So far I have only been to this bakery once, but I liked it a lot, and I personally think that the prices are decent. I had the Vietnamese style iced coffee and a sesame seed ball filled with mung bean paste, and I liked both. BEST EGG TART I'VE HAD IN A WHILE. Also, FYI - CASH ONLY if your order is under $10. I stopped by with my roommate since she heard good things about this bakery. I wasn't sure what to get so I just got my usual - egg tart. They were golden yellow with a smooth and reflective surface... so appetizing. It was $2.04 after tax but the lady was nice enough to just take $2 since I didn't have coins. I ate this about an hour later and while the crust wasn't crispy (which is fine), the CUSTARD WAS DELICIOUS. It had more of an "omph" to each bite and I love how creamy it was. I'm not good with words, so it's hard to describe - you really should just try it to find out! It's also not too sweet, which I like. Given the many positive reviews I was disappointed. I was excited to try the vegetarian bao and it was a real letdown - an enormous, doughy bao with little not-very-tasty vegetable filling. In hindsight I'm thinking it would have been better if I'd had a sauce to dip in but I'm not sure if anyone else eats them that way, probably not since it wasn't suggested or offered as an option. My partner got a 4-pack of sponge cakes, which he said were good though nothing special. It was a little chaotic during the Moon Festival, other customers were very pushy so if you didn't know exactly what you wanted fast you weren't going to make any friends there. The best I can say for it is the prices, comparatively the best of any I saw anywhere that I tried at the Eden Center. Located in the incredible Vietnamese Plaza at Eden in Falls Church and this place is as cheap as it is spectacular. Really nice service as well. A girl walking by here gave me the eye, like she wanted to have sex with me. It was a "Phuoc Look." The drinks for me are the lowlight whereas the fried bananas were the incredible highlight - and everything else they make is pretty much damn amazing as well. Be careful with their food, I received spoiled yogurt from them, bought 3 and all 3 were bad. I ate it as soon as I got home, so they must have sold it when it was already bad. They do not label their food items with the dates like other places, especially the ones in the fridge. Person checking out was also rude and slammed my credit card on the counter whereas she was nice to another customer who paid cash, so it appears there is some bias. This place is solid for taking care of a bao craving! I actually like that their buns don't have as much meat in them, but the ratio is a bit off. I've tried their roast bbq bao baked and steamed, and I've always been partial to baked buns but these steamed buns are amazing too! I also appreciate that they have sesame balls here on the regular. I wish they had red bean ones but they only usually carry the Vietnamese mung bean variety, which are still delicious! They serve other items in their refrigerator and freezer, and they have sandwiches, tofu and chicken options. I'll have to come by when I don't have a specific craving so I try other things! I've been here throughout the years and they had decent baked goods, but I guess quality has been going down. On my most recent trip just stopped by and grabbed a custard and pork bun. When I got home to eat them, realized the lady gave me stale buns and the dough was dry and crumbly instead of soft and moist, at least a few days old. BUYER BEWARE! Make sure the buns aren't hard to the touch when you buy. I thought this was a very cheap and low ball thing to do. With so many other good bakeries nearby, I will not be going back. read more

Another pit stop on a spontaneous trip to Eden Center in Nova! A friend of ours guided us to this little bakery near the edge of Eden Center where we ordered some pate chaud, egg tarts, and a variety of jellies. The pate chaud was filled with chicken (kind of unique since the others I saw at other places were filled with pork). Really flavorful, with a good flaky crust. My dad tried some when I brought it home and absolutely LOVES it. The egg tarts were very light in flavoring with a well formed fluffy crust. So good and not too sweet which I really appreciated. I also got some jellies - cacao & pandan flavored and lychee & pandan flavored. Bought the cacao & pandan for a friend so didn't get to try it but the lychee & pandan was worth the impulse buy. I'm surprised I haven't stopped by this bakery sooner. They're tucked in the corner of Eden Center (near Thanh Son Tofu), but can also be accessed through the Saigon West Mall entrance. Banh Trang Tron: Finally! Phuoc Loc Bakery is the only place in the area I've been to so far that makes Banh Trang Tron. It has a spicy kick to it, and comes with pork floss, dried shrimp, fried garlic, fried onions, and jerky among other savory toppings. It is plentiful enough to share with at least 5 people. The downside is that since its pre-made/pre-mixed, the rice paper is basically chewy. It's still good, but it doesn't have that soft texture you'd hope for. I was also able to try 2 types of Banh Bao they offer--the combination (pork, mushroom, Vietnamese sausage, and egg) and the other with just sausage and egg one; I bought 3 of each. All of the buns I received were large and fresh, while the filling for each one was plentiful and tasty. They have a solid variety of Vietnamese snacks and treats available--from banh bot loc and smoothies to various baked goodies, desserts, and fried tofu. I'd love to see them offer other items that other places in Eden Center don't such as Banh Trang Nuong or maybe Banh Duc Tom Chay. read more

