Spa At Thunder Valley - Review - Massage Near Me - Lincoln, California

I'm a little disappointed with the spa at thunder valley. With marketing and prices, I was anticipating a bit more higher-end offerings. I went to the spa for a day to celebrate my birthday. Checking in was pretty easy, though I did have to walk through the gross smoky casino, so pro-tip, use the valet at the hotel instead. We were shown to the waiting room and oriented. There's a small locker room, but you can only use them while you're in the spa, otherwise, you're expected to take your things with you. They have showers, steam room, and sauna to use included with service purchase. I chose to get the premiere massage which was a blend of hot rock, deep tissue, and relaxation massage, but I didn't get any hot rocks. My therapist was excellent and I'd return to her in a heartbeat. The massage beds are heated and they heat your robe before you leave the room. I spent a little time in the quiet room while my friend completed her service, then we headed to the pool. You get free entry into the pool with spa service. We spent the majority of the day there. There is a bar and they offer some food options at the pool. The servers were friendly but they seemed to be a little understaffed so we went to the bar for drinks. Nice lounges, cabana's with TV's available for an upcharge, large pool, and hot tub make for a nice place to spend the day. Overall, it was fine, not the luxury experience I'd wanted, and it doesn't meet other resort standards, but for our little Lincoln, and since it's pretty much the only resort/spa offered, I'm sure I'll be back soon. read more

Disappointing. Originally planned on coming here in a group of 5 for a birthday. Called, planned everything and finally picked a day where 3 of us could get a pedicure and 2 of us could get massages. It was difficult finding a day with 3 nail techs but we found one that worked. I made this reservation months in advance, and planned the whole rest of our day around this time we chose. A little under a month before our service I receive a call that they now only have 2 nail techs, and wanted one of us to go earlier/later (kind of defeats the purpose when we all wanted to go together). I finally figured it out to where two of us had to downgrade our 80 min pedicures, to 50 minutes for us to go and be able to be at the same time just two of us staggered. The day comes, we get told it's a $25 charge to remove nail polish - which nobody told me about when booking over the phone with them (tad absurd). I paid $105 for a 50 min pedicure. I figured since this is a spa and the price is so high, it would be great. At no fault of the ladies doing them (they were very friendly and nice), it was just exactly what I get for $35 at a regular nail salon. I was very disappointed. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the original 80 minute pedicure I wanted - they didn't care to get a new employee for the day. I'm also disappointed that it was beyond basic for $105. My family member who got the 80 min enjoyed hers, so that was the one positive since it was for her! Go to a regular place for a 1/3 of the price before coming here. read more

All i was interested in was a massage. I've had many massages in my time and this one was weak and a waste of money. The facility has plenty of amenities for a great experience, but I was not interested in the whole experience. I was impressed with the clean environment, sanitary and polished. The staff was professional and courteous, but the whole moment was over the top with enchantment. My chosen massage according to the menu was too much $$ for what I received. I do have other masseuse options that are much more effective and worth the $$$. I won't be back, not my style. read more

My mom and I went today to get a massage for the first time at this location. While the massages were amazing (thank you Laura and Cecilia!) and the spa itself was very relaxing.. I cannot say the same about the customer service at the front the desk. After paying for our massages and checking out, we were inquiring about scheduling a date to get head to toe services and right in the middle of looking up dates and times, the gentleman that was helping us completely dropped our conversation and started helping someone else without giving notice of any kind. He literally turned away from us and started helping someone else while we were waiting for feedback on availability. We were left high and dry and that interaction really left a sour taste in our mouth and put a damper on our overall experience. Overall, 5 stars for the massages and 0 stars for the front desk customer service. Updated: May 30, 2019 After posting my review, the manager of Thunder Valley Spa reached out to me by phone and apologized for our experience with customer service. I really appreciated him reaching out and addressing our concerns. This made me feel like they would stride to do better and I am confident they will. Super disappointed. My massage was booked 4 days in advance. My service was at 10:30 am arrival at 10. At 8:50 am morning of the massage they called me to tell me my service was cancelled. SPA Review- I spent the entire day at the spa only (no gambling, no hotel stay, no dining). 80 min delux hydra facial was amazing! So relaxing and reviving. My skin absolutely glows now! She took time to massage my face entirely, did a lip treatment and a cold spoon treatment around my eyes.. was awesome! Then had a Himalayan 50 min massage. The warm Himalayan salt rocks were a nice touch- very relaxing. Medium pressure, whole body.. Next up- 60 min Elite Pedicure...it was awesome! She did an amazing job massaging my legs, and took her time! My feet were in heaven! While there I also used the steam room amd dry sauna. The steam room was so steamy and smelt like eucalyptus...so dreamy and perfect! The meditation room and all amenities were clean and nice. Lockers, slippers, robes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors, etc etc. The entire property is adhering to all COVID precautions and protocols. Masks are required, social distancing, etc. What a wonderful spa retreat day all right here locally! read more

