What a great decision! Splurged and used our SPG star points on an 80 Minute massage by Shelby who was awesome- beautiful choice of massage oils and great skill on Shelby's part and I now love massage! I usually don't get massages at hotel spas since they are overpriced and treatments are just ok. However, I was suffering for migraine and shoulder pain 2 days in a row that I was desperate for a massage. To my surprise, Kim did a wonderful job getting rid of my knots! Pressure was perfect the entire time and the lotion she used smelled yummy :) The spa itself could use a little bit more amenities than a steam room. I guess when you're in Maui...you would rather be outside sipping Mai tai by the beach than sit around inside a spa. FYI-some of their products are 20% on Mondays and ask for $15 off coupons for treatments over $100. read more

I booked the Heavenly Signature massage while staying at the Westin, and first impression: the venue is lovely. Nice locker space, nice showers, great steam room, citrus-infused water - all very lovely and definitely what I want in my spa experience. The therapist (whose name I can't remember) was sweet and kind, and I felt very comfortable and relaxed - we talked about pressure, my concerns, etc, and then... the massage was just okay. She focused mostly on my back, when we had talked about my legs, and by the end of my hour I felt rubbed down but unsatisfied. Tory Brown was excellent. I had a lomi lomi massage and it was so relaxing. He applied just the right amount of pressure and was courteous and mindful of my massage experience. He gets 5 stars. The reason the overall review is 4 is because there is a steam room, no sauna, and 1 relaxation room. So while you get access to it all day when buying a spa service, it's small and i can think of more relaxing places to sit and read a magazine. I understand space may be limited, but adding a sauna if possible at least gives u something else besides steam. read more

Love, love LOVE this spa...... The first day I came here, I went to the spa and checked things out. I gathered the much needed particulars and headed to the room where the other gals I was doing the upcoming Maui half marathon were eagerly awaiting. Once we all combed over the menu, we went down the next day and booked our treatments for the afternoon after the marathon. What an amazing idea THAT was. I ordered a package that included a 50 minute massage followed by a 5- minute facial, then lunch. The treatments were as good as any other treatment I have received at a high end spa and so was the lunch. A massage feels fantastic after a half marathon, and a facial feels equally great after a few days of sun. Where they really scored high points with me was in their lounging area. We got into our robes about 1.5 hours prior to our treatments and this lounge was outdoors and most of it was in the shade, but there were some areas for sun. THey had these huge reclining chairs with big cushions that you sink into, that had a thin, soft blanket at the foot of each one. After the morning we had pounding that highway, both myself and my friend each grabbed one of those recliners and took in the tranquility of the warm humid air, welcomed shade, unbelievably comfortable recliners, and we hydrated a bit on water with big sweet orange slices in it. I think it was about 15 minutes before I was completely passed out. Before my treatment, a nice gal came and got me. I had two hours of pampering, and then hit the lounge again, where I again found my friend passed out again after her treatments. My second visit to the lounge after my treatments, I didn't fall asleep again, but just took in my surroundings until my lunch came. I had a choice of about 5 different lunches with my treatment. I just got a healthy salad with some chicken on it. I figured I would take advantage of the 1200 calories I burned earlier and opted out of pigging out. PROS: - Really beautiful and clean spot. My party and I (there were the three of us) were able to make a same-day appointment- they worked with our schedule for the day and were really flexible. I enjoy a deep pressure massage, and that is definitely what I got. - Manicurists were very friendly, understanding, and great conversationalists. CONS: *I wish I could give a 3.5 star rating* because that's truly what I think this place deserves, but this will have to suffice. - Situation: Although they were able to flexibly work with our schedule, by the time we were "done," all services weren't completed and we they had to remove a service from our bill- we went in for a 50 minute massage, manicure, and pedicure, but never got to the manicure. What had happened was our manicurists were not informed that we had massages scheduled after/at a certain time (they were able to finish up our pedicures, but we did not get to our manicures), so we had to rush to our massage. - Pedicure: I really don't know which of the two may have been the issue here, but either our manicurists weren't trained very well or there weren't enough materials/tools to do simple designs (a friend in my party asked if she could have an ombré on her nails- nope; and then asked if she she could have a simple hello kitty on her toe nail- nope). So she settled with some cookie-cutter design and I settled with French tip. In addition, it took our manicurists almost 2 HOURS to complete a pedicure, which is ridiculous considering I only got a French tip (there was no nail polish that needed to be removed) and my friend got a simple design that I could've easily performed in well under 2 hours. - Massage: I don't normally count every little penny nor minute, but I believe my massage was shortened 5-10 minutes; I got into the massage room at 5:10 (this is just me entering, settling in, and undressing) and finished a little after 5:50 maybe.. NOT 50 minutes. Like I said, I don't normally count every little thing, but if I am paying over $200 on a massage, I would hope to get my money's worth. read more

