Got a groupon deal for a Couple's Massage on groupon for $64 because groupon had a $10 off promo going on as well but still had to tip so its kind of the same thing. Got there 30 minutes early on a thursday, the girl up front was new (she stated it was her first day) she asked how we were gona pay i told her i got a groupon and she didnt know what to do with it. And she asked me what she should do and i told her maybe you should click "redeem voucher" and maybe write down the info so you dont get in trouble. Then she proceeded to tell me that i shouldve have gotten the groupon deal? Because they dont make money. And i looked at her and said "Maybe you guys shouldnt promote your businesss on groupon if you guys supposedly "dont make money". " Then she took us in to a small but ok couples massage room. There was no "Consultation" as advertised on groupon they didnt ask us if we had pain anywhere or if we had a choice on what oil or lotion they used...they just lather you up and theres no explanation on how everything goes. My partner and i had two asian women who were ok, except the woman massaging me kept YAWNING as in maybe 6 or 7 big yawns and i just kept thinking to myself, mann i should get up and massage her since shes tired.. Anyways, be prepared to be sore afterwards if you dont mention to not be soo rough...i swear my lower spine is really sore and i visibly see brusing..maybe cause she had skinny fingers that were digging for gold. Unfortunately, spa city (and other places) have a loud doorbell that goes off every time it opens that makes it difficult to relax. Ouch, I literally paid to get my body beaten, which could have been done free of charge. We purchased a deal on groupon for a couples full body massage. When we entered the facility, the receptionist asked for our name, she found our reservation and asked for us to pay first. I have never paid for a service before receiving it, but that's besides the point. We were taken into a room and told to undress. We got onto the beds, soon after our masseuse came in. My masseuse started massaging me without checking to see what type of pressure I wanted. OH MY GOSH!!! She started on my spine, putting extreme pressure, which was so painful. She proceeded to the rest of my back, I was tensing up because of the pain. It was the worst massage that I've ever had. What makes it worse, is that it seemed like she didn't even use a lot of oil so her hands and elbows were not moving with ease. Both masseuse walked out at the same time, without letting us know where they were going. We looked at the clock and I could not believe that I had 30 minutes left, I just wanted it to be over. The masseuse came back with rocks and a towel. She rub the rocks on my back, then turned me over to massage the rest of my body. When it was time for my legs, she pulled on them and punched them with force. This place was horrible and I will never ever return. I saw the grand opening sign and thought I'll go check it out. Walked in and an Asian lady donning lady-gaga-blonde hair greeted me behind the counter and immediately asked if I'm looking to get massages. I took a business card but it has no information on the price points so I asked the lady politely if I could take a photo with my camera just the prices on the wall. OK, I understand an entrepreneur's natural protectiveness towards its business but your price points with 5 services you offer is not considered Top Secret information. Found Spa City via Groupon, but called Spa City to make a reservation before booking it. DO IT. They honor the Groupon price! Came by on a weekday with a girlfriend and we did the couple's massage. SO good. It basically came out to $40 per person after tip, for a one hour massage. The lady I spoke with on the phone to book was super professional and very friendly. I don't think I saw her when I went in in person later that week. Bummer. The receptionist at the front doesn't have much customer service appeal...she didn't look us in the eye and wanted us to pay up front which I never like. I mean, massage is a service...that felt kind of off. Our two masseuses were two smiley Asian gals, and they massaged quietly for our couples massage. The room was probably my favorite part--not that there was anything special about it. It was dim and barely enough space to put our bags. The beds were warm and toasty for us to lie in with panties on. They seemed to use very oily massage rub and also included hot stones which was a fun plus! Time for the actual massage. The lady I had had pretty bony hands. That part I didn't like...but she did do her best to get almost ever part of my body. They spent a lot of time on the backside of the body specifically the low back, when I would have preferred more on the upper traps and butt. I tried giving her a suggestion in the middle of the massage and said something in the beginning, only to be met with silence. It was strange. It was great having my friend at the table next to me, so I felt less awkward. I think her strokes were a bit too abrupt and if she slowed down the deep tissue work would have been much more therapeutic. I felt like she was rushing through to finish the entire hour. Parking was accessible. They have a private shared parking with all of the other stores (like Starbucks) in the plaza, so I felt very safe having my car there. So I decided to buy another couples massage through Groupon again. I booked the massage through the Groupon website, like I did the first