We were walking around the Rockefeller Square area and got the appetite for some Chinese food, at that time an uber to Chinatown was a 45 minute trip so we decided to find something local. We had a short walk to Main Noodle House and were sat almost immediately, despite there being a very packed house. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. I ordered a steamed roast pork bun and Moo Shu veggies, my wife got the sesame chicken. Portions are plentiful and very tasty. We're got to go boxes and enjoyed them later. Chinese travels well! Very happy with Main Noodle House!

Walking down 6th Ave looking for a place for lunch. The line of people waiting for take out almost scared us away but we walked in and were seated immediately. What a find! She had a small wonton soup, edamame and we shared shrimp shu Mai. I had a larger Cantonese style won ton noodle soup. Everything was fabulous - fresh, hot, not greasy and wonderfully flavorful. Seating was tight but service was excellent. Can't believe how lucky we got!

One of the best chicken fried rice I have ever had. Great find close to Macys. Service was prompt and helpful. Food came out hot! Lunch special was $14 and minimum $10 per person. Clean restaurant

3.5 Above average Chinese (American?) food in the heart of midtown Manhattan on 6th Avenue. When you're surrounded by countless pubs, delis and restaurants, sometimes a person craves an inexpensive but satisfying bite. Main Noodle House offered just that due to their daily lunch special (the standard menu prices are comparable to other businesses with prices reflecting it). Walked in around 3 PM for what turned out to be a late lunch. Bright lights and zero atmosphere didn't deter the patrons, some waiting by the entrance for a table. Service was friendly and we immediately placed a lunch special order of Chicken with Lemongrass at $13. Lunch specials came with a choice of soup (Hot and Sour, Egg Drop, Wonton or Chicken Corn). I didn't like any of the choices but went with Chicken Corn which turned out to be a starchy cup of water with very few pieces of chicken and niblet corn. Not good at all. Luckily, the main attraction--Chicken with Lemongrass exceeded my expectations. Portion size? Check (just right). Flavor factor? Check (delicious especially with my request to eliminate Soy Sauce and MSG).;Chinese cuisine often includes the triple threat of too much sodium affecting my sensitivity--salt, MSG and soy sauce. This was prepared in a flavorful manner with reduced salt--just how I like it. All mains were accompanied by white rice. Brown is extra. A pot of tea and those forbidden but delicious crispy noodles was a staple on everyone's table. With many competing fou fou restaurants out there, I forgot how I missed the simplicity of such a restaurant. Oh, and my fortune included in a Fortune Cookie (which I love) predicted something positive is coming up this week. Don't they always say something sweet? We wrapped things up promptly (once receiving the handwritten check). There were no credit card fees or Toast payment system. Just simply cash or credit card. We really enjoyed our lunch at this establishment holding strong for 20 years (with several name changes through the years) and the patronage reflects that. I rarely refuse Chinese food and visiting Main Noodle House was pleasant experience. I'm aiming for the large Noodle Bowl Soup next time. Yes, I'm returning and recommending.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. My husband and in-laws were in the mood for Chinese food, and since we happened to be in the area, we decided to give it a try. Upon walking in, I noticed the restaurant was full with people, and the delicious aroma in the air made me hopeful that the food would exceed my expectations. We were a party of five, and luckily, we were seated within a few minutes--perfect timing on our part. My in-laws ordered soda, while I initially stuck with water. They serve soda in cans, which I liked, but my water had some particles floating in it, so I ended up switching to a soda as well. My in-laws ordered the wonton soup and said it was one of the best they've had in a long time. Judging by the smell and their reactions, I wished I had ordered one too! For our entrees, the waiter, who was very friendly and offered some great recommendations, took our orders. My husband and I chose chicken fried rice and orange chicken. The fried rice was flavorful, and the orange chicken was some of the best I've ever had. My in-laws opted for vegetable fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. The vegetable fried rice must have been tasty because it disappeared quickly! I tried a piece of the sweet and sour chicken but wasn't a fan the sauce made it a bit soggy, and it just wasn't for me. Everyone agreed that the orange chicken was the highlight of the meal. Considering this restaurant is in Manhattan, I found the prices to be very reasonable. While I'm not usually a big fan of Chinese food, this place was impressive, and I'd definitely return if I'm in the area again.

