WOW! What an amazing experience. I got my first facial from Amanda last week, and I'm hooked! The spa has really cute decor and a very serene atmosphere. I went in on a day that I had about 100 things racing through my mind, got to get this done, have to pick this up, blah blah blah.. As soon as Amanda put her hands on my face it was like what huh ummm what did i have to do? Ah screw it never mind, who cares... this facial is amazing! I was instantly put into the most relaxed trance. Amanda has a very nurturing touch and energy. You have no choice but to give into the pampering! My favorite part was all the extra little rubs, shoulders, arms, hands... total heaven. I have really sensitive skin so facials can go very wrong with me, If someone is too rough on my face its two weeks of looking like rudolph. Sophia is a great waxer. No double-dipping here, no pain/muss/fuss, it's easy to schedule an appointment online, street parking abounds, she's friendly as they come. It certainly doesn't hurt that her wax is chocolate-based. Prices are moderate, about 2x what you pay at a dirt-cheap (read: roll-on wax) salon. Full arm will cost you $40, full leg is $70, bikini is $30-45. But! Sophia's got a nice discount for you first-timers. And nothing makes a bikini wax easier than a 15% discount, a cheerful & expert practitioner, and the rich aroma of chocolate! read more

Let me preface this with saying I hate getting my bikini waxed. I am a super wuss, and it is always painful. I had laser hair removal on the sides of my bikini and my upper thigh, so all I need taken off is, well the rest of it. I don't get it done regularly, and had been to a few other places before researching on Yelp where to go next for the Brazilian wax. Spa Sophia came with some pretty good reviews and it doesn't disappoint. Amanda was sweet and gentle. Honestly, the wax didn't hurt as much as the others, I guess because they let it cool 1st. I've been going here for almost 1 year and Kimberly has saved my skin!! During a trip to LA, I booked my first facial ever with Amanda and discovered both a wonderful treatment and extraordinary esthetician. She was very warm and professional, and took the time to walk me through what to expect before starting the facial. Since I tend to enjoy zoning out during massages (and won't go back to a compulsively chatty therapist) I really appreciated that she explicitly told me that she would follow my lead on silence/talking. The facial felt great and the products smelled incredible. Afterwords my skin looked noticeably more even and clear. I had been worried that a facial would aggravate my rosacea or that I would break out afterwords, but actually since the session my skin has remained very healthy looking. Amanda was very knowledgeable about dealing with sensitive skin, and explained that she tailored my treatment to suit my particular conditions. The environment at Spa Sophia is beautiful without being frilly, quiet, and very clean. There was no hard sell of products. I moved from mid-Wilshire to the west side and I'm always skeptical about find new places to get my personal stuff taken care of (hair salons, spas, nail salon, etc.). But I had a day of running errands and my schedule was tight, I wouldn't afford to drive all the way out to Larchmont for a bikini wax so I found Spa Sophia through our most trust friend, Yelp. Not only does Sophia not have a single bad review, but the reviews are actually all very legitimate. She uses a sensitive wax that does not require the cloth so it's less resistant and much more subtle on the skin. She's great at keeping an interesting conversation and sneaking in the rips in between sentences so by the time I was finished, I hadn't even realized what was going on. The facility is clean and her services are very focused. I loved that it was in the middle of Abbot Kinney but plenty of parking Friday afternoon around her place. This is the best place to go for waxing and facials. I have been getting bikini waxes from Sophia from a few years now and I won't go anywhere else. The wax is the kind from France, it looks and smells like chocolate! And best of all, it doesn't hurt as much because it cools on the skin. Vanessa is a true healer. I came to Vanessa with terrible acne that I've suffered with on and off my whole life. At that point, I was losing hope for my skin. Vanessa told me she would clear it up, and though I wasn't very enthusiastic, I decided to let her try. And to my delight, she did! Within a couple of months I had clear skin. I've been to dozens of aestiaticians in my time, and I can say with whole-heartedly that Vanessa is the real deal. She knows ALL about skin, from the inside out. It'd been a year+ since my last Brazilian and that first wax can be killer, so I feel lucky to have found the very excellent Sophia to get back in the game. As a waxer, Sophia was sensitive to my pain but swift and reassuring of my flinches. As a person, I found her extremely relatable with great taste in tunes. (For me, it was the new Adele, which she charmingly sang along with intermittently.) Pricing was not cheap (though she made sure to give me the yelp discount!) but is absolutely worth it when you are talking about such a sensitive area. I got a Brazilian wax & facial with Sophia yesterday. We did the wax first (get it out of the way, right?) and it was the first one I've had in about 4 years! I HATE getting waxed, but after reading the reviews and wanting to treat myself, I gave it another shot. And I'm glad I did! Everything you read on here is spot on - Sophia is friendly, engaging, funny, quick, and really did an amazing job. It didn't hurt nearly as much as the others I have received, which I credit to her wax & also her bedside manner - she did an excellent job of distracting me then pulling a strip really quick before I knew what was going on, super genius. Then - the facial! I was so relaxed I nearly fell asleep. Great massages, steam, nice smells, I walked out of there with my skin exuding a nice, healthy glow. My skin and I love Spa Sophia. I travel to Venice once or twice a year, and recently started getting facials on my trips. I can't speak highly enough about receiving a facial from Amanda! She is professional, courteous, and a total warm presence. I have yet to experience the equivalent of the Signature Facial by this wonder woman. She makes me feel relaxed, but I also know that she is doing the right things for my skin. I get compliments for days after (and longer if I actually use the products). It had been years since I had a facial. So this past Valentine's day weekend, my sister and I decided to treat ourselves! Especially since all the reviews on here are so great :) We went all out with the Signature plus facial which included amazing peels and an extended massage. I had a lovely esthetician, Natarsha, who really took the time to talk to me about my skin before delving in to the facial itself. I've always suffered from hormonal acne and redness as well as dry/ oily skin. She's incredibly knowledgable and she gave me some great tips that I will implement into my daily regimen. Now for the facial details! I can honestly say that I was so relaxed, even with the extraction process (pop those suckers!) that I fell asleep for a bit of it. Every lotion and oil and even the peels smelled so good. Natarsha explained every step of the process which I like because I'm often curious about what exactly a certain product does for the skin. I also loved the massage portion of the facial, on my face and chest and arms. All in all I am so glad I tried this gem out and I will definitely be back in a few months! read more