The sticky rice I like but the boba drink was not as good. I specifically ordered the Thai Tea boba drink. Thai Tea itself a bit watered down taste and boba came out HARD! The other half had a smoothie and she liked that one much better. They have a $10 minimum policy if you are using credit cards. My order came out to $9.87 and they refused to take my credit card haha...I barely had enough to pay them cash! I was actually short a few cents but it looked like they prefer that so they took it! =P From my observations, everything they sell look to be of good quality and I would come back and try other snacks. I wouldn't do any boba drinks again though (at least ask them to NOT include the boba and perhaps do jellies instead!). read more

Came here for the drinks! It was definitely a very small and narrow bakery and deli... also a way to get inside the mall to get to the other shops. We ordered a pineapple-mango smoothie with tapioca pearls and a strawberry-pineapple smoothie with tapicoca pearls. The lady notified me that where wasnt enough pineapple for the strawberry smoothie but offered to replace the pineapple with mango and asked me if that was okay. I agreed. They made the smoothies and were not cheap on tapioca pearls like other places. And they sealed them like on the west coast! Each was about 4.00. Delicious fruity and love then chewy pearls. The bonus was that they made an little extra of the strawberry mango smoothie and gave us a small cup for our toddler. Out of all the spots in VA I've tried, this spot has the best little sticky rice wrapped coconut steamed in a banana leaf. It's incredible. They come in a small pyramid. Theirs is somehow super flavorful with the banana leaf flavor seeping through the sticky rice. It's heavenly. read more

After my usual fill of Pho at Hai Duong (my favorite Pho haunt) around the corner in the Eden Center west, I stopped in the bakery to comparison shop with other spots I frequent at Eden Center. This bakery has a long, narrow layout, where a glass-protected counter houses trays of sweets, sticky rices, sesame balls, and pate chaud. There are also a number of packaged, prepared items for sale including jelly deserts, cured meats, buns and cakes. I picked up a selection of items including (1) sesame balls, (2) taro cake, (3) stuffed dumpling buns (Banh Bao) and (4) pate chaud (meat pie). These items often serve as breakfast food for me during the week. Since this place is small it was very easy to have a discussion with the staff at the counter about what each item was. They advised me against getting a desert with jelly around cooked yellow bean because it doesn't last more than a day on the kitchen counter (and I had wanted to keep it for three days). They gave me descriptions of items. This was very helpful to me as I don't speak Vietnamese yet would like to try different and unfamiliar items. In general, the taste of the goodies I brought home was fantastic: The Taro Cake is perfectly not-too-sweet. The crust of the Pate Chaud, a meat pie is terrific. The pork-based filling, delicious. I shared with a friend. Sesame balls, always a hit with me Bahn Bao: sweet fluffy bread baked around delicious filling (both vegetarian and not) I felt like the shop had pleasant staff (especially the nice young man behind the counter who spoke English). In this "little Vietnam" it always feels good to have a little translation services to make you feel comfortable that you are understand the food and culture. There's about 5 main bakeries in Eden center and I would say 3 of them have cornered a specific niche of the market, i.e., Kim Phung with its birthday cakes and pandan flavored items, Huong Binh with it's regional-Central Vietnamese cuisine, and Thanh Son with it's tofu and sticky rice. Phuoc Loc and Saigon bakeries seem to offer the general/generic Vietnamese bakery/deli goods like smoothies, drinks, suong sa, banh, etc. Overall, the products sold here are very good but not super impressive nor amazing. Stopped by not too long ago, and now they have a fan! There was about an hour left until closing and there were a couple of desserts still available. I wasn't intending on having anything, but it's a good thing that I did! The egg tart was to my liking. The eggy flavor was strong and it was properly sweetened. The pastry bottom was slightly underdone, but still flaky enough to enjoy. At $1.40 a pop, it is cheaper than other egg tarts I've had. Not a luxurious egg tart, but one that does the job of satisfying a sweet craving. Their fried banana was also delicious. I had it the next day (must re-bake to get the crunchy exterior) and yes, it was exactly what I wanted. Ripe banana coated in a crisp flour. Delicious. If you've never had it before, I'd recommend trying it out! It can get very addicting. I'm already craving these two now.. I should have gotten more than one of each! This is, hands down, the best bubble tea joint and bakery in the Eden Center. I know those are big damn words for the Eden Center, but hear me out: Phuoc Loc is a small bakery in the corner of the Eden Center. For all intents and purposes, it's yet another Vietnamese ostensibly-family-run place serving Vietnamese baked goods, sandwiches, tofu, and bubble tea. And it is all AWESOME. Hands-down. Better than all the other places in the Eden Center - trust me, I know, I tried them all. The Thai tea bubble tea sold here is basically an orgasm in a cup. Everything else is equally awesome. Phuoc Loc also sells a noodles-and-fish dish in a small Styrofoam container that is pure awesomeness, especially for brunch. Their pandan roll (a light, airy sort of baked roll with cream in the middle) is probably the best baked good in the Eden Center. While I would recommend every single thing in this store without hesitation, one cannot go wrong with a Thai tea bubble tea and a pandan roll to share. And, to top it all off, the people working here are NICE - they recognize us and even know our typical order. That's just awesome. read more