My second time coming here. I've been dreaming about this lo mein for 7 years. I saved a picture of my receipt which was in Chinese and I couldn't figure out what I ordered. Luckily my waitress read it back to me and I opted to just go for a "round 2". We ordered the chicken lo mein, beef lo mein and mixed dumplings. My advice is opt for chicken over beef. And go for the dumplings. We received different flavors and all were good. Staff was great. Restaurant was a nice cozy off path spot to chill out after a long day.

A Hidden Gem Worth Discovering - A Must-Try Chinese Spot in NYC! As anyone who's visited New York knows, choosing where to eat can be overwhelming. With so many restaurants--some overpriced, some inconsistent--it often feels like a hit-or-miss experience. Thankfully, tonight was a major hit plus plus! Craving Chinese food but unable to make it down to Chinatown, my daughter found this hidden gem--and I'm so glad she did. At first glance, the restaurant might not catch your eye. It has that classic "hole-in-the-wall" look, but don't be fooled. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional staff quickly elevated the experience to that of a five-star establishment. Our server was incredibly attentive, always making sure our waters were filled and guiding us through our order to ensure we didn't overwhelm our small table with the generous portions. Her thoughtfulness made a real difference. When the food arrived--wow! Every dish was flavorful, fresh, and served in portions that far exceeded expectations for the price. It was not only delicious but also a fantastic value. I was so impressed by the quality of service and food that I left a 30% tip without hesitation. This restaurant is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great Chinese food in the city. And when I return to New York, I'll definitely be dining here again!

Omgggggg as many times I've been in the city I never knew this place existed I put in the best wonton soup around me, and this place came up. I got the chicken fried rice lunch special and it came with wonton soup. I loved every single bit of it with all the flavor. The service was also spot on! Best believe I will be back for more!!

It may be small, but the food quality is inverse to its size!! Oh my. I had a spicy chicken noodle bowl. Let the games begin!! WOW. It was served up quickly and hot. The depth of flavors was amazing. The chicken, cut into perfect bite sizes was abundant. The noodles were just the best. Wear a bid the red soup will send your shirt to the dry cleaner if you are messy.

I don't know if it's just me or the chef is just not feeling it but I feel like our order of the Singaporean Mei Fun (Rice Noodles) with Curry had gone down in quality or something tonight. My friend N and I have been regular customers at Main Noodle House for several years now, and we were never once disappointed or dissatisfied with our meals....well until tonight that is. Service is decently okay, they'll bring over some hot tea when you've sat down. You can always ask for tea if they seem to forget. Now, don't go expecting your tea to have a truly strong tea taste though because you're not getting that. You're lucky that you're even getting something hot to drink on this freezing cold day. Went to the restroom to wash my hands before eating. Now I gotta say, the bathroom is very clean because I don't see pee on the toilet seat or trash thrown anywhere on the floor. The coast is certainly clear! There's a beautiful vase of flowers sitting on the sink counter while I stood there admiring it for a few minutes before heading out to see if the food is ready to being served yet. Ambiance wise is your typical, no-frills kind of Chinese dine-in eatery. Tons of people also order deliveries from there. They're most popular for their assorted rice platters with beef or chicken as meat options, lunch specials (see specific hours from the menu), fried rice, and stir-fried lo mein noodles. Before getting the curry rice noodles served to the table, our two orders of the hot tofu vegetable soup (small) are already brought over. There're definitely enough pieces of veggies in the soup like broccoli, carrot, celery, snow peas, tofu cubes and etc. Very flavorful and healthy plus more worth it in my opinion compared to other soups that have a lot of corn starch mixed with water on the menu. Now, let's move back to the Singaporean Mei Fun. Like I've mentioned it from before, I don't know whether the chef has been having a bad day or whatever new is going on, but the curry rice noodles has gone downhill as the quality wise. In fact, its taste is so salty that I'd to drink two cups of tea afterwards. This is not good, not good at all. Normally, it used to have just the right amount of flavors and spices...so I find it pretty disappointing and underwhelming to say the least. Now, it's the time to step up and bring your A-game!!! Lastly, the staff brings over the check and two individually-wrapped fortune cookies to our table. Plus, she mentions along the line of "you guys can just pay the amount written on here when both of you are ready, we've included the tips in the bill so that it's easier for you guys." Whoaaa, wait the minute, whaaaat?!? You can't and aren't supposed to just add the whatever percentage tip you think we should tip you by adding that into the bill! So, we'd calculated the bill once again and decided to tip $2 each. Nothing more and nothing less. It just turned us away even more when restaurants try to do that to customers. Such a dishonest and cunning thing for a restaurant (let alone a person) to do that to regular customers who've been eating there for years. Ohh well, let's just say that you've really killed it for yourself! Good going there, Main Noodle House!!! We're never going there again.

