This has become my favorite place for pho, and I keep going back again and again. The place is small but can host enough people to give it a family style venue. And the food is amazing; quality and healthy comfort food. Yes, there is always time for soup!

Efficient, friendly and ever so delicious! I couldn't be more grateful for the team that has warmed me through and through during a cold, sometimes unfriendly winter.

We stopped by at around 7:30 on a Friday night, and were originally told the wait was about 40 minutes but coincidentally a table opened up and we were seated immediately! The servers were pretty nice and prompt in filling our waters, and the food came out pretty quickly. The goi salad was huge and pretty good, and our ramens were decent as well. Nothing life changing, but pretty decent for a quick fix!

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I walked in w/ my wife on a brisk, sunny day in November. What I was greeted was an aromatic haymaker in the form of rich, slow-simmered broths and slow roasted meats... ah yes, we had been transported to the glory that is cold-weather Asian cuisine. Many places specialize in ramen, soba, udon, or pho... but not the Soup Shack! No, they have brought many of your favorites to create a one-stop shop of soup, noodle, and rice dishes from all over Asia. No more arguing over Thai vs. Ramen, you can have them both in one place! Enough about their approach, the food was amazing and priced as though you are getting it from a street stall (very cheap/reasonable). There are vegetarian options, but the real depth in the broths are under the meat selections... you just can't get that light slick, marrowy taste from vegetables, sorry vegans and vegetarians. There are the usual add-ins so you can create your own twist on their classic offerings and even a build-your-own option. I trust the experts to craft the best they offer so it seems a bit of a waste unless you are a picky eater, but I digress. The item that caught my eye was the spicy miso beef soup/stew (can't remember the exact item), as I have not seen something of this nature on any menu in or around Boston on our ongoing tour of new and/or exciting ramen and noodles. It had a spicy broth with a *hint of sweetness and was full of tender sirloin/flank steak. As in many other places, the meat is not butchered so there will be a bit of a battle with connective tissue but that's part of the fun in Asian soups (at least for me, not so much for my wife). We coupled our soups with edamame and a Goi salad, both superb and at a great price point. The decor and service were superb as well. It's a small shop (6 tables, with ~4 bar/window seats), but cozy and pretty quiet overall. There is even a Dragonball mural leading to the bathrooms to accompany the light wood/bamboo environment. It feels cozy and minimalist, with a direct view into the kitchen so you can watch the magic happen but more importantly get waves of aroma when there are dishes being made. Truly a neighborhood gem that doesn't get the respect some of the other ramen and udon shops get in the area, but definitively worthy of some of your hard-earned dollars if you are looking for something to warm your body and your soul. The Soup Shack has been entered into our bargain restaurant rotation. I can't believe it took us 3 years to finally find them, that's just a shame when I could have had their soup for the past 3 years within a 10m walk. You don't have to be a 10m walk away though, it's right off the Porter Square Red Line T stop. It's worth the super easy trek if you have access to the red line!

Delicious food every time. The service is speedy. The atmosphere was like modern Japanese style. I was going to Lesley at the time and I ordered take out from them. It was amazing! They gave you a bowl, chopsticks, and a spoon. I have never received all of that for ordered take out at a noodle place.

Delicious Soups! I went here a lot during college. What else would you want after a long day of classes? I've tried almost everything on the menu and they're all delicious! My recommendations: -Duck noodle soup: roasted duck with ramen noodles and bok choy. The broth is sooo good and they're very generous with their duck portion. -Pho: not the same as my mom's pho but good for a restaurant! Again, they're very generous with their meat. Try the Pho Sate if you like a kick! -Mi Wonton: pork and shrimp dumplings with ramen noodles, bok choy and roasted pork. I love any kind of dumpling so this always hit the spot for me. Drinks: -coconut juice: can't go wrong with coconut juice with the coconut pieces! -Thai tea: always hit the spot, brewed very well!

