The one slight observation, We normally order online for pickup.. their online system always states the order takes 45 mins, however, I've picked up orders as soon as 10 mins after. Surfing Crab is a great place to go for really good crab boil and seafood in general. You will love the potatoes and corn and you get to choose the spicy level of your boil. It was a great experience going with my Family. They provide a permanent marker in order to write your name on the wall. That makes for a great memory for everyone especially kids. The variety of food is so amazing! They have fried fish, fried calamari, fried flounder, jumbo shrimp, fried catfish, combo plates with different options to make a custom meal. Crawfish, clams, and mussels and sooo much more. You will really love the variety and all the great flavors. Recently I went back to Surfing Crab to give it another chance. The service is much much better. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. I have a crawfish obsession! And this time around it was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. I had to order the surfing special sauce. Usually I ask them for the dry Cajun rub and they are able to do it. There was a man SMOKING at the bar! The waitress was not surprised and told him he had to stop. He did not stop. I have not been around someone smoking in so long and the last place I want it is in a restaurant. The boil was decent. The problem is salt. There was so much salt on the sausage and other parts of the boil that it was not all edible. The crab in the boil was good, the shrimp was okay, the muscles okay. No one ate the sausage, most of the potatoes were left bc they were hard. I will say the calamari was the reason for the extra star. Everyone agreed the calamari was excellent. The sweet tea was great. There is graffiti on everything. The walls, the chairs, the leather , the decor. If your kids can read and you don't want to answer questions as a parent this is not the place for you. It was filthy, there was food all over the ground. When we sat down there was shrimp, French fries and potatoes under our table. We did not see a single person cleaning the floors. This was not a good night out. We were brought wrong orders more than once, the table and chairs that we were sat at were wobbly and had writing all over them. I have seen this done at other seafood boil restaurants and I believe it's a tradition, however Surfing Crab managed to make it look trashy. The Lobster tail and snow crab was great, I ordered extra corn because i didn't realize they already came with some corn and potato so i'll keep that in mind for next time. I got the medium spice old bay + garlic butter which was great, hardly spicy at all but great flavors, I think i'll go up one spice level next time. Also tried out the fried oysters, they were good, but probably won't order again, just wanted to give them a try. French fries are great. We initially ordered to go but decided to eat in instead. The drinks were relatively cheap, with $5 drink specials Friday evening. I ordered a shrimp boil with addition of corn and was surprised this also included potatoes, as well as a side of fries. For my sauce I ordered the Surfing Special (a mix of all the flavors) Spicy. All was well seasoned. I liked that it was not overwhelmingly spicy but had a good balance. I would try the next heat level out of curiosity. It's a place that is casual enough for a messy date night, group dining affair and extremely family friendly The spread of everything from clams to shrimp to crawfish and calamari is impressive. My favorite item would have to be the snow crabs and each leg was filled with copious amounts of meat. Even the crawfish was on point, even if it's not in season. Their non-boil items, such as the shrimp cocktail, fried shrimp, and oysters were also surprisingly good. I think if I'm to go back, I'll be ordering everything from their clams to even the spicy edamame. Service has their moments and I think the prices are about average for a place like this. This location is definitely a hit or miss. Today my food was overcooked and the service was terrible. Our waitress hardly ever came to our table. We were at the restaurant for nearly 3 hours because of how long it took to order, how long it took to get the food, and then we waited forever for the check. After reading a lot of mixed reviews on seafood joints around the city, I figured I'd roll the dice by simply choosing the one closest to me. I've decided that was a great way to go about things! I was dying for crawfish and aware they are not in season, I didn't expect them to wow me (which, they didn't) so I was sure to order some other items to make my decision on. First and foremost, the variety of flavors and spice levels are great! I got fire on my items and honestly could have used more heat but I am not a good judge of that, as if I am not crying from pain it's not hot enough. Would likely suffice for others. The sausage and potatoes had great flavor! I tried adding eggs for the first time and personally I don't enjoy them being so cooked, but again the flavor was definitely there. Lastly, the snow crab legs were fantastic! I am not usually a fan, but they were cooked perfectly. Not rubbery or overdone and were deliciously juicy. I also tried the wings just to see how they were and while they weren't amazing, they were fine enough to curb the appetite of anyone you're dining with who doesn't want seafood. Overall, the flavors were a hit and the customer service from the staff who assisted with bringing out my curbside order was super nice! To be fair, I've only been once. $60 including tip for takeout is pretty steep. But, honestly, it served. What didn't serve was the wait staff. There's 3 spots in front for curbside pickup. Called, chatted with someone who took my name and said they'd grab it and bring it out. The car next to me was already waiting there, and they ended up getting out to go inside to retrieve. Another car was there for pickup and after just one minute, ended up going in & getting their order. I waited a little longer, responding to emails and what not, giving them the benefit of the doubt. After ten minutes, ended up going in. Mind you, the order status on Yelp had already prompted it was ready. Walked in and there were two people taking names for seating. If you're not going to perform curbside, say that when someone talks to you over the phone & don't have chairs sitting out with the message of call inside for your curbside! The girl inside wanted to see me check in my grub hub status as picked up. Ordering from Yelp, that's what it registers as. But, we have no way of doing this. This confused her and she was about to walk away with the order? Then the other girl told her that's how it registers, so she handed me the order. I told them I'd called from curbside ten minutes ago and no one ever brought my order out. Neither acknowledged my comment. I asked them to tell people over the phone to walk in, instead of making them wait before they figure it out themselves that no one is coming out. Dumbfounded looks on their faces with no communication behind it. I guess that's what happens when you have 18 year olds running the front of the house!? It was $43.99 and came with a lobster tail, 1/2 lb. Of snow crab, 1/2 lb. Headless shrimp, sausage, corn & potatoes. I got it spicy with SA special seasoning, which includes everything (garlic, lemon pepper & Cajun). It was delicious! Minus the lobster, which was overcooked & quite rubbery. Which, honestly, I ordered this special for the lobster specifically. Sad day. Ha! Either way, snow crab was my favorite! So succulent & dipping it back into the sauce made it perfect! Shrimp were good. I appreciated that they were easy to peel and deveined. The sausage was spicy and yummy. The corn was good. The one potato I cut & ate I didn't particularly care for. It absorbed all the sea-foodie flavor and just wasn't appealing to me. I ordered hushpuppies too and they were good. A bit of an afterthought with the amount of seafood, but they weren't bad. The order came with a big, a wipe for after you got your hands dirty, plastic ware, which really isn't needed IMO. And , as mentioned earlier, they packed it nicely so it was easy to open up, eat, and cleanup. Never been here before but it was quite crowded inside & as people were leaving, people were entering. This was at 9pm. It closes at 11pm on Saturday. The vibe inside was dark sports bar ish looking. I think I'd probably prefer to order takeout. We are here two weeks ago on a Saturday , the food was so delicious. My husband ordered the one pound shrimp with corn and potato while I ordered combo #3 which is a combination of 1/2 lbs shrimp and 1/2 calamari as well as one lobster tail . All of our sauces was the surfing special sauce and it was so delicious . We also ordered the shrimp fried rice which was very good and smokey.