time. Let me preface this review by saying that it was my first Asian massage experience. I will not be a returning guest. I purchased a Groupon couples massage to try this place out. We finished errands earlier than expected so arrived 30 minutes early to our appointment. Not a single smile from the receptionist. Also a thick accent which made it difficult to communicate. I saw refreshments but it was not offered. She promptly redeemed the Groupon and led us down the hall. We relied on some universal sign language to determine that we were to get undressed and wait under the bedsheets for our masseuse. I had Husband promptly confirm that the black dust bunny on the floor was not a spider. At least there was relaxing music. Our masseuses entered and didn't introduce themselves or ask if we had any limitations/preferences for the massage. Guess it was my bad to assume such communication from a "spa." My massage started too firm/painful. So I made it known then, and again a few minutes later. She had to clarify my requests with her coworker in Mandarin, and proceeded to make a few comments here and there in Mandarin. The strokes were too choppy for my preference. My masseuse then left the room without saying anything so I thought the massage was over. She returned with a hot towel and thankfully asked me to ensure the towel wasn't too hot. All of the massage oil was wiped away and I'd equate that towel to wiping sandpaper against your entire body. -_-! Not relaxing. Then some firm hair tugging, aggressive scalp rubbing, and yet again too-firm neck massage. The end. My masseuse was waiting for us in the hall with cups of water. We checked out with the same unhappy receptionist who asked how our massages were, and didn't follow up when I replied so-so. She promptly asked how much tip we wanted to leave. Unfortunately this was a waste of money even though I purchased this through Groupon. When I told the lady at the front desk that I had a Groupon, she got really short and rude from there on. The receptionist roomed me at 4pm and said my masseuse would be in at 4:05... she didn't come in until 4:11, so I just laid there on the table wondering if they forgot about me. The facilities were a little dirty- stained carpets- please see photos attached. The massage bed squeaked every time the masseuse used pressure (so every 3 seconds)- it was hard to relax during this massage due to the squeaky noise throughout the entire massage. I didn't really relax during the massage due to the squeaky noise and lack of relaxing environment. The masseuse was fine, but not the best. I did get cold since the beds aren't heated and the room wasn't super warm. I still tipped the masseuse $15 although I'm not sure she deserved it. I had read the other reviews of people saying they pressure you for tips- I didn't want to be pressured so I came prepared, but won't return since I felt pressured to tip in the first place, and tipped too much on a mediocre massage. TL;DR: Terrible massage. unfriendly, rude, and entitled staff. Literally any other place that I've gotten massages before was significantly better. The long version: Had a terrible experience at this place. The front desk lady who also answers the phone is really unclear, and also very unfriendly, and behaved like someone who hates her job, and people. I'm a bodybuilder, and get massages regularly. So I know exactly what I want, and I can differentiate between a great massage, a good one, and a bad one. My experience here was definitely the bad one. I've been getting massages at Asian places before, and yes, while their English could be a little hard to understand, they still made sure to communicate effectively with me, and make sure all of my needs are met. But here, my massage therapist did not do anything in terms of communication as if she's just working on a dead object, and not an alive human being. Also she did not even understand me when I asked her to work on specific muscles. I was getting a deep tissue FULL BODY massage and she spent 45 minutes out of my hour on my upper and lower back, and a little on arms and neck. Had I not told her that I'm here mostly because my legs are sore, she would have ignored my legs completely. After I finally told her to work on my legs, she worked on my glutes, and hamstrings and calves for a little, and to my surprise went back to my upper body again which she already spent 80% of her time on. So I tell her again that she still hasn't touched my quads yet while I have less than 10 minutes left of my time. She does not know where "quads" are, so after I point her out to where I'm talking about, she works on my quad for the little time we have left. Let me also point out that she was really weak, therefore she had to use her elbows the whole time to get the same effect on my muscles as a stronger massage therapist, and because of that 3 days after the massage my muscles still hurt, and I cannot lift as much as I want to. But here comes the worst part of my experience. I'm a very generous tipper, and I usually tip 20 to even 25% when I get a really good service. This time I'm completely dissatisfied with my massage, but on my way out I still offer her a 15% tip which was really high considering how bad her service was. But she rudely gives me back my tip and start complaining that I should tip her more because she gave me a deep tissue even though that was barely considered Deep Tissue in my opinion. Don't go to this place. You can literally go to any other massage therapist completely randomly with no prior research, and chances are it'll still be significantly better than this place! read more

