I have not experienced the service from Tuscon, but whenever taking anything from Flagstaff it is always a huge headache when dealing with the phone operators. I have only taken the shuttle from Flagstaff to Sky Harbor Airport, but last night I attempted to take the shuttle from Phoenix. I wasn't aware that you have to check in at a desk, although apparently I should have read that when I bought the ticket. I think that should have been made more clear to me. I do see it in the email but I didn't print it out or read it, I just wrote down the reservation number, went to the airport, asked an airport employee where it picks up and sat there for an hour, only to watch as a yawning, text messaging driver speed past my violently waving hands. After going in, and searching for another employee (now at midnight) to ask if there was a desk or something I should have gone to. When I was directed there the woman was very nice and sympathetic to this sweaty, weary, and hopeful traveller, but I had to take a cab to my nearest friends house. This morning, I called the Arizona Shuttles toll-free number to reschedule, as the person at the Sky Harbor desk told me I should, and was immediately informed that since I didn't call there was no chance that she was going to reschedule my ticket, as there was no proof that I was waiting there. I'd rather deal with the Greyhound, especially when I'm lower on cash. I have recently had some better experiences with the company, but when they charge so much extra, it's really only worth the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at the airport, I would never use this shuttle just to get down to Phoenix. For their extra price, they should be more accommodating and trusting of their passengers. Better for business. Sometimes they use the larger busses instead of the vans, and this is much more comfortable.

The owners, Dave and Natalie, are highly experienced on group and adventure travel. From your first night in a hostel to 19 more nights (Alaska Salmon Run) at various levels of camping you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself in the wilds of Alaska. You will see many animals that you may never have thought to see in their own habitats behaving as they should. You will see amazing landscapes and have the chance to walk on a Glacier. The value for your money is excellent. That said there are some things you must bring to the venture. You need an open mind. This is a group experience and you will meet many different personalities - most from other countries. Some will be critical of you or difficult and some will be delightful. You need a strong will. The trip will challenge you physically while you adjust to temperature extremes and various hiking opportunities. You need to be flexible. The phrase "this is Alaska" covers all kinds of happenings around timing and resources. Dave and Natalie do their best but not every detail is under their control. You have to be willing to fully participate. Setting up and cleaning up campsites and meals are a group effort. Dave and Natalie work hard to accommodate diets. We are vegan and although some of our meals were uninspiring, we did not starve. The tents are spacious and easy to set up. There are plenty of camp chairs, dishes, and utensils. We recommend you bring a 2-3 inch (5-7.5cm) sleeping pad (REI has good ones), and a sleeping bag rated ro 30 degrees F (-1 degree C) as well as a camp pillow for comfort. A liner for your sleeping bag is a big help keeping you warm. You don't need lots of clothes - just layers. There are at least 3 places on the trip where you can do laundry. Finally remember the wilderness is not next door. There will be at least 4 long bumpy bus rides from one location to the next with a few shorter bumpy drives as well. You will often be surprised by animal sightings and amazing vistas for which Dave stops so you can take pictures. This was not a vacation, it was an adventure for us. If adventure is what you seek and you are willing to take advantage of the many opportunities that Dave and Natalie will provide, this is the travel company for you.

This was the worst taxi experience we have ever had…read more From the start, the person on the phone was rude and not helpful. When the vehicle arrived, it was not clean or well kept, and the overall experience felt very unprofessional. The driver also had noticeable body odor and was not helpful when we asked basic questions about the area. We ended up ending our trip early because we were so uncomfortable with the service. We called another local company, Williams Taxi and Shuttle, and they showed up right away in a newer, clean vehicle with a very pleasant driver. They were able to get us where we needed to go safely and professionally. We did pay about $30 more with the other company, but it was worth it. This experience reminded us that sometimes you really do get what you pay for. I would not recommend AZ West Taxi And Shuttle based on our experience.

There was a bit of a struggle getting the credit card machine to connect, and it all felt a little disorganized. We were in room 1, which is in the annex just off the patio, so it was easy to haul our luggage inside. The room we stayed in could have used a nightstand and a bedside lamp. We ended up using the chair as a bedside table. The toilet was also a little wobbly, which made us a bit nervous. No in-room fridge or microwave, but the staff let us know we could put food in the fridge and use the microwave. We had an early start the next morning, so did not have a chance to check out the breakfast. At $99/night, this seemed a little on the pricey side, especially in comparison to some of the other places I had researched and which we walked past while exploring the town.

A nice front desk clerk came to check it out, but she knew nothing. I know it's not her job to be a technician. So, it was never fixed. She told us that she'd call her manager to see about a discount, but I guess the manager didn't care. I didn't get any discount. If something needs to fixed, get someone to fix it. NO EXCUSES. I won't stay there again.
