Do NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! They did not pull a permit, did not follow code and because of that almost caused our house to catch on fire and leaked carbon monoxide into our home. I originally was going to let them fix the problems, but then I decided not to have them back in my home due to safety reasons. Their unqualified worker cut a live wire to my recessed lighting in my basement and then took that live wire uncapped and tucked it up into the ceiling without telling me then he installed the hot water heater improperly. I did not know any of this until my kids told me that the lights in the basement were not working so I thought that was really odd. I called my electrician and he came over and he almost got electrocuted because of what this guy had done and my electrician told me something is not right about this and you need to get their work checked out. He said I was so lucky my house did not catch on fire. I then told him the name of the company and he says oh no they have a really bad reputation. Shame on me for not checking reviews and I trusted someone that referred them. I then called my home inspector and had him come out and take a look at all of the work that was done, and we found some pretty major code violations and safety violations that could've been deadly. Because there was evidence that the wire he cut caught on fire. I actually have a picture of it where you can see it clearly caught on fire when he cut it. Other issues also because of the way that the hot water heater was installed I had carbon monoxide going into my home and my home inspector told me to shut it down immediately he was surprised we were still alive because my HVAC is in that same closet which feeds my main level. I then called the county inspector and had them come over and check all of the work so I have very qualified, third-party reports of all of the wrongdoing that this company did and the risk that it caused on my family. I had to pay a lot of money to have all of these things fixed. They also cut a hole in my brick of my house and didn't tell me and left it completely exposed and open to the elements and to animals that could've gotten in inside my basement walls. They also did not cap the pipe properly that is venting my sump pump that they installed. I did all of my homework and have it all documented. According to these other reviews, that's her protocol is to just ignore once I saw other people posting reviews on here of this company doing very dangerous things. So, I felt it was my duty to make a change. Julie guy is the owner and runs the business under her other peoples names from what my attorney is finding. This is second review of Southern Phoenix Services and once again the score a top 5 rating from me. I wish I could give them a 10 because they are hot stuff in a good way. This time it was the water tank. Well, it kinda went crazy and popped a fit with a pipe bursting spewing water all over my garage. I had no idea for at least two hours only to discover the only things missing from me were my towel and my sauna pillow. I have to give Nick all the credit for this project. He not only fixed the problem but also he transformed the issue into a wonderful solution. Nick was extremely professional, kind and considerate. My time was wasted and I'm extremely disappointed. What started off as a prompt, professional, and quick response made a complete 180 degree turn. I contacted Phoenix for a kitchen plumbing rough this past Friday. An appointment between the hours of 8-10AM Monday was confirmed via text. Process of setting up the appointment was totally painless, simple, and enjoyable. Here comes Monday, 10AM rolls around, no show. I text the phone number that I made my appointment with (which is an Apple device so receipt confirmation is given) to follow up... no reply... OK... I give it about another 40 minutes and send a question alert with my previous message to refresh our thread to the top of their inbox and remind whomever on the other end that I'm here at home waiting.. let me know something! Still no reply! Even a cancellation or reschedule message would've been more respectful of my time and a display of decent customer service/communication, but no. I would've been understanding and fine with a new or later time. I see all these great reviews of this company, so I was looking forward to working with them. It's a shame that the ball was dropped like this and I was completely disregarded. It's 8:30PM the next day, so it's clear I will not be receiving any form of communication or an apology from this company. I'm sure this isn't everyone's experience, but it was unfortunately mine. We could have had the new water heater the next day but we decided to wait for Albert/Austin technicians since they gave the estimate and made us feel confident in their ability to perform the installation without hassle and we were right. Within 2 days, they arrived as scheduled, emptied and removed our old water heater, then installed our new water heater. This process took approximately 2 hours as promised. I waited a few weeks before reviewing - weeks later and we are still loving our new system and no longer dealing with the water running cold after 1 shower. They were supposed to be at my home between 9-11 this past Thursday morning. At 11:38 nobody had shown up, so I called the company. The dispatcher then texted me that "John" would be at my house after 4:00. John didn't call to state he was running late. A complete lack of consideration for my time. Was I supposed to wait all day for their royal highness to show ip ? By the way John never showed up after 4:00, which was just as well as I would have sent him on his way. We had a TERRIBLE experience with Southern Phoenix. We called Southern Phoenix to come check out our roman bath tub that had a bit of minor leaking around the accordion drain. Our concern was more about mold than water damage, since the leak was so minor. They assessed the situation and said it would be $775 to fix the leak and set the tub. Unsure of rates and having just moved here from CA, we consented. They first cut a hole in the ceiling below to assess any dripping- which there wasn't any. They then went upstairs and said that the only thing that needed to be replaced was the accordion drain pipe and an o-ring for the pipe. They left to go get the parts for 15-30 mins and came back and finished the job in 20-30 mins. We then paid for the service being $775, including the waived diagnostic fee. After doing research and asking around we realized that we were completely taken advantage of. The drain, sealant, and rubber o-ring cost way less than $100. There is no way labor costs $675 for 20-30 mins. $300 at most but not close to $800. I later called because I felt sick to my stomach about having spent that much. We barely moved here and money is tight. The dispatcher assured us that competitors charge much more than that and that Phoenix Southern pride themselves in their 3 year warranty. I asked for an itemized invoice to better understand how it all added up to $775 but they would not provide it. I have tried calling and texting the owner through her cell phone and calling the company over the last several days to be respectful but also get this resolved. She has not responded and her dispatcher has told me she will try and get her to call me back. I would like to get this resolved, please contact me so we can resolve this. We were taken advantage of and we want to make it right. Phoenix Southern operated in bad faith and they need to be held accountable. read more

