I pay almost $50 a month for tanning beds, but they're either broken or have old, dirty bulbs. They are very loud, and the red light therapy is a joke--it's very expensive but impossible to enjoy; for starters, the bulbs were installed in an old tanning bed, and the whole unit is incredibly noisy and wobbly--it's outrageous to charge money for this. Level 4 only has one old bed; the other one hasn't worked for over a year. In Level 3, there are 10 bulbs that won't turn on. In Level 5, the fan is broken too. You don't get a tan at all. All in all, it doesn't even deserve a one-star rating. Why isn't this being checked? The owner does absolutely nothing. read more

I have a membership to South Beach Tanning and typically go to the Riverview location. The beds AND staff there are a complete difference. AVOID THIS LOCATION. The bed I was put into was making such insane noises I was terrified and the lights kept flickering on and off. I brought this to the employees attention in which she rolled her eyes, scoffed and told me this is normal for all beds. I tan every single day at the other location, never once did it make the bombing sounds these beds make. Oh and the loud banging sounds are partnered with vibrating jolts through the bed as your inside because they are so loud. Talk about a safety concern? The employees at this location are unfriendly and make me feel SO uncomfortable to the point I want to drive to the further location just to avoid coming in contact with them. This is every interaction I've had here. I brought in a lotion today that was on the banned list (I was unaware), instead of her politely mentioning it. She embarrassed me so bad infront other customers and spoke down to me like I was stupid and a child. I don't leave bad reviews, especially for a tanning salon, but I feel management should be made known of these issues. I don't use my phone inside beds but I did hop out out the bed just to take this video for sound reference. read more

For years, I have used bottled spray tanner successfully. However, it never seems to last very long and I thought it would be nice to "treat myself" to a spray tan that may last longer. I found a deal on groupon for three spray tans for $29 and south beach seemed to have a ton of excellent reviews. While the staff was very pleasant and friendly, the results of my spray tan are a complete nightmare. I followed the directions to a "t", asked many questions and several hours later noticed large brown splotches and streaks over every area of my body. I contacted the salon and spoke with the manager who refused to provide me a refund. I suggested to management that something may be wrong with the machine as the tanner was coming out in "splats" rather than a fine mist. She informed me that I'm the only one who has had an issue. Her only offer was for me to get one extra free spray tan. Why on earth would I want to go back and have a repeat performance? I am disgusted and embarrassed to go anywhere. I'm also completely puzzled after seeing all of the positive reviews. I wouldn't wish my splotchy results on even my worst enemy. read more

First and last time going. Hope I can cancel the membership I just bought yesterday. Bulbs out in bed, bed did not get hot whatsoever. Usually at other tanning salons I have to jump out early because of how good the bulbs are, not here. they say the bulbs are out because of Covid supply problems but I think that's an excuse because why wouldn't the other tanning salons have that problem with their bulbs ? and from what I read this has been an ongoing issue with bulbs being out for 2+ years here now that I'm on yelp reading reviews. Also, they have a huge sign inside that says $18.99 a month which when I got to the counter she said that was pre-Covid price and it was $39.99 a month for level 2 bed , isn't that false advertisement that they can't even take down their huge banners around the store???? Everyone seems truly genuine and happy when I'm Checking in for my visit. Keeping me up on all the specials or events that will be coming up. I like that South Beach cares about their clients, it really shows. The beds are always clean and give me a great tan. They have tanning levels 1 to 5 and spray tanning is available too. I love their spray tan, I use the clear spray, and the color always turns out very realistic. They will let you know how to prepare before hand and demonstrate before you use. I was a little nervous since I saw the "Friends" episode and was getting ready to leave on a cruise, lol :-) but no worries, I was real happy! read more

There are 4 face tanning bulbs, yet only 2 of them worked leaving with one side of my face tanned and one with nothing. Absolute ripoff. The new girl at the counter said she couldn't do anything about it but that someone would contact me. Yeaaa right. Not holding my breathe. Will NEVER return to this location. I have been a member of South Beach Tanning for two years now. I recently moved from Orlando and this was my first and LAST time going to this location. Although the staff was nice (back home the staff can be very rude) the equipment and supplies were in terrible condition. I got a sunless tan (spray tan) and a five minute stand up tan. The sunless machine had a heat lamp which really threw me off. The spray and air to dry me after wards was frigid. The heat lamp did nothing to help. To make matters worse there was a disgusting torn up rug you would see at the entrance of a circle K or dingy gas station. I don't my want bare feet touching that. I went to put one of the towels on the ground to dry my feet and stand on while I got dressed and found only tattered old towels. These towels should have been thrown away or used to clean rims at an auto spa. Not acceptable. They provided no hand sanitizer, wipes, or lotions in the sunless treatment room (all staples at multiple south beach salons in Orlando). Utterly disgusted and shocked I pay a flat rate every month for such a lack of quality. Now I have to find a new tanning salon or drive farther to a different south beach. read more

Beware!! the no contact, cancel anytime is a lie. If you sign up for membership when there is a promo which there is always a promo. The terms and conditions will say that there is a 3 month minimum required and a 30 day cancellation notice. Which means you are locked in for four months. Sounds like a contract to me. read more

