My family and I always pass by Southside Tavern frequently and finally decided to give it a try on a Saturday night for dinner. We arrived around 5pm and was offered a table inside the tent. It was a party of 5 plus a baby and they tried to seat us at a 4 person table. There was no way we we were going to fit-- not to mention there were a ton of larger tables available. The host finally agreed and sat us down at a larger table. We waited about 10 minutes for our server to come by. Although she was friendly, she was extremely slow. It took 30 minutes for our drinks and a round of water to come out. We ordered our appetizers and entrees at once because we didn't want to wait any longer, like we did with our drinks. It took over 45-50 minutes for our entrees to come out. Other tables who sat down and order after us got their food before us. We ordered clam chowder, Buffalo chicken nachos, fried pickles, steak tips, bacon cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger calzone, and tortellini. The appetizers were all delicious and better than we anticipated. The Buffalo chicken was everyone's favorite! It was nicely spread all throughout the nacho chips and they gave a good portion of chicken as well. The fried pickles were yummy and their spicy sauce was unique. The steak tips were perfection and surprisingly came in a good portion with mashed potatoes and fries. The tortellini was eh, definitely won't be getting again. It tasted like store bought freezer tortellini. The bacon cheeseburger was super average. However their sweet potato fries that came as a side were delicious. The bacon cheeseburger calzone was interesting.. it was just about the same as the bacon cheeseburger but for some reason tasted better than the actual burger. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks-- 3 beers and 6 cocktails. The red sangria wasn't the best. Their white sangria and raz lime rickey were everyones favorites-- it was nice and refreshing and fruity, yet you can really taste the alcohol. Overall, this is an average place. Great for groups and to watch the game inside. If you go at night, I would try to get either indoor or outdoor seating that has the portable heaters. The tables inside the tents was freezing since they didn't have the portable heaters in there. The tent seating gave us summer fairs and summer bbq vibes, again--great for groups with friends. I would highly recommend their buffalo chicken nachos, steak tips, and summer white sangria! I wish the service was better. There should be no reason why we had to wait 30 minutes for drinks and nearly an hour our entrees without being checked up on. Plus, it was hard to distinguish who actually worked there since not a single employee had there name tags on. read more

If I can take away start I will 100% ,I will start with the waitress guy put down my holster and throwing My Wife holster at her we order 2 sprites he comeback with sodas put them down in the table not in the holster smh ‍,we order a BBQ pizza and some nachos OMG just looks like they empty the BBQ bottle in a cheese pizza was so gross and the nachos they put a bunch of cheese on top of chips and microwaved them you can tell by the way the cheese came out of the microwave. It was hard as a rock in 3 minutes anyway I take a sip of my sprite and it was flat sierra mist so I asked my waitress. What is this? I order a sprite he goes. Oh you can tell the difference,. oh my God ,.can someone tell this gentleman sierra Mist and sprite are two different sodas. So anyway at this point I want to just take off I told the guy we done he brings me the bill was $38 I give him $60 I was going to hide him a $7 dollar tip but no he bring me back 2 $10 bills and $2 dollars he did that for I can just left him a $10 kind of felt obligated I will never go back again and not to mention the vibe on that place was uncomfortable. read more

Where to begin... This review is not reflective of our lovely and amazing server who tried valiantly to give us a great experience despite the bar and kitchens complete incompetence and lack of care. There are many things that shall be mentioned in this. Firstly, I ordered a Guinness and my misses ordered a gimlet...a classic cocktail with three ingredients. The bartender handed our server what I can only describe as a massive pour of gin with 5 lime wedges and a splash of club soda. Now we enjoy to drink as much as the next person...but not what you want before going into what we thought would be a reasonable pub dinner. Or what you would expect when you order a gimlet. Guinness was great. Our server came back and asked if everything was ok, so we had to have the awkward conversation where we try to get a simple cocktail without outright saying the bartender doesn't know what he's doing. We give the ounce-age and drink making directions. Yet again a gimlet did not arrive. Onto the food. Now I know we are 30miles from the cape but acquiring "fresh" (as it was described on the menu) cod should not be a challenge. The fish sandwich I ordered looked like the perfect simple sandwich you would order at any great pub with access to fresh local (less than 30mins local) cod. What arrived was vastly different. As I took the first bite, it was evident that this fish was frozen, overcooked, on its last grim day of complete carelessness of product and absolutely no salt. Not even on the limp, pallid fries. No salt on fries? Who does this? My misses who ordered their $14 "harvest" salad received what I can only describe as bagged mixed lettuces tossed into an aggressively big bowl, with dressing that tasted like pam spray. Again no salt. There was some julienned carrots tho so...that's cool. After telling the server that we wanted the bill despite our full plates, she asked if everything was ok again. We told her there were some issues with the food but that we would be happy to pay for everything and there we no service issues. She was great. She told the manager and he took off the fish sandwich BUT like a coward he sent her back to tell us about the final bill. Again, we were happy to pay for everything and make sure our server was tipped for her time and tremendous effort. For a manager to send her back to apologize for what was not her fault reflects his disinterest in caring for staff or customers and his complete obliviousness to what it means to provide a proper experience. Bathroom was extremely dirty when I was there 8/9/22. It smelled horrific and there were feces smeared all over the toilet seat. A complete health hazard. I've been this place a few times keep hoping it will get better, but it never does. I've always had a very pleasant and helpful service, but the food is subpar and the drinks are over priced and watered down. I don't think they know how to do much more than pull a beer or pour a glass of wine. Most of the clientele seem to be locals who know each other and certainly don't make you feel welcome if you come and sit at the bar with them. This is a great location in a spot that could do so much more. And they did a great job during Covid turning their front parking space into an outdoor eating space. But again, I wish they would improve upon the quality of their food and take more care into the crafting of their cocktails. read more

