We spent the morning at PGA Frisco and had breakfast at the Apron, located in the lower level of the Omni Hotel. They have a breakfast menu, as well as full buffet. My SO went with the buffet options, but I opted for the "BoB" - Breakfast on a Bun, their version of a breakfast sandwich. It comes with chive scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, American cheese, chipotle aioli, apple-wood smoked bacon, brioche and a side of hash browns. I subbed the bacon for turkey sausage. It came out incredibly quick and was quite possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. It was positively delicious. The hash brown square was also very crispy. Came here on New Year's Eve with reservations through OpenTable. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were seated immediately, which was a great start. Service was a little slow in the beginning despite the restaurant not being very busy, but the staff was friendly and clearly working hard. Drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time once our order was placed. The food took quite a while to arrive--about 55 minutes. The patty melt was the highlight; my husband really enjoyed it, especially the chipotle aioli. The pizza was good, though a bit heavy on the cheese. I ordered the Bolognese, which was just okay--the pasta was slightly dry and not as hot as I would've liked. Overall, we still enjoyed the experience, especially given that it was New Year's Eve. Since then, the menu has changed slightly, and the Benedict now features ham in place of brisket. While I did miss the smoked brisket, the ham version was still satisfying. The ham was thick sliced and tasty, and didn't take away from the texture or flavor of the dish. Another one of my favorites has been the pancakes. They are light, airy, and perfectly golden with a subtly crisp edge. The portion size is very generous and they have a delicately sweet flavor that pairs beautifully with maple syrup and fresh fruit. I choose the fresh fruit cup as a side for each dish, and though it required a small upcharge, the fruit was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented. This restaurant is located inside the Omni PGA. Also, valet is free when you eat here, just FYI. We actually saw this place on social media and we are so glad we stopped by. They have a buffet or menu selection. They have a bar as well. We decided to go with the buffet. It did not disappoint! There were so many options and the food was fresh too. The service is a mix, you have a server regardless if you choose to do buffet or menu selection, but if you do buffet, you serve yourself. They do have an omelet section where a cook makes it fresh before your eyes. It was delicious! What a great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, a quick drink, or even gelato! We stayed at the Omni and decided to wander down for breakfast on Saturday morning. Delighted to find they were still serving breakfast and the breakfast buffet at 10am we were immediately taken to a table for two right by the windows. We perused the menu and walked the buffet and both chose buffet. We took our time enjoying the heartier options and I was thrilled to find out the overnight oats were all dairy free! They had gluten free pastry items as well and a plethora of other choices. We filled up and enjoyed the view. The service was great, both attentive and friendly. Ironically, the coffee was horrible (and I'm not picky), but even I couldn't drink it. The Apron was filled with a mix of families, couples, business people and singles. He politely said, "no, she can seat you" the young woman again repeated in a condescending way- "you need to go to the hostess stand again" I wish she would have escorted me there, she was not very nice, she didn't even smile- luckily the man at the hostess stand was super sweet and friendly. Located inside the PGA Omni hotel, this restaurant is just not worth the higher prices. Our server was friendly, but her timing was just so accelerated that we had cocktails, appetizer, and entrees within 15 minutes since the restaurant was pretty empty - which meant our food arrived like 4 minutes after the appetizer. She did not check back to see if the appetizer was ok until after our entrees were half eaten, and it was missing ingredients (thankfully the manager removed it from our tab). Our water glasses also sat empty the entire time - which was rough because all of the food was super salty. The restaurant is also super difficult to find, and there is no signage around the hotel to direct people to it. It is basically in the basement level in a corner, overlooking the PGA field. This is one of the new restaurants (July 2023) in the PGA headquarters. It is lovely inside and there are outside accommodations available. Our wait staff was so funny and served quickly. The food was so delicious. We started with the charcuterie board. It's simple but yummy. No super unusual cheeses...just the basics, and sometimes that what you want. My flatbread was great. The crust was buttery and just the right amount of crispy for me. My husband got the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese. (I think that's what it is called.). I didn't get a good pic of it. When I posted on social that I ate there, I had multiple people telling me how poor their experiences were and how gross the food was. The second day, we ordered the Caesar and the burger. Disgusting. The meat smelled bad, was greasy and had no lettuce or tomato. Needs to be entirely re-thought. The Caesar lacked flavor despite extra dressing.