Since they were here, I went ahead and agreed to a lower price and they ran the Service Charge on my credit card before they left to go get the part. My water heater was leaking and was 10 years old. Southern Phoenix Services offered the best quote for the replacement of my water heater (hundreds of dollars less than the competitors). Most companies require a fee to come up and look at your current water heater and let you know what the replacement cost will be. They will then credit your account if they do the work. Southern Phoenix Services were a godsend and actually provided the replacement quote over the phone which I really appreciated. The crew showed up on time quickly assessed what was causing the leak and repaired that as well as installing a new water heater. The repair and replacement only took a few hours. They were very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. I will definitely be calling them for my future plumbing needs! read more

I wanted to share a horrible experience I had with Southern Phoenix installing a tankless hot water heater and warn others from using them. The installation was not up to code leaving potential life-threatening hazards. Upon installation we immediately had issues with the hot water heater not working properly and had to have the plumber out 3 times to try to fix the installation. We were left with no other alternative than to have a second plumber inspect and fully redo the installation. They immediately pointed out several code violations with the current installation performed by Southern Phoenix. Several of the violations were potential life-threatening hazards where carbon monoxide could have easily traveled into the home. According to the licensed plumber, the following items were not installed correctly: No check valve or expansion tank on cold side. Wasn't supposed to use PEX pipe on the condensation side. The condensation produced by the hot water heater is highly acidic which will erode the PEX pipe. Used the incorrect gas size (pipe was too small) The vent exhaust was installed incorrectly. According to page 41 of the instruction manual for the hot water heater, the exhaust value was supposed to be installed outside the house. The plumber installed our exhaust value into the existing HVAC flume lines which were used by the previous tank hot water heaters that were removed. The tankless hot water heater produces far more condensation than a tank hot water heater, therefore, requiring it to be vented outside. After Southern Phoenix's installation, our flume lines began leaking due to the extra exhaust running through the lines. The excess condensation was running back into the HVAC units which, if left unattended, could have caused significant damage. Similar to the exhaust vent, the clean air vent also needs to run outside the house, however with Southern Phoenix's installation the clean air was inside the house. Southern Phoenix did not unhook the gas installation from the original hot water heaters that was removed. One of the gas lines was left uncapped. Southern Phoenix did not properly cap the exhaust openings from where the old hot water heaters was installed into the flume lines which could have led to carbon monoxide entering the house. Rather than capping correctly to code, they just put foil tape over the opening. Southern Phoenix removed one of the flume lines to the HVAC unit and shoved yellow insulation into the end of the tube - I'm assuming to absorb the extra condensation traveling through the flume lines from the tankless hot water heater. Additionally, they did not reinstall it correctly which could have led to carbon monoxide entering into the home. Rather than resealing the tube to the HAVC system, they taped it using foil tape. Upon hearing all of the life-threatening errors with the installation process, I did not feel safe having Southern Phoenix perform any additional work on my house. I had to immediately hire another licensed plumber to completely properly reinstall the tankless hot water heater on an exterior wall. I tried to contact to Southern Phoenix SEVERAL times to discuss (via phone, email and letter) and they have yet to respond. read more

