. I think they'll do well there. It's a great location. Just don't expect to be seated immediately and you'll be good. read more

This was my second visit. During my first visit, I ordered the catfish with greens and yams. The sides were great, but the catfish was undercooked. Today, I ordered the oxtails with cabbage, the oxtails were tough. I was really excited to have a soul food restaurant closer to home. However, I'd rather continue driving to Madea's Down Home Cooking, where the oxtails are tender and you receive three sides for a lower price. Madea's will always receive 5 stars, they haven't disappointed on any of their food items. read more

First time here and it's a possibility I might try it again. My sister, daughter and daughter in law went there to order to go for our household. My order was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. They were out of Oxtails so I ordered the "Wings Pls" with 2 sides, sweet yams and cabbage plus yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My lemon pepper wings were so SALTY & soggy that I that I threw them away on top of there was 1 of 8 that I swear they took off someone's plate and threw it in my order. The cabbage look like it was the last of the pot (they did go 35 mins before closing but that's not an excuse) and had a strange taste and the yams weren't seasoning correctly the cinnamon overpowered the nutmeg. Now my cake was disgusting, it tasted like dry box cake that was made 2 days prior. I tasted my sister's pork chop which was nice, crisp and moist, she liked her rice but not said the gravy was so-so and said her 3 desserts were good. She didn't like her chicken tetrazzini; but said she and our mom liked the catfish. My daughter liked her bbq ribs, Mac n cheese and yams. My daughter in law liked her fried ribs but not her Mac n cheese neither did I when I tasted my daughters, it tasted like there was Velveeta in it or too much of some smooth cheese sauce consistency. Unfortunately I tied my food up in that black bag and threw it outside in the trash. IF I decide to try it again it'll be for the oxtails or pork chop; OH and I called to ask a question and the answering machine came on and said "nobody's available to answer your call," it's irritating when businesses don't answer calls. read more

"We" make it so hard to support Black-owned businesses when they consistently provide mediocre service at best. I placed an online order and received a text message confirming my order was ready for pickup. Upon arrival, I was told, "Your side isn't on the menu today. What else do you want?" I asked why no one called to notify me and why I received a text saying my order was ready. The young lady responded again, "We don't have it. What else do you want?" After requesting a refund, a young man came from the back wearing an apron and smelling like weed to tell me I needed to request a refund through the third-party company that handles their online orders. However, after finding out the owners were from Jackson, MS and Kool-AID was on the menu, my expectations shot up. I had the catfish with a side of Mac & Cheese and the Yams. I went here for my birthday. The restaurant is quite small for a large party. I had a party of 16 including 4 kids The food was good the mac and cheese could have used and little bit more seasoning and the collard greens were not good at all. The service was absolutely horrible. The waitress had an attitude and they only took half of the group order then said to stop taking our order. Everything was perfect and I kept thinking about it for days, and told everyone I talked to about it. Yesterday I went back and ordered the rib tips and the chicken wing plate. The sides were delicious!! The rib tips were dry and very hard to chew. I felt like I had gotten the last few rib tips they had for the day. The chicken was seasoned well but they were a bit tough to bite into. I was disappointed... Over cooked, looked and taste like dirty grease. Had NO lemon pepper taste to it at all. Shame on the cook for serving that to anyone. The yams tasted like they came right out the can. This business hails from Mississippi-and this is their second location. The first is in Addison. This review is about the Frisco location, which we went to in the early afternoon on a Monday. Food: OMG! This food far exceeded our expectations! Hot, flavorful, seasoned, delicious! I got the vegetable plate and I can tell you, there is no need to spend hours cooking Yams, Greens or Mac-n-Cheese at home. These folks have it for you in spades within minutes. Service: Service was fast! By the time we took our jackets off and began to get comfortable, the food was coming out the kitchen to our table! Ambiance: Neat, clean, well designed for the size. This is was my first time at the new location and they have definitely outdone themselves. It's great to see a black owned company grow and do it the right way. They didn't lose of their southern hospitality and the staff is great. The food came out within 5 minutes of ordering and it was hot and seasoned to perfection. The food was great but the staff is the reason why I will be coming back. I sat at the bar and Mike and Ashely helped me with whatever I needed. Customer service like that is what makes the business. i have gave this place a lot of chances because it's the only soul food place around me but not sure i will be back. when they first opened i went the people at the front had bad attitudes, the place kept running out of food and only had some food on certain days so it got annoying. I took a break came back and people are definitely nicer now. i ordered roast over mash and when i got home i seen it was over rice instead i called to tell them they told me to come back. I came back and had to wait, now with gas prices going up and having to drive 15min when they shouldve gotten it right was annoying but i understand people make mistakes, but they didn't offer a free side or drink, i would've been happy with a water at that. I just feel like if you inconvenienced someone you should do a little bit more, they still said thank you which i appreciate. read more