Got off the E train and when we looked for Chinese food, this place popped up with good reviews and it was just a short walk from where we got off the train. My buddies ordered the special lunches and we also got two types of xlb's, beef chow fun, and some fried dumplings. The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

"How 'bout there?" he responded pointing to Excellent Dumpling House. It was directly across the street. I pulled up Yelp, saw good reviews and readily agreed. At 3:30, the restaurant was empty. There were a few takeout orders, but we were the only people sitting down for late lunch. And y'know ... it was pretty good. Wonton soup is what I'd expect in Chinatown. Wonton wrappers were thin -- my preference -- the stuffing delicious and the broth flavorful. They were generous with the beef in our chow fun. Good, but the noodles needed a jolt. So I asked for soy sauce which was sort of a solution. Shrimp with vegetables was great. A lot of shrimp, too. There are lunchtime specials on weekdays, reasonable prices, and nice people work there. Next time it makes sense to try dumplings since it is, after all a dumpling house.

Located within the historic Chelsea Market building--a former Nabisco factory where Oreo cookies were first produced--the restaurant feels theatrical in the best possible way. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and energetic atmosphere create a sense of occasion from the moment you walk in. It feels less like simply going out to dinner and more like stepping into a beautifully staged production. I started with a Botanist Gin Martini with a twist, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The surprise star of the evening was the new Cucumber Tiger Salad. The balance of flavors was exceptional: bright acidity, a pleasant touch of heat, and just enough mint to make each bite feel fresh and exciting. Every so often the mint would come through and suddenly all the flavors would click together in a way that made me immediately want another bite. This is a dish I would happily order again. Next came the Edamame Dumplings. They were delicate and comforting, especially when enjoyed with the accompanying broth. The broth adds depth and richness that elevates the entire dish. My only suggestion would be the slightest touch more salt, perhaps even a finishing sprinkle of black volcanic salt for both flavor and presentation. I also found myself wishing there were a bit more of that delicious broth because it contributes so much to the overall experience. For my entrée, I ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The fish was rich, buttery, and perfectly prepared. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the accompaniments were composed. The pickled cucumbers brought brightness, acidity, and crunch, while the black bean and eggplant relish delivered deep savory notes and unexpected complexity. I'm generally not an eggplant fan, but this relish was outstanding. The cucumbers and relish sit at opposite ends of the flavor spectrum, yet both somehow make the cod even better. Looking back, I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc alongside the cod would have been the perfect pairing. I finished with the Miso Caramel Milk Bar, which was spectacular. Decadent, sweet, salty, and touched with just enough umami to keep every bite interesting. The chocolate crumble underneath added a wonderful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the creamy ice cream and luscious caramel sauce. Every component worked together perfectly, creating a dessert that was both indulgent and sophisticated. From start to finish, the meal felt polished, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you!
