I bought 3 appliances in the 80,s. Great prices fast delivery. Sad to see its gone. I would go to the Dorchester store only

A couple of months ago, our gas stove died on us and we needed a replacement. We wanted something nice, but not absolute" top of the line" thousands of dollars type of appliance either. Well we went to one local place in quincy Hancock TV and Appliance to be precise----and there were three sales people in there, one couple looking at very high end stuff (no other customers) and all the sales help were with these people, we were patient, but didn't get anything much in the way of service, we even went back the next day, and still they were not overly helpful at all. We went to best buy and couldn't even find a sales person in the appliance department, lowes which was ok---had a nice sales person, but the instillation of a gas stove was going to be very pricey through them. Finally, on a fluke we went to Sozio Appliances. We had driven by there all the time but never really thought to go there. The sales manager was there and he was so pleasant and informative, he really spent time with us going over all the options, we didn't feel rushed, or pressured into buying something more expensive, etc...we got just exactly the stove we wanted and it was 100 dollars less than at Hancock TV and appliance, and also the plumber contracted to install ended up being less expensive as well! We may not have bought the most expensive appliance in the store, but all the other places I mentioned missed out on a $1400.00 sale! You'd think that with the economy as bad as it is, salepeople would be out there really trying to help a customer, but it was not the case in most places---The next time we need a large appliance we will definitely go back to Sozio. "Sozio" is a dirty word in my house. The only way I am going to be able to get through this review is by taking a lot of breaks. When I moved into my new apartment on September first, the dishwasher leaked. By the eleventh, we'd contacted the landlord who ordered a new dishwasher. They were sold an under-the-counter when it turned out we needed a portable. That's okay-- I can't expect the salesperson to be a mind reader (I think I can expect that they could look at the landlord's records and notice that when they sold them a dishwasher before, it was portable). It's also possibly not their fault that the people dropping off the new (wrong) dishwasher couldn't remove the old one-- though I don't think they adequately communicated that to my landlord beforehand that he would have to remove it. When we finally got them back out two or three weeks after their first visit to remove the old one and install the new one, I can begin to blame them. If all that you do in the world is sell appliances and install appliances... you'd think you'd know what is up. But when the third installer, Paul, came in, he immediately noticed what the previous installers didn't-- we'd been sold the wrong kind of dishwasher and it wouldn't fit. Paul was really helpful and talked to my landlord, telling them we'd need to either purchase a converter for the under-the-counter style dishwasher or buy a portable one. He left the under-the-counter style, as we'd payed for it and expected to have a converter kit for it soon. A full month and one missed and one cancelled installation appointment later, it is still sitting in my kitchen. This is weeks after we purchased a portable one instead. Our constant phone calls to Sozio have returned everything from "We're getting the converter from another company" to (a week later) "we've ordered it and it should be in tomorrow--we'll call you" to (a week after that) to "I'm doing all I can, more or less," and "I don't care how many phone calls you have made." And let's not forget the near-constant refrain of "that's not my job." Listen, I know it sucks when a customer starts getting mad at you for something that really isn't your fault. But are you kidding me? I don't care whose fault it is-- it's your problem if I'm on the phone with you. And the fact that you don't care is why I am mad. When we told them that if we didn't have it installed by the end of the week (again, after a solid month of back-and-forth, with us calling them, and them failing to call us back) that we'd be contacting the BBB, we were told to contact whomever we wanted. So here we are, Yelp! The price might be right, but it's not worth the hassle and their epic unprofessionalism and lack of customer service. If you're forced by finances to go here, whatever you do, don't work with John. He's a total buck-passer and he couldn't care less about helping you to get what you paid for. This company is, by far, the worst company in the history of appliances. We purchased a fridge and dishwasher with the delivery included at an additional $150. Then the delivery man "threw his back out". So they refunded our money, but no one else would put it in for less than $250. Then they damaged the common areas of our condo when delivering and left big stains on the fridge. If you ever want to talk to mr. sozio? forget it. This man is a first rate scumbag who never answers his messages. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! I ordered a W/D for my condo assoc and the dryer top came in broken, which was ok at first, but trying to get one the was not broken took 4 months and Vanessa the Office Manager did not give two shits about it. We had to keep following up with her on the order and she NEVER called to give an update, after many time I told her I wanted her to give me an update as I am the buyer, she never did. Then I get a call on a Sat morning saying the delivery guys are at my condo, I was like umm, I had no idea you were coming. They were not shocked at all that Vanessa never told me. I guess she sucks all around (even her own co-workers think she awful). Because of her I would NEVER EVER buy from this place again! Vanessa go find a job where you don't have to talk to people! We were trying to procure a specific fridge and had been to many vendors who do not stock the item. When we contacted Sozio, Mr. Sozio said that he would order it for us. We sent them a purchase order and placed the order before our winter break. A month and a half later we still did not have the fridge. When I called to see what was taking so long, Mr. Sozio spoke to me like it was my fault that I did not have the fridge. He was very aggravated and loud, when he had everything that he needed from my department. In two days I was informed that they were shipping the order. When it arrived it was not only the fridge that we ordered, it varied on all the points I said it could not vary on: dimensions and must have no freezer. The unit was not accepted by the department and returned that day. The staff that answers the phone sound like they could care less if you got your appliances and are less willing to help you solve problems. I do not know if they treat customers who enter the store differently, but I know that after this experience I would not want to. read more

