We got out seats and water was brought out right away (even water for our dog we had with us)! Our waitress, Luna, was just so bubbly and friendly & that just instantly put me in a great mood to be there. She told us the special of the friend pickles & I wish they were on the menu everyday because they were hands down the best fried pickles I've ever eaten (& I've eaten a lot of fried pickles) The food and our drinks were great & fresh. We visited with a large group from a car rally that was visiting Chattanooga on one of our stops. While seating inside was very limited we filled in the outside patio area and made it work. Bartenders were attentive, very accommodating, and had hustled to get out drinks and food out in a timely manner. We had the brisket platter (soooo good! nice blend of meat and fat), the Gandalf pizza (delicious!), and brisket nachos (huge serving and a great blend of all ingredients). Drink specials were tasty, but the margaritas tasted like they had bitters in them - not horrible, just not what we are used to. All in all a great dinner and atmosphere. We came in at 3:30 on a Tuesday ... $5 margarita was a good basic/starter. Tried the killer bee cocktail which was sweet but tasty. Chili nachos were flavorful and filling. The promenade IPA was a tasty $4 pint special. Kids had the pizza and fries and were very happy. We had a great time eating and playing games for 3 hrs and even with a 20% tip it costs us like $55. Refused entry to an international student because her ID was "fake" even though it said explicitly that she is not a US citizen. Then when she tried to show a picture of her passport, they refused to even look at it. The security guard was extremely rude for no reason. He just kept telling her it was fake and angrily telling us to get out of the way of other people. read more

Look you guys have a cool place...with that being said some of your staff could be a bit friendlier. 1-Your staff only places/STAIRWELL should be roped off. Now look. I work in a restaurant and I'm sure you guys get tired of people trouncing up and down your stairs but it's not very obvious it's a sever stairwell. Okay yeah sure you have signs on your lights, I see that now. After being scorned by a waitress and going back upstairs. It needs to be eye level. 2-Lane 10 should not be used by ANYBODY. Everytime we went to bowl we had to get out of someone's way who was carrying a tray back and forth to the bar area or a customer trouncing through to go get a drink. Move about 3 of those chairs, have people go BEHIND lane 10 bowlers and construct it to where its a step down and put wheel chair access somewhere else. You guys are going to have a lawsuit at that corner. My husband slipped about 15 times and he tripped about 4. Or close lane 9/10. Either way someone is still going to hurt themselves, especially with their drunk selves. We quit our game early because of constantly having to get out of someone's way. 3-Oh so you are having a private party? We couldn't use the upstairs bar? I'm so confused at this. He was stocked and if I'm allowed upstairs then shouldn't I be allowed to buy something from you? Like if you are a private bartender for the party then close the upstairs floor. Or have a makeshift bar in a closed off section of the top floor. How that whole party was laid out completely baffled me. I honestly just wanted change for a five and couldn't get acknowledged by the upstairs bartender. So okay cool. I know if I had waited there long enough I would have, but that's not how I do things. I see someone who needs help...I help them. So as you can see most of my complaints stem from customer service, but with that being said there are some great things going on. The food was great. We didn't eat much, just two appetizers but they were hot, tasted fresh, very yummy. Came out quick. Saw a few pizzas go by and the smelled DELICIOUS. So I'm pretty sure the food here is top notch. The downstairs bartender was good. He wasnt too chatty or anything just trying to make a dollar, going through the motions. There is so much to do! You get bored of one thing you could go somewhere else. Well on a normal night I'm sure you could. Outside area could be so much fun when it warms up a bit. Love the fire pit option. This would have been 4 possibly 5 stars but I was disappointed by the kitchen, but not in the way you'd think. First off the quality of food has extremely increased since we were last there. The freshness and flavor combination (esp with the bbq nachos) was soooo good. One of my biggest pet peeves with food service is when they alter the food and don't let you know about it but it can also be dangerous with people's food allergies. I was lucky this was not the case in my situation. I ordered the shrimp tacos. On the menu it states "mango salsa", what I got was pineapple salsa. First off it just comes out like that, we weren't given the consideration of asking if I was ok with