We used to be members and membership is not recognized anymore (including associated preferred prices). A voucher for compensating this, turns out to apply to additional items we don't care for, not to a regular massage. 2. We happened to come across a Groupon for Spa City. When trying to use it, a new rule pops up: appointments for Groupons need to be booked a day or more in advance (despite spaces were available the same day). Really? Why? 3. Apparently there is some fine print that you can use only one Groupon a quarter ... but since they have trouble keeping this kind of simple paperwork straight, they incorrectly claimed the Groupon has been used already and denied it all together. If Spa City raises prices, that is their right and would not trigger a complaint. But coming up with a different story every time why you can't provide service does. Not a reputable establishment at all!! I booked my 90 min massage over the phone and because I had a discount card they quoted me $60. I showed up and the women said with slight hesitation it would be $100. I said no, you said $60 on the phone. Then she said oh yeah, you're the one who called. Okayyy, $40 knocked off just like that... so FYI, they'll gouge you if they can get away with it. My massage was okay but my masseuse belched all the way through my treatment, which I'm sure she knew was rude and hardly conducive of relaxation but I elected not to say anything, but seriously, wtf? I went to leave, had no cash and asked to add more tip to my credit slip when I left, which I had already tipped very modestly but as is my custom, based on service I'll add what I see fit after services are rendered! I chose to leave 10% and was swiftly and mercilessly harassed by my masseuse and the desk clerk who insisted I leave 20% which according to them, was standard. Little do these ladies know that I don't believe in tipping. I believe in over tipping, however not in this case. My massage was just OKAY, and the fact I had to endure the digestive abilities of my masseuse while I was trying to relax just didn't thrill me. I elected to leave 10% and I already paid a decent price for the massage! These women threw a fit because I stood my ground and left 10%. With the way I was treated today, they deserved absolutely nothing!! If you want more money, charge more for your massages and be up front with your clients. Don't harass them and chase them out the door. Another thing, when I asked my masseuse for her name, her reply was "no, I'm only temporary here." Sigh. Shouldn't be surprised, Groupon for a couples massage. When we walked in, before we opened the glass door to enter, the woman behind the counter was working something out of her nose (this becomes important in a moment). We get to the counter, she asks for our names for the redo and asks how we'll pay and I mention I have a groupon and turn my phone to show her - she asks me to hand over my phone so she can better scan the groupon (rewind to nose picking from earlier ). The massage was okay, I've definitely had better, never had worse, but it's pretty hard to screw up a massage. Pressure wasn't really there, they didn't really ask if we wanted them to focus on any particular spot nor did they ask how much pressure we wanted. The oils were unscented - not a big deal, but takes away from the increased relaxation. They also talked a little too much (to each other) for us to really get to zen. When we finished up and walked outside, they offered us water and kinda just stared at us (waiting for a tip) which was super awkward - we don't typically carry cash, so were planning on tipping at the counter with a card. Had to have that conversation with them. Then when we were tipping at the counter, they were there staring as we tipped - my suspicion is that they didn't trust the receptionist to cash them out correctly - but still super awkward. We booked a couples massage here after finding a deal on Groupon. They started off the experience by texting us the wrong date and time for our appointment, which was more challenging than it should have been to correct. The receptionist was very confused when we tried to explain the situation, but eventually caught on. That fiasco over, the next day we arrive for our massage. The receptionist was INSISTENT that we cancel our Groupon and they would honor the price for us in store as well as add on free hot stones. I've had this happen at other places (hair dressers, other massage places, you get the point) so I didn't think much of it. It was a solid 15 minute process to get the Groupon refunded. While my boyfriend was dealing with the Groupon situation, I noticed a very steady stream of middle aged men leaving the back, heads down, looking ashamed. It was... very interesting, and I'm sure you can guess where my mind was going. There were more clues to indicate what kind of a place this was, but I'll leave that to the imagination. Long story short, it is overly generous to describe the treatment I received as a "massage." It felt more like the woman massaging me was actively trying to give the worst massage she could, going way too quickly and focusing on really weird spots. The best way I can describe it is that I felt like I was a ball of dough the she was angry about being forced to knead. I was very relieved when the massage was over. To top it off, as