We had dinner at Soulful Street Bites yesterday, and I'm still thinking about it! The fried fish and okra was perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the chicken tetrazzini was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. I had the yams; sweet and just the right amount of cinnamon. For dessert, we had the peach cobbler and it did not disappoint. My husband is from Mississippi, and from the first bite he said it reminded him of true down-home cooking, flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with love and patience. You can taste the care in every dish. The service and the music were both great. If you're looking for authentic, soulful food that feels like a warm hug, this is the place. I have been wanting some soul food since I've been here and this restaurant came highly recommended. I had rib tips with southern greens and yams with peach cobbler. When I say it was so good and I will be back. The only thing I didn't care for was the baked beans had too much of a bbq sauce taste. We came in for dine in and were told to have a seat on the couches while we waited for a table. That part was completely fine. We understood they were busy and had no issue waiting our turn. What we did not expect was to be completely overlooked. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we noticed a party that arrived well after us being seated before we were. At that point, it started to feel less like a normal wait and more like we had simply been forgotten. No one checked in. No updates. No acknowledgment. Just sitting there wondering what was going on. We flagged down a staff member to ask about our table and they had no idea what was happening. They asked who told us to sit and wait, which immediately told me there was zero communication happening among the staff. After explaining the situation, we were finally seated. You would think that would be the end of it, but it wasn't. Another 15 minutes went by with no one checking on us. No greeting. No explanation. We had to flag someone down again just to get basic service started. At that point, the experience already felt disorganized and dismissive. Eventually, we were given 20 percent off the order. While I understand the intention, it did not feel genuine. It felt like a quick "they're upset, just discount it" solution rather than anyone actually taking accountability. The staff member who initially told us to wait never came over to apologize, explain the mix up, or acknowledge the inconvenience. That lack of ownership is what really stood out to me. A discount does not fix poor communication. It does not replace basic courtesy. It does not make up for feeling ignored for almost an hour. Customer service is about respect and accountability, not just adjusting the bill when things go wrong. I really wanted to enjoy this experience, but the disorganization and lack of genuine effort to make it right left a bad impression. Just tried Soulful Street Bites at their new Frisco location and it was so good. I had the smoked chicken and my husband got the fish with spaghetti -- both were amazing and full of flavor. The portions were big enough that we ended up having it again for dinner later that night, which I'm not mad about at all lol. The Kool-Aid was on point (like actually just right), the atmosphere was nice and welcoming, and the service was super friendly. It really feels good to have some legit soul food close by now. If your open until 8, you should serve anyone that walks in up until 8! There were 2 of us so it wasn't like a group walking in 30 minutes until closing. The food was nothing that you would run back to get again. The side dishes were very small. We ordered desserts however they were so worried to get closed at 8, they forgot the desserts we paid for. The girl that welcomed us and took our order was very nice however the other girl that walked up as we were paying was the one that said it would have to be to go! I wouldn't recommend this place.
