On 2 separate occasions, I received poor customer service here. First time it was teenagers working, so I just figured a lack of maturity and lack of work experience. This time, it was grown men and one I believe to be the manager. They were constantly talking to other employees; therefore, I had to repeat my order three times and still ended up with a short order. Totally in love, during my adventure of cross country road tripping to Orlando from Las Vegas. When we arrived in Texas I had two things on my mind, BBQ and Angus steak and woo wee I got it. Food: 5/5 I've had a lot of BBQ in my day but by far real Texas BBQ beats out everywhere. They do it right here in Dallas, Texas. Stopped in here on the way on a trip to Houston, the place was not crowded out too busy. Several things I notice not up to par. The trash under the steam tables needs to be cleaned, restrooms need attention, trash under the refrigerators. This facility odd not up to Solan standards. The local management is not keeping this place like other Soulman'sI have been to. Sitting in a booth eating and seeing the debris under the steam tables was a great disappointment. The service here was not as good as Day Greenville Texas. They run a good facility there. The team was not as friendly as other Soulman's we have been to. The area in front of the steam tables on the floor needs attention. Really the whole facility needs a good cleaning from under all equipment to the restrooms. Do not write many reviews like this but how clean the restrooms are really tells how clean the rest of the store is. I encourage senior management to make a surprise visit and see what is happening. The last time I went to this restaurant, I sat in drive thru for 15 minutes with only one car in front of me. This is my second time going and the cashier was so incredibly rude and seemed very confused with how to work the register. I think someone needs to go back and retrain her. Obviously, management did not do their job if she did not know how to speak to customers and did not know how to work the register. On top of all that, half of our order was not even in the bag. I live near Royse City so that is usually where I go for a BBQ sandwich, but tonight I was in Terrell and got a chopped beef sandwich and fries. Terrell's sandwich and fries is much better than Royse City. The fries in Royse City seem to be frozen from a bag. The fries I got in Terrell tonight seem to be fresh cut. Much better. I loved it. Picked up a catering order for 20 yesterday. We host a big Thanksgiving on the Saturday after. Could easily have fed 40 with all the amazing food Soul Man supplied. Justin and his crew forgot NOTHING. We had plates, napkins onions plastic ware bread, sauce, even serving utensils. Fed the whole family delicious food (especially ribs and spicy potatoes yum) did not wash a single dish and sent everyone home with leftovers for late supper. Zero complaints. 36 years I have eaten at Soulman's BBQ. Decent prices and a true smoke flavor. Ate here 3 times this week and everything was great. Skin on fries is a favorite, cooked fresh to order. I only had one slightly dry meal but I eat burnt ends on my brisket and that is okay. read more

Eek. I stopped here on my way to Shreveport. Is there such a thing as fast food barbeque? I think not. I'd recommend to keep on driving. You grab a tray cafeteria style and order your meat. I got brisket and pulled pork. You then scoop yourself one scoop of vegetable from the pen warning tables. You'll probably have to shew away the flies. I should have just left after looking at the setup, but I was up for an adventure. The pulled pork isn't pulled. It's like a pork chop that the tried to dice up. There's not any type of vinegar sauce for it. Just the dark molasses BBQ sauce for the brisket. Brisket was tough and tasteless. You then get to sit down amongst the tvs blasting Fox News. Barbecue loaded baked potato was great. My only complaint was they over cooked their okra. They make the best cabbage! Stopped by for lunch on a 6 hour road trip & had a GREAT meal! I'm familiar with the Soulman's chain, but this was by-far my best experience ever. The staff were super friendly, extremely helpful, & even offered me samples. Upon ordering a 2 meat plate and 3 ribs, they proceeded to break out a fresh beef brisket & a fresh cut of pork, both of which were EXTREMELY juicy, seasoned perfectly and did not need even a drop of sauce! Worst BBQ I've ever had. Waited in line for 20 minutes with only one vehicle in front of us. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a chopped beef sandwich. We also asked for extra pickles and onions and did not get them, and the sandwiches didn't have pickles or onions on them, either. The chopped beef looked like hamburger meat and neither the chopped beef nor the pulled pork had any flavor. The sandwich had to be completely engulfed with BBQ sauce in order be somewhat decent. Ok, I'm a really patient person. Businesses get busy, their employees get frustrated and everyone deserves grace. We visit Soulman's at least once every couple of weeks- they have great food. What I don't have patience for is a manager that refuses to speak to me to solve an issue. I went last night, sat in the drive thru for nearly an hour, ordered 5 meals and drove the 15 minutes home. We started opening our food and four of the five meals were wrong. One three meat plate only had two meats, and when I called to talk to the manager, they refused. No problem, I'll leave a message for them to call me back. I never got a call back, so we went in person tonight to get it resolved. We were told they were "too busy to talk to us" and didn't even have the contact information I'd given them to night before, and we were told we were probably lying about it to get free stuff. Long story short, we got it handled, thankfully. I don't know that we will go back if it's such a hassle to get the correct food and have to deal with such negativity from the entire work crew. read more

The spicy potatoes don't even make it home--my daughter just hammers them in the car. I found the one in Forney is better than the one in Terrell due to staffing. A tad overcooked is putting it mildly. They are going for the "Sturdy" Meat recipes here. The gristle is the best part, and pork gristle if you can get it hot. Bread will be dry, the fries tend to be saturated in something from elsewhere on the menu, possibly reheated several time to maintain that potatoe texture. I had good pickles and peppers there. Too bad I couldnt have got an entire plate of those...It is the what it is...I guess my slogan for this place would be.."Just because you stayed up all night smoking it , doesnt mean its good.
