The menu has so many incredible, gourmet choices, it will be hard to select just one, but our table ordered the octopus tacos and cherry blossom beets with chopped peanuts and triangles of puffy, fried flat bread. Interesting combinations of flavors, and a great starter. Several of us got the salmon wellington - wow! Cooked to sheer perfection, moist fish on a bed of bok choy and chopped mushrooms, bathed in an orange beurre blanc with a delicious wellington crust. I MUST order that again! One person had pan seared halibut, and he inhaled it before I even got to look closely at the preparation. He said it was amazing! No desserts, as we were all stuffed, but the rojo wine and martinis went down a treat! Service was lovely, table cloths, candles and cloth napkins....all in all, a truly special evening with five new friends! The interior of the restaurant is beautifully designed yet simple and the waitstaff were very friendly. We ordered the octopus bites for an appetizer and they were delicious. We also ordered the sourdough bread which is made there on site...again, delicious especially with the French butter. Our main courses were also very tasty and the timing between courses was impeccable. We will absolutely be eating here again as we want to try their fixed menu. Plenty of parking as well. We were very excited to try new menu items and the famous gimlet. Service was great, our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food and drinks were good, our favorite avocado tacos did not disappoint! What made our experience go from good to bad quickly was what seemed to be the chef coming to our table reeking of cigarettes and alcohol and proceeding to hover over us for what felt like an inappropriately long time. Our server looked embarrassed as if this is a reoccurring event. Although I appreciate the chef coming to check on us it was a bit uncomfortable. We will be returning to one of our favorite date spots, however we hope next time we will have a better experience.

The pork belly and short ribs gave the meal some richer, heavier flavors, while the mussels helped round things out. The only downside this time was the service. Normally service here is good, but our waiter was really slow during this visit. It was also louder than usual, possibly because of a party or larger group nearby. That is not usually our experience here, so I'd treat it more as an off night than a reason not to return. Still a good spot, and we'll go back.

When we pointed it out, Bobby just said, "Oh, okay," and never corrected the drink or offered a solution. The only bright spot was the bartender, who was friendly and offered him a taste of the 1924; that was the only moment of good service all night. Really disappointing experience, especially for a birthday celebration. 1 star only because of the bartender.

I knew it had been smoked because the bartender presented it with a plastic smoking device over the glass. It was also missing the classic Luxardo or maraschino cherry garnish, and without any garnish at all, it felt like it was missing that final finishing touch. An added bonus is that it's within walking distance of Maryland Hall, making it a perfect stop before or after a show. ServiceFriendly staff and impressively fast service.
