Love love love this ride! Always makes me so happy going on it and it is most likely my favorite ride at Disneyland! I always get so excited when I'm heading towards the ride and you can hear the zip-a-dee-doo-dah song playing and you can see people making the plunge down the drop as you're walking by. :) some tips: -it really doesn't matter which seat you sit in on the ride when it comes to avoiding getting wet because you will get wet no matter what. It probably has something to do with weight distribution in the flume. -Also, it is best to sit in front in the log flume because you get the best view for watching everything on the ride eg. you aren't having to look from side to side to catch everything that's going on. It's especially awesome being at the front when you're going down the drop and get the great view of looking down the hill to the briar patch and water down below, so exciting! True, you can get really wet if you're in the front, but part of the thing of being on this ride is getting wet! read more

Splash Mountain ROCKS. Especially if you have actually seen the movie this is based upon, and judging from all the comments, I don't think anybody has. Guests have no frame of reference for all the details....the actual storyline, the wisdom of Uncle Remus, the actual quotes from the movie, the background music. Knowing all this does enhance my enjoyment of this particular attraction. Most guests don't know who these characters are, or what the story is about. And since Disney is all about story, I can't help but wonder WHY? Why, in this enlightened day and age, Disney still refuses to release SONG OF THE SOUTH in it's own country of origin. One of Walt's beloved classics, from whence we received the Oscar-winning song Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah? hmm. (It's available folks, from other countries, just google it. I have a lovely copy. I'm not one for crazy thrill rides, and although I love nearly every big ride at Disneyland, Space Mountain is probably the only one that I don't particularly like. However, from an unbiased point of view, the ride is great - it's thrilling, fast, and you're basically plunged into darkness while the stars and galaxies zoom by you. They take a picture of you near the end. There are strobe lights near the beginning, and staring into them might make you feel a bit disoriented and dizzy before you even start the actual ride. During Disneyland's Halloween season, Space Mountain becomes Ghost Galaxy, which is more frightening than the usual; the ride is lit up with "creepier" colors, there are ghosts popping up throughout the ride, and it uses a different soundtrack. Of course, if you're looking for a genuine scare, this might not give you that (after all, it is Disneyland, and everything's supposed to be generally family-friendly), but it is a nice Halloween touch. Space Mt. at any time of the year is a pretty long wait, especially if you're planning on going in the middle of the day. Use the Fastpasses, or go super early or super late in the day. Obviously, these are just guidelines and it depends how crowded the park is whenever you're going. Great ride for most people and practically a landmark at Disneyland; not for the easily sick/nauseous! read more

My daughter convinced me to try this ride and we went for the fast passes. Line for fast pass holders only took a few minutes, while stand by was over 60 minutes. There are 2 drops in the ride, with the last one at 50 feet, which did scare me. You can see my frightened face in the snapshot. Both my daughter and I had our eyes closed the first time. The ride gets more fun, the more times you go on. Each time gets a little less nerve wracking. Plus on a hot day, it's a fun way to cool off. Just prepared to get wet. Bringing along an extra set of clothes will help on cooler days. Main downside is the long lines. If possible, go for the fast passes and skip the wait. read more

Long line, never moves. Seems like we were in line forever. Just when you think you are alnost there it winds around again. Worst line in all of disneyland. The ride was not worth the wait. read more

HyperSpaceMountain is amazing. With everything that is happening during the ride it almost makes you forget that you are on a roller coaster. Knowing every twist and turn during regular Space Mountain this makes me forget the track enjoying the X wing fighter mission. read more

Loved this ride! Lots of fun, critter features! My only concern was the line-the line takes FOREVER people! You may think that I say this for every single ride, but this one-oh my lord. We started out waiting in front of the ride itself, and went all the way AROUND it, until we reached a very small door. The door led to a dark 'cave" and it was very loud inside. The cave part took around 45min. FINALLY, after having our hopes that it was the line for the line, they made us go BEHIND the ride, and go around it until we found gray stairs (which took around 1hr), and then they made us line up inside a building with 2 stories in it.. (one story took around 30min-so 1hr in total), then in the building, we had to make our way down, we finally thought this was it, but it turns out there's a second part of the cave-THAT WAS ONLY HALF THROUGH SO FAR! In the 2nd cave (which toook 1hr 30min), it was VERY sweaty and then we had to go up another flight of stairs (15min), then we needed to go DOWN the flight of stairs (15min), an finally into the ride flume-where they had iron bars for each row (that part took 10min). not worth the wait. GET THE FAST PASS IF YOUR GOING DURING THE SPRING BREAK time AND THE SUMMER TIME. TRUST ME-YOU WILL WANT IT. read more