We finally bit the bullet and decided on a whole house tankless water heater. The tech, Jake, could not have been nicer and more knowledgeable. He spent time explaining how the system works, and what we could expect with our new unit (we went with the Navien 201A). The owner, Julie is awesome. We had some issues with getting the unit to work, but they bent over backwards to resolve the issues! Communication was outstanding, and I never had to worry about them getting us up and running. Called to get a quote for a broken pipe at a neighborhood pool. The prompt response and quick appointment seemed promising, however after giving a quote I was told I owed $40 for the quote. It was at that moment they lost my business, as I was completely blinded sided for having to pay to receive a quote. I can understand for A/C work as the issue has to be diagnosed & takes time. This took no diagnosis & maybe 10 min of time to provide an overpriced quote ($700 more than the next closet quote) The owner did do the right thing to refund the $40, however I would highly recommend this fee be disclosed prior to confirming any appointments. read more

We ended up with a VERY expensive bill to fix a small part that didn't even solve the problem we had with our dishwasher not pulling in water. The plumber who came out did not continue to troubleshoot by replacing the water line, which was original to the house, but just told us it was still a problem with the dishwasher and that we needed to have our appliance tech back out. (Fortunately, the appliance tech is fantastic and is going to fix the plumbing problem they didn't at a very reasonable cost.) Additionally, we did not receive a 10% new customer discount on the invoice and they have not replied to my emails asking about it. Would not recommend. read more

I called Southern Phoenix Services because I had a faulty ejector pump lid and the sewage smell was coming into the house. Matt came to assess the problem and confirmed a large crack and in properly installed seals was causing the problem. He also noticed that there was no cutoff before the check valve. Upon inspecting the check valve, he notice it too was faulty and needed to be replaced. He was very considerate and explained what was wrong and explain and showed how he fixed everything. All and all it was a fair price, as others charge way more money than what is required to get the job done. Upon showing me the completed work, he also let me know he took it upon himself to fix the toilet handle as it was in need of adjustment. Its a stinky job one for which I was not willing to do.. so I am glad they got the job done right. read more

We had another pipe leak, so immediately thought to call SPS since they have come out for a pipe leak before and done amazing work. This time a different plumber came out, and I am sad to say that we did not get the same level of service we have come to expect from SPS. While the pipe was adequately fixed, a mess was left, as was a cigarette butt in our driveway. The worst part was that when the water was turned back on, sediment settled in our faucet. The plumber offered to fix the faucet. Instead he broke it and claimed that it was the fault of the sediment and he quoted us for replacement, saying that he was unable to replace any parts in our faucet where sediment was trapped. My husband could clearly see where the faucet was incorrectly reattached and damaged by the plumber. Contrary to what the plumber said, we were able to easily find a replacement faucet head for our faucet on Amazon and my 76 mother was able to screw it on herself. Definitely not worth the couple of hundred we would have had to pay to the plumber for replacement. read more