The tom yum special which is Creamy Tom Yum Ramen with Tonkotsu broth. jumbo shrimp [2). little Neck clam [2], ramen noodle. tomato [2). wood ear mushroom, scallion, nori and lime was pretty good. Has a slight kick to it and definitely has the tom yum flavor profile but weak on lemon grass so could have used more of that. The shrimps were big and juicy. They ran out of clams so just asked if we were ok with just more shrimp which I am totally fine. The noodles come could be a little more al dente but overall very good. The mix of tom yum and pork broth works for this noodle bowl. Service was good, we were greeted immediately upon entry and offered bar seats as it was fairly busy. Ambiance is very casual and popular music being played. Parking is easy as it is lot parking for the shopping center.

Soupless noodles very tasty. Avoid the roast pork which is extremely dry and tough. One piece looked like it had worms (?) Bok choy had sand in it, not washed carefully I guess.

I have dined here in person as well as ordered takeout- my favorite ramen here is the tan tan men! I enjoy the spicy miso as well, but it is much hotter (and I am a wimp :)). I would stick to soups- had the chicken katsu curry and it was just ok/good, but not great. For takeout, my ramen was well packaged and arrived super hot !

Really enjoyed the pork bao bun. Good amount of meant and piled high with pickled veggies! Also really enjoyed the one soup I tried. Can't remember which one but great flavors. Very fast service as well

I stopped by Soup Shack Porter for a late lunch/early dinner after finishing my errands nearby. I picked this place because I was looking for nearby place that offerred Asian food (since my current city doesn't really offer many good options). Overall, I was satisfied with the food they offerred. Frankly, I was really surprised that the place was run by a Thai person...and had, therefore, changed what I wanted to order to a Thai dish...just because..I felt that...a Thai dish just gotta be more authentic than any other dish...and I wasn't disappointed at all! I ended up ordering dried BBQ and wonton noodles..and was very satisfied with its taste! It was something I definitely missed and it was on point! I also ordered Takoyaki..which was good..but maybe I wasn't as impressed of it as the wonderful dry noodles dish that I had! While they have lots of options for you to choose, being that the place is run by Thai people, my recommendation is to go for a Thai dish! I did with my noodles dish and was rewarded with a taste I had been missing out for so long living in my current city. Note: the dish is actually quite generous..because I ordered a side dish (takoyaki) and dried noodles (ba-mee-hang), I couldn't finish the whole noodles dish....although I loved it quite a bit, too! So..pace yourself!

We got seated very quickly and our waiter was great! Our food came out after 5 minutes and was very fresh. The bun bo hue had a nice kick and the meat was very tender- definitely a must try! The dirty ramen was earthy, savory and spicy. Both were delicious! Would definitely come again- a casual, unassuming but homey noodle restaurant.

Good location near the T. Indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. The inside is small but it works. Service was pretty great even when they were busy. I had the karrage chicken app and the chicken katsu curry and both were great! The katsu bowl was large so no complaints!

The miso broth was not bad, but the miso flavor dominated the rich pork broth, so I got less of the pork flavor. The noodles were firm, but I was disappointed with the scant toppings. My bowl only had 1 thin fish cake, 3 bamboo strips, and few wood ear mushroom strings (1 star off). Even the pork piece was small, about the size of 3 bamboo strips. Most other ramen places I have been to include an abundance of toppings or even a soft-boiled egg. I guess the ramen bowl here could fill a craving, but not one I would go out of my way for. One annoying thing that happened with us is that our waiter gave us the runaround to get an advertised $1 discount with a student ID (1 star off). My son showed his student ID and then the waiter said we have to download their app too. I downloaded it, but then he said the app account needs to be in my son's name. I then changed the account to my son's name and showed him. Then the waiter said the email needs to be his school email address. Eh, nowhere on Earth does a *restaurant* marketing app requires a student's school email address. Then he started asking if my son goes to college or high school, and that he needs to clear with his manager if a high school ID is okay. At this point, it just seems like he was trying to make things extra difficult for us. He eventually said he got "permission" from his manager to apply the $1 discount for my son's high school ID. Good Lord -- this is not worth it at this point and left a negative impression about the establishment.

