I chose to support a small business and book Southland Mover to help us move. When I contacted the company, I spoke directly to the owner Joseph which was a nice change from the other companies. He has very fast response times, cheaper rates than the big companies and it was easy to find a time that worked for both of us. Also, he is a fun, has good energy and is very courteous. The move went smoothly, he has all the equipment from a HUGE truck to a bunch of dollies, ramps, blankets, wraps, etc. His team even took things apart and put them back together to help things fit in the truck. We had everything from mirrors and glass to a huge armoire and everything was well taken care of. This company is fantastic! I was able to book them the day before I was moving. They were flexible and accommodating due to the fact that I had to move items to two different locations. Clinton and the gang move QUICK, lightening speed! Getting everything in the truck and on the road fast, which translated to dollars saved for me. They disassembled everything that needed to be taken apart and even moved my massive refrigerator, treadmill & elliptical without scratching a single wall. Although they were hustling to get everything done, they remained personable, professional, friendly and were an absolute joy to work with. True gentlemen! I gave the boss Joseph plenty of time to return the stolen item but he never did so I thought I'd share my experience. Joseph made me pay full price for this HORRIBLE service. Even after he confirmed his employees stole from me, he didn't offer me any sort of partial refund. Memorial Day (5/31/21) Joseph dispatched another Joseph and Justin to my house. Where do I even begin..... They walked up to my house smoking weed vape pens. I'm familiar with the brand so I recognized it immediately. We packed up everything except for my roommate's weed vape pen which was sitting in our living room. The 2 men were there 15 minutes before the vape pen sitting in the living room magically disappears. (I then had to spend the rest of the day worrying they'd steal more from us) I blatantly ask them if they took it and one says "is it like this one?" *pulls out his own pen, confirming to me that he does in fact smoke and would have reason to take it* Later when I questioned one individually, he says "I wouldn't be surprised if my partner took it.... I'll talk to him". I even told the two men if it showed up in one of my moving boxes, that'd be great. It didn't. But we'll get back to that.... Second issue: We told the boss Joseph how much stuff would need to be moved, that we had a storage unit also in Riverside full of boxes, and that it would need to be moved to Menifee. Side note: my last place came furnished so for two people the only furniture they had to move were 2 desks, a dresser/hutch, and 1 bed (no headboard). When I went to pay over the phone with the boss, he tried guilting me about how long the job took and said that if he would have known, he would have sent a third guy. UHH, hello! Joseph is the "professional" and when I told him how much stuff and the multiple locations, he should have known it was going to take longer and require at least one other man. After the guilt trip, I had enough. I told Joseph that I was pretty sure they stole from me and told him what it was. When the employees brought the moving truck back in for the day, the boss searched their jacket pockets and found the stolen item. He sent us a photo and we confirmed it was ours. Joseph said he would drop the item at my new house or that he would mail it, neither ever happened. When the boss confronted the two men, they physically assaulted him. Joseph wasn't going to press charges but did ask me if I wanted to press charges over the stolen pen. I said NO because I had also heard these men talking about how they used to be in jail!! I was NOT going to rock the boat when these men know where I live and that I got them fired. Lastly, and it could be because it was their third job of the day, it was hot, and I had already confronted their thievery... but they were so careless with my stuff! No consideration for stuff clearly labeled FRAGILE. They would take too many boxes at once and clearly struggle. One fell twice while carrying my stuff, I think because he was rushing downhill. We have a kiddie pool to bathe our dog and Joseph put my metal hammock stand in the kiddie pool, folded it in half and carried it to the truck. Hello! I don't want my thin plastic pool folded in half and used to carry a big metal item! Also, they lost 1 of the 8 pieces to my metal hammock stand, making it useless. Even on OfferUp, they run about $100... so it's not a cheap replacement. (I think this pisses me off more than the thievery because I just want to relax in my hammock, man...) Just go elsewhere. I never thought I'd have to worry about movers stealing from me and making me feel unsafe in my home. I feel fine now but there were definitely a couple weeks at first where I felt unsafe, worrying that these 2 men would come retaliate against two women after we got them fired. Super super professional. Gabriel and his crew did a fantastic job. Not knowing how long it would take, I told Gabriel that since I pretty much boxed everything that it should only take a few hours. Needless to say I was wrong and I had more stuff than I thought. Gabriel is all about efficiency and making sure his customers are aware of everything. We've used Other companies for our business and personal moves for the past 11 years. Time is money - especially when hiring movers. But out of all of them hands down Southland Movers were the best! Nothing broke, they carefully wrapped our furniture pieces and transported all our items safely to our new location. What I did witness with the owner, Joseph, was even while moving the heaviest of furniture pieces - he was still guiding his team on proper lifting technique's, not only to prevent injury, but also not damage any of my newly painted walls. Our old piano was transported without any damage to the keys . For efficiency and faster loading time they offered larger boxes at no additional cost to load my small store-bought moving boxes into, which allowed for less trips up and down the stairs at both locations.