another reviewer has mentioned, my therapist seems to be in serious need of a dietary change because she burped the entire massage. I honestly thought I was about to be vomited on. We came here on our neighbors recommendation and it's good. They used to frequent Happy Feet, Foot Massage inCupertino weekly on Sunday but found this establishment closer to our home. Know it is basically a nicer foot massage place. They give a great full body massage, no frills but good, intense massage for $70 as a couples massage. Do all employees have a good command of the English language? Absolutely not, but I'm not paying them for conversation;) All the therapists are super sweet and If you don't know how to indicate the pressure is too firm or too soft, i.e. you want someone to "intuit" it from your tensing up...this is NOT the place for you. I have no problem indicating I want softer or firmer massage, using gestures or language, but many people are uncomfortable stating their needs. They start out warming you up, massaging you through the top sheet. Once you are warmed up, then they use oil on targeted areas of back, neck, arms, legs and feet. Then the head massage, then flip for more face and head massage and some good arm and leg quick massage. The best $35 + $20 tip we've spent on massages! We've been to many a spa and massage in our lives, and this ranks up there in quality. I wouldn't suggest for a first time massage goer, nor for someone who wants the swankiness of a spa. They treat you well, no fuss, and Anna and Susan have a very firm touch...just what this programmer's back and cyclist's legs need! read more

This is the best massage I've ever had. My girlfriend and I always get each other massages for one another's birthdays. We usually just find a place on Groupon and go from there. My girlfriend found this spa on Groupon and we scheduled it. It happened to be the week before my wedding. My other girlfriend was interested in coming as well. I though this was really cool of them considering they could have charged full price and we would have gone. The girl I had was Daisy. Ask for her. The scalp massage is to die for. I feel that generally this portion of any massage can be over looked or weak- not this one. This had the best pressure and she really was able to put pressure where it was supposed to be. I had a migraine for several days leading up to this massage due to wedding pressure, and I left without a migraine. First time I had actually felt relaxed in weeks. The other girls also said that this was the best massage that they had ever had. You honestly cant beat the price. Even if you are paying full price I think it's about $60-$80 for a normal massage which is almost unheard of these days. I am going to be looking into purchasing a membership in the next few weeks because I think the massages come out to $40 per. Not sure what the details are for a monthly payment for the membership, but I have definitely made up my mind about where I will continue my massages. You should: -shower and shave before hand. It's polite and I think it feels better to have soft clean skin -wear nicer panties (ladies). They do require you to keep them on and it would be a shame if you're wearing your period parties for this. -not plan on going anywhere special after. They will put oils in your hair when giving the facial and scalp massage. -bring cash for tip. I always tip $20 or more depending on the service. It is a nice thing to do and they appreciate it. They are working hard to ensure your comfort (they are also rubbing your naked, possibly dirty and unshaved body for minimum wage ... think about it) You should not: -expect them to touch your junk. I say this will all seriousness. While I was waiting for my masseuse, the receptionist received a phone call from a man asking about "happy endings" and it made the receptionist very uncomfortable and upset. This is a professional place and should be treated with respect. If you're looking for that behavior, look elsewhere. I highly recommend this location for a massage. This review is for the front desk girl. Bought a groupon for my mom to have a 60mins message. The lady pretty much got upset why I didn't tell her I got it on Groupon over the phone. Just a little thing about business it is your responsibility to ask over the phone if I have a giftcard or Groupon. I am the customer and don't need to get yelled at in whatever language you were speaking. So she finally dragged my mom in the back. Wishing her luck. read more

Ana and Vivienne (I'm probably not spelling her name correctly) gave us great massages. We had a Groupon couples massage, and basically everything negative that was said in other reviews, did not happen. The receptionist was polite, quick, and did not say anything about our Groupon. The rooms are clean and well ventilated. There was relaxing music playing in the background, and the masseuses were completely focused on us (not talking to one another.) Also, most of the clients I saw were women. Not to say there are no men, but I did not see any, "older shame filled looking men leaving. " I was not looking forward to my message after reading all the negative reviews on here. Hey, maybe we got lucky? Really good experience. Appointment was on time. Did a couples massage. My girlfriend had a male that was soft and I had a female that was rough which was what we wanted. About 2/3 of time was spent on back and 1/3 on legs. Feels great as we both had a lot of knots. read more