The best thing about this restaurant is that its located right in the middle of Harvard Square…read more When we walked in, it was super awkward. We weren't greeted or anything and we just stood there and waited until I asked if we could sit upstairs. I'm not sure if we were suppose to get seated on our own or what. The menus were paper and were really dirty, old, and ripping apart. Tables and chairs were sticky. We almost wanted to get up and leave but we decided to stay because we heard the ramen was good. Off the bat, the menu seems pretty limited compared to what we saw online (tik tok, instagram) so we didn't get to order what we came for. We went with a basic tonkotsu ramen and out of all 3 of us, we did not like the tonkotsu ramen. The broth didn't have much flavor and the noodles were bland, the only thing that saved the dish was the pork. We also got several appetizers, the chicken wings were really good. Overall, pretty disappointed. It was our first time here and we will not be coming back.

Waku Waku Ramen in Harvard Square is a cozy little ramen spot with a darker, more intimate interior…read morethat gives it a comfortable neighborhood feel. We walked into a space that is on the smaller side, but the layout makes it feel warm and inviting, with a nice upstairs seating area that adds a little extra charm. The lighting is soft, and the overall atmosphere encourages settling in for a warm meal rather than rushing through a quick stop. The menu has a good variety of Japanese comfort food beyond just ramen, including bao buns, karaage, gyoza, and sushi-inspired dishes. The ramen selection includes options like miso tonkotsu, signature ramen, lobster ramen, and mushroom ramen. The bowls are hearty and come with generous toppings, making it a solid choice when you are looking for something filling on a colder day. We tried the miso tonkotsu, and the broth had a rich, savory depth that paired well with the noodles and toppings, though the flavor can vary depending on what you order. Some bowls have a richer depth while others feel lighter, so choosing the right broth matters. The bao buns and appetizers are also worth exploring if you want to try more than one item, with the karaage offering a crispy, juicy contrast to the heavier ramen bowls. Service adds to the experience, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that makes the small space feel more personal. The staff checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable without hovering. It is the type of place that works well for a casual lunch, a quick dinner, or warming up with a bowl of ramen after walking around Cambridge. Waku Waku is a solid ramen option in Harvard Square, especially when you are craving a cozy bowl rather than a more formal dining experience. The portions are generous, the atmosphere is inviting, and the menu covers enough ground to satisfy both ramen cravings and a wider range of Japanese comfort food.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here!…read more We got the signature miso ($15) ramen and the red devil ($17) ramen. Since we were here on a weekday we tried the ramen combos (+$2 each) and added a tsukune bun and 2 pieces of chicken karaage. The tsukune bun was delicious! The chicken meatball was so juicy and the bun came with a zesty horseradish/wasabi sauce. The karaage was also quite crispy and tasty, although I wish it came with the same sauce that the tsukune bun had. The ramen was delicious. Although their chashu was lean, it was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The ground pork was also surprisingly delicious! I often find that the ground pork at other ramen spots is forgettable, but the ground pork here was rich, perfectly seasoned, and not too dry. I'm a sucker for soft-boiled eggs and the egg here made my day (I might even order extra egg next time!). I was actually not a fan of the corn fritter. It had a fun texture but I would have preferred loose corn in my ramen. However, a lot of other reviewers seem to love it. The ramen noodles were nicely al dente and both broths I tried were very rich. The red devil is no joke! To me it was more spicy than the classic buldak spicy chicken ramen. While the red devil broth was very spicy, I could still taste the nuttiness from the miso. I look forward to trying their other ramen and dishes.

The karaage was awesome, but our ramen broths both times have felt lacking, compared to other ramen spots. The flavors are not deep and sometimes the broth feels bland.
