This is definitely not your "typical" CrossFit gym...it's BETTER, by far! I've trained here most…read moreof the past 10 years, with some time off to work out in a traditional crossfit gym. The focus here is on kettlebells and body weight movements, mostly. Mike is one of the best kettlebell trainers in the world, with years of KB training experience plus many more years of martial arts training on top of that. Over time, Mike has gradually shifted the focus to everyone training smartly, training for longevity. If you are pushed so hard that you are too sore to work out for a few days, or if you end up injured, well that's not really a productive program. Mike is constantly learning, studying, working to improve the training protocols to help us all get/stay fit for the long term, without injury. He WILL tell you to use less weight, or a slightly "easier" protocol, if he sees that is what YOU need on that particular day. He'll also push you to improve something in every single workout - a better time, more poundage moved, more rounds completed - something! He is a stickler for solid technique and makes sure you are using good/correct form - again, it's all about longevity, and avoiding injury. I love it here, and highly recommend trying it out.

The focus is not on personal records or the fastest time, but training to improve your mobility, flexibility, and strength, achieved mostly through the use of kettlebells and bodyweight exercises. While the workouts are challenging, they can be scaled to any level, and there is nothing that will make you feel more badass than swinging around a heavy kettlebell!. No matter how good (or bad) my day is, I always walk out feeling better than I did when I walked in, thanks to the great community, created by one of the world's finest kettlebell instructors, Mike Krivka. There is no one you will find locally who is more knowledgeable about fitness, or more dedicated to continuous improvement. Crossfit Koncepts is definitely worth serious consideration for your fitness needs.

Eric and Simon are outstanding instructors--always respectful of modifications while still inspiring you to push further with their encouragement and challenges. How they modify the exercises for ALL members is the best part. For me, they give me suggestions to make them more challenging. For others, they'll have them lower the weights and do lower impact exercises to accommodate injuries and level of experience. Every workout is different, which keeps things interesting. The program is motivating and I can honestly say I get in just as good of a workout in 45 minutes here as I would in 1.5 hours on my own in a weight room. It's fast paced, but doable for everyone. The space itself is organized and clean. The members I've met are all friendly and the coaches are encouraging. This isn't an in-your-face bootcamp style gym. No intimidation tactics here! I can't recommend Foundry Fitness enough to anyone who wants to change up their boring, old workout routine or needs an extra kick in the butt.

I've always loved Orange Theory and used to go 2-4 times a week in California. When I moved to…read moreMaryland, I started my membership back up after a few year break hoping I'd get back into it. Sadly though the studio was farther and my schedule didn't line up. When my card expired, I told them to pause or cancel, figuring they couldn't charge so I was done for now. But the they called and said I owe for the month my card expired *and* the next month because of a 30-day cancellation policy--plus they threatened collections if I didn't come in to pay and cancel officially. Yes, I should've canceled sooner and I bet they have contracts and policies. But after years of being such a loyal advocate telling everyone how great it is and loving it myself , I would have appreciated a little flexibility. Maybe paying only one month when I was ready to cancel and bending the rule for me. I know they can they have specials all the time. Instead, they wouldn't budge, leaving a bad taste after so many positive experiences. If you're thinking of canceling, don't wait--do it right away or you'll pay for extra months. It's disappointing that a company I once loved would treat a loyal customer this way. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back to this location if I ever want to go back.

Sounds like I'm not the only one to say beware of extra charges according to other reviews…read more I was visiting from another location and used one of my passes to take a class at this location. I am aware that my location is typically lower on pricing so there could be an up-charge, however, I am used to being notified of any charges that I would occur when I am checking in to a new location for the first time. The front desk person was cheerful, however, when she asked me for a credit card to just keep on file there was no mention of any charges I would incur and said no charges would be made, it was just to ensure a card was on file for future use. Apparently future used meant immediately after my class without notification. I don't remember who the coach was, but she was just OK. I understand most OT classes these days don't typically use the rower as much as they used to or at least that's what it seems. I always like to start on the tread or rower to get my heart rate up and get the most bang for my buck out of my OT workout. I don't know why they have you start on a rower or only to mention that you will be getting off a minute or two later and starting on the floor. It would be nice to know that when you sign up for your starting position before class starts. Once I noticed this, I mentioned I would prefer to switch to the tread, but the coach told me to proceed with the group I signed with and to go to the floor even though they were open treads. I've always had rather good experiences at any location I've been to as I travel a lot and like to check out gyms in other locations... So I will say this was a first to be disappointed by OT. If you're local, I'm sure it's fine... If you're traveling, I would maybe try a different location or at least beware that you will probably be charged without notification for whatever they decide that day.

I originally wanted to try out a class at this location today and so I signed up for it last week with no problem. Later that day I get an email from a staff member asking me follow up questions and asking to set up a phone call or else my class would not be confirmed (even though I had already received a confirmation email). I thought this seemed unnecessary since they already ask you to come in 30 min prior to your class to fill out intake forms (which will probably ask the same questions she planned to ask over email/phone). Nevertheless, I answered the email questions and one of them was "why did you choose this location?" I explained that it is a convenient location to stop at on my way home from work. A few days prior to the class I get a text from that same staff member asking if I would like to sign up for a free introductory class, which as I mentioned, I already had! I ignore the text. Yesterday (the day before my class) I get a text to confirm that if I will be attending the class to which I reply, yes. TODAY, on my day off and the day I planned to go to my class which was scheduled at 11:30 am, I get woken up to a text before 7:00 am from the same staff member stating that introductory free classes are only allowed to be given to local residents and that I can only attend if I pay the $28. It's quite frustrating and shocking that after all those emails and texts prior to the day of my class they did not check my address to see it did not fall within the location boundaries and instead decide to tell me this the DAY OF my class. Long story short, if you are able to attend another location, please do so as it is apparent the staff is lacking experience in their customer service skills!
