South block is awesome for a healthy snack. It's hard in this area to find places that offer Acai/Pitaya bowls, so I'm glad that they do! They have a number of different options/toppings for bowls and drinks- I've tried a few and they're all great. I saw that they also have toast options on sprouted bread (my favorite!) I'd been wanting to try this place, and finally got the nutella acai bowl for breakfast this morning. Delicious! It was a pretty large portion too so definitely filling. I'd been holding off on trying this place just because the prices seemed a little crazy to me... But somehow I was more willing to spend it on a bowl than on a smoothie. That's the only reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5. I love the combos of ingredients and feeling like I'm filling my body with good nutrients. I used the app so I could order a few minutes ahead of time and then just grab my bowl when I walked in, so I didn't have to wait at all which is a big plus if I'm in a rush. I've been coming here for a couple years now and it's one of my favorite places to get an açaí bowl! My go to is the warrior bowl because of how refreshing it is. They also have the BEST granola and don't charge extra for it. I just found out about their app that you can order ahead on which is nice since I don't live super close. Tip: on your first order using the app use the promo code "kaleyeah" to get $5 off! 4/5 stars because sometimes they don't give you the same amount of smoothie in your bowl, it's not consistent which can be annoying since you're paying the same price and might get less. So glad they opened up a south block near my house! Perfect for something filling on the go or sit down (in the cool wooden bowls). These bowls are picture perfect (feeder for instagrams and snapchat's that will make your friends jealous). So yummy! The granola topped on each bowl is crunchy and the fruit is so fresh. Concept is great (why I patronize the chain) but this location was awful logistically - nothing, juice nor food, was pre-packaged or pre-made the day I was there, and everyone got routed through the ordering process, which was incredibly slow. There were literally 15 people waiting for their orders, and two people working on orders who looked like they needed help. It looks like a lot of other reviews have also noted issues with this location. No thank you. $10+ for a smoothie or bowl is too expensive for there to be problems. I wanted to like this location b/c it's close to my house, but I'll go to the Clarendon location instead, where service is quick and they have a whole separate shop specifically for juice orders. read more

I used to really enjoy this place and would frequent it a minimum of once a week. Last few times however, I've noticed they aren't as consistent with the portions. For $11 I don't need it to all be granola and it should be heaping full. There should be a generous portion of açaí, at least to the line that is on the container. I'm a big fan of the acai bowls at South Block - in particular the Warrior bowl. It's the perfect healthy, filling breakfast for me. The cafe shares its space with a yoga studio, and it can get particularly crowded on a Saturday or Sunday with a mix of yoga practitioners and the brunch crowd. Staff is friendly and the bowls come out quick 'n looking beautiful. They serve Counter Culture coffee these days which is a nice new addition to the menu. read more

I wasn't too impressed with this place. First off, the location is very hard to find. I was really looking forward to it since I was craving a delicious smoothie and really wanted to love it but I didn't. We ordered 3 smoothies, 1 of which is delicious, 1 was OK and the other not so much. They do not use fresh fruit, as we found a big chunk of frozen fruit in one of our smoothies. Sometimes a few banana chunks in smoothie....but today.....drinking half of my smoothie also consisted of swallowing multiple chucks of banana with every couple sips. The staff is friendly and attentive. They can handle a bunch of orders and you can call ahead and pick up. The store is linked to a yoga studio. Starting off I have to say these guys make good bowls, but for the price it's ridiculous. When I first started coming here the bowls were priced at $9 in the past year they have upped the price to $11 and the portions have only gotten smaller. Considering the fact that the fruit at this establishment is not organic I think the price should be a lot lower. Concluding the costumer service is terrible, one time I ordered on the south block app (which is crap, always glitching) it said order was being prepared. Got to the place nothing there I then showed them a screenshot of my order and they said they would make it for free then When I finally get my bowls 30 minutes later the women working says my payment "failed" and that I had to pay. This experience was ridiculous. I will not be going back there again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to Tropical Smoothie Cafe is in the same area cheaper (and has way better customer service.) read more

I loved knowing exactly what I was eating and appreciated the atmosphere and friendly service. Product is good, service is abysmal. Going in, you have to know that you're going to wait at least 10-15 minutes for a simple bowl after you order - on a good day. On a bad day, there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to the way orders come out - people behind you will get the same thing you ordered before you with no explanation or apparent reason. On a really bad day, they just won't ever make your order and you'll have stood there for 20 minutes with nothing to show for it unless you're willing to wait even longer for them to put you in line again to make it (I wasn't willing.) I'd been putting up with the glacially slow service because there isn't anything similar around, but I just won't be returning at all now. Not worth it. read more

The two ladies were very friendly and wished me a happy day! I had a craving for an açaí bowl and found South Block here on Yelp the night before. I ended up ordering the Magic Dragon Bowl after a good amount of time deliberating between all the options. It did NOT disappoint!!! The perfectly slushy like consistency was cooling and quite addictive. The granola sunk down into the cooled blend and gave a nice surprise of soft crunch in between the smooth bites. Fruit was beyond fresh and the coconut chunks were large enough to be complementing instead of stuck in your teeth! Website was easy to navigate, they clearly state prices, ingredients, and that they are a cash free business. No surprises other than how much i ended up loving this. First time at South Block & I got a Acai bowl(cavemen bowl). The bowl is usually a lot of bananas which don't agree with me so I asked for it w/out & replaced with blueberries & it was so delish.