Go-to bubble tea place at Eden! They come in bigger cups for the same prices as Song Que or Thanh Son. Love the coconut, lychee, thai iced tea and strawberry flavors and I like getting them with jelly not boba. Prices are $3.50 for one but they come in larger cups. The bakery items are also delicious. My favorite are the fried bananas, not necessarily plantains but just deep fried bananas called chuoi chien. Ask for them! The one thing I hate hate hate about this place is how small it is. Like if there's more than 10 people, your stuck! It's extremely narrow and luckily, I'm not THAT fat because I would not be able to squeeze through people to get out the door. If your claustrophobic, you might not want to even look in here. But please come for the bubble tea, everything is squeezed right in front of you, nothing is powered, they use real fruits and all the ingredients are fresh! read more

I've been wanting to try out Phuoc Loc Bakery for a while, as I've heard a lot about their fresh smoothies. This is located in the Saigon West building (where they also have a plethora of other eateries), the small bakery offers baked goods (steamed buns, breads, fried doughnuts, cakes, and pan-fried tofu), as well as fruit/bubble tea/coffee/juice beverages (Lychee, Mungbean, Pineapple, Honey Dew, Jackfruit, Sousop, Mungbean & Penny Leaf, Durian, Taro, etc.). I only ordered their Taro and the Lychee, both smoothie-style (requesting only little tapioca balls) - the Taro was very grainy and more watered down (I believe there was too much ice); I wasn't a fan of their version. The Lychee was definitely better of the two, as it had more of the lychee juice, making it more sweeter and an icee, rather than a 'smoothie.' The tapioca balls were not fresh, but frozen, and a little too goopy for my taste :P Just be aware that there are two lines by the cashier - those who want to order the desserts, and the other line that wants to order just the beverages. They have stuff like boba, buns, some jelly drinks that I saw in the fridge, and all kinds of pastries and breads. When I came here a few days ago, the roast pork buns did not taste as good as I remember them to be. This batch definitely had way too much pepper in them...like an absurd amount so hopefully my buns will be back to normal next time. The green tea cake rolls was really tasty. A good dessert for any meal without too much guilt because it is so light and fluffy. Came here for fresh boba and it is good. I always get the Sugar Cane boba and my husband gets the Thai Ice Tea boba. I don't know any other place where they would go in the back, pull out a fresh sugar cane like a 2x4 on their shoulder and press it through a machine for FRESH JUICE! It is so good, especially on a hot summer day. The Thai Ice Tea was creamy and not overly sweet. A must for boba when you're in Eden Center. Hey yo. The family owned bakery here at Eden Center is one of my favorites. I visit here every time I'm in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area, because I know I can get authentic Vietnamese snacks, drinks, and delicacies here. I haven't had much exposure to the culture-specific snacks besides the foods I've been experienced in restaurants. Thus, I was adventurous enough to try one of their wraps, which ate this past weekend. Inside, it contained sticky rice, mung beans, and pork wrapped in banana/bamboo leaves (or something similar). This was PHOnomenal! It reminded me of jung/zongzi, a similar looking sticky rice treat. The Vietnamese iced coffee was also off the phook! A small cup with aloe jelly got me wide awake and feeling ready to conquer the world. Because of the other reviews, I am tempted by the thought of trying out their pandan swiss roll the next time I'm here.
