Talk about yum. Get there as early as you can..they may run out. They have seating inside but limited. Outside there are a bunch of picnic tables so just make friends. The ribs were great. The pork was juicy and great. The wraps were outstanding. Even the pie was good

Southern Junction provided a spectacular fusion brunch experience. Classic BBQ with Indian influences made for a wonderful meal. One member of our party went with a brisket sandwich, and the other threee (myself included) split a trinity platter, which turned out to be a wonderful introduction to most of their menu. Two of us handled picking up the food orders, while the other two went into the bar to order cocktails for the group. Everything came together brillantly at the table, where we dug in happily. No two BBQ spots any place in the country can be expected to be the same, and the Indian touches at Southern Junction stake out a unique, delicious spot.

This place continues to do well and rightfully so. The owner has really perfected his skills, and rightly deserves all the awards he has won. My wife and I are fond of the brisket, the brisket biryani, the and everything else. There might be a hint of Indian touch to it, but I think people make it sound more Indian than it is, and its another reason Ive heard people stay away from it. If you want Indian food, go to an Indian restaurant, but good luck finding red meats there. If you want a prefect brisket, perfect spareribs, other meats you would find at a bbq establishment, but with their delicious proprietary dry rub (influenced with a few Indian spices like pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, etc), a sweet and peppery kick to it, and unique flavors, visit this place. You won't regret it! :)

We came to Southern Junction for the first time tonight and were extremely impressed. Sometimes highly talked about restaurants disappoint, but this did not! We ordered take out on the website and arrived a bit early (4:15 on a Saturday). We grabbed drinks at the bar and they were delicious! I especially loved the drink I had with smoke infused rye! If you order takeout, note you can go right in and up to the register (you don't need to wait in line). The line formed and was outside the door when we arrived! There was seating options inside and outside and all staff was helpful and kind. When we got home to dig in, we were amazed at the melt in your mouth bbq! We got the Texas Trinity to share with the Brisket Biriyani and beans as our side. The biriyani was a rice with brisket and amazing flavor. I'm not usually a huge rice lover but truly enjoyed this! The ribs were to die for and fall off the bone and the kielbasa was delicious! We also got a side of cardamom cornbread ( melt in your mouth!) and the cowboy Mac which my boyfriend absolutely loved. For dessert we got the cinnamon roll which was ginormous but good! Overall, amazing experience, food, and drink even with take out! We'll be back!

Look at that glisten and smoke ring!

I rarely buy into the local food hype because it so often falls flat, but this place is legitimately amazing. The food here is insanely good, which was a huge relief. My Matt and I went here for our anniversary. He loves BBQ and I love Indian food, so it worked out perfectly. We arrived a tad after four on a Thursday; there was no line. We walked up to the meat carver's station with no one in front of us. The menu was clearly posted right above the carving station, but my anxiety meant I genuinely couldn't process it in the moment, even though we weren't being rushed by anything. I kept asking the carvers questions that were answered right on the board in front of me, and they kept a very friendly face and powered through with patience. I appreciate that immensely. We found a table on the enclosed patio. There were a few large picnic tables and some other smaller tables in there too. There isn't a ton of space inside, but they have a giant backyard with a bunch of seating. If it had been slightly warmer, we would've opted for the backyard. Matt had his three-meat, two-side tray with an added Texas Twinkie and a slice of their housemade milk bread. He wanted to sample as much as possible. We ended up getting four more meals out of the leftovers. They brought out my hot link foldie and shells 'n' cheese with candied jalapeños maybe seven minutes later, hot and fresh. As I took pictures, I noticed everything glowed! The colors were so vibrant and varied. It was easy to get good photos. The flavors were extraordinary. Everything was perfectly prepared. The sliced brisket and the ribs I tried from Matt's tray were the best I have ever had by far. The smoked hot link foldie I ordered was incredible. It combined my love of sausage, Indian flavors, and incredibly fresh, buttery, flaky paratha. The slaw and various housemade condiments, pickled onion, and candied jalapeños made it. I would order this a million more times. AND! It's $12. No joke. You want a pizza shop sub that's carelessly thrown together with low-quality, highly processed ingredients for at least $12...or this gorgeous foldie? I could go on and on about everything we tried and how satisfyingly perfect it all was...but try it yourself! You will not be disappointed. There is no "wrong" thing to order from the menu. We're already planning a return, and I can't wait!