I have had a lot of massages and this was by far the worst for the price. I had a massage and facial and I am beyond upset I paid almost $500 for the services. I would like a refund. I told the massage therapist to focus on my shoulders. He started with my lower back and I thought he would get there and then all of a sudden my massage was over. I didn't feel relaxed and didn't enjoy at all. The facial messed up my skin and I now have a bunch of little bumps everywhere. I think the products used were not good. Again I am beyond disappointed in this experience and will NOT be back. I do not recommend to anyone. The $35 - 70 min massages I get at home blow this place out of the water. I booked a facial and massage for myself and my mother a feed days ago. However, this spa is actually quite disappointing on many levels but the therapists/esthetician's are wonderful. The woman at the check in/out desk spoke with a soft "customer service voice" but she was not welcoming or friendly at all. It was almost as if she refused to make eye contact with both myself and my mother as we arrived. While the facilities are clean, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. The decor and music does not reflect the fact that you are indeed in Hawaii. I would have much preferred relaxing ukulele music over the dull elevator style music that played on a constant loop. The staff's uniforms were also dull and drab, would it kill to reflect the style and esthetic of the islands? Both my mothers and my massage therapist and esthetician however were both wonderful professionals who really got us relaxed despite the disappointing environment. However when we checked out all their good work was nearly ruined by the rude receptionist (who was the same person who checked us in). My mother and I purchased masks to take home which were given to us by our estheticians. My mom managed to misplace hers somewhere between the treatment room and the check out. When she noticed and told the front desk lady she simply said, "you can go back in and look for it." After my mother went back and very nice attendant helped her search high and low, but she could not find it. However the attendant said, "you can just get another one from up front, no worries." However when my mother came back the receptionist said, "too bad, I can call you if we find it." Never did she offer to simply give my mother another one. After dropping over $400 on our services what would have a simple sheet mask really cost?! All the while she never looked us in the eye, it seemed like she was annoyed by our very presence in her lobby. However when other guests came out she was very kind and courteous, the difference in her manner was clearly obvious. My mother and I were treated like low class criminals trying to steal merchandise, and it was such a sour note to end my relaxing treatments on. Not to mention I am a gold member with Marriott Bonvoy, and yet I felt so unwanted and unwelcome in that spa I couldn't imagine recommending other members to go there. Warning not for pregnant women . I wanted to treat myself to a prenatal massage during our baby moon in Maui. This is not the place to go to for prenatal massages. There are no special equipment or tables or pillows and the masseuse was clearly not trained for it. The prices I saw online are not reflective of the current pricing. I spent 200 for a facial which was relaxing but not therapeutic. She was nice. I had to lay on my back for the entire session which pregnant women are supposed to minimize but we were able to manipulate the chair as not to stress the back. It was relaxing and comfortable. I also spent 100 for a 25 minute prenatal massage who had no expertise in massage for pregnant women. He assumed that it was mostly neck and feet. No I told him I have back pain. He then asked if I wanted to lie on my belly or side. A 6 month pregnant person can't get a back massage while lying on her belly. I think the staff is great and professional, the facilities are nice but cold but until there is more training on the staff and better equipment for prenatal massages I don't think you should offer it to pregnant moms to receive a prenatal massage when you aren't able to deliver a different type of service. With $60 due to a mandatory service charge for a total of $360 the prices were steep for a service that I was unsatisfied with. The last prenatal massage I had was amazing and I was floating for days. I think I will try someone else locally as the pain continues to increase during my last trimester. read more

My friends and I were looking for a last minute spa day for five and decided to go with Spa Helani due the price and their availability. I've had spa treatments done at several other places, including hotels, and in comparison Spa Helani was disappointing. The lounge to hang out in before your treatment was a little underwhelming. There were 4 of us gals getting treatments done and we practically filled up the whole relaxation room. The way the lounge was set up it felt more like a social area rather than one to truly sit back and relax in, due to the limited privacy of the chairs and brightness of the room. Spa Helani does have a larger, outdoor lounge area which is co-ed so that is at least convenient if you're going with your significant other. My friends and I got varying treatments and we all had mixed reviews. - I had their "pregnancy massage" and I totally agree with another reviewer that this is by far not their speciality. The table and pillow set up they had for massage was comfy (I was 20 weeks preggers at the time) but aside from that I found this massage no different then a regular massage. I know that there are some areas a masseuse should avoid on a pregnant woman, yet the lady doing my massage didn't seem to know that. Plus, at the end of my massage she was recommending relaxing in a hot tub to unwind?! She definitely did not seem to have any knowledge about pregnant women when it comes to spa treatments. - In contrast, my 3 (non-pregnant) friends had massages: one said their massage was good and relaxing (she had a male masseuse) while our other friends had a couple's massage and felt their massage was a little weak and not relaxing enough. Our other friend received a facial and it was just okay, not anything special or extraordinary about it. We all enjoyed our spa day, in large part due to the super friendly staff, and we did leave feeling refreshed (which I think was more due to the fact we were on vacation in paradise) but the next time I'm in Maui (preggers or not) I think I'll be going elsewhere for a spa day. TIP: If you're staying at the Honua Kai Resport they'll give you a 10% discount because they are neighboring hotels. read more

Staying in Honua Kai which is a lovely resort in Kaanapali with its own spa BUT...recalling how magical my spa treatment was at Spa Helani at the Westin last year and didn't want to risk it. I called Spa Helani again and boy am I glad I did. Ask for Trinity. Her hands are magic. I have regular facials at home and can easily say she is one of the best. The only complaint I have is with the relaxing room that you are welcome to sit in before and/or after your treatment. It is a lovely room and I brought my book but by 5 minutes in, I was ready to rip my hair out. The walls are not sound proof and the hotel pool door is directly behind the lounge chairs so all you hear is the door squeaking and slamming shut. See you next visit, Trinity. read more

Decided to treat myself to a massage this time. It was my first massage ever, and it didn't disappoint. Emily was very nice and professional and made sure I was comfortable with the temperature and pressure knowing I was a newbie. She quickly figured out my entire left side is whacked out. Could tell she was trying hard to work out the knots, kinks and whatever else was going on with the left side. Appreciate the suggestions she gave for getting realigned. No soreness next day.
