Get a Fastpass early in the day because this ride is infamous for massive wait times.

This is actually my all time favorite Disneyland ride! Indiana Jones is just a millimeter behind but still cannot top out of this world SPACE MOUNTAIN! OK, I'm not trying to sound like a cheese ball hippie or anything but I seriously feel like I'm in another universe on this ride. HAHAHAHHAHAH Like I am totally taken into another "zone" when I'm on this ride. It's not even that I'm creative and imaginative but this ride really feels like another place, another time. Always feels good to escape reality for a quick sec. Hands down #1 disneyland ride fo sho!!!! Definitely get the fast pass for this one. This ride is worth it but it's not 1.5 to 2 hours of your time worth it! What would disney life be without the fast pass???? read more

This one's not for me. Way too long a line and I got soaked. not splashed, soaked. I wanted to experience the ride as everyone seems to love it. Well, I've done it and well, that was enough for me. That's just me. I know most people love this one. read more

Best ride everrrrrrr!! Although Disneyland has changed since the last time I've been here, it's still the happiest place on Earth. Last year, when I went to DisneyWorld in Orlando, FL.. the rides there were a lot different than the ones in Disneyland. A lot of things has changed, but I still love this ride :) read more

i love this ride but never get to go on it enough. when the weather is perfect for it i get there too late to get a fast past to return at a decent hour and the line is usually too long to go stand by. if that's not the case it's too cold. something i definitely suggest is taking advantage of the single rider option... unless you want a picture, going with your friends really isn't that important unless you're at disneyland on a rare occasional visit then i definitely understand wanting to ride it with your friends and family. the ride itself is great and really long and incorporates a storybook type ride with great drops, just be prepared to get wet!!! read more

I love this ride and forget how much fun it is every time I come to Disneyland. Don't think too much about it and just go on and enjoy. I sat in the second seat and my feet got so drenched (after the second drop - not even the big drop!) that I was really glad that I brought sandals in my bag. My clothes dried off within an hour or so but my shoes stayed drenched for the rest of the day so bring some sandals! read more

As far a "log plume rides" go, this is one of the better examples. With good animatronics and a fair chance of getting wet, this is one of the better "cool off rides." The line during hot weather is long and it almost doesn't make the splash at the end worth it. Do yourself a big favor and get s fast pass. Also, be prepared to walk around in wet shorts and flip flops. The ride failed to wet my shirt, which is what I was hoping for. read more

I love the update they did to this ride. Space mountain turned into Hyperspace mountain and it is so much faster than before. It became more thrilling and the effects of the ride makes you feel as if you were really part of Star Wars. There are some days where the wait is between 25-30 minutes and it's worth waiting for. I would not however wait more than an hour for this ride, it's better to get a fast pass. read more

I've always loved Space Mountain, but the newly renamed Hyperspace Mountain is Star Wars themed, and cheesy fake space ships are projected near the coaster. The glow from them lets you see parts of the track, and diminishes the excitement of the traditional dark ride. read more

I know its just an overlay, but I enjoy this more than default Space Mountain (and more than the Halloween overlay, Ghost Galaxy). I love Space Mountain the ride, and then infusing it with Star Wars graphics and music really kicks this up a notch. An 11 out of 10. One thing I do enjoy, too, is that I swear some of the graphics are straight out of an old video game, like Rebel Assault or X-Wing, which cracks me up because they're like 20 years old. I don't know if this is the case, just a hypothetical. I wouldn't wait in a 90 minute line for this, but I would definitely go out of my way to snag a few fast passes throughout the day to enjoy it! read more

This ride deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Rating this ride less than 5 stars is a travesty to Disneyland. Definitely the best ride at the park, it always has a LONG line. Fast passes are no longer available after about half the day. Best way to tackle it is to hit this ride first thing in the morning, grab a fast pass, and ride it. First ride in the morning, line should only be about 30 minutes or less, so it's well worth it if you then get to ride it twice with the fast pass. It is a high speed ride that has you "flying through the galaxy". The music is cute, and adds to the fun of the ride. Putting your hands up on this ride only makes it 10 times better. Right now, Disneyland is all decked out for Halloween, and that includes Space Mountain. It is transformed into GHOST GALAXY. The music is changed to a "spookier" soundtrack, and a ghost follows you around, trying to slash you at every corner. Definitely a must ride this season, even though the lines are ridiculously long. Btw, hidden mickey on this ride is just way to obvious. read more

