Don't let the strip mall location - even if it is a super fancy mall - fool you! We stopped in late night for dessert (after a Yelp search for the best dessert place by our hotel), but the menu looked so good we decided to try an appetizer too. We ordered a pork belly appetizer, orange ricotta pound cake a la mode, and Key Lime pie from the owner's family's recipe. While we were waiting we had a chance to take in the modern interior and the classic patio seating. The place was bustling! A piano man was setting up on the patio for the late night crowd and the attentive wait staff was always on the move. It is loud inside, but the acoustics are such that tables of 2 and 4 can hear each other just fine. Speaking of chatting... Paul was our server and he did a great job discussing menu items and alternate choices. He explained the menu was in transition (new season, new pastry chef) and that made us wish we'd be in town long enough to check out the upcoming offerings! The food was great, as most of the other reviews have noted. The thing I liked best - which was a late minute add on, thanks to Paul - were their Arancini rice balls. So here is the story - I went to Southfork the beginning of December with a friend and we had a good meal, I met and asked the owner if I could make reservations for Christmas Eve and could the restaurant make a vegan meal for my wife. The owner said absolutely and that would be no problem at all. So I made reservations for 7:15 for Christmas Eve - we arrived at approximately 7:10 and the manager by the name of Farrol told us that we were next for a table so we went to the bar for a drink. The bartender was great - her name was Jessica and she was the best experience of the evening. When we finally sat down at 8pm ( we saw other people being seated before us) we asked the waiter for the vegan options that were advertised on the special holiday menu they had. The waiter said, " sorry no vegan options tonight - do you all want to leave?" Well it's 8:15 pm on Christmas Eve - what other options do we have? So my wife had to settle for a small basic salad and we told the manager ( Farrol ) at the end of the meal and he just said it has been a problem all night with having no Vegan options even through they are clearly advertised on the special holiday menu. I told him the owner assured me that there would be meal options for my wife and he just said I apologize. They were also out of other meal choices on the menu and they were very unwilling to substitute any sides of the meals. So the whole evening with my family was nothing but NO NO NO along with a very expensive tab! We are not excited about ever going back. read more

Stopped for lunch by myself. First time here and overall happy with the experience. Had a very good cocktail called south fork iced tea. The strawberry spinach salad was also very good although too small even for my reasonable appetite. Also a little too much dressing for me. You might want to get the dressing on the side. I have been there twice recently within a two week period. It was fantastic the first time. The second time the same meal was fair. The recipe was different. In the past I have also had their mussels and they were excellent. This time the mussels weren't good. The broth wasn't the same. It didn't have a developed flavor...just some tomato purée with onion in it. However our waitress was excellent. read more

It was the second time I was here in 2 weeks. Excellent Wedge salad!!! The lettuce was crisp, the crumbly blue was awesome, could of used a little more bacon but I'm a bacon addict. The fresh bread they bring out is warm and fresh. I ordered seared scallops for my meal, nice, large, perfectly seared!! . Then we had coffee to finish the experience off. I was a little depressed that the espresso machine wasn't working because we were really looking forward to their hot chocolate that is supposedly really good. We had been looking to try this place out for a while since we usually pass by when we're visiting Coconut Point. After waiting nearly 15 minutes for our waitress to stop by our table to fill our water glasses- we made the mistake of asking for a cocktail menu. She disappeared for a while to bring us one. We decided to put our full order in all at once since we didn't know when our server would be back again. My food was great. Mussels served in marinara with cooked onion slices and garlic for an app and a delicious braised short ribs for main entree. Wife's meal was mundane. Beet salad with little to no goat cheese and squash that needed to be cooked a little further. Her chicken Milanese was weird. The breading on the chicken had a strange texture and was not crispy as Milanese should be. It was also strangely served with giant steak fries. The dish also desperately needed some acid. Most Milanese are served with lemon. Overall the food was fine the biggest issue we had was our server. After finishing cocktails during our appetizers we never once saw her again to try and order wine to go with dinner. After waiting a good 10 to 15 minutes longer our entrees came out from a good runner. We asked for our waitress so we could order drinks with dinner. Never saw her. I was on my final bites of food when she finally came back to check on us. After ordering wine she returned and gave us the wine that was meant for the table next to us... wrong drinks. After a series of missteps and lots of waiting we decided to call it and handed her our debit card to close the check. It wasn't until we left the restaurant that we noticed she double charged us and put the other table's wine on our bill in addition to our's. We tried calling the restaurant 8 or 9 times each ... the phone just rings. No pick up, no message system. Pretty disappointed in this experience. There are plenty of great restaurants to enjoy in the area. This won't be one of them for us. read more

