This is not your ordinary Thai restaurant. I tried a liche Martini which as not on the menus. Best martini I've ever had if you in the mood for a cocktail on the sweet side. We had a great experience last night. The ambiance is great and the outdoor bar was a nice place to sit with no wait on a nice summer night. Service was nice and tended to us attentively. The cocktails were good and so was the cashew chicken. My dish wasn't what I was expecting and a little too fishy despite having it quite a few times before. The waitress noticed I barely ate it and took it off the bill which I wasn't expecting and didn't ask for. But it was great customer service. We made a reservation for an early dinner at 4:30 pm and were told there was a 2-hour eating period. We weren't seated until about 10 minutes later and the server came around in another 10 minutes. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and well-decorated. There's an open kitchen and a long bar to the left of the entrance. We ordered the fried calamari ($15), spicy mackerel salad ($13), crab meat fried rice ($23), and nasi goreng ($20). The calamari was pretty average, but the two entrees were delicious! We weren't fans of the mackerel salad, the menu said the mackerel was fried but it tasted more steamed/soggy mixed with the sauce. We didn't know there was a cocktail menu until we saw other tables around us having drinks. We asked the server after our meal and ended dinner with the salted egg and Thai coffee martini ($14) and clover club ($14). Both were interesting, but thought the martini was a bit too creamy and sweet. When we left around 6:30 pm and the restaurant was almost full, so I recommend making a reservation! read more

What a great experience! I came in with a couple of family members for a birthday and everyone raved about this dinner! Our server was Gina and she was fantastic! So friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very upscale and professional. For appetizers we chose the calamari and roti canai. Both were 5/5 apps, highly recommend. For my entree, I chose the nassi lamak because I have heard so much about it. It was a unique culinary experience. There were so many flavors that came together to make the dish and I enjoyed it. For dessert there was a complimentary pandan castella cake for the birthday and I chose the biscoff cheesecake for myself. Both desserts were a hit. The only part of the experience that was a bit problematic was the parking. We started with some drinks. My wife ordered a Tamerand Old fashioned that was smooth and earthy. The Tuk Tuk lemonade was refreshing. We chose the steamed dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were well presented, not greasy and very flavorful. The main dishes included the seared Chilean Seabas with Assam curry. This was such a delicious offering. The fish was very good and the sauce accompanying it was extraordinary. The Eggplant Stir-fry Shrimp were also delicious. The eggplant had a nice texture, the sauce was great and the shrimp were flavorful. Sometimes you get frozen and flavorless shrimp in a dish like this. Not here. We also ordered the Chicken Cashew Nuts which was good. Probably the least interesting of the dishes, but still respectable. The meat lovers enjoyed the Pad Kapow beef. Again the sauce was delicious and the beef was tender and flavorful. One dish that most everyone ordered and so we did too, was the Pineapple Fried Rice. This is a truly unique and it's just fantastic. If you eat here, just order it and enjoy. I visited this restaurant 2 times, the first with family and the second with friends, and ordered different dishes from each visit. Their seafood dishes are some of my favorites, such as the Singaporean Chili Dungeness Crab, Tom Yum Soup with Jumbo Prawn, and Crispy Whole Red Snapper. Despite being pricey, SO WORTH. I liked the mushrooms and it came with rice and some sauces. I didn't really use the sauces but poured the rice into the soup which I enjoyed. It also came with youtiao or something very similar. Not sure why the chef even served the chicken when it almost all black and burnt to a crisp. I expected better food, service and attention to detail from an upscale restaurant that is charging these prices. The curry laksa was just ok to me. The flavor was pretty good but the noodles were not my thing. The fried calamari was alright but not crispy enough. The roti canai had great roti but the curry dip was lacking flavor. The best dish of the night was the nasi goreng - flavorful and the rice was crisp in some bites. Overall, I did not enjoy my experience here. I am used to eating Southeast Asian food on a rickety plastic stool in someone's backyard so dining in this absolute beautiful restaurant with pretty dinner ware felt like an absolute treat! I stopped by for lunch with my husband so I was not able to order everything we wanted but the grilled prawns and beef satay were exquisite. My husband loved his mie goreng and my Haianese chicken was great. I definitely got flashbacks from our honeymoon in Southeast Asian when taking bites. I'm glad another Singaporean/Malaysian restaurant opened in the area because there's only a couple options in the DMV. While the pricing is on the higher side, I still think it's worth it if you don't get this cuisine too often. The flavors are pretty elevated, and my friend and I enjoyed the dishes we tried this past Monday evening. The only downside is that the service here is a bit all over the place and they can be nowhere to be seen when you need them. However, it's still a fairly new restaurant, so the service will improve. ROTI CANAI - 11 Each order comes with two pieces of roti, which were super fluffy, soft and fresh. This is a good appetizer to split between two people. The curry dhal dip is runny, so it's a little hard to soak up a lot of it -- would recommend using a spoon to scoop it up into the roti if you don't wanna use your hands. CURRY LAKSA - 23 The spicy coconut broth was so creamy and nutty and made up a lot of the soup. On it's own, it's a bit bland and could have more of an "oomph", but they offer a few spice jars that you can use to liven it up more. My friend enjoyed the spicy fish (?) spice that they had. The rice noodles soaked up the broth well, and there was a good amount of toppings (chicken, fried tofu, egg, etc.) that came with it. NASI LEMAK WITH BEEF RENDANG - 27 The steamed coconut rice was subtle yet the highlight of this entree. It went well with all the toppings (anchovies, boiled egg, beef rendang, peanut, cucumber and sambal). I wish there were more anchovies and peanuts, because there was so much leftover rice at the end. The sambal was a bit spicy yet sweet, and I liked this a lot. The