This place is legit! I went in for a Brazilian and it flew right by. Those are by far the most painful and can sometimes be a little awkward, but the conversation made the process fly by. The salon is super cute and the bed is extremely comfy! I ended up also getting my eyebrows done and then my girl hooked me up by putting a couple creams on my face and a dab of cream on a little pimple I had coming in. It's already gotten smaller and less red since this morning! I have super sensitive skin all over and there's no redness or irritation anywhere! I saw Marylin for a Classic Hydrafacial for my first time and I have to say it was a great experience! I wanted to try it since I wanted a facial but I couldn't stay for a full hour. She explained every step, what I would feel, and how my skin might react. It was such a nice experience and my skin felt really refreshed and CLEAN! I thought I was just going for the facial, but she also educated me so much on my skin! In addition, she is one of the most transparent Esthetician's I have met and genuinely just wants to help you with your skin. Spa Sophia is awesome!! I've been in sunny SoCal for over 3 years now and haven't found a place to return for a good eyebrow waxing. The last lady waxed my "EYES BROWS" so much that everytime I looked in a mirror I thought I was a 19th century Japanese woman! Sophia advised me on how to grow out my "EYES BROWS" to the tune of an old skool Counting Crows CD on a misty day. Lovely. Hands-on the best brazilian wax ever. Sophia is lovely and the service is outstanding - so gentle and kind to your parts with such an attention to detail. I would highly recommend for first timers - the best out there and nice as can be. The cost is on the higher end but she also spends more time than other places who allow 15 minutes so it makes sense. As someone with tough skin I feel like we could just hurry up and get it over with (not v patient person) but she's so lovely it's worth it. The only warning is that once you go here you won't be able to stomach the cheapie places - so be ready to pick up a semi-expensive habit! read more

I went to Spa Sophia for a massage and facial... I've known Megan for over 2 years during which time I've received a Sirodhara treatment, 4 Nasya treatments and many Abhyanga Massages. Megan has a wonderful and very soothing energy about her; she is an extremely gifted healer. I no longer have the sinus or back issues I had before receiving these treatments from Megan. Truly a pleasure to be around she's a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend a massage or any Ayurvedic treatment with Megan, she is very caring, knowledgeable and experienced; truly a gifted healer and Ayurvedic Practitioner. A few days later I returned to Spa Sophia for a facial with Amanda who came highly recommended. Amanda was also extremely caring and knowledgeable... First of all, Spa Sophia is a really special spa located in Venice on Abbott Kinney Blvd. I have been going there for lots of services but recently tried Michael, who is a newer therapist to the spa, for prenatal massage (he does all kinds of massage but it was a bonus since that's the only kind I can get right now). Michael is so sweet and kind, he takes such good care of you, checking in to make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. You can tell he really cares about you, your body and experience. He has such a nice way about him and gives a GREAT massage. Amanda = Amazing. I've had "facials" before but nothing compared to her magic. I suffered from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer syndrome - the pores on my nose were clogged and angry and I only ever knew of Bioré pore strips and Proactiv. Always thinking I'd just have a red nose for life I came to Spa Sophia on a whim, ready to see if I could actually do something about it. Well, after Amanda's consultation and magic and product recommendation I have a NORMAL nose!!! No more red!!! And it never came back. She's already made it into my monthly budget. I also loved learning about my skin from her and how to properly take care of it. I feel so empowered and beautiful! No more makeup for this clear, evenly toned face! Ayla = Amazing. I got a 1.5 hr Deep Tissue massage from her yesterday morning for a shoulder and lower back injury that's been the bane of my existence for the past couple of months. It's constantly hurting and stuck, I can't do any upper body work because it's pissed off at me and no amount of acupuncture was helping. I've dealt with massive injuries and healing in the past so I know my body well enough to know when to move on and try something new and I'm so glad I booked a Deep Tissue massage with her. She got into both injuries like nobody's business - and loosened up all of the other parts of my arm and back that have been tight and compensating for the injuries. Morgan is my skincare hero! Regular facials with her have almost completely cured my acne and my scars are fading more and more. I moved to Venice about 2 years ago and started looking for a new bikini waxer in town. I'm extremely loyal to my waxer once I find one, and had been traveling back to Santa Barbara just for a wax! After a negative experience at Get Waxed in Venice, and I decided to try Sophia's services when she was still at Treehouse Spa. She is fantastic! Extremely professional and wonderfully personable. She uses the blue hard wax and compared to other waxes I've had, it's practically painless (well, maybe not painLESS, but definitely tolerable!). I was so pleased with her waxing skills that I get the occasional facial too. She is extremely knowledgeable about organic and eco-friendly products and what's right for your skin.