I always search out places that aren't chains and serve quality food and I love South Fork! I am in the area for just a few months and have been a few times and sat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly and really great, I wish I knew names to give them props. Good atmosphere in general and amazing food! We had our first dinner there after being recommended but will never return because of two reasons. When I went to pay with a gift debit card and my my own credit card for the balance, they told me they don't accept anyone else's gift of debit card but their own. How absurd. Never happened to me anywhere else that a company wouldn't accept a cash debit card. The second reason was the dinner was very small compared to the same dish elsewhere. First time at this restaurant. Wasn't sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews. The menu looked enticing. Sat at the bar since I was by myself. There were others at the bar. Was greeted by the bartender, Amanda. She was amazing. Friendly, personable, and attentive. Made me feel welcomed right away. Many items looked good on the menu. I missed out on the early bird Menu. 2 Entrees and a bottle of wine for $35. The Prefix menu looked good too. I asked Amanda if I should get the Grouper or Shrimp Diavlo. She suggested the Grouper, which was a lighter dish. Unless I wanted a pasta dish. I chose the Grouper. Great choice. Served with Risotto and sauteed vegetables topped with a Burre Blanc sauce. The 1st bite and every bite after was delectable. The Grouper was cooked to perfection. The Burre Blanc sauce had a lemon zest to it. Although I think some Capers on top would have added a hint of saltiness to the sauce. Served on top of Risotto and the perfect portion of julienned vegetables, it was a fantastic, mouth watering dish. After dinner, I inquired about dessert. Amanda recommended the Chocolate Brownie ala Mode or the Key Lime Pie. I chose the latter and boy, was I glad I did. The pie was delicious. Amanda kept everyone at the bar laughing. The outdoor seating is great (why such a lack of outdoor seating in Estero/Fort Myers?). In my opinion, the pan roasted salmon should be the first menu item on your list. My husband and I stopped in for lunch today around 11:30. We were politely greeted and seated immediately. We were offered the choice of inside or outside seating and chose to sit inside because it was windy. The restaurant wad maybe 1/3 full. Mostly ladies lunching. The waitress took a little longer than she should have. We had time to decide on drinks and meals by the time she arrived. We both chose to just drink water. The waitress informed us of the soup and quiche of the day. I ordered the lobster roll with sweet potato fries and my hubby ordered the South Fork salad, no tomatoes, add chicken. The food also took longer than I thought it should. Portions were small. My lobster roll was really good, just a bit small. My sweet potato fries portion was appropriate, though. My husband's salad was a bit small but his portion of chicken was decent (maybe 4 oz(?)). He said it tasted good. When we got the bill, the upcharge for putting chicken on the salad was SEVEN DOLLARS! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! That's ridiculous. The salad cost $9. Not worth the cost. Service was slow. We love South Fork Grille, however tonight was a huge disappointment. We had out of town guests and ordered our favorite, Chicken Milanese to go. The salad as not packaged separately as in the past so it was a hot mess of greens on top of the chicken, that was now soggy. We were so embarrassed. Dined at the South Fork Grille with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, the staff at South Fork did not seem to appreciate our patronage. Specifically, order modifications were requested due to meal preferences. Beyond the fact that these modifications were well within the realm of possibility (merely swapping one side for another), the waitress seemed to be very amenable to these changes. Unfortunately, on both occasions, the requested order changes were not honored. The patron was asked if she "was allergic or just didn't like it" and ultimately left to feel quite silly for the request as the waitress kept asking "well, what would YOU like ME to do in this situation." In an attempt to just minimize the issue and dine along with fellow guests, the patron repeatedly said "it's fine, it's fine, I can just eat this" but a side plate of the modification was brought out late in what simply felt to be a point made directly at the guest. Beyond that, another guest at our table did not even receive the right dish. Being somewhat unaware of the dish as we had never dined with the restaurant before, the patron did not realize until the waitress brought out another plate laughing "Oh, you ordered this but got that, don't know how that happened!" Our table was billed for the full meal, and offered a free dessert because "WE had problems with the meal." Was truly hesitant to leave this Yelp review, as I understand it was possibly a long night for the kitchen and wait staff, but I honestly feel like there is room for improvement and management didn't seem interested in hearing it when we were onsite. Met owners a few years ago at a party up north. Friend told us about the place so my husband and I took the drive from Naples for lunch. I ordered the pineapple boat. I am not a chicken salad person but like tuna salad. Well I enjoyed the entire meal. Just enough food . My husband had a bowl of corn chowder. Delicious . The appetizer we ordered was very good (the arancini) my entree was also quite good. I had the salmon with risotto and green beans. I was really disappointed with the service we received. We arrived and when we walked in we were told there were two minutes before they were seating for dinner and could we wait outside. The hostess seated one gentleman and told us she'd be back to seat us. She never returned for us, but seated several other groups. When we were finally seated it took our server more than ten minutes to come over to introduce herself and to ask us if we wanted drinks. We never received bread that all of the other tables received without even asking. We had to ask our server if we could have bread, which we received a minute before our entrees came out. We received our appetizer promptly, but when our entrees came out, my companion's salmon was seriously over cooked--to the point where it was no longer pink inside. Our server never came over to ask how our food was, she had to be flagged down to take back the over cooked entree. We then had to flag her down again to ask for refills on our drinks after they sat empty for a while. We went early for dinner to avoid the rush, there were only a few other tables with customers, so I can't even play off her inattentiveness on busyness. We did watch her stop at her other table, which was right next to us, several times to inquire how their meal was and to make small talk with them, but she apparently couldn't be bothered to stop back at our table to even refill our drinks. read more

