Another place on our rotation of casual lunch spots. When it's chilly out, the clam chowder in a toasted bread bowl sits well in my belly. Crispy crusty edges encircle the tasty hot soup. Strong clam flavor, visible clam bits and potatos. There's something wonderfully nostalgic about tearing a hunk of warm sourdough off the bread bowl cap, dunking it into the soup and eating it. We've bought sourdough loaves. Tastes best if they're toasted in their hot oven before taking home. Not a lot of tables here. Can get full easily during lunch hour. Two small tables are outside. Bring a hat if you're sun adverse. There's steady to-go and online orders happening. No iced tea offered of late unfortunately. The AC can be mighty. I try to bring a sweater. If there's music, it's usually guitar strumming rock of 60's or 70's vintage ala James Taylor and other artists I haven't heard in years. Too bad I'm not a fan of Mr. Taylor's music. I've tried. Terrible care taken when making the sandwich. My pickle looked like it was partially spoiled. The lettuce was not even close to being fresh. Would never go to this location again and represents a stain on the chain. (Appreciate the owner's response. Today I ordered the Cholula Chicken Specialty sandwich. The cashier was very friendly and helpful! The store is clean and inviting. Id give the service and the ambiance an A+ Now the sandwich itself wasn't bad! The bread was soft and crunchy. Had a great balance of flavors. Nothing was overpowering. The spice level was a little tame. I suppose my only issue was the value of the sandwich. It was by no means the greatest sandwich ever. Nor was it the biggest. $16 for an 6"sandwich and it didn't have the usual premium ingredients that usually bump the price like bacon or avocado. This was just chicken tomato lettuce and some sauce. I also didn't understand the additional $2 charge for ordering a specialty sandwich. On the menu it stated the Cholula chicken specialty sandwich price for a 6" as $12.99 but I was charged an addition $2 on top of the $12.99 and all it says is special pricing $2. This is my 2nd time getting a sandwich from this location. The first time I had a turkey sandwich and this time I decided to get the brisket sandwich. Comparing the two, I would stick with their deli meats and not get the brisket in the future, it's very thin, almost Shredded slices and not super flavorful. One side of the sandwich did have more meat than the other. The turkey on the other hand was very good, and what you would expect. The star of the sandwich is their bread of course which is delicious. Their prices are a little higher than some other sandwich spots, however I think it's in line with the going rate. read more

The girl that was handling the cashier took my order perfectly and repeated it back to me to ensure she got everything right. There was only one person ahead of me so I didn't think it would take too long but I was there for 15-20 minutes before getting my order. Mind you, there were two people making sandwiches. Order was worth the wait and everything came out great but I was wondering why it took so long when it was just one person ahead of me. Thankfully I came in on Saturday so I wasn't on my lunch break but still! We have been very pleased with the other sour dough and co locations around the east bay and frequently place the same sandwich order. Today, we tried the Livermore location and ordered our usual - pastrami with horseradish. We are no strangers to spice, and one of our sandwiches was made with an inedible amount of horseradish. The other was not great but manageable, so I called for a refund for one sandwich only, as it can't be consumed, and was told that wasn't possible. We were told to come back for a remake, which wasn't possible for us nor worth the time as both sandwiches were disappointing. We will continue to drive the few extra miles to the dublin, pleasanton, or San Ramon locations where we have never had a problem with our order or service. They will forget something on a sandwich, forget a side, put no sauce on or so little it's ridiculous, try to ask for extra....they put so much on its now inedible. So, you think we'll if I go there and order in the store they can't possibly mess up right?? WRONG! Order a 12 oz soup, they give you the smaller size and give you the give you your sandwich with the wrong condiments. At this point you have to wonder if they are just guessing on every order. Told they don't give refunds after the three employees gathered in front of me to discuss. I was offered another sandwich after they all watched me throw the entire sandwich away. I don't take more food from someone who doesn't wash their hands, and I should not have to explain that to get a refund for food that tasted bad. I eat out 4-6 times a week - every week. I have been here 5 times since it opened. Once a business confirms they don't get customer service - I never return. I usually vote with my money, but the lack of hand washing requires a public service announcement. read more

I witnessed the guy after me start giving his order and the phone rang and then he was ignored while she took the order from the person on the phone. finally someone else came over and finished taking his order. Sorry but the person on the phone should have been put on hold until she was done taking the orders in front of her and maybe the other person could have answered the phone orders.