Splash Mountain is without of a doubt one of my favorite theme park attractions. It gets (almost) everything right. The magic starts before you even get on the ride. Whether you're waiting in line or fast passing, you will walk by Splash Mountain and hear at least one terrified scream. Turning towards it, you will witness the apparent result of dropping a log down a 52.5 foot drop at 40-45 mph (can you believe Splash Mountain exceeds Space Mountain's top speed?)--an enormous splash capable of scaring off those allergic to water and delighting thrill-seekers. Never mind that the splash probably isn't natural. The effect is brilliant. And if you're at the front of the log, the real splash is even more exciting. But I am getting ahead myself. Splash Mountain isn't great just because of one big thrill towards the end (and that thrill is just one of many). It also succeeds at telling a decent story, complete with an (albeit brief) introduction to the characters, a great setting in a variety of plot-related locations, a bad guy (and comic sidekick), a turning point, a potentially disastrous climax, and a happy ending. It may be a simple children's tale, but the way the tale is tied to the ride is fantastic. Riders get to live Br'er Rabbit's leap into the briar patch first hand! Another key to the story telling is the music. Splash Mountain contains some of the catchiest tunes you will hear at Disneyland, and that IS saying something. Don't be surprised if you find yourself whistling the songs a few hours later (or perhaps belting them at the top of your voice in the shower the following morning). Singing all of the aforementioned songs are an eclectic collection of animatronic animals (which is no surprise considering they were moved in from various attractions of Disneyland past). They are admittedly dated compared to the likes of the Droids in the Star Tours line, Ursula in The Little Mermaid at California Adventure or Jack Skellington during the seasonal Nightmare Before Christmas variant of the Haunted Mansion, but they still manage to get the job done with charm, if not grace. And speaking of a lack of grace, the "Splash" in the title of the ride is appropriate, and perhaps even a bit of an understatement. I often ponder if they would have been better off calling the ride Wave Mountain, since the various smaller drops on the ride tend to produce enough force for waves to rebound off nearby walls and back into the rider's logs, leaving those towards the front with puddles in their laps. I made the educated mistake of riding in the first row on a warm evening. It was during one of the ride's relatively small drops that it happened. A small waterfall cascaded from my overturned shoe a few seconds later, to a smattering of giggles from the riders behind me. So yes, you will get wet. And you might end up with a lake in your shoe. Sit towards the back to lower (but not eliminate) the risk of being drenched. And BEWARE THE SMALL DROPS. I love Splash Mountain. It's the perfect combination of a series of escalating thrills and a well paced story told with music, animatronics... and the occasional wave. Even as an annual pass holder, I try to ride Splash Mountain at least one time per visit. But for those of you who can only visit the park once, be sure not to skip it over a little water. It is among the best attractions Disneyland has to offer. read more

This is one of my top five favorite attractions in either of the Disneyland Resort parks. This a fast paced log ride that features a big drop near the end that will have you screaming, laughing, cheering, giggling, and experiencing just about every other form of excitement you can come up with. You can even purchase a printed picture of that moment after you exit the attraction so you can relive that glorious moment for all time. There are a couple other smaller drops during the ride as well which keeps you on your toes as you wind through several scenes that depict the story of Brer Rabbit. On a hot day, this is a perfect way to cool off, but the line will be very long so take advantage of the Fast Pass and single rider options whenever possible. Be prepared to get wet, there's really no way around it on this ride although you don't know if you will just get a few drops or fully drenched. Either way, you are sure to find your laughing place somewhere along the waters of this magical ride. read more

My family and I rode Splash Mountain when it first came out in the 90s, so I was looking forward to riding it with my husband when we visitied Disneyland early last month. HC had never ridden it before, so we made a dash for it the first night we were at the park. As we went through the que area, he asked me about the drop. I told him it wasn't that bad, but I could tell he doubted me since he heard other riders screaming as they went down the mountain. We got to sit right on the front, so I could tell he was starting to get more anxious about it. I thought the ride seemed a little jerkier than what I remember, but hey, that was a long time ago, so I know that wear and tear definitely takes place. HC enjoyed the ride a lot, but felt he needed to redeem himself since he looked super scared in the photo taken of us at the top of the drop. We weren't able to sit in the front again, so we never were able to get another nice shot of our faces. read more

Due to this ride, I can officially say that I have fallen victim to two things: the queasy stomach monster & being the laughing stock of my little cousins, as well as my younger brother. Yep, when the picture came on the screen after the ride...all I heard from them was "ahahaha!! why are your eyes closed?!" But, don't worry I'm tough, I can take it! The thing that gets me is that of all the roller coasters I've been on in my life...this was the one that finally got to me. Perhaps it was the fact that from the second the ride starts, it is extremely dark. Then, these unexpected bright lights, sparks, & blasts come out from everywhere around you...& on top of that you are going super fast. I guess I got discombobulated & really dizzy. About half way through, I just wanted it to be over already...my body couldn't take much of it anymore. Nonetheless, it's still a cool ride. A very popular choice among many. But, my advice would be that if you're one who gets dizzy quick & easily, you might wanna think twice about going on it. read more

I think most everyone will agree that everyone hates the long lines when waiting to ride a ride.. You know the drill, few hours waiting in line for a few minutes of zoom zoom. I forgot about the storyline with this ride. It's actually pretty cute. My hubby and I went on Splash Mountain when the line was 10 minutes! Yes! No one was at the park yet since it was pouring in the rain. We were already getting wet by the rain, so we might as well take advantage of the short line. This ride is always a classic! I think I've jinxed this ride. Every time I go in line, it breaks down. It makes me sad though, because I love it so much. Space mountain is a roller coaster in the dark. It's so much fun - you could ride it a number of times and never fully remember which turns happen where. I always feel like it gets faster every time I ride it, but that's just the magic of the dark. If you like roller coasters, this is definitely for you. Be sure to Fast pass it as soon as you get to the park since the wait is usually long. read more

