Ugh I hate even typing this as I genuinely love Southerleigh and have been patronizing this location for years and once their Domain area location opened their doors that became my go-to. My boss and I went on a Monday evening and although we were seated pretty quickly, the service and food really fell flat. Service was just really spotty and we had to constantly grab someone's attention to be attended to even if it was to place a drink order or get more water for our table. We started off with their pretzel and a dozen raw oysters before our main entrees. The oysters were quite tasty but the pretzel which I recalled being served hot and airy was literally cold and stale. We asked the server if by any chance their style of serving this dish had changed which to our intuition it was not. They were quick to fire up a new one and brought it out to the table. The difference was superb and was a true testament to this dish. As a side dish for the table we went for the mac and cheese and the dish was done so poorly we were at a loss for words. Although there were two adults enjoying this, this dish could've easily been a choking hazard for a child. With the crab cheese (macaroni and cheese with gulf crab) there were plenty of little bones in it. So much so we had to take conscious small bites and word around it. With the service being spotty it wasn't even worth trying to flag someone down again. I'll definitely keep patronizing the other location but perhaps the Pearl Brewery location has lost its luster for me. read more

Love the snapper throats when they are available but they are a little under seasoned for me. I have only been able to secure these when I come for an early dinner, i.e., before 6. Had some of the best oysters I have ever had here the other night, I believe they were from the Nova Scotia area? Perfect brininess and texture. I feel like they used to include fried saltines with these but now they are just plain... probably much healthier but I miss the old/greasy days. Their house salad with added fried chicken has become one of my favorite entrees, very satisfying. The only thing I was less enthusiastic about was the pretzel-- tasted a little past it's prime and I did not care for the included cheese sauce at all, way too salty for my tastes. Really great ambiance (and AC) the Pearl district. If they're on a wait and you have a small party, ask about the chef's table. Stopped in for lunch and had the east Texas crawfish roll and a side salad. The side salad was tasty, fresh, and ginormous, the crawfish roll was fantastic. I was a little thrown by the melter butter it was served with, but then I added a touch and immediately understood. The pickles were great but I thought they overwhelmed the crawfish a bit so I ate them separately. For beer I tried the hazy ipa (I think a silver something?) and it was darn good, not as fruity as some. The icing on the cake? My server suggests a wine slushy for walking around the Pearl. It was Sauvignon bland with mango and it was just what I needed. Stop in for one of those if nothing else ;) read more

This little gem right outside of Southerleigh just opened up and has the most delicious oysters shucked right in front of you. They have a wide variety of oysters to choose from along with beers on tap and wine. They are closed on rainy days, so make sure to check the weather before heading down to the Oyster Bar. My favorite was the lucky lime with the medium salt flavor. I definitely want to come back to try the seafood tower and caviar. read more

We had the joy of enjoying a beautiful lunch on the dog friendly patio. We started our meal with with fried with queso which is easy and shareable. We followed that up with their big oysters they had this specialty bbq oyster sauce that I couldn't get enough of . I tried their punch rogue and would order it again. We all our enjoyed our entrees and have no complaints. Their biscuits remind me of New Orleans . We can't wait to return. Service was great. read more

Outdoor oysters! This is a great location, right next to Southerleigh, part of the whole restaurant, but an outdoor seating area, around a covered oyster bar. When I went they had four different oysters available, two from the Gulf of Mexico, and one from each American ocean coast. The oysters are shucked right there and served up on trays with all the fixin's. The shrimp were gigantic! They also offer the whole selection of beers that they offer inside on tap, so it's a great place to grab a beer. Pro tip: Since the Pearl is all private property, you can take your beers to go and go wander around the Pearl with it. Also, the inside bar can get crowded, this is a great place to grab one. This outdoor bar overlooks Pearl Plaza, where there's fake grass, other food options, beer options, and often live music. Parking is usually easy with lots of lots around under the highway, and heaps of parking options in a free garage. The service was fast and friendly! They know their oysters and are happy to answer questions about the sourcing. If you're not into the bar menu, they said that they offer the whole menu of everything that they do inside. It's a scenic place to sit, and a great place to get a craft beer that's brewed on site. The beers are great, served up ice cold. The Gold Export Lager is my fav, and is actually available at local grocers. read more

I absolutely love this place. Their happy hour is amazing. Good clean fresh oysters, delicious warm buttery biscuits, and tasty giant wings. I first came here with my family right before my college graduation, then went back with my husband, as we keep coming back. The sangria is good too. Lovely place. Excellent ambiance, prices are good, great service. I don't really drink beer, but my family liked what they had to offer! Way better than other oyster bars. I actually tried going to one where the oysters where slightly cheaper but it was terrible and I came right back to Southerleigh for the better experience, taste, and quality. read more

Oh we love this place! We were fortunate to get seated at the counter overlooking the kitchen. Wow what an experience! Two of us are avid "cookers" and we really enjoyed watching the action and the chef's attention to everything! The kitchen folks could not have been any nicer. They would share bites of things while we sipped on our wine and cocktails. Our first bite was a deviled egg. It was fantastic! I believe it had bacon jam on the top. Next they gave us each a fried oyster. Heavenly!!!!!! We were then served our entrees. I had the quail and a side of crab legs. The quail were tender and flavorful and the crab was divine. Other members of our party had the ribeyes (said all were cooked to perfection and there was not a bite leftover), the redfish was excellent, and the sea scallops were apparently delicious as there was not a bite left on theat plate either!! Each of us ordered a different dessert. All were outstanding but my favorite was the Mississippi mud pie. Do not leave without having a slice! We can't wait to go back. My only regret is not taking photos of any of it. read more