We have probably been to this restaurant 100 times or more. We used to go more before we had kids, and were probably paying their rent for a while. The food is amazing, the service is excellent and overall is a far better place to eat than any of the chain restaurants at Coconut Point. Get something with the risotto, or just get it alone. It's delicious. We have never had a bad meal, we have never had bad service. We're seasonal residents and we're in the Estero area all winter long. Now that we have kids, this is the first place we think of when a babysitter is available and we get some time to ourselves! It also doesn't hurt that they have a great wine list. :) Ask for Paul. He's one of the many reasons we keep coming back. read more

I tried this restaurant last week and sat at the bar. It is very nice and a very quaint bar. I was a bit surprised that the bar was not larger. The restaurant has a cool vibe and the staff did a great job providing a friendly atmosphere. I happened to go during happy hour so had a few glasses of wine and the muscles. The muscles and wine were very good and the prices during happy hour were a great deal. I would give this place a try if your on the fence. read more

My in-laws eat here weekly and this evening took my husband and I here for the first time. All of our meals were excellent! Hubby and I both had the salmon and it was incredible!! He got it with the risotto which was yummy but I got it with mashed potatoes and let me just say I'll be dreaming about those mashed potatoes for the next several months, I'm sure! LOL. DEAD FLY ON OUR LUNCH PLATE!!! Recent lunch at South Fork was good until we noticed a dead fly (NOT a fruit fly!) on my wife's plate as she finished her meal. Response from the manager (they comped one of of our four meals) came up way short. We all felt more remorse and a stronger apology was clearly warranted. We sat around for over twenty minutes at the end of our meal and not once did our server or the manager revisit our table to thank us for coming and express regret. Needless to say this put a real damper on our lunch experience! We know "stuff can happen" but a total insufficient effort was made to make us feel any better about our South Fork experience. Our server was not interested in my food allergies nor did it seem was the kitchen. To be on the safe side I ordered French toast but it came out burnt. Usually a favorite. This visit my Viognier was warm and my salmon was cold. The citrus beurre blanc was muted and had little to no tang. The wife's prom chop was also cold.
