Number 2, Brown Sugar, Soy Milk Base, Cold
    Albert T.

I hadn't planned on visiting SoyTalk over this trip to Vancouver (and I hadn't heard of this place either) until I saw them on Too Good To Go. I didn't purchase a surprise bag, but I was intrigued with all of the soy desserts that I had to come in for a visit. Number 2, Brown Sugar, Soy Milk Base, Cold ($11) - We weren't sure what to order, so we went with one of the pre-made options with tapioca pearls, taro/sweet potato balls, brown sugar, and a soy milk base. For the cold option, they give two small ice cream scoops of brown sugar flavored granita, which combined with a brown sugar drizzle on top of the soy milk, gives a not-too-sweet sweetness level to the dessert. Everything else in this dessert is fantastic as well. The soy pudding is smooth without any grittiness and displays an exceptionally soy beany taste. The taro/sweet potato balls are cooked to perfection, giving off a superior chewy bounce that takes quite a jaw workout to get through. The pearls, which are pretty normal sized boba pearls, are also cooked to a good consistency, being firm, but nicely chewy. Since they can include pearls in both hot and cold desserts, I assume they have to balance the firmness of the tapioca. The brown sugar adds a deep caramel taste. Everything is doused in a soy milk base that works well to meld all the flavors together. Overall a solid dessert. (5/5) SoyTalk seems to be rated poorly on Yelp, but I thought it was quite good. It's very rare for me to skip an entire day of boba when visiting such a boba heavy city. But for SoyTalk, I was satisfied enough from this dessert that I did just that. Washrooms - One unisex room

TALK SOY TO ME One of my favourite dessert shops in Richmond has finally opened and they have the cutest new desserts! @soytalk is a health forward dessert cafe that serves a variety of soy based treats. You can expect to find fresh soy tofu pudding that's made in-house daily, as well as a variety of other delicious treats like soy shaved ice, and fresh soy milks in tons of unique flavours. We were obsessed the their new cute and jiggly duck pudding that comes in a set with the chewiest taro balls and roasted nut powder. The pudding itself was not too sweet, and had the consistency of jelly--super refreshing and smooth. My favourite though, was definitely their new Supreme Taro Soy Pudding. The bowl come with their fresh house-made tofu pudding, and is topped with fresh taro paste, chewy taro balls (big and small), and their signature soy shaved ice (unlimited refill). I loved how fragrant the fresh taro flavour was, and this bowl had just the perfect hint of sweetness to enhance the nuttiness of the soy and taro. We also ordered their signature soy pudding #3 which was topped with their brown sugar shaved ice, taro balls, and pearls. This bowl was definitely a lot sweeter because of the brown sugar, but still super refreshing if you're looking for a sweeter treat. SoyTalk also has a unique menu of soy milk drinks that are offered in tons of flavours that we had not seen before. We opted to try a strawberry and a mango, and both were delicious. They also have tons of other drinks like tofu milk teas, and your classic iced teas and slushes on the menu as well. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you guys are ever craving for Asian desserts without the guilt. Have you guys ever tried SoyTalk? 9/10 ‍10/10 $$ (approx. $10-$20/person) SoyTalk | 1410-4380 No. 3 Rd, Richmond, BC [media] Thank you to @soytalk for the invite

I was researching places for dessert when I was planning out my Vancouver trip. I decided to spend my last day in the city of Richmond to see what types of Asian foods were offered in the area. As someone who loves soy milk & tofu (as in i could eat it daily), I was so glad to come across this place that offered a different take on taiwanese type desserts. I ordered the signature soy pudding dessert which came with boba, sweet potato ball, taro ball. I ordered it for to-go to eat it at my hotel after dinner. The tofu pudding was silky and delicious. It was a really nice balance of sweetness. I really wish there was a place like this in the Bay Area or LA. On another note - I almost did not walk into the store because I saw the sign said closed. But I saw some people sitting inside so I decided to pop in.

Soy talk has been a dessert spot I've been wanted to try for the longest time! They specialize in soy based treats and offer ice cream, tofu pudding, soy milk and more. We ordered the grass jelly with soy milk dessert and it had SO MANY TOPPINGS! It came with QQ balls (sweet potato, taro, matcha), grass jelly, red bean, sago and a few of their signature red bean stuffed tapioca pearls. Overall, we enjoyed the dessert and it probably would have tasted much better warm. The grass jelly was fresh and the QQ balls were chewy. Our only complaint would be that we left our dessert in the fridge for a while so the red bean stuffed pearls were hard in texture. We aren't sure if this was because they were in the fridge or if they were this way but we weren't a fan. We tried to heat it up to see if the temperature was impacting it but it was not the case.