beef rendang was a bit dry -- would have preferred a bit more sauce and more tender. ONDEH CENDOH JELL-O CAKE - 9 This was one of the jell-o cakes they offer as a dessert (and apparently made at the home of one of the chef's?) and we knew we had to get this. It looked like a mooncake, but a jello. It's not too sweet, and lots of coconut flavor! This jell-o cake was perfect to share and made a delicious, light dessert option. Highly recommend reservations - weekdays are fairly calm but weekends are super busy. Everything we've tried here is good, can't go wrong with anything you try. The papaya salad is a very basic one - only dish recommend skipping. Also wish the pandan desserts had more pandan flavor, but still good. Service a couple times was very good including what was recommended. Our latest time, the server rushed our order, so entrees all delivered halfway through us enjoying our apps. Went here with friends who recommended it and it was packed (Sat night)!! We had a drink at the bar and everyone enjoyed them. Once we were seated, our waitress introduced herself and was extremely sweet and helpful! We started with the spring rolls-same as everywhere else but more pricey-roti/curry, and papaya salad. I didn't like the roti/dal combo since it was basically like plain Indian dal, but the roti was nicely done and fluffy, just not for me at a Thai style restaurant. The papaya salad was very flavorful and not too spicy like at other Thai places. For dinner, my friends got the red snapper and pad Thai and thoroughly enjoyed them. I got the shrimp kapow with extra veggies and it was great! Husband got a veggie dish and thought it was pretty plain (but that's what he ordered). We ended with the mango sticky rice and it was delicious...but not sure why they turned the rice green! They also gave us a slice of cake that was kind of tasteless so wouldn't order that in the future. Overall, the food, drinks and service were really good and I'd definitely go back. This place took me on a food adventure in Southeast Asia! I went here with a group of friends and we were seated promptly. Parking was not too bad, I was fortunate to get parking on the street but you can probably just park at the garage around the corner if you don't mind the extra walk. Walking inside is a treat. There's a lot of to see here, almost every wall has this vibrant yellow hue in the background; it really give off that feeling that you're eating somewhere really nice. I wanted to try something I have never tried before so I started off with the Chicken Curry Puff. To me it felt like I was eating something similar to a Samosa but it contained Curry and bits of Chicken and Potatoes inside. It's really crispy. Dipping it with the Cucumber Sauce was definitely the move as it enhanced the flavor. I could eat more of these not gonna lie. It was really good, flaky but fried enough that it was an enjoyable bite every time. I wanted to go more in depth into my food adventure so I got something I have never tried in my life. Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken. It is a interesting delight as someone who has never tried Malaysian Cuisine before. The plate is served with Steamed Coconut Rice, Fried Chicken, Anchovies, A boiled Egg sliced into pieces, Peanuts, Cucumbers, and Sambal. I will not lie that I was very skeptical on how to tackle this. Even so I have never thought I'd be eating anchovies in my life either. But when you add a bit of everything into your mouth it's not really that bad. I think the sambal wasn't spicy at all but it made my nose run so I suppose that's good. I do think the fried chicken was bits and pieces where I was hoping I'd get a drumstick/wing or something else. Not really an issue though. It was very delicious and I was happy to have tried something out of my comfort zone. For dessert probably the best for last; Pandan Castella Cake. Served with Pandan Custard and Coconut Flakes, I just had to get it. This small yet flavorful dessert was the right move to end my adventure on. I rarely see Pandan at a resturant so this was a surprise to me. Overall, worth every single dollar. It's not too sweet but it is also a tad small. Maybe I just eat too much. This place is super new to the area and there are many great but limited options. I've been hunting down a great Malaysian restaurant for a while now and I'm so happy to see this place pop up! Even though it IS a fusion concept, everything just hits the spot close to home. The decor is def an eye opener. They did not leave out a single detail when it comes to first impressions. I'm not sure if it's because I came near the time they were supposedly going on break soon (I wasn't aware till we sat down) but it took at least 5 mins before someone came to greet us at the entrance. Many staff walked by and made eye contact with us, however, no one actually physically came over until 5 mins into us waiting and trying to wave down a staff. This def tick us off since we had a positive impression of this place beforehand. Let's talk about the food. Since it was lunch time, we opt for a few lighter meals. I've been dying to find a good spot with Nasi Lemak and had to try it since it's my all time fave dish. It was good but not great. The beef rendang was missing a bit of flavor but overall, it was good. The coconut rice was missing a lot of coconut flavor and it was also extremely loose (extremely dry if that makes sense). 7/10 Roti Canai: I loveeeeeee roti. The roti hits close to home for sure! As for the curry dipping sauce, it's a bit less flavorful. I'm not sure exactly what concept they're going for but there were lentils in it and the flavor was off. By off, I meant it is not the typical roti Canai type of curry. Overall, I'd get just the roti next time. 7/10 Crab Fried Rice: This dish does not disappoint! Their plating was simple yet impressive. Such a great addition to Fairfax! Reservations can be made online or by calling in for larger parties. Parking can be found along the small street in front of the restaurant or at the nearby garage toward the back of the building. The restaurant has a modern look with nature-centric tones, which I loved! From the decor to the ambiance, I had a great experience. The service is excellent, and our server provided us with great recommendations from the menu. Everything I tried was very delicious and flavorful, but my top favorites would have to be the Curry Laksa and the Hainanese Chicken. Just a heads up that the Drunken Noodle is spicier than usual, so if you can't handle your spice, let your server know! Me on the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Roti Canai is my absolute favorite as well; it is such a great appetizer to start your meal. read more