Just had a Spa Manicure which was fine-good result and the manicurist was very kind. However, if you put in print what to expect u should deliver. No "soothing heat pack" for my shoulders. And, no, "relaxing massage"--there is a huge difference between wiping some cream onto my arm versus actually massaging. So this is a mixed bag. Should be a $20-30 manicure for what I received. I got a Mani pedi, and was expecting an enhanced experience from what I would get it any other nail salon. Unfortunately, that was not the case. foot massage was short and nothing special for the price. Although they let you use the pool as part of your spa cost not everyone wants to go out to the pool. It would be nice if they added something like a longer foot massage, paraffin, wax treatment, etc to justify the cost difference. While I did enjoy the massage and the facilities were beautiful, I found it incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional that the employees at the front desk ask you OUT LOUD: "WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD 20% GRATUITY TO YOUR MASSAGE TODAY?" Ummmm, how is this discreet, professional, or spa-like behavior? Further, what happened to just adding the gratuity line to the bottom of my receipt with the percentages so I can choose what I'd like to tip without the pressure of being publicly shamed into 20%? What if I wanted to leave more/less? Also, they ask you that BEFORE telling you the total for your massage. While I may have been relaxed after, that lasted all of 2 minutes before I had figure out what 20% of $135 was in my head. For the record, it's $27. Love the spa at Thunder. Before COVID visited and service was great. Compared to other high end spa they could offer a lil more like beverages and snacks. Also on my recent visit the robe I was given had holes in it. This should never happen. My favorite therapist is MJ. He gives great massages. Took note that the white women were offered tea and beverage upon the end of their tour and no one minority in my party of 7 received the same service. The front desk staff, however is almost uniformly bad; generally surly, short and not at all welcoming. This is such a hidden gem - I never would have thought that I could have such amazing service and relaxation in a casino! My boyfriend bought me a facial and massage for my birthday and it was the best experience. I got a massage from Judit and it was amazing - 50 minutes of total relaxation and Judit was great at what she did. She even warmed my robe at the end of my massage which was such a nice touch. I got my facial from Yung and I have been going to her ever since for waxing services. She is so knowledgeable and friendly. I got the same deal for my mom - a massage and a facial - for mothers day this year and she was so blown away by the whole experience. While she was doing that, I got a pedicure since it was their deal of the month - $45 which was a lot more than I usually pay but it was worth it. I even got to go into the pool area since I paid the minimum of $45. The pool facility was awesome as well. read more

First of all...Just an ok pedicure for $75. It was something that should cost $45-55. My main issues was that I had never been to the spa before. They want you there 20-30mins early. I assumed it was for special COVID check in or maybe a tour since you do get to use their spa and pool the rest of the afternoon. Nope! Just waited in a seat for my nail tech. I sit down and was asked to pick a color. Pick a color like I've never seen before. A large tray sitting to my right filled with little painted rocks! Pick one of these, I say?? How many times do you think those have been handled? All these precautions... I couldn't even walk in the place like normal, I had to park and walk like a half mile away, asked to shower before coming in, wear a mask the entire time but then go ahead and rummage through and touch all those grimy little rocks??? WTF Turn off big time. Worst of all, I forgot to use my damn comp money. I was so exited to get this done after not being in any salon for 5 months, I was expecting a little more pampering for sure. Left pretty bummed. I heard massages are pretty good. Maybe I'll give that a try next time. read more

