I stopped in at about 830am on a weekday morning, and it was surprisingly not busy at all. I ordered the Health Nut smoothie (regular size) with whey, and it was very very good. The consistency was just about perfect--so so smooth--until the end, when there was a huge chunk of banana left. That was disappointing, but aside from that, the smoothie itself was very good. That said, the staff were not friendly, and I didn't feel welcome at all, so instead of sitting inside, I left and sat outside once my smoothie was ready. Drove here for a late breakfast and was absolutely stunned on how good this was. There is plenty of parking behind and in front. (Free in back) the bowl was delicious. I got the pbj bowl and it was just the right portion size. Super filling. I will 100% be coming back. Is it a tad pricey? Yes. Finally visited this place after months of hearing all about it from my family. And I'm happy to report that it lived up to the hype! I had the "Evolution Bowl" [avocado (!!) and peanut butter base, mixed with almond "mylk," spinach, banana, and spirulina, and topped with cashews, goji berries, hemp, pollen, coconut, and honey], which, in addition to being super creative, was delicious and filling (though not as cold as a more "traditional" acai- or pitaya-based bowl). KALE YEAH! Came where when I was really craving a good green smoothie on my way to work, and my cravings were quickly satisfied! Fresh, high quality ingredients in a delicious mix that powered me through my day! I'm a huge fan of green juices, and many other places makes it in a juicing machine (aka bye bye healthy, beneficial fibers). But what South Black has is a healthy green smoothie. A handful of spinach and a handful of kale, all mixed with a variety of frozen fruits. It's still mostly vegetables, so you're not cheating your way with sugars. You'll find plenty of seating both inside and outside. There is also a console gaming corner! Though I'm not so sure what the console is, I didn't walk to closely to check it out. The atmosphere screams healthy and fun. Um, Kale Yeah! (That's their motto). I'm pretty sure that I'll be coming here on a more regular basis now. This place is the cutest! The aesthetic is what I LIVE for. But the açaí bowls are so YUM! The staff is super helpful if it's your first time (like it was mine). I went for the caveman açaí the dates in it give it an extra sweetness, I added honey and chia seeds at the counter. It was delicious and filling. The price was a tiny bit expensive but it was so delicious that I didn't even care but for that price you could buy a loaf of Ezekiel Bread, an avocado and some fruit from the store...buuuuut...it was delicious and I loved it! I love South Block -- I lived for a number of years by the Clarendon location and was a regular. Having since moved to EFC, I was excited when they opened this location. It's a great local company with a thoughtfully prepared, healthy, and delicious menu. The Super Green smoothie (with or without ginger) is my favorite, but I finally branched out and tried their smoothie bowls for the first time (the seasonal Spring Bowl) and now I'm hooked! Their espresso drinks are also great. I am so thankful to have a location close by -- it's always a treat to get something here, and the staff are so friendly and kind. I am so blessed that this opened up near me. Their smoothies and acai bowls are delicious. They are a little pricy but you're paying for the all natural and healthy fruits and veggies. They don't add sugar to their smoothies. Literally everything that's listed next to the smoothie is everything they blend up. It's great to not have to worry about all that sugary junk. If you aren't familiar with their bowls, pretty much it's a smoothie in a bowl and it's topped with fruits, granola, and other good stuff. My go to is the PBJ bowl!! Another perk to South Block is that they offer free chia seeds, agave nectar, and honey at their little counter!! It goes perfectly with their bowls. This South Block location is more spacious and cozier seating selections for studying and chatting with colleagues, compared to Arlington location, and offers a healthier short/long-term parking options. About 1/2 mile near the East Falls Church metro station, this South Block offers hightop communal tables and seating at the bar (near the cashier area). The free parking in the rear garage, although limited, makes it super easy if you cannot find a paid parking space on the street in front. The management and staffers are pretty laid back and helpful. They often offer samples of their "kombucha of the day" and have a self-serve mini-coffee station at the bar to tryout their Stumptown coffee. Sometimes the staffers can be a tad slow on service and letting consumers know if they are out of juices, smoothies, or other products - this is probably due to a shortage of staff and newbie training issues. Hopefully, these kinks will be workout overtime. The condiment bar offers raw and unfiltered honey, which we are a fan of. Not sure if I will try the cleanse program as I make a lot of juices myself, however if I want a fresh, 'juice-up' after a workout, this is a nice 'B' option. One thumb up. read more

South Block does a great job of creating great tasting juice at an affordable cost, as well as offering some really unique flavors! One of my favorite drinks that they offer is the Rehab superfood shake that is made with activated charcoal to detoxify the body. Not only are their drinks on point, but South Block also offers a wide variety of breakfast bowls and raw snacks. Currently, I am addicted to the Caveman Balls which are energy bites made out of dates, nuts, maple syrup and vanilla. Altogether, South Block Co. does things right. The staff seem to lack in energy, enthusiasm and just don't seem to want to be there or help you. It's a must in anyone's diet who takes any type of medication The in store was a little disappointing for a juice shop. They couldn't add items like activated charcoal in the juice there. Some juice places do. They only had wheat grass shots. There are many type of shots out there. There is one, it's basically an upgrade of wheatgrass, can't remember the name. Like the space and the menu offerings, but think the options are expensive. I tried the Health Warrior and found the smoothie far too sweet; I was only able to get through half before throwing it away. Also, the online menu lists whey or hemp protein as options for the Health Warrior, but I didn't see hemp on the store menu and paid $1.25 (!!) for a plant based protein. I would still recommend that people give it a shot because I love the idea of supporting local businesses. read more

I question the reviews that are 5 stars. Several them, when read out loud, seem to be written by the same author. That aside, the patrons next to us (this morning) ordered a muffin for their child. READ EDIT TO REVIEW: Ok, I love all south blocks and haven't had much of an issue but this was the second time I used the Falls church location. I was really disappointed with my product-I got the pbj açaí bowl- and it was sooo melted. It was basically juice. I didn't notice upon initially being handed the bowl, so once I got to the car, I was so bummed. I didn't have time to get another one made because I had to zoom to work- but I'm really sad this happened. The first time I visited, my bowl was a little liquidy and after this second time I guess it's a trend. I'd like to say I had a good experience but Clarendon location blows this out of the water. I know it's supposed to be a smoothie bowl but this was smoothie soup, with all of my toppings sunk to the bottom. EDIT: Amir reached out to me with an apology and an offer of a coupon for a new smoothie bowl. As a really poor college student, this made my day. Customer service makes ALL the difference, and I can truly say that this South Block location is just as good as the rest. Everyone has an off day(s)! Oh, and their juices are good - taste equivalent to Jrink, but not as many juice options. They did have a CBD infused shot drink, which I did take a pic of. Awesome smoothie bowls!! I ordered the PBJ bowl which was topping with fresh fruit and granola, it was awesome! I loved that they had honey, chia seeds and other toppings you can add yourself to your bowl. We also split a piece of the avocado toast which was delicious! This place is really good. They got some delicious smoothies and acai bowls. Now if you haven't had an acai bowl before definitely try this place first. They do it right. I went to one place and the fruits were blended in but southblock places all the fruit on top just above the granola. And the acai purée smoothie part is delicious as always. Staff is great. Location is tucked away just off the highway. Short story long, if you want a healthy snack that also tastes amazing. Check out south block for sure. read more
