I figured that the slow oil leak finally gave out with the cold weather and the gasket blew in the engine. I honestly figured I would be scrapping my car today. After walking over and talking to one of the mechanics, Jerry. He told me to pull my car around and he would check it out for me today and give me a call if it's fixable or not worth it (I told him I didn't really want to put money into the car). He said they were super busy today but he will squeeze me in. Once I got there he asked if I could hang for a few min to diagnose the car and checked it out immediately. After lifting the car and checking everything they realized it was a clogged oil filter. It was so clogged that oil wasn't passing through and some of it was leaking everywhere. When they removed it I think a few of the guys got covered in oil (I kinda felt bad to be honest but they all laughed it off). Because oil got everywhere they also proceeded to clean underneath my car with some foam stuff and then ran it a little to burn what was left off. They were incredibly funny, helpful, patient, personable and honest. I spoke mostly to Jerry and the gentleman inside at the register who was also amazing. Even though I live 30 min from here and they helped me in a pinch, I will definitely bring my car back if anything else goes wrong. Service was incredible.

After dropping my car off, I received an electronic invoice with a cost estimate and detail of services. You have to electronically accept or decline the services on the invoice before they start working on the car. This is super helpful and transparent. While inspecting my car during the oil change, they discovered my car needed additional work. They sent an updated invoice with the estimated cost and details of the recommended additional work, as well as pictures. Same thing, you have to accept or decline before they proceed. The reason I trust that to be the truth is that he invited me into the garage to see the damage for myself - it was completely rusted. I had an issue with my brakes making a…read morewhining noise ever since another shop in Southie changed my brakes/rotors about 2 years ago and recently had them inspected and was told the pads were well worn already. I gave Will a call on Friday afternoon and was able to get my car in to him right after I got off work for him to take a look and later that evening he gave me his assessment and recommendations. He only suggested what needed to be changed and was transparent about what work I'd need to do if I didn't change certain parts depending on if I were going to keep the car for long term vs short term. I opted to go for a full change in pads/rotors anyways and he was able to fit me in and get my car back in my hands within 24 hours. I believe he works on a lot of fleet vehicles so I would suggest calling ahead to see his availability as I may have just been lucky it wasn't as busy at the time. It has been about a month since my car was serviced and the brakes have been working much better than the last time they were changed and also no whining noted. Will was friendly, knowledgeable, and he was patient in answering any questions to make sure I felt comfortable with what we'd discussed. However the quote changed when i went to pick it up. It came out to around 2.6k . The part itself is between 100-150 dollars online, so apparently i am paying for the entire service centers groceries all week!. The best part is they didnt even replace the entire catalytic converter, only half of it, then telling me the other half I should keep an eye on as its starting to rot. I was beyond livid. A few years before this, They did work on one of my tires and lost my hubcap, didnt replace it or give me any money for it. I went to Sullivans in Plymouth for decades, they were always good with service, this Sullivans is horrific and will nickle and dime you, lie to you and take you for everything you've got ; just check the other reviews. I am a local and make damn sure to tell people never to go here. They are a stain on the neighborhood.

A few hours after leaving the car, I got a call explaining what repairs were needed, and also what maintenance was recommended, with a very clear explanation of both, and a price for each. The repairs were completed the next day. Everyone was friendly, helpful and efficient, and I was delighted to learn that Sullivan Tire is an employee-owned business. Then it got even better. My check-engine light came on again, after just a few miles of driving. I called the shop and again, I got an appointment right away. They addressed the problem immediately, test drove the car, and had it back to me within a couple of hours. And there was no charge. This is my garage from now on!
