I live so close to here but have never been because it always looks so dark inside. We finally came to grab some food to take back and now have my favorite grilled cheese restaurant. We ordered the Cuban and Andromeda and both were unreliably tasty. I never got the grilled cheese faze but I do now. Both sandwiches tasted like a sinfully perfect sandwich and i honestly don't have a favorite out of the two. I also highly recommend the totchos. While it can be kinda pricey after you load it up with everything you may want, it's totally worth it. Delicious grilled