Been seeing Yumiko for close to 10 yrs now. She's the best and true to her craft. We met her thru a referral named Oreo who we ran into while shopping - he was a good lookin Shih Tzu so I had to ask who's your groomer. and just learned he's also still with Yumiko and recently turned 15; that shows the level of loyalty backed by quality service that Yumiko provides

Do not take your dog here for handstripping.

This post is long overdue. And now that I just left a stellar review for Canine Showcase, it reminded me to leave one for this place. Sadly, you cannot leave 0 stars. Do not bring your dog here for handstripping. Even though Yumiko says she can. SHE CANNOT. I brought in my Norwich Terrier for a handstripping and she came out looking like a beat up Westie. It was so insane. I paid in advance because someone else was picking her up. I wish I hadn't because if I would have picked her up myself, I would have taken her and walked out. She would have had to call the police. My poor dog was so sheepish and so tender to the touch - she even had major bald spots. It was awful. I asked for a refund and she refused. Finally she said she would give me half back (it was $140). And when she did, she still said, it was not her fault - that she was not taking responsibility for it. I don't even know how that works in her mind but whatever. I'm sure Yumiko is fine and capable with clippers, but do not trust her to handstrip your wirey-haired dog. I will attach a few photos. Her leg hairs are long, her back is thin and short, and you will see her bald spots. Google a Norwich and you will see how crazy this handstripping was.

Indy, our Coton de Tulear, after a bath by Yumiko
    Crystal C.

I have a Coton de Tulear, which is a fluffy long-haired white dog that is pretty difficult to groom. We like to keep his hair on the longer side, which makes it even harder to maintain. I once read a comment on some random website where a groomer said they refused to work with Cotons because their hair "mats from just sitting there", or something like that. Yumiko came highly recommended to me by the breeder from whom we adopted our dog, Indy. Many of Indy's siblings and cousins use Yumiko's grooming services as well. When she grooms Indy, his hair is ultrasoft and stays silky for a long time. I wish I could learn her secret! Whenever my I bathe and condition him, his hair feels coarser afterwards and it doesn't take long for mats to start developing again. Indy does this "smiling" thing where he shows all his teeth, which he only does when he sees people he really likes. Yumiko is one of these people. :)

My shiba going in for his monthly bath & brushout
    Bekki L.

I've been bringing my shiba here for monthly bath/brush out and the occasional boarding since 2003. Unlike chain stores, the groomers here are experienced with grooming show dogs and acknowledge shibas are "weird" about getting wet or having their paws touched, and may scream bloody murder (though mine's mute). While the ownership has changed, the grooming staff has remained the same and I can't say enough good things about Tina and Justin. I also appreciate the owner Janet's flexibility in fitting us in at short notices. Anyhow, the main reason I love them is they care enough to give me feedback out of concern for my fur kid's health. For instance, there was a while when I had my fur kid on Advantage monthly, and he started to bald/thin around his shoulder blades. Tina noticed the change and suggested I might want to consult w/ the vet. Another time I was trying to get the fur kid to loose weight and went overboard, they gently suggested he was on the thin side. They respect my input to either shave my shiba's pads or leave them alone depending on seasonality, and do a good job with his nails. Other than the place occasionally smelling more like cats than I'd like (I suspect allergies or sensitivity on my part), and I can't fault them for hosting rescue cats who need forever homes, I'm really surprised by the one-star review.

I loved this place about 2 years. And today was the second time terrible haircut for my westie. His hair look like they are patterned. I'm very disappointed! I will no longer give my dog there

Bald and bloody. What did you do to my dog
    Serena S.

I was really excited about being a regular costumer here based off it being close to my house. I brought my dog here for the first time for a hair cut. I told the guy exactly what I wanted. A short cut with a top notch. He tried to talk me out of it. I wasn't sure why. I came a few hours later to pick up my dog and everything looked good. The person who cut her hair said everything went well and my dog did great. Later when I went home I noticed an inch and a half cut on her tail. It was completely bald and bloody. It looked as if someone had dropped the clippers on her. The rest of her fur was about a third of an inch so it was weird that there was a bald spot that big. I called to complain and the lady that cut her hair tried to explain to me that sometimes the skin tears when they brush out knots. But then why was it completely bald? If they brushed it out why was the hair missing? If they had told me when I picked her up that they accidentally cut her it would be a different story. But the fact that they tried to cover it up... I'm livid. I do not recommend this place. I took pictures of her tail as proof to post on here. Hopefully it will let me.

    Love my dog's hair!

they do a good job but as always it depends on the specific groomer. I live closeby so it's easy and they do a fine job.

Our rabbit is very important to us so I set out to find the best possible pet sitter in the area for peace of mind, that was when I stumbled upon Furry Friends Pet sitting. We boarded our beloved senior rabbit (who is a very sassy bun) for 11 days as we had to leave for an overseas trip. Barbara is very great at communication from the first contact all throughout the duration of rabbit boarding. Questions are specific as in which veggies are most preferred, hay preference, vaccine and vet information. They also provided an enclosure with toys and hidey spots so all we had to do was drop our bun off in a carrier. She would send daily videos and photos along with detailed updates (like how she would lounge all day and snack on her hay and list the veggies she was fed). Barbara shows a lot of experience as she has a variety of veggies as well as regularly cleaning out the water bowl and tidying the enclosure. She would also spend time petting and changing up the toys and tunnels as well. Receiving texts on our bun was something I looked forward to during our trip as I would see how relaxed and comfortable she was! If you are looking for an experienced rabbit sitter in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to inquire here! Thank you so much for watching our bun! Photos below are from Barbara's daily updates.

The first year with my golden retriever, Luka, was extremely hard. He was a mouthy dog who had zero boundaries at home or outside. He would get excited or frustrated and grab/bite onto my shoes or clothes daily. Walking him became an impossible task because he was extremely dog-reactive, and he dragged me a couple of times while trying to chase another dog. Walking him also became a two-person job, with someone always on the lookout for other dogs so we could turn the other way. He also began to resource guard and snapped at my dad twice.. I had already spent thousands on another trainer and didn't have much success. I began to feel like this was just what life with Luka would be like forever. It got to the point where I felt scared of him, and the life I was giving him out of that fear wasn't fair to him. So I decided to try and get help one last time. I found Lori's page and after reading the reviews I became hopeful again. I took Luka in for an evaluation, and Lori recommended their board-and-train program. I can't thank Chelsea and Lori enough for everything they've done. I've learned so much about Luka, how to manage different situations, and how to better understand his behavior. We had training lessons throughout his board-and-train stay and afterward, because we are the ones who need most of the training! Chelsea did an amazing job with Luka. At home, Luka is unrecognizable in the best way. We can actually go on adventures outside without being terrified that we won't be able to handle him. Those who knew Luka before his stay and see him now always comment on how well he is doing. I cannot recommend Lori Hamilton's Dog training enough to anyone who feels like they've tried everything and is feeling discouraged. I am so thankful because it finally feels like Luka and I can start living life and enjoying everything around us.
