This is an honest one man shop with reasonable prices. I had an issue with my brakes making a whining noise ever since another shop in Southie changed my brakes/rotors about 2 years ago and recently had them inspected and was told the pads were well worn already. I gave Will a call on Friday afternoon and was able to get my car in to him right after I got off work for him to take a look and later that evening he gave me his assessment and recommendations. He only suggested what needed to be changed and was transparent about what work I'd need to do if I didn't change certain parts depending on if I were going to keep the car for long term vs short term. I opted to go for a full change in pads/rotors anyways and he was able to fit me in and get my car back in my hands within 24 hours. I believe he works on a lot of fleet vehicles so I would suggest calling ahead to see his availability as I may have just been lucky it wasn't as busy at the time. It has been about a month since my car was serviced and the brakes have been working much better than the last time they were changed and also no whining noted. Will was friendly, knowledgeable, and he was patient in answering any questions to make sure I felt comfortable with what we'd discussed. Had some issues with my Jeep Grand Cherokee engine. I was originally considering taking it into a Jeep dealership, but I had very little patience for their high-priced/ high-BS games, so I started looking for a smaller repair shop. I'm glad I did... Will (shop owner/mechanic) was able to fix the engine issues, which turned out to be a few blown spark plugs/ fuel injectors, and get my Jeep back up 'n running again. He managed to get ahold of some necessary OEM parts pretty quickly, too, despite there being a backorder from the main dealers. The cost estimate Will originally quoted me and the final cost were more than reasonable, and a much better value vs going to a Jeep dealer. We are so grateful to this shop!! We were sitting in the line of cars waiting to move my son into a dormitory. After sitting with hazards on, in the heat, stopping and starting, all of the sudden it would not start. We (wrongly) concluded it wasn't the battery, and called AAA for a tow, then starting calling shops in the area. Other shops listened to our situation and said we could have it towed to them, but this was Saturday noon and they weren't going to be open much longer. We had traveled from out of town, so this was a potentially disastrous situation. Never over charges and helps break it down to see which repairs are critical versus optional so it's less stressful financially. This is the most unprofessional auto shop I have ever been to! They are rude and inconsiderate! I made an appointment with the owner to have an install done a week prior and the day of the appointment the owner just called and said he would not work on my car and didn't give me any reason at all! I tried to ask and he said he didn't have time. Mind you the appointment was made a week in advance! Also he let me know this AFTER I had already dropped off my car that morning! I had been told by another business that all four breaks and pads needed to be replaced, so I was gearing up for an expensive venture to have them all fixed. When I brought my car to Will at South Boston Auto, he told me I only needed my front breaks replaced and some new filters and wipers, and threw in the wipers for free! I told Will I was planning to sell my car, and he let me know if I needed a referral or a professional to sign off on the up-keep that has been done on my car, he would be more than happy to do that for me. I showed up, his dog was barking and would not stop, I then proceeded to ask him if he does oil changes and then he told me, a white guy, that he doesn't do oil changes? Yet he's an auto mechanic?, I don't recall his shop saying he only works on TESLA'S?!, Not only that but on his yelp site it clearly states as a SERVICE 'OIL CHANGE' ? Most places (even the ones with good reviews) were rude and made it seem like I was doing them a favor by wanting to bring my car in. Most importantly, he was transparent about the work I would need done asap, what could wait for a later date, and how much everything would cost. Amazing service. Called ahead for an appointment to check out a new rattling noise. Dropped it off in the morning and a few hours later got a call that the noise was fixed! Not only that, but they also gave me a report on the rest of the car including fluids, battery level, brakes, tires, etc. This was super helpful information that I didn't even ask for! The labor costs were very reasonable and they didn't even charge me for the parts to fix the loose undercarriage shield that was causing the rattling. Extremely nice and accommodating employees. how i live my life is simple. i am very loyal to my brands, gas stations, men, and mechanics. My previous mechanic was with me for about 8 years, before i felt that he was taking advantage of my niceness and lack of understanding motor vehicles. I left him, and got introduced to Will, and it's been a wrap since then! Will has serviced my first car, a Nissan Pathfinder and now, my Nissan Murano. He is very speedy, fair in pricing, if anything, he under charges and should charge more for the work that he does for his clients. The quality of his work far exceeds my expectations. My car was making a weird thumping noise and when I brought it in to Will, he took a look at it for me and very quickly figured out the problem: it was my rear brakes. I called South Boston Auto Tech