It's calming from the moment you step inside. One of the employees was actively saging the place as we checked in. This is not an elaborate spa with changing rooms and a quiet lounge in the back, at least not that we saw. It's more like the chain massage spots - where customers wait in the lobby - but nicer. Rachel was a great massage therapist, applying just the right pressure for a therapeutic massage. The only issue was the face cradle. The pillow and cover kept slipping so at times thay my face was repeatedly pressing into the hard metal (or plastic?) bracket and we kept having to adjust. That dampened the experience a little bit. Such a lovely experience here for my first facial. My friend gifted me a facial for my birthday and I finally got to go to try it out. I was very lucky to have Tessa as my facial specialist as she was so kind and soothing throughout my entire experience. I felt relaxed, pampered, and thoroughly moisturized during my spa appointment. I'm so happy this was my first facial as now I already know what the best one will be like. My face loved the experience and definitely stayed glowing and clear for days after. I have somewhat sensitive skin (honestly my skin is hit or miss with random products), but everything used on my face gave me no irritation whatsoever. This place is horrible and has only gotten worse. I receive ClassPass membership through my work, and I've booked massage appointments three separate times only to have them not honor the appointment when I arrive. I live quite far away and I'm a new mom, so this is some of the only self care time I get, so you can understand how difficult it is to drive all the way here, thinking you have an appointment, only for them to not honor it. Last time this happened they told me to call in the morning to make sure the appointment was available, which is what I did today. When I arrived they STILL told me they had no staff available for my appointment. The front desk girl told me I'm the only person who has this issue and that I should "just pay for an appointment instead of booking through ClassPass". This is so incredibly rude since they opt to be on ClassPass, then essentially gaslight you when you attempt to book through there. I'm so upset because I've rearranged my day three separate times to try to get massages here, only for them to cancel the appointments with no notice and then essentially act like I'm a moron when I arrive. There are SO many better massage places in LA, don't even waste your time here. read more

Super rude staff, my masseuse Kitty was good but I got cut short on time for a mistake they did which was very frustrating. When she was about to start on my massage, she confirmed that she was giving me the relax and I told her I had requested the therapeutic (I booked over the phone so I know it wasn't me selecting the wrong item) plus the gua shua add-on. She proceeded to tell me she wasn't sure what the therapeutic service was and went out to the front to confirm the treatment. Then without confirming with me they added the CBD oil add-on which was never discussed so I was charged for 2 add-ons, one which I never requested. Also the gua shua felt like a toddler playing doctor with a plastic toy and rubbing my back with it for 10 seconds every 10 minutes. I really was looking forward to this massage and the overall experience at Alchemie because the place is really nice and they had cute products at the front but unfortunately I was very disappointed and will not be back. read more

I have had several excellent massage experiences here (particularly with Alexis and Vanessa), but this review is specifically for Amy. During another great therapeutic massage, Amy did a little foot reflexology. She said that I have a major hormone imbalance, along with some inflammation in my lower intestine that wasn't, in her words, "that bad... yet." When I questioned her about it, she said that she could feel the inflammation and tenderness in certain areas of my feet, and said I was probably just about to start my cycle, or that something was entirely wrong with my hormones. I brushed it off at first, thinking there was no way that was accurate, but the next day I had a horrible bout of late-onset food poisoning in my lower GI tract. Alarmed that Amy was correct about the inflammation in my intestines, and because I was over a week away from starting my cycle and had issues with it the last couple of months, I started researching hormone imbalances. Sure enough, the symptoms that popped up were things I had been questioning my doctors about for years that were brushed off, or were new issues that had only just started occurring in recent months. As luck would have it, I had an appointment with a new doctor the week after my massage. I told her my symptoms and this story, and she immediately ordered bloodwork to test my insulin and hormones. Lo and behold, my results were out of range, and after years of being told I'm too young to have anything wrong with me, I was finally diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. I am now receiving the medical care and medication I need, and it's all because of Amy's in-depth knowledge of her craft. All that aside, she is a wonderful conversationalist and a great therapist who effectively massaged my right hip/glute/hamstring so well that I am no longer experiencing sciatica pain there. I would recommend Amy a thousand times over, whether you need a massage, a good conversation, or even (in my case at least) a medical diagnosis! read more

I booked through Classpass and am so happy that I did. I started out with an Infrared Sauna Session and they set the time so you have 10 minutes to shower in the 45 minute session. It was so nice and relaxing, you can hear the "typical spa" music from the hallway which made for a great ambiance overall. I then had a 60 min Massage with Hot Stones with Kitty and I cannot recommend this enough. Kitty was amazing and the hot stones was the best add on, I'm not sure I can go back to a regular massage now. Would absolutely come back to Alchemie Spa. read more

Upon entry into the spa, it' smelled of organic sugar and spice and all things nice. The receptionist was very polite and accommodating,; the reception area was more than quaint. It was inviting and relaxing; you knew no matter what you were going to enjoy your relaxation day. My therapist, Anastasia, was perfect for me. her hands were rm and firm; the pressure was great, and the hot stones were the perfect heat and size. In addition to all of this goodness and sweetness, they validate parking! I highly recommend this spa and of course, Anastasia, keeping in mind, my first visit and she has been my only massage therapist!. I would add, for the cost of the session. Kitty is NOT amazing. I indicated I wanted a strong pressure massage when I scheduled an appointment. It didn't appear that was communicated beforehand to Kitty so when I expressed my desire for deep tissue, she reassured me she would take care of it. When I commented it was still too soft of a touch, Kitty proceeded to dig her elbow with brute force, and without rhyme or reason, along my spine and low back right above my hip bone. This bone on bone maneuver was anything but pleasant, it felt like I was being sliced with the mouth of a glass bottle. If anyone knows deep tissue, you understand it can be intense as an experienced massage therapist applies targeted pressure to release tension in the underlying tissues. It should hurt so good, but her touch went from soft to spiteful. I didn't want to believe that Kitty would be upset that I was voicing my needs and when I asked if she was, she terminated the session. Instead of being upfront and honest about her capabilities, she decided to first take revenge. We seek massage services for relaxation and relief, not to create tension and be terrorized as we lay naked and vulnerable. I let Ava at the front desk know about my experience with Kitty. She listened and offered a complimentary massage. I will not be returning. This kind of abuse should not, and cannot, be tolerated. And I wouldn't trust a spa that subjects our bodies to malicious behavior and toxic individuals. read more

Wanted to love this place as my husband booked me a massage for my birthday as a special treat. It ended up being one of the worst spa experiences I've ever had. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my appointment and ended up not having a massage therapist take me back until 15 minutes after the appointment time started. Throughout the massage people were talking loudly in the adjacent room and playing music that conflicted with the generic calming soundtrack being played in my room. I also had to remind my therapist to increase pressure several times, and the problem areas discussed at the beginning of the service were largely ignored. I ended up being shorted 10 minutes for the time that I payed but I honestly couldn't wait to leave. My neck feels 10x worse than when I walked in. Will not be going back. read more

I paid. But I will never go back. I scheduled a 1 hour facial. The facial itself felt super rushed. Exfoliating my eyelids? Hm, never had that before during a facial. The esthetician ended the facial after 40 minutes. I didn't even get moisturizer? They still charged me full price, no explanation. What the absolute f***. The place wasn't as clean as I expected and the service was just really bad. I had booked this service as a pick me up, and just was not in the mood to argue. I feel like they should have noticed that I was checking out at 12:25 following a 1hour service that started at 11:45, but I guess they didn't really care. So I paid, and even tipped, but left super annoyed. They sent a follow up survey and I provided them feedback, but I absolutely will never go back. First and last time! read more

I wish I could give a negative star review! I got an hour hydra facial at this spa last Tuesday (July 2nd). After receiving facial treatment from this spa and having what I thought was a relaxing day (going home and doing absolutely nothing!), I woke up in the middle of the night-3am with my eyeball swollen shut! I had to go to the hospital 3 different times because I got a facial from this place, I am now on two different types of antibiotics, one oral and the other are eyedrops. I have been diagnosed with preseptal cellulitis and a corneal abrasion both to my left eye. I still have to go back to the Steinway eye institute on Monday to make sure that the antibiotics are working properly. I just want to say that this has not been my first time coming to this spa. I have received facials here before. But, this is the first time anything like this has happened to me!!! I am posting this on here as a warning to anyone else.... You do not want to go through what I just went through/am still going through!!! read more

LOVE! I came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and got a wonderful couples massage. When we arrived, we were offered hot tea and other drinks to get us comfy. They also asked us if we preferred a male or female therapist and if there were any other things they should be aware of before beginning. We were then escorted to the couples room which was very clean, relaxing, and pleasant. We got a one hour full body massage and I enjoyed every minute of it. The parking lot is across the street and they validate for you, I think up to 3 or 4 hours. Pro tip: Check in on Yelp once you're there for 10% off :) read more

This place was great for a quick and relaxing massage! Came here with coworkers and had a great time. I got a 90 minute deep tissue, which was both amazing and incredibly painful (in a good way). This is a quality, clean place. All products are organic which is great too! The only downside, in my opinion, is that there are no locker rooms or showers. I personally hate squeezing back into my jeans or socks after being lathered in oil, and it would be nice to have a place to rinse off before I go on my merry way. I brought a change of loose comfy clothes for after, which made it better, and I highly recommend doing that! Parking was easy and right across the street. I've been meaning to post a review for ages. I got the micro current facial here for around $300. They used a nuface which is an at home tool that costs around $300 itself to own AND used something very similar to a Clarisonic that was very abrasive. I've gotten many high end facials at around this price point when living in nyc and they've always used professional level microcurrent machines. It didn't feel at all high end which is disappointing as I live close and was looking forward to being a regular customer. read more