I'll revise my previous statement to say the quality of food is well above average for a bar/pub. It now seems like they have permanent outdoor seating, which is great. This has been for a couple of years now Braintree's hot and happening restaurant, it's always packed. The food is good, they do a great burger, the Mac & Cheese is very good. Overall the items on the menu are winners. The one downside is that because it gets so crowded you can feel literally surrounded by people. The tables are in some places inches away from each other, and the bar gets so packed that the people standing having a drink are halfway into the dinning area. Pros: Beautiful outdoor seating and perfect service. Cons: Inadequate parking. Handicapped spaces are inexplicably farther away from the entrance than all other spaces. Also, their black bean/veggie burger was roughly the texture of guacamole. The mouth feel wasn't good. I feel like I was eating guacamole on a hamburger roll with onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. I didn't see any other vegetarian options on the menu, and I wouldn't recommend this burger. In summary: It's probably a good restaurant for the right person. This place recently open this year and was total transformed to a ultra chic sports bar with nice picture windows on the bar side of the restaurant.. It boast plenty of flat screen TV's to watch a sporting event here, the bar side does get extremely loud when they have the volume up. It is all high top tables & stools in this section. They carry a lot of different bottle beers & have a great selection of martinis too. The dining room can hold a lot of people however there are no booths what so ever. I came here with my girl & guy friends last night, (Friday around 8:00pm). We got seated right away, but I think after a certain time, they do start checking ID's. which at my age, I love getting carded. :) We started with the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Shredded chicken with melted cheeses baked, served with vegetables sticks & tortilla chips. on the Entrees, we got 2 pizzas to split between the 3 girls, it is a traditional pub thins crust pizza, mushroom & sausage and plain cheese. Nice & Fresh with gooey, cheesy love. One of the guys got a Bacon Cheese burger, which came out a perfect medium rare & was huge, you can get a choice of regular fries or sweet potato fries & the other got a Reuben that was piled pretty high. The food was great, but the service is very inconsistent here, the waitress in the dining room was great but later in the night we moved over to the bar area & our waiter sucked. we wouldn't see him up to 15 minutes at times even after placing out drink order. Have driven by Southside Tavern numerous times in the past month but have never actually stopped to try, last night be and GF decided to give it a shot. Service was great, were seated almost immediately. She got the watermelon cucumber mojito that was refreshing and tasty. For an app we got the steak and cheese spring rolls that were very good! Looks good if I was ever able to eat. We've been here standing since 10:30... (its now 11:45) they apparently are holding tables for 12pm. There's also 2 people sitting at another table just drinking water. They shouldn't have taken reservations during a World Cup game. Sucks cuz I was hoping to add this to our regular brunch spots - it probably is good on a normal Sunday. Just poorly managed during a big event. It's busy but not really to capacity. Hell, I would have eaten standing until they could find us a table. I've actually never heard of a bar/Buffett holding tables ever.. never mind during a major sporting event. It's a good sized place with lots of seating and a bar area. We started with the pretzel sticks - huge fan! We both got burgers...he ordered the fireman burger and I ordered the classic...oh by the way - they have tater tots! How could you not get them with your meal?!?! Everyone was very friendly. On the way back from Newport on July 7th, we stopped to get lunch at Southside Tavern based on the wide array of food they offered and patio seating. (I believe it was) Rory was an excellent server. Being our first time, we asked for recommendations and she delivered. She was super patient, esp w my 9 year old. To start, we got the Buffalo wings. Solid wings. The perfect amount of sauce. My brother got onion strings to put in the salad we were going to share, but the rings didn't last until then. Tasty! My brother and I said we were going to split the Ceaser salad w steak tips. We should have gotten the steak tips w ceaser salad as the salad came w 3 or 5? tips and we wanted more. The salad was great (homemade croutons) and the tips were grilled perfectly. I enjoyed the marinade and the fact that it wasn't teriyaki. Since I also got the scallops plate, I only took one steak tip. My plate was surprisingly delicious. The seared scallops came on a bed of bacon and corn and topped w a avocado/jalapeño mousse w asparagus as my side. The combination of flavors was very tasty! My mom got a bunless California burger that had guac and my son got a plate of kids spaghetti and both liked it. For dessert we got two skillet, chocolate cookies w ice cream and it was the perfect ending to the meals. I wish I would have taken more pics! We live nowhere near the south shore but this place was great and busy, even in the middle of a Tuesday.