I actually liked this ride more before the renovations. Now it's pitch black most of the time instead of scenes with stars. They also changed the music to make it a little more techy, and it goes a lot faster. Now this ride gives me nausea. :( If you plan on riding it, it's definitely worth getting a fast pass. read more

Space Mountain is a staple ride at Disneyland. It is a fast, space-themed roller coaster that's 100% in the dark. This is easily one of my favorite rides. It is so fast and jerky but that makes it all the more fun! I also love that it is in the dark as it definitely adds to the suspense. Arguably the best ride at Disneyland! You never know if you'll get soaked or stay dry as a bone but the ride is just as fun every single time. We always bring a big plastic bag to wrap our valuables in (camera, phones, etc...) because chances are at some point you will get a bit waterlogged. Don't be a wuss, stick those hands in the air on the drop! Everybody's got a laughing place :) And never ever wait in the regular line for Splash. Grab yourself a FastPass and use an hour of your time to hop on another ride. read more

I'm a sucker for adrenaline and it catches you a few times. I HIGHLY suggest getting on the ride as the fireworks display is on. We were lucky enough to go on this ride the day it re-opened. I'm not sure what they changed, I have a feeling it was the amount of water. We got soaked. I do not remember ever getting that soaked before. (Granted, it has been a few years.) From start to finish it is a fun ride, the music and the drops are so fun! The room you go into after the big drop (with all the orange leaves) is my favorite scene! So many details that you can't take it all in on one ride! I highly recommend fast-passing this one. You may get angry glares, but who cares? They should've fast passed. read more

I love this ride because it's usually one of the shortest at night so waits are 5-10 minutes. Seat 1-2: Wet for sure! Seat 3: Your thighs, more so right thigh, gets wet from the third drop but not so much top half. Seat 4: You'll stay pretty dry compared to the first three. Seat 5-6: I have not sit in these seats yet. Maybe next time. read more

I do really like this ride..... it is a little unpredictable as far as how wet you're about to get when you climb into the log. You can literally walk away dry as a bone or completely soaked through your clothes. It's also a good story to see and there are some good views from outside. read more

Like everyone said, definitely fast pass this. Longest line and it's in the sun... If you're going in the daytime of course. I was super excited for the ride but once I got on it and it started going oh boy did it gave me a headache. You're traveling through space and it's like the whole place is spinning around you. Definitely not a ride for me. It got slightly better after that part but it had already ruined the ride for me. But don't let my review scare you. If it wasn't for my horrible motion sickness this would've been a great ride for me. Everything looked realistic. read more

Obviously the best ride at Disneyland. Go when it's a weekday, or beware the 120+ minute wait times. When in doubt, get fast passes--it's a guarantee you'll always use them, because who doesn't want to ride the fast thrilling ride more than once per day?! This is a great beginning "roller coaster" for your scaredy pants (points to self) because there are not too many sudden drops--also, because the ride is basically pitch black (you're surrounded by "stars") and it is quite exhilarating. Extra bonus stars for the music, which is awesome. Cameras come right as you start seeing lots of bright stars (look for red colors flashing towards you) and be prepared to make a funny face, if you desire. :) read more

Space Mountain is a classic. This ride has been around since I was a wee girl if not earlier than that and it's popularity is justified. My group and I rushed to Space Mountain to get a FastPass before waiting in line for the ride itself. It took awhile, as we know it would, and this was early in the morning. We finally arrived at the start of the ride and got in. If you've never been to Space Mountain, the ride is basically inside a mountain and the entire ride is done in the dark so you don't know where the twists and turns are coming from. Screaming is optional but definitely recommended for fun. Towards the end of the ride, a light will flash as a picture will be taken of everyone in the car. If you want to take a picture of the screen with that picture, you should rush out of the car at the end of the ride and head that way. Otherwise it will go away and you won't be able to take that picture. Not that my group realized that the first time around and ran during our second ride... ;) The second time around was with our FastPass and the difference between the wait times was amazing. We went back around noon time and we saw the regular line. It was super duper long, way longer than when we waited in it in the morning and we were really happy we were using our FastPass. The second time we rode Space Mountain, we felt like the twists and turns were different compared to our first ride. It even felt a little faster. Your mileage may vary. Either way, Space Mountain is definitely a ride to ride if you're at Disneyland. read more

One of the best rides in the park. I came early here with my best friend and we splurged on a VIP purchase pass so that we didn't have to wait in the long line-up. Coasters scare me. Coasters in the dark make me more scared. This is actually one of the fastest coasters I've been on. After I had to take my best friend to the bathroom to throw up. read more