Having it completely dark was a whole new experience I wasn't entirely prepared for. I really liked it. The ride it self is not super fast not are the drops too scary but not knowing where you are going changes the hype factor to a whole new level. I really like the interior design of stars and the fast passes were a nice way to get ahead of a lot of the line. I think I went on this 2-3 times during my trip. This ride is the ride if you want to quickly cool off in the hot summers of LA! You will get soaking wet on this ride so make sure you give your valuables and anything else you don't want to get wet to someone who isn't riding the ride because you will get soaking wet! This ride generally doesn't have a long line which is always great. The ride is basically a log ride and it takes you around a tiny mountain and then you drop and huge drop and get soaking wet. They also take your photo on this ride which makes for great and awesome photos to remember! The ride is located next to thunder railroad train so it's not hard to find. If you aren't a fan of rides that get you soaking wet, rides with no restraints, or drops of any kind this is not the ride for you. It's always great afterwards to see everyone come off the road shocked at how soaking wet they are. Sitting in the back will get you the most wet compared to the front. read more

Seriously... get a FastPass for this attraction (or Indiana Jones) first! These are the two attractions that seem to run out of FastPasses the quickest! Why, you ask? Well, because they're awesome! But if I had the choice, I'd choose Space Mountain first! It's essentially a roller coaster in the dark. It's freakin' fantastic! You start off pretty slow by going into outer space. After about a minute in outer space, they countdown from ten to your takeoff... and that's. when. you. go. fast! I was told it only goes about 35-40 mph, and that seems slow, but believe me, it feels pretty fast. At least to me, it definitely feels faster than 35-40 mph. It doesn't matter where you sit - front or back or in the middle. It's not a long vehicle, so the back doesn't really feel any faster and the front doesn't really feel any slower. I've probably sat in every seat. I go on this attraction that much. Hahaha. There are no loops on this attraction... although a loop in this kind of darkness would be kind of awesome. (Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith in WDW is kind of light inside... so you can see where you're going.) The height limit for this attraction is. 40". Oh, and go on it during Halloween Time when they try to make it scary by adding a loud, freaky ghost on fire in Ghost Galaxy - but only during Halloween Time! It feels like a completely different experience with this overhaul. read more

This is a good ride to have a fastpass for, as there is almost always a line. The ride is basically a rollercoaster in a dark mountain. During Halloween time frame, the ride changes to Ghost Galaxy, which is the same ride but with some scary elements. The start of the ride has completely different animations in tunnel. There are different scary pictures flashed on the side of the ride and music to go with the pictures. I would recommend trying the ride during this time, if possible. read more

I love Splash Mountain, mostly because of the racial undertones, because that is not what Disneyland is about, which makes it even better of a ride. What sucks about this ride is that after the initial short drop, there's no action for a good few minutes, until the vultures are talking to you and I think the rabbit has died at that point in the story told by the music. Going up that huge rail before you the huge drop is always a horrible experience for me. I am afraid of heights, I do not like getting water all over me unless I'm at Hurricane Harbor and again, I am afraid of heights. I am afraid I will fall out of the log and die. Yet, every time, I magically survive. My shorts get soaked and my hair becomes wavy again, making me question why I bother straightening my hair when I'm going to Disneyland. Still, such a fun ride, merely for the adrenaline rush of that long drop. It's always really hard to censor myself though from screaming "HOLY FUCKING SHIT" as we're dropping because there are children on the ride and I do feel guilty, but sometimes I forget. It's always fun screaming obscenities at Disneyland! This ride is a requirement if you go to Disneyland. If you don't go on it, you should have just stayed home and not wasted your money on the cookies sold on Main St. read more

Classic ride. Got wet in January, but the drop was really fun.

The. Best. Ride. Of. All. Time. What's not to love? The awesome looking dome, the eerie hallways, the glowing lights, the launchpad, the ride, the repeated blue lights, the tunnel, space, the speed, the stars, and of course, THE MUSIC. I'll make this one short and sweet. This is a crazy, high speed, in the dark, roller coaster that you simply CANNOT MISS! The lines are long usually but the wait is WELL worth it, and you can always get a fast past but don't wait because they do run out at the end of the night! (We found that out the hard way) It's space themed so the whole ride looks like you are blasting through the stars. You can't see the track at all so it is exciting at every turn, you just gaze around you at the many blinking stars all over the walls. The really isn't a drop, so if that's what you are looking for you may not be interesting in this ride, but it is fast and very very fun. read more

The transformation of Space Mountain to Hyperspace Mountain has made my whole family very happy! The Star Wars theme definitely adds interest and excitement to the original ride. From the effects and images (it's still mostly dark) to the audio, the whole thing makes me smile. I agree with another reviewer that it's time to make Hyperspace permanent and give the staff Star Wars themed outfits- that would complete the whole thing! I really hope Disney decides to keep Hyperspace and not return the ride to its original form anytime soon! read more

We didn't get the fast passes so we did have to endure the 100 minute wait at the ride. It was cool that they added the Star Wars element to the ride. My feet were aching though. We did a 2 day pass at the parks and did Star Tours twice, but we didn't want to ride Hyperspace Mountain again because of the long, long wait. So if you want to ride it, get there early and get the fast pass. read more