Very good and highly recommend. The setup at this restaurant is different than most. You line up to place your order at the stand and pay. They will slice the meet right there and will give you almost everything or, if not, they'll bring it to you. If you dine in, then to find your seat. It's not a table service kind of place. Bar is great as well, but small. Street parking only. Friendly staff. A little pricy but it's meat so expect to pay a little more. Their Texas Twinkie is amazing - bacon wrapped stuff jalapeño. Definitely try this place!

The food was very good and the service was prompt. It was very relaxing on the back patio and you could easily talk with each other. Well planned event, very enjoyable!

I am not a massive fan of BBQ food but Southern Junction really changed my mind. I was on a work trip with a colleague and he really wanted to come here. I was a little hesitant, since I am not the biggest fan of bbq, however I am glad I came. This is by far the best bbq I've had in America. I will always be coming here whenever I am in Buffalo and recommend it to everyone. The location is also a vibe with their outdoor seating and home style coziness. The food was extremely flavorful and filling. The chicken was a little bit of a challenge to eat but everything tasted amazing. Next time I will be getting the three meat portion and have the whole experience. I wish them nothing but the best.

Brisket, brisket biriyani, pickles, pickled red onions, and chammandhi slaw. Delish!

If you have a hankering for barbecue, be sure to make it Southern Junction. This place, which has been a James Beard Award finalist twice now for its Texas/South Asian bbq, is popular for a reason: there really aren't any wrong choices on the menu. We enjoyed the brisket, pulled pork, and barbacurry beef along with sides of cardamom cornbread, brisket biriyani, chammahandhi slaw, and brisket beans. One hack for this experience is to hit the bar for a beverage and to have your meal delivered to your seat. Plan to get there early (when they open) to avoid a wait, then relax with the friendly bartenders and your fellow foodies!

Amazing texish bbq as they say, and they live up to the hype, phenomenal brisket and ribs, great brunch as well including hugeee cinamon rolls and breakfast foldies on paratha bread Highly recommend

Honestly, I'm still processing how good this meal was. I almost don't want to write this because I want to keep this place all to myself, but the food is too good not to share. You know those dinners where the table goes silent because everyone is too busy inhaling their food to speak? Yep, that was us. We decided to live a little and asked the staff to just surprise us with their favorites. Best decision ever; they blew it out of the water. From the brisket to the sides, everything was prepared to perfection. The vibes were top notch too!!! We're already planning our next trip back. Do yourself a favor and check it out... just don't tell too many people! ;)

Love this place so much! Photos are from a couple different visits because I love it here so much, I'll keep retuning. Bartenders are some of the best around and the BBQ is unmatched. I love when I'm lucky enough to get a seat at the bar to enjoy their delicious and unique cocktails. Sometimes there is live music out back also. Don't be surprised if you see a line down the sidewalk! Worth the wait

3 meat platter: brisket, flat iron & sausage. Sides- slaw & rice. Also featured Texas Twinkie.
    Heather A.

Delicious Indian inspired BBQ, great cocktails, yummy sides! Bartenders were kind and helpful. Once seated service was very fast. There was a huge line outside and as we sat eating, they continued to run out of a variety of meats which would be disappointing had we waited in the long line only to not get what we wanted! Thankfully, we snagged a seat at the bar and were served promptly! I will say, the 3 meat platter is overpriced if you get brisket and flat iron. They upcharge by $6 EACH and it's not much meat. I've been to 2 other places with comparable meat and cheaper prices. The coconut curry dipping sauce was super delicious. The Texas Twinkie was neat but nothing special. The cosmo pour was very light and I didn't get much alcohol flavor or buzz...

We ordered "Medium" spicy, and ordered the raita yogurt as a buffer, but there was no need. Next time, we all agreed: "Spicy" as this is rounded-down for Buffalo palates! We loved all three varieties of the sweet lassis: Mango, strawberry and fig. Strongly recommend them! The owner was handily taking orders, delivering meals, seeing to take-out, and cashing out checks: He made it look easy! Street parking only.
