Shortcake and coconut were better but nothing amazing. Quickly regretted asking for it. Will not have it again. Definitely not the cherry on top. It had been years since my last visit here and I remembered really enjoying it the first time. Unfortunately, this return visit got off to a rocky start. When I arrived, I was waiting on two family members who were about 10 minutes away, so I went ahead to put our name in. The hostess told me I could go right in, which made it seem like a table was ready, but she never took my name or wrote anything down. After I explained I was waiting for two others, she said "okay" and then started taking names and numbers from other parties, leaving me off to the side without her saying anything else. It was odd, so I sat down. After sitting for maybe 5-7 minutes, I noticed she was taking names for parties of 2 and 3, which was confusing. When I asked about it, she said she already had my party and name even though she had never taken it. At that point, it felt like the Chinese restaurant episode of Seinfeld, where somehow you're waiting but also not really on the list. She finally took my name for a party of three and quoted a 30-45 minute wait, without accounting for the time already lost. My family members arrived shortly after, and we still waited another 20 minutes or so. Once we were seated, the service didn't improve much. Our server was extremely slow, and everything came out at once. We barely had time to get drinks, salads, or biscuits before the food arrived. Refills and additional requests felt more burdensome than attentive. While the food and drinks themselves were great, the overall service felt very disorganized and subpar. read more

This has become our must stop on the way to the airport with our coastal college attending kids. The fried chicken is perfectly brined and always crispy fresh. The classic fried chicken gravy compliments the mashed taters and biscuits equally well. Creamed corn has the perfect texture and right amount of black pepper to offset the sweetness. Biscuits are grandma's kitchen'esque. Not sure we love the new version of green beans. Previous version was made with the flat Italian green beans and often tasted burnt. A salad is off re ed to start the meal. When a bowl is empty the server will ask do you want refills. You will never leave hungry, only if you have will power not to over indulge. Some friends recommended this spot so we all went here for a date night. The inside is very western feeling, and I love the ambience. I really like the idea of just choosing your chicken and then them bringing out the different sides and biscuits. The biscuits were definitely my favorite part. If kitschy Texas signs, line-dancing waiters, and canned YMCA music is your thing, you have found a home. They serve both kinds of food, "Fried Chickens" and "Chicken-Fried Steaks". DON'T ask about side dishes because that is the same for every order and served family style; Mash potatoes, green beans, biscuits, cream corn, and salad. My parents LOVED the salad. (I recognized it as a zero-frills tossed iceberg salad with a simple oil and vinegar dressing). Everything was fine. Greasy chicken and CFS w/ cream gravy. It was super ok. Almost satisfactory even. We haven't been to Babe's in years so we wanted to take our girls to see if they enjoy it as much as we did. We stopped by on Sunday at 4:30 pm and were about to be put on a short wait list but they accommodated us quickly. Our server was prompt and constantly checked up on us. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Catfish, and Chicken Tenders. The biscuits and salad were a good start. Don't forget to add honey (already at the table) to your biscuits. I didn't love any of the main dishes, but I couldn't get enough of the Creamed Corn. The Mashed Potatoes and Gravy were okay, but I was not a fan of the Green Beans. That's highly unusual because I love vegetables. I couldn't eat much of the Banana Pudding as it was too sweet and was missing crispy vanilla wafers. Babes Chicken is a hidden gem - literally was super to find the first time since it hidden basically within the Frisco museum. I wish it were a bit more clear how to get to the front door. Same thing with the menu which was very confusing at first glance. Really should have paper copies to make it more clear and not just have the waiter list everything. But once we got the food ordered it was really good. Homemade salad dressing is delicious and the chicken tenders were the favorite. Other than that the service was great and we loved the restaurant ambiance itself. The barn theme and decorations were a lot of fun and definitely worth the visit. Visited from AZ for my college-mate's 50th birthday weekend! I fell in love with Babe's! The choices of meats, the unlimited sides, the sweet tea! Oh-My!!!! My friends and I all ordered a different meat to share with the table and EVERYTHING was delicious and well seasoned!
