I emailed asking if they had any availability and they called me within the hour and had us set up for the next day. They did let me know after our appointment today they get busy around the holidays so call well ahead of time. The store is super cute and suits its name, very well decorated and clean. This place was recommended by a coworker last year and we have been bringing our dog, Youji, every month and a half or so, probably a total of 6 times. She is an extremely anxious dog and although she would yank and pull to leave at the front of the store, once behind the gate she would seem to calm down. The main front desk guy (whose name I forget, but will always remember the pokemon button-downs) is always kind and helpful. If you ever bring up a concern he will be open, communicative, and do anything to help you feel at ease which helped an anxious lady like me feel better about leaving her anxious dog. I've only met one or two of the grooming staff and they seem to be kind as well. At one point my dog had her toenail clipped a little too short (my pup is incredibly jumpy with her paws and they are black so I was not surprised) so it had bled and the staff who groomed my dog came out to apologize. I appreciated how upfront they were about it since it does happen and that they patched it up with no problem. I would continue to come to this office but we are moving to another state, however, I do recommend this place to my friends in the bay still! You can tell they care about the animals to the point I've seen the staff greet some animals by name when they come in without checking the computer. They are also great about moving appointments as needed or informing if their store is down, for example, due to a power outage. Wish I could give more stars. read more

It was my puppy's first ever grooming session, so I was very concerned about how it would go (he's a very hyper 6month old golden doodle) but the reviews + location (they are open for indoor grooming) made me give them a try. The groomer, Dovile, was very affirming, and listened to my requests diligently. My pupppy seemed very comfortable around her during our chat so I was relieved, and felt ok leaving him there for the almost 3 hour session. I am very pleased with the overall service. The establishment is very clean and not crowded. (I would say that the loud bell that rings when you open their main door bothered me a lil, so I bet it bothers the dogs too) Other than that, it's a good location + ample parking space in the lot. We took our 8 month old golden doodle to the Dog Pawlor for his first cut because it is super close to our house. Their communication over the phone was amazing, super easy to set the appointment, very friendly. Their service was also great, they recognized my wife when she came in. They did a great job handling him as well (he's not exactly calm), and laughed off his peeing on the floor as him signing the guest book (still laughing about that). Puppy was ready right in the window they estimated as well. They did a great job with the bath and brushing, he looks like a movie star. I think we need to be more specific next time about what we want as some of his cut was perfect, while other areas just weren't quite as short as we'd like. That being said, overall a really good experience, and we absolutely plan to go back the next time and better communicate what we're looking for. read more

The Dog Pawlor is Clean, Comfortable, and surprisingly quiet for a groomers office. Upon entering they never make me wait any longer than 2 minutes, they accept photos of haircuts, and they actually cut your dogs hair like the photos. I've brought our dog Splash who is a Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix "Cockapoo" to the Dog Pawlor 4 times now and while everyone is amazing, Stephanie is outright awesome with her care of Splash. His haircuts are always excellent and I've never seen any nicks or cuts on him which lets me she and the Dog Pawlor team take great care of Splash. He is nervous when we drop him off here but from experience with attempting to groom him on my own it's definitely due to the loud noises from the blow dryer and not due to the handling of the groomers. Everyone else's dog I see coming to this place are always wagging their tail and playing with the groomers so again it's just Splash being Splash lol. I pay $100 before tip to have a nail trimming, grinding, ear cleaning, brush out, bathing, drying and full haircut. This is worth it considering we bring him every 3-4 months. Have been a regular customer of the Dog pawlor ever since we got our puppy Mars but a recent horrendous grooming experience has left both our dog and us traumatized. This is the first time we tried a new groomer at the dog pawlor and the moment she saw him she mentioned she would be shaving him down completely since he was heavily matted. He was indeed badly matted along his neck but wasn't that bad everywhere else. Nevertheless, I took the groomers advice to shave him down blissfully unaware of the hell that was about to break loose post grooming. When I picked him up he seemed scared and was extremely happy to see me. But after we got him home he ran straight up his room and curled up on his bed. He was also vigorously shaking his head. When we checked his ears we saw several rashes on his ears. Next day, his head shaking became worse and he also started itching his bum. We took him to our vet who mentioned he had a severe ear infection and rashes due to the grooming. Mars seems to be in a lot of pain and we are praying he gets well soon. Several friends from our dog park had given us negative reviews about this place earlier which we had ignored since our experience had been good so far. All it took was one really traumatic experience for both my puppy and me to strongly recommend, NOT sending your puppy for grooming to this place. Update: Looking into the owners reply below it feels like they have an interesting way of twisting the issue around to blame the dog parent back. I do want to let you know that shaving him wasn't the issue but instead shaving him poorly that caused razor burns and ear infection is the issue. Just as an FYI, Mars was never so matted before and the previous groomer (his name was Rafael) did a great job. This issue was more to do with the new groomer. Further more the vet again had to remove more hair and clean his ear (got charged again for this). This just confirms the fact how poor the ear cleaning was. read more

I hate that I'm editing this review, just a few days after I left a 5 star one for Rafael. But my recent experience makes my stomach drop. I took my puppy in for his second full grooming appointment, and he was with a female groomer since Rafael wasn't working. When I picked him up, he seemed to be fine but the groomer & owner commented how difficult Augie was which had me thinking 1.) why I am being guilted and feeling bad 2.) pay an extra handling fee. Fine. But later on I noticed my puppy licking himself excessively. I then noticed his testicles extremely swollen and red. My heart sank. I called to speak with a groomer/owner but the receptionist put me off and said to rub some vaseline and maybe take it to a vet in a couple days. Note that the receptionist cannot discern what is urgent and needs to be quicker in understanding clients. You wouldn't at least relay my concerns to the groomer? She kept repeating that it was Augie's first time, this is a one-off, and I told her TWICE (in person and over the phone) that we've been here before and are returning clients. I felt unsettled which led me to call my local vet down in SoCal, sent him pics and videos, and said that this was not something to dismiss. Thank goodness he faxed over a prescription to a local pharmacy. Now my puppy is on antibiotics, drowsy, and in a cone I bought him. I feel as though there was no way they didn't know about cutting him/hurting him near a really sensitive spot. He would have definitely let out a painful ache, and that's something you should relay to their owner. It's heartbreaking that I had to discover it on my own. If you're going to take the time to tell me how difficult my puppy was, can you at least tell me what your resolution was? He is a 6 month, 5 pound puppy. Surely you can calmly restrain him to help cut his nails, or give him something to chew on as a distraction. Clearly this is an established business - I just feel defeated unless Rafael is the only one taking care of my dog. read more