My experience today was nothing but GREATNESS. It was such an amazing experience that I might just make this a monthly routine. I honestly have a hard time relaxing and being comfortable. Sleep is the only form of relaxation and comfort to me. So this was a nice change. My reservation today was all because my cousin wanted to get me a spa treatment instead of cash . Mind you, that's what I asked for. Today I asked for a 50 minute facial and a 50 minute full body massage. When I arrived I was late, because I was given a courtesy call to arrive 15-30 mins prior to the appointment. There's a form you must fill out. Before you enter the meditation room. I was greeted kindly, gave my last name, filled out the form, and headed towards the ladies mediation room. I was given a robe and sandals to change into. Keep in mind you can go full blown naked or keep your undergarments on or change into a bathing suit. That's what I saw others do. They offer tea or water while you wait. There's a steam room and sauna room, as well as a shower for after your experience. They also have blow dryers for when you're done showering. My esthetician was prompt and ready for me at 12:30. Being me, I had a full on conversation with her, which I appreciated because I'm not used to these kinds of things. When you're done, she waited for me outside of my door and handed me a bottle of water: talk about service. I went to snack in our suite for about an hour until my next appointment. My full body massage was just as great. But this time I wasn't as talkative. Actually I didn't talk at all, only when I was supposed to respond. My massage was from light to medium pressure. For someone as inexperienced as me, it felt a lot harder than medium, but I didn't say anything because I really enjoyed it. I can see why people choose to shower after because my skin isn't used to the moisture. Weird huh? I just have extra dry skin ‍. Ahaha I'm weird. If I can recommend a spa, it would be here at thunder valley. Everyone was so nice, and attentive. It's really such a relaxing experience. read more

Spa at Thunder Valley is obviously the day spa located at the Thunder Valley Resort. This spa is open to the public and is an affordable upgrade for South Placer County residents looking for a typical resort experience. The facility is located off the main lobby of the hotel near the poker area. Parking in the garage is recommended. My experience was hampered by a busy concert day on a hot Saturday. Treatments include access to the hotel pool, so it is popular with concert attendees looking for a whole day of activity. Fortunately the men's side was nearly empty allowing me to enjoy a bit of naked time without too much interruption. The wet area has a steam room, dry sauna, rain shower, and complete locker facilities. I had the 50 minute special massage which included aromatherapy and a few hot stones. My therapist was great and very professional. She provided an experience consistent with a high end hotel spa light years away from the busy casino literally a few feet away. They provide a wide variety of treatments including a full salon. On quieter days, the Spa at Thunder Valley provides a nice spa experience. You can prepay your treatment to make pool access easier, but you can still pay afterwards. Prices are higher than local places with fewer amenities, but they provide discounts and comps for players and have pool access included. read more

This spa has a really wonderful facility with a dry sauna and a steam room. Their robes are very comfy and they have all necessary amenities to get real hair makeup etc after your massage. I typically get a deep tissue massage which is $100 for an hour. I've also gotten the body scrubs and they have always been great. I've been to a lot of spas and this one lives up to the hype. It is nice and big and clean, has a steam room and a dry sauna. All the amenities you would expect of a spa are there. I had an 80 minute deep tissue massage with MJ and it was great. Don't forget to bring your players card or go get one then you get 5% off which is small but nice. What have I been missing all my life. I fell upon this place by mistake. Who would've thought at the casino this place would be here they have a full dry sauna and wet sauna. Jet showers lockers vanities everywhere. A quiet room where as women can chill. Complementary robes and slippers as many towels as you can desire. Although I didn't get any facials or massages I just use them facility for the steam rooms and relaxation. And guess what I'll be doing that all the time now probably twice a week. The Most awesome thing about it all is that if I choose not to stay in the hotel all I have to pay for the spa is $32 for the whole day pass. But if I stay at the hotel my spa time is complementary. I just can't get over the experience in all the people I met all the contacts and business cards.... We all sat shared talked, laughed joked...but it was an awesome experience read more

Thank you For making it right. I have been debating on writing a review but after much thought I decided to write. First, I have used the mani/pedi services before and was always satisfied. I don't like to give a poor rating for one instance but it was such a disappointment I feel the need to share. I went for a pedi on Sunday and was looking forward to the treatment. The mani/pedi area is very relaxing with candles, dim lights-a very zen feeling. My attendant was very calm and did not engage in conversation which is perfect when you want to relax. My issue came that during the entire service the front desk attendants were so loud not only with their conversation but loud laughter. I have no issues with the employees having fun as it seemed like a quiet day but the noise echoed right into the service area and totally wiped out all the relaxing and zen atmosphere. The employees should be trained to speak softly when guests are getting services. Maybe a door between the waiting area and the treatment area would help. The echos were very loud and I was disappointed that it interfered with my relaxation. The other issue is I ordered a 50 minute pedi and it only lasted 40 minutes? Very disappointed for the price. read more