I stopped in at this store looking to purchase a refrigerator, but was careful to not let the salesman know I needed a new unit - I told him I was just considering an upgrade in the near future. Believing that he wasn't making a sale that day, he immediately turned around and walked away. I was the only person in the store. I browsed around for a few minutes and saw they carried a brand I had wanted to buy. I approached him and asked him about the brand. He called this product (that he sells) "junk". When I asked him to explain what makes this brand "junk", he couldn't - he just said reviews online were bad. When I asked him to explain some of the reviews, he couldn't. He just said repeatedly that this brand is "junk". He was unable to properly name what country this company is located from. He then suggested I purchase a brand he didn't stock, providing the incorrect website to learn about the item. Worst of all - was his repulsive, half-century old toupee that had goop and junk falling out of it with fewer than fifty strands of hair remaining attached. I was gagging just looking at this guy's head and had to cut him off mid-sentence to leave the store as I (no exaggeration) thought I was going to vomit. (I have never been this disgusted, even when observing autopsies at the Medical Examiner's office). I drove one mile to Yale Appliance and Lighting, was treated like absolute gold, was given objective information about items, and made a purchase. read more

I wanted to spend my dollars at a local business when I needed a new fridge, since local dollars go much farther in the economy. I had driven past sozio so many times that I figured I'd just go there. It was a nightmare. They sold me a fridge they couldn't deliver, and it took weeks and the threat of small claims court to get what I had paid for. read more

We purchased kitchen appliances from Sozio and had them deliver and install the appliances. Unfortunately, when they removed the old appliances out of the apartment they scraped them against the (metal) door in back, and left large silver dents and scratches that cannot be repaired. What's much more disappointing than the damage, is that after several calls first to the company and later to Mr Sozio, Mr Sozio has elected not to take responsibility. I spoke with him a few weeks ago, the week after the installation and removal. He first insisted that 'his guys' did not remove the old appliances, that they had only delivered and installed the new ones. I insisted (several times) that they had removed the old appliances as well, so while I was on the phone with him he asked one of the delivery people. The delivery person told him, yes, that they had removed the old appliances as well. Then he asked had they damaged the door. They said that they had not. He next told me that they had not moved anything through that particular door. I insisted they had. He asked the delivery person who told him that they had moved the items through the back door. Next, he insisted his guys had not caused the damage either way, it must have been someone else. It was not anyone else- no one else moved large metal appliances out that door and the scratches were not there before the appliance removal/delivery. Eventually, Mr Sozio agreed that it must have been his delivery men, and reluctantly agreed to contribute to the cost of a new door. He told me to phone him back once we'd selected a new door. We selected a new door and I phoned Mr Sozio- I've left several messages for him to phone me back, he has not. I would definitely not recommend dealing with this company. They may offer nice package deals on appliances, but the owner has no integrity. If you run into problems you can be sure that he will not take responsibility for his, nor his employees, actions. read more

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!! I bought a fridge, in the Danvers store that did not fit my space and they refused to take it back. I had to remove my storm door to get the fridge to fit. To this day I have no storm door. The owner refused to address my problem and never returned any of my calls. I don't know how they have stayed in business for so long. I would imagine that they do very little repeat business. Every time I see the scumbag owner on a bill board, I flip him the bird and want to vomit. Go to Sears around the corner. The customer service is unsurpassed. I bought a fridge there first that did not fit, and they took it back with no questions or delivery charge. Hopefully with enough bad reviews (and there are many that I see) they will finally go out of business. If the owner sees this review, I have only this to say "I wish you pain" read more

We usually don't post reviews but want to forewarn you. We ordered a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove fan from the store. We gave a deposit but they held off ordering because we were having work done to the condo. They never told us to let them know to order. Thus, delays. Finally, on the first delivery, they only had two appliances ready -- the dishwasher and the refrigerator. We had to send the refrigerator back because it was dented. On the second delivery, the stove had a broken handle, sent that back. They delivered the wrong sized oven fan -- sent it back. We gave up on Sozio ~ worst store ever. We had to scramble to find an appliance store to deliver a stove and refrigerator and used Home Depot. Contractor got the fan. Why didn't we do that sooner? Don't waste your time with Sozio because they won't fail to disappoint you. read more

After explaining at length to the salesperson that my apartment was on the fifth floor and being assured it was no problem and no extra fees applied, the delivery people showed up, were surly, and then announced they would not install the machine I had ordered and would not carry it up the stairs without extra charge. I called Chuck Sozio, the owner, got him on the phone and explained what had been told me. He said the salesperson should never have offered me the free delivery and refused to honor it. (Note that I had bought an entire suite of appliances from chuck two years before, a fact he acknowledged in refusing to back what his salesperson said.) Chuck hung up on me twice during our conversations and had his delivery people leave the premises without telling me he was giving up. Chuck and his people were both rude and unprofessional. BTW, they told me they could NOT install the machine in question -- that it was not possible. Within a week, AAA Appliance in JP installed the machine, did it promptly and politely, and at a cheaper price. Avoid Sozio at all costs. read more

great very nice folks, very helpfull and knowledgeable, great marked down prices, last year models, out of the box demos, limited color varieties, free shipping etc., i was going to buy at lowe's.... but decided for that one on one great helpfull service which all SOZIO people delivered with a smile,... ended up buying ALL my applliaces from SOZIO. and ended up with some high end electrolux for the price of cheaper appliance if i would have bought at home depot /lowes, ..... thanks much read more
