    Rotting orange.

The soup was quite good. The only complaint I have was that the fruit they gave us was rotting. I would rather not get anything, than get rotting fruit....

This was one of the most comforting, savory, and hearty meals we went to a few times in the winter cold in early March for a work trip. Luckily for me there weren't a lot of people in line the times I did go. I got to try quite a few soups here. My favorite was the jambalaya and the corn chowder. The bread, fruit, and Andes bar really complete the meal. I actually didn't enjoy the bisque as much as I thought I would. I can see why people who really enjoy lobster bisque would enjoy it, though I prefer mine a bit creamier and less seafood-y tasting. I really hope to come back again in the future. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Simple and delicious. Big fan of the no-frills approach, heightening the opportunity to enjoy on-the-go. In reality, however, I found that the soups unfortunately weren't anything special. Nonetheless, it's a great spot if you're looking for something quick, homemade, and satisfying.

Convenient little walk up stand in Midtown. Fairly quick service. The soup was excellent. They include a piece of bread and an apple. The soup was DELICIOUS! Heads up for the Seinfeld tv show fans, don't expect the rude service. They were really nice.

The lobster roll pictured is spoiled!!! I am so disappointed. I smelled it as soon as I opened it. This was my 1st time here and definitely my last. I also got the clam chowder which was good but not enough to trump my disappointment with this spoiled lobster roll. They give you bread, a chocolate candy and an orange. The orange was on its last leg- bruised and old. I threw it away. I can't get over this like wow. A whole spoiled lobster roll. Boooooo!!!

Was disappointed by the lobster bisque. The bisque was overloaded with veggies and I mean big chunks of veg. I like my bisque with large chunks of lobster but those were hard to come by. For almost $14 for a "medium" which they call a "large", I expect less veggies and more lobster in a lobster bisque. Maybe I ordered the wrong soup. I'll be back, but I'll never spend the money on lobster bisque again.

We came, we saw, we ate, we liked. It's iconic in pop culture so we felt compelled to try. It was definitely good but the a little pricey for soup and the lobster roll really under delivered, especially considering the price. The staff was very friendly and provided service with a smile.

Fast service and nice. I enjoyed the New England clam chowder. It's was not too thick and had big pieces of clam. The clam was flavorful and chewy. Of course the soup also came with bread for dipping. 4/5 I also got the bone broth which was kind of herbally and Smokey. I'm not too sure it my kind of broth so maybe I'll try the chicken broth next time. 3/5

Counter serve soups. Never had a bad soup here; they're all hearty and full of flavor. Some of my favorites are Italian wedding, jambalaya, tomato, gumbo, and chili soups. A small and a medium is a good meal sized portion; if I'm very hungry two mediums is great too. I also like how they fill the cups to the brim. You get a chocolate and a piece of fruit with each soup, which is a nice little dessert. Sometimes a couple of people waiting around noon on a weekday but always moves very fast.

I came here because my husband was sick and I wanted to buy him a soup. This place was less than a block from where we were staying. They had fantastic soup, I got the tortilla soup. It came with a piece of bread, a mint, and a whole plum. Very good and tasty. The soup was only $11 for a quart. The service is rather quick. You can't go in or sit down. The booth/stall had soup bowls, but the bowl that we got to go was made of paper. And it had a cover. You tell the person working there the type of soup you want and the size and they ladle it up. It is a very efficient set up. So, I was glad to get in and out and back to my sick hubby. He liked the soup because it had a bit of a kick to it. I only wish they opened earlier than 11 am, otherwise, we could have grabbed some soup on our way out of the city. But. there will be a next time if in the area and wanting some good soup!

been here every few months for the past 4 years and its always solid and prices have not increased at all. convenient location, soups come with bread, fruit, andes chocolate, and their lobster rolls are always a treat when i feel deserving. friendly service, good wall memes.

There was no line when I stopped by to grab lunch- a delicious & quick meal under $10. Soup came in a small cup and included bread, chocolate, and an apple. I had the chicken & rice and it was everything I hoped for, delicious broth, lots of chicken, and plenty of veggies.

Good soup but average. Served with a slice of bread and an orange.. A bit overpriced likely due to it's popularity from TV.

How's the chicken and wild rice soup?

It was quite good and tasty. It came with a slice of whole grain bread, a whole plum and a chocolate mint candy.

Is the tomato bisque vegetarian or do they use chicken broth?

Per the picture of the menu, its vegetarian and gluten free but does have dairy and isn't vegan. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-original-soupman-new-york-7?select=A1o_KQiJXhJx-ZEFYfPSKQ

There was a short wait, but from what I could see, a variety of tables here and seating. Not the biggest place, dark, intimate, wood accents and small spotlights over tables. We ordered buns and spicy edamame to start. It seemed like we had just ordered when the food came out. Love that. Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

We tried the spicy shrimp (coconut based broth), spicy tonkatsu, and salmon miso ramen. The tonkatsu and salmon were both cooked well - tender and moist. They had a variety of sake and beer options. The inside is small but turnaround is fairly quick. Lots of two seaters and a large table that we were able to snag after just a few minutes of waiting. There was also bar seating. Pretty dark inside to add to the ambiance for a quick date or catch up with friends. Checked in to the waitlist via Resy because we didn't have a reservation, and it was a short wait. Service was prompt.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