that change. Second, according to the server when she inquired about the pineapple in the kitchen the cook said "they're not supposed to know that". WHAT??!?!!? It says it on the menu!!! What horrible customer service!! So they "fixed" it by basically giving me a shrimp taco with pico on it. And while it was still good, it was just ok comparatively and NOT what I ordered. The server did apologize but with knowing what the response was in the kitchen I was extremely let down. The reason I care is because I do have food allergies and pineapple is not one of them but IF I was, it would have been a serious issue. Again the quality of the food is WAY better than it used to be but that attitude in the kitchen knocked them down in my rating. I really hate to do that because the food is great. read more

Planned a weekend getaway with family and this place was on our list for bowling. Very fun afternoon. The leather couches are comfy and the atmosphere is eclectic. Drinks are pretty good. Prices to bowl are moderate. The website recommended emailing to reserve a lane on weekends which they said they didn't see in their system (I definitely sent it) but it was no biggie as they were able to accommodate us. I participated in a Yelp Event and while I had been there once before I was pleasantly surprised. It is rustic and has an upstairs and downstairs with bars and plenty of seating. It is an adult playground with bowling, shuffleboard, ping pong and pool tables and a couple of Ski Ball machines (Hint - the ski balls keep coming back so you can play forever. However the score board stops adding scores once you use the initial set of balls). The shuffleboard pucks were in need of repair and the pool tables were worn but were full size and pretty good action. Outside, people were playing corn hole and I think they had horseshoes and with the wood stacked up, I think they have a fire pit. There is lots of outside seating also. Apparently, all the games are free except for bowling. SSS hosted us and had food set up with wings and shrimp. The dry rubbed wings were awesome, they were spicy and a little hot but really really good. They have draught beer (+1) and everyone working there was helpful and friendly. This gets a 4+. I think I found every single hipster in Chattanooga during my recent visit to Southside Social. I was in town for a concert and we were supposed to meet someone to sell an extra ticket. She asked us to meet her at Southside Social before the show. We stopped in and sold the ticket and stuck around to take in the surroundings. For those of you from Atlanta, this place is exactly like the Painted Pin except you substitute the Buckhead crowd with hipsters. There are several bowling lanes that are rented out at $35 per hour. Nice big couches for you to relax in between throwing balls down the lane. There's plenty of additional seating throughout the space. The lower level has lots of big couches and communal tables around the bar. The upper level has plenty of tables for grabbing food. Simply put, this is a fun play to bowl and eat some great food. Comfy couches instead of the typical plastic chair you see at similar establishments, reasonable prices per hour of play (come before 7pm for a better rate). I give it one star because I just had a terrible experience with the security guard as I was racially profiled. I went to the rail to say hey to my friends that were coming in to the place, but was kicked out by a big black security guard who claimed he had warned me that he already told me not to be on the rail when it was a lie. After conversing with my friends I found out that there was another Hispanic person that was warned at the rail. To no avail after trying to communicate with the security guard I was faced with no understanding, or even any attempt to understand that I was the wrong person. He didn't care he didn't bother to listen to me. Thereafter there was a Caucasian man that he warned and didn't kick out. It felt very racially motivated considering my friends told me that there was another Hispanic that got warned, and it made me sad considering we're both apart of minority groups. Let me preface this review with the fact that the Southside Social is an amazing bar. The space is enormous, and the menu is a strong mix of new american pub food with a southern flair. That being said, this is a bar with food. It is a wonderful bar, but at best a mediocre restaurant. At worst it is flavorless food in a community of vibrant restaurants. We visited as a family this fall break. We're a couple with 2 boys (13 and 15). The food was fine but we had the most fun bowling. They have about 10 lanes. The boys also played ping pong and we all played pinball. They have a skeeball table and shuffleboard but they really weren't in working order. They were pulling out corn hole as we left. It's a big place so we're able to mostly spread out from others in the middle of the day. read more