after my car started making intermittent noise while in motion and idling on top of the car feeling slightly "off" while driving around curves. Thankfully, Will was able to fit me in the day after I called. I dropped the car off in the morning and met with Will, explaining the problems to the best of my ability. Will called me a little over an hour later and broke down my issues, starting with the more urgent safety issue (wheel bearing replacement) and then moving on to a recommended fix but less urgent (loose heat shield). He also provided the cost to fix the more urgent issue and then the cost to fix both. I opted to get both fixed and Will told me what time the car would be ready. I showed up about 10 minutes early because my co-worker offered me a ride back to the garage, and Will was just wrapping up with a final test drive after the fix. It is a rare thing to find a car repair place w/ nearly unanimous 5-star reviews. In this case, they are well-deserved. I've brought my 2004 VW Golf in twice for a check engine light (and routine service) and ended up having to get a couple of repairs. I'm an idiot when it comes to cars, and Will takes the time to explain what's going on and what needs to be done to fix it. Both times it was very reasonable (I've definitely seen higher hourly labor rates at other shops) and done in a timely manner. The shop is clean, they are incredibly flexible about scheduling, they are thorough, and they follow through. Plus, Will and his colleagues are, by far, the friendliest repair guys around. All of them are helpful, sincere, and just-plain-nice--and it seems to come from Will's example. I had an engine light that kept going on and off and it turned out to be a tricky diagnosis, but they seemed to take it as a personal challenge to figure out what was going on w/ the car. They eventually succeeded and replaced a sensor thing. A few days later the light came back on and they took it back immediately and replaced the new part with another new one from a different manufacturer to see if that would work (it did)--free of charge. They are also honest and don't do things that don't need to be done. Will has brought up a couple of small things that might eventually have to get fixed/replaced but has suggested we wait until completely necessary (they aren't things that could be dangerous, obviously). He could have easily told me anything and I would have had him do the work since I'm clueless. Both times I've had routine maintenance they let me know that one of the fluids was fine and didn't need filling, which saved me a couple bucks each time. Again, they could have charged me for filling them and I never would have known it was unnecessary, but they didn't. So, in a nutshell: Bring your finicky foreign car to these guys. They'll get it fixed and treat you right. read more

I request you to not go here for any kind of repairs. The owner's name is Will and he will trick you for more money. I took my car here when it broke down since it was the nearest auto repair available. This guy basically told me that the engine has a problem and it is wise to replace the entire engine rather than opening it and repairing the components inside it which may run or fail again. And he would not be clear as to what exactly is the problem. He would tell me that it would cost $2700 for a used engine and labor, which he said that he will order himself and would not do just labor if i order the engine. He charged me $195 for just running some tests which he says was mechanical and gave me in writing, there was no proof he did anything to my car and was very rude when i told him that i would tow my car back. Basically very unprofessional and He was talking out of common sense. My car was smoky and the engine had overheated due to radiator problem and coolant leakage. I came to know this when i took the car to another auto repair guy. I would say, don't go here at all if you like your car and dont want to unnecessarily screw up a good car. I was in the area when my clutch suddenly stopped functioning (I couldn't put it in gear or take it out of gear when the car was turned on). After 5pm, I thought it was doubtful I would find a mechanic who would look at it, but I called these guys and they were super friendly (and open!). Will took a look, asked a few questions, and made an adjustment to the pedal that was enough to get me home and have the part replaced by my own mechanic. Thank u Yelp! I now have a "go 2" mechanic that I can say I actually trust! I was in need of an honest mechanic (do they exist?!) wen the dreaded CHECK ENGINE light came on. Brought it 2 a local mechanic who told me it was the throttle body on the engine, quoted me $700 (YIKES) 4 the part alone not including labor! I decided 2 get on YELP and c if I can get a 2nd opinion... The great reviews brought me 2 South Boston Auto Tech so I decided 2 give him a call. Rite away I got a good feeling from him and the on point info he was telling me, he told me $700 was crazy and that he was certain he could get the part and labor done 4 under $400! I thought amazing if he could bcuz we all kno other mechanics draw u in w a price and bump it up wen they call! So I brought my car in the next day and waited 4 "the call"! Wen Will called the price he gave was UNDER $400! YESSSSS UNDER $400! I couldn't believe it an honest mechanic, was this 2 good 2 b true?! NOPE! Picked my car up the very next day and it's runs like new, AMAZING!!!! I did need another part taken care of so total was still less than the 1st mechanic quoted me 4 1 part no labor!