This is more of a 3.5 review but I'm rounding it down because I left feeling a little unsatisfied. We found this place through yelp and was interested as it was soy based desserts. The interior is very cute and what you get is also super cute. We got the original soft serve and Oreo soft serve. Both definitely has the soy taste that you get when you drink unsweetened soy milk. It's grainy and not too creamy. The Oreo didn't really do much to the soft serve as the soy was overpowering. It took a really long time to get our dessert even though we were the only ones there. The menu description also didn't reflect what we got and also the yelp pictures from other yelpers were different as well. Not sure if they just use what they had on hand? Overall, cute place and it was good to try but not something I would go back

    Oreo Soy Ice Cream

Lactose intolerant humans, rejoice! My order: Brown Sugar Taro Soy Drink: Taro balls were very soft & chewy, and the brown sugar isn't too overpowering or sweet. Oreo Soy Ice Cream was creamy (but still a little icy compared to traditional ice cream), and low sweetness as well. It's their regular soy milk ice cream (not Oreo flavoured) - just Oreo crumbs sprinkled on top. Located in Parker Place in Richmond.

I enjoy eating unsweet ice creams, so when i tasted their signature soft soy ice cream I was delighted of how good it was, not so sweet yet smooth and a good alternative to those with lactose intolerance. We also had the signature pudding with additional toppings it was as well good love the brown sugar taste it just goes well with the pudding. The signature mochi was so soft and stretchy love eating it while its warm. I bought two of their bottled soya milk, the original flavour which I really liked it was not sweet yet creamy. The only one I did not like much is the matcha sponge cake, I think it does not have taste on it, not sure but I fined it bland and nothing special on it. Overall, they do have lots of awesome menu, clean and pretty decors, I'd love to try their hot soya drinks next time.

    Crystal T.

Was disappointed that they don't have ice cream today but not their fault. I tried several items they have and I'm not hating it but also not loving it. Only showing the cake cups and mochi but also ordered two drinks - taro soy and also green bean soy - It was my first time trying it out, and perhaps my expectations were set too high since I love soy products but it was really "meh". I feel like recipes are off... some of them are WAYYYYYYY too sweet, and some of them have no flavour what so ever.

    Marianne C.

I've been wanting to try their soy-based ice cream and I was awed upon discovering how many items they offer! They have some cakes, pudding, mochi, and even toasts! I ended up ordering their original ice cream and the cake-in-a-tin (original flavour) item. The flavours were quite similar - strongly soy-taste. If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to let go of my understanding of an ice cream - I shouldn't expect a creamy taste nor a creamy, smooth texture - it's based on soy and not milk, and that makes a lot of difference =) The texture was closer to that of an icy sorbet, grainy to a point. The soy floss helped bring some variety and contrast in the texture and flavour, but again... don't expect a rich creamy flavour. It added a nice little crunch to the experience though! I think those who prefer their ice cream not too sweet would like their ice cream as well, as it wasn't too sugary, and it felt healthy/guilt-free having it! The staff was nice and the store was bright and clean. There was some soft music playing which added to the 'chill' feel of the store.

We needed a place to relax while the parents were shopping at Parker Place. My bro-in-law spotted this place which looks fairly new and intriguing. A dessert shop dedicated to all things soy! Soy Milk, Soy Pudding, Soy Custard, Soy Mochi, etc. It will definitely be on the healthier side of the dessert spectrum, provided you don't go overboard with toppings. Despite just coming back from a great, but filling dim sim lunch at Yue we decided to squeeze in room for dessert. The Steamed Soy Custard seems to be the better of the two desserts. Soft, fluffy and warm soy custard with just a hint of sweetness topped by marble-sized, chewy boba. Simple and good. The Black Sesame Soy Pudding smelled great but I would say its more of an acquired taste. The texture is sticky and slimy, and us engineers may call it viscoelastic - exhibiting properties of a solid and liquid, depending on the situation. Good black sesame power (which I loved), but man that funky texture is not for me. Note they had some issues with US Amex credit cards, but they do take cash and WeChat pay. I can see myself coming back for soy milk, but maybe pass on the puddings!

    Charlie T.

I normally don't drink or eat much soy milk/products, but am always open to trying it out especially when it involves soft serve! I was eager to try out the black sesame flavor and the mango ones, but they were out. I had a swirl of the original and matcha flavor. The texture was a bit more coarse and not as smooth as I would like it, however, you can definitely tell it its soy base and the flavor is there. I liked the larger brown sugar boba that came with the soft serve. I haven't had that kids d of boba where there's a piece of red bean in the middle. I also had some of the signature soy pudding and the brown sugar one. Both of them were pretty tasty. The person helping us was very friendly and also let me sample the flavors they had available, which was helpful.

First time trying this place out, and I like it. They have some unique stuff like Soy milk soft serve (but its kind of like soy milk ice, rather than a creamy base). They also have red-bean filled boba. Pretty cool. and also bean curd floss instead of a pork floss. Their tofu pudding and soy milk looks legit too, but had to save it for next time

Overall, I had a great experience at Soytalk. The service was excellent, and the café was decorated nicely and had a great ambiance. Soytalk serves a healthy alternative to traditional dairy-based desserts! The desserts here are so cute and taste yummy too. If you're a fan of soy, I think you would love Soytalk but if not, it's probably not for you (since their desserts have a very prominent soy flavor).

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)
