The Italian cold cut was a great balance of fatty and salty Italian meats cut by hots, a little lettuce and tomato, and oil and vinegar. It felt considerably lighter to eat than it actually was. The Gandalfini was also perfectly balanced with roast beef, caramelized onions, and fontina. This is my new favorite place to pick up lunch. Be aware that this is strictly a take out place. You can't even go inside; you order through the window on their porch.

OK Natural foods is just around the corner, has a lot of similar items that are way better quality and lower prices. Plus it's a lot cleaner and everyone is always masked. If you can't get what you need there go to Safeway or Streets (each about a mile away).

I told her my name and she said it would be a few more minutes. The woman then stated talking to her coworkers.. nonstop chatter. All the while the back cooks were bringing up food. And they were bagging it. After about 10 minutes of waiting. I interrupted the chatter and asked if my sandwich would be coming soon (at this point it had been 20 minutes since I ordered). She then asked me my name again and then grabbed a bag that had been sitting in the counter for some time and handed it to me. No apology.. nothing to show my bag had been sitting there for the last 8 minutes while I waited and she as the "greeter" forgot to check on it. So overall I would say the one star given is generous for the service, and food I received from this store.

Let me start this off by saying that I am an avid meat eater. Burgers and fries are always gold in my book. There's a Subway right up the street, so for the first couple months that I was in the area, I'd get a five dollar footlong for lunch. My goodness, was I settling. Tomato Basil Mozarella. You would not even believe how that sandwich can pleasure your taste buds. It's really the only sandwich I get (although I don't hesitate to steal bites of other people's). While the place is called "Soup's On", I do find some of their varieties of soup to be a bit meh. "Low sodium" is more like a euphemism for "You might have to salt and pepper the sh*t out of some of these flavors". The consistency can be a little thin for my liking... but on the other hand for $6 a pint and the guarantee that you're not putting any artificial grossness into your tummy, can you really complain? I think not. Now, let's move onto the desserts. As I'm typing this, I'm devouring a generously sized portion of rice pudding with apricot. It's wonderful, it tastes so fresh, and it's not overly sweetened or spiced. I really could eat this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A few weeks ago I got the chocolate mousse, and I could only finish a few bites in one sitting because it was THAT chocolatey. It was really good though, if you're an avid chocolate lover. The atmosphere's relaxed, the guy behind the counter is always upbeat and swift, and I rarely go anywhere else for lunch if I'm eating out in the neighborhood. read more

The menu isn't your typical fast food lineup either, they've got some creative, non-traditional options that definitely stand out. We tried the Jerk Chicken Cheesesteak, Fried Chicken Sandwich, 1908 Chicken Cheesesteak, and Fish Tacos, and they were all delicious. Seriously, everything was seasoned well and packed with flavor, with the exception of our fries, which isn't the end of the world. The jerk cheesesteak had a nice kick without being too spicy, and the fried chicken sandwich had the perfect crunch. They, very graciously, were able to make space for us to come a tad earlier. The food was absolutely incredible -- it was some combination of American comfort and Mexican / Latin American, with classic Mexican items like huevos ranchos, fish tacos, and enchiladas right next to traditional American brunch selections like chicken and waffles, hot cakes, and so forth. Their menu is also remarkably vegetarian / vegan-friendly, and it features their own house-made vegan chicken! We decided to split a few items, including the zucchini brie hot cakes, fish tacos, and vegan hot honey chicken and waffles. All three were outstanding, but my favorite had to be the zucchini brie hot cakes. The cakes were remarkably soft and fluffy, and I loved the bit of sweetness from the zucchini (and maple syrup, of course), and the extra hit of rich creaminess and savoriness from the brie. It was the perfect sweet and savory combo, and it was easily one of the biggest surprises of the meal. The rest of the items were also delicious, although not quite as wowing.The fish tacos were well-fried and flavorful, and I was quite impressed by how crispy and thin their accompanying fries were. I really enjoyed the flavor of the hot honey vegan chicken and waffles, but I was, admittedly, a little bit thrown off by the texture of both. It's very possible that the waffle had just gotten a bit soggy because I ate this dish last and it wasn't quite at its peak freshness. Unexpectedly balanced between sweet and savory, rich without being too heavy, and something I'd absolutely reorder. Overall: Great first impression. The menu has a lot of variety, the cocktails are creative and well-executed, and it feels like one of those places you could keep coming back to and try something new every time. Would I go back? Absolutely.