Last year I went to this spa and had the worst experience! My massage therapist was horrible and her massage techniques were downright painful! When I informed the spa manager, they made it right and gave me 50% off my services. Yesterday, for my birthday celebrations, my friends and I came again to this spa. I have to admit, I do love the amenities but since they went up in price 3 weeks ago, I just don't know if it'll be worth it to come back next year. I usually get the winning pair, which is a 50 min massage and a 50 minute facial; the price a few years ago was around $145. The price in April (when I booked my appointment) was around $159. However, yesterday after my services, they attempted to charge me $200. Of course I made them honor the price they quoted me in April, but as I stated before, not sure if these services are worth $200. The Spa at Thunder Valley, what were you thinking? This price hike is ridiculous? Maybe some of your therapist are deserving of these prices but others seem like they just got their massage certificates days ago, so you definitely shouldn't be charging these kinds of prices! This casino is making millions of dollars on a weekly basis, do you really need more? As said before, the amenities are great, but do I really want to spend $200 bucks for amenities and subpar work? Eucalyptus infused steam room, sauna, rainfall shower, meditation room, complimentary snacks and beverages, cozy robes to wear, personal locker, pool access... all this and more make the spa a fantastic oasis in an otherwise barren patch of land (besides the casino of course) off Hwy 65. Check out their monthly specials for genuine, reasonable royal treatments. My friend and I tried the August special- a Moroccan oil body scrub followed by body soufflé. It sounds so simple yet was completely decadent. Hot towels complimented the scrub along with a very light massage with soufflé application. Treatment rooms have a clean shower in each, a huge plus so you don't do the walk of shame down the hall like at some spas. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful from the moment I made the appointment to paying for my treatment. Sarah gave us a great preliminary tour of the well kept facilities. MJ was an awesome massage therapist and made me feel comfortably pampered. The front desk ladies answered all our questions with a smile and showed us their products they sell. Oxygen never felt so good -- or made someone look so fabulous. An hour long Balance facial, for $50 (half off their normal price) came complete with many layers of peels, masks, toners, hot towels in between, direct oxygen sprayed over the face and of course massage of neck and hands. She didn't massage my head, but I think it was because my hair was a tangled mess. Oh well, maybe next time. Before you even step foot into the facial room, though, you are given a tour of the facilities and then left on your own to play -- which is why you should come at least 30 minutes early. They have a steam room, a meditation room, a rain therapy shower and regular showers. All of this plus the huge vanity area with toiletries and a locker room to hold your stuff and change into bathrobe and slippers make this experience something you will never forget. To give you an idea of the caliber we're talking here, they have a facial that's $405. Apparently, you come out looking and feeling like a baybay. What a perfect day to end my busy week. I came in for a pedicure treatment despite reading the previous reviews. The experience was a bit rushed, but the nail technician still performed a thorough job. I took advantage of using their spa amenities and felt so relaxed.The pool view was amazing!!! All the staff were well trained and friendly. Since my pedicure treatment, I have also returned for facial and body treatments. The facial was great, but the mud wrap for me will take some getting used to. It didn't feel as relaxing as I imagined it. The clay/mud was too hot that it burned my skin upon application... and there was the treatment interruption of having to showering the mud off, toweling off, changing in and out, etc. Overall, I will definitely return to the Spa at Thunder Valley for their exceptional customer service and wonderful spa amenities. This is two reviews in one for my massage and for facial I had on May 27th for a early bday gift from my hubby and BFF My massage is 5 stars out of 5 My facial is 1 star of of 5 Overall the spa is small but does have a steam room, sauna and fancy multi head shower. It is very clean and the attendants are helpful. The day we were there it felt crowded at one point while waiting for services and there was not enough seats in the lounge for everyone waiting as a larger party of ladies had come in. I started with my 50 min massage by MJ. My massage was fabulous!! I was so relaxed. She used the right amount of pressure. Also I am not one who likes to chat during my massage and really appreciate when the therapist is respectful of that and doesn't true to push conversation on me. MJ is wonderful and I will go back just to have a massage from her!! Then I headed into my facial where the Thearpist started by insulting my eyebrows saying they are too thick and that I should let her wax me. Ummm noooo I just waxed them and like them this way. We were not off on a good foot and the insults continued until I think she realized I was annoyed. Then it was on to trying to upsell me on services and products - No thank you! She talked the entire time (50 mins) and all my relaxation from my wonderful massage by MJ went to the way side. I mentioned my experience as I was paying at the front desk but received some half shrugs - I probably should have pushed it. Especially since when i went upstairs and my hubby and friends reactions were what happened to me. When I looked in mirror I realized I was red (no extractions) and super shiny (like see your reflection shiny). I had to completely wash off the oils and stuff she put on my face to be able to head out for dinner. Facial was complete waste of money!! So in summary - go see MJ for a massage and do not go here for a facial! If not for horrible experience during the facial this place would be a 5 out of 5! read more