I've been tanning at South Beach for at least 5+ years.... and until today I've been happy. I simply went in to tan in the bed and a spray..... normally once i tan i go STRAIGHT into the spray because of being in tan line.... but today this boy Brian had me wait because he didn't want the other girl to have to wait. Isn't the point of tanning prior to spraying tanning for your pores to be open and absurd more spray? And his excuse is he didn't want the girl to wait.... well now I'm to wait smfh. LOVE this place! The beds do seem to be a bit older but they still get the job done. The front desk staff are very nice and they explain in detail the beds, the membership and everything in between. This kind of custom service is rare to find! I pay $58.99 a month for unlimited tanning in a level 3 bed, it is a bit pricey compared to some other tanning companies but it's well worth it. Level 1 memberships are $18.99 though so it just depends on the level you need! They have tons of lotions to choose from and protective eye wear (which they make sure you have before they send you back to your room). There are radios in the rooms and you can turn it to whatever station suits your lifestyle. Would recommend! read more

Have been tanning for 20+ years and this place is the worst BY FAR. Condescending bitches all the way around along with being the ONLY tanning salon in Florida that follows the 24 hour tan rule. I've spoken with MANY salons about this and they all laughed and said they would never inconvenience the customer over mere minutes or a few hours in timing to tan. I would rather go elsewhere and even pay more than tan with a place where I have to completely rearrange my schedule in order to tan. I came here this week for a spray tan in the VersaSpa and it was fine but I have definitely experienced better. The good: The prices were great. A single visit for the Versa was $30 but they had a special going on that all tanning was $10. The not so good: I only tan in the VersaSpa and I am used to going in and have a cap to cover my hair, some little pads to stand on, and barrier cream. South Beach Tanning had none of those items, which I was very surprised by. I'm not sure if I went on an off day or if they never have these things. I personally wouldn't came back to this location because of those missing items. My tan came in great, it was cheap but I've had better (and cleaner). read more

I recently went here because my hubbie bought me a Groupon for some spray tans. I've been a member of other salons and I must say, they better up their anty, because South Beach Tanning Company is putting them to shame! Their store is clean, offers a variety of tanning lotions, tanning packages, and super friendly staff. The girl working took the time to explain their membership, tanning packages, bed options, etc. She was so friendly and then took me into the spray tan area since I wasn't familiar w/ the booth they had. This spray tan booth came w/ two options (one for a more natural look), free towels, free deodorant, and free sanitizer for your hands afterward so you didn't have Oompa Loompa hands. I think the price is a little high ($120 for 6 spray tan sessions), but you know that saying, "You get what you pay for"? You'll definitely get the service/friendliness/quality booths you're paying for here. read more

One thing I HATE more than anything is signing up for a service but not getting all the details up front. I signed up for a month membership here yesterday at 5:11 PM. I go in today to tan around 2:30 and was told I can't tan again until 5:11 PM tonight since I tanned yesterday at 5:11 PM and there is a 24 hour tan rule. I am not against rules and I understand why they're in place. But when I signed up yesterday I received no information on the policies of what I was signing up for. I was never told of a 24 hour tan rule. If I would have known that I would have waited 1 day and signed up the next day so I could tan at a time that was more convenient for me. Now I am stuck tanning every day after 5:11 PM unless I skip a day that I am PAYING FOR to get on a schedule that works for me. If there are going to be extra rule and policies that apply to a membership there you need to express these when people are signing up. Or, if your staff can't remember to do that then why don't you hand out a form regarding your rules and policies to people when they sign up? I only had to sign a form with my credit card info- that's the only thing you cared about when I signed up is making sure you get my money. Having rules in place are fine I get it but TELL PEOPLE what the rules are so they can be knowledgeable. I am not in your industry- you can't expect your clients to know every rule when it comes to tanning. That's why we go to reputable places so we can be made aware of such things. This is so irritating. When I expressed my irritation at the location all the girl could do was explain why the policy is in place and I GET IT but I just didn't know about it or I would have waited a day to sign up. I don't want to skip a day tanning as I am trying to get tan for an upcoming wedding. I wish I would have signed up elsewhere- where they would have gone over the rules/policies of my membership. I edited this review and added two more stars because the girl who works day shift Monday-Friday is very knowledgeable and helpful. I don't recommend signing up on a Sunday. Just make sure you ask a lot of questions before signing up and ask for copies of any paperwork you sign. This place is conveniently located and clean with nice beds. read more

I recently had a bad experience here. I bought a groupon for the spray tans. Used one at the south Tampa location and the tan came out the best ever-very even and nice color. I used my other spray tan at this location, in Brandon - the spray tan booth was older, I noticed the one in Tampa was updated and nicer, anyways they didn't have barrier cream or a hand towel in the room, first of all. Second, it was the worst spray tan ever. I won't go back to the Brandon location for a spray tan unless they get one like the south Tampa location. I was too embarrassed to call and ask for refund but really I should have! It was a waste of $15 read more

Then I was told to drive about 30 minutes away to another location. I did, but when I got to the other location, I was told I couldn't tan.... The staff is always friendly and I get the results I go in for... and that's a tan. The facility seems to be clean and compared to other quality salons I'd say it's on par. I don't think that the monthly charge of 40 bucks to use 3 beds and stand up isn't bad and again very much in line with other tanning salons I have been to. However, if you're cheap you can opt for the 20 bucks a month. If you want the best beds knock yourself out and get the best package. I personally think that the salon deserves more than two stars. Also, they go over the cancellation policy with everyone when you sign up. Most people don't understand the 30 day notice. I also think most people don't have good listening skills. I've signed up twice there because I cancelled and each time they went over the policy. If you think you have good listening skills and feel like you got robbed... well that's your own fault because you clearly don't have the capacity to remember what you were told months prior. I have actually heard a customer complain that she should be an exception to the cancellation since she didn't use the salon in 6 months. You could only imagine the satisfaction I had as a customer hearing the girls say to her, "so sorry, you signed a contract and agreed to the policy so you will pay for the extra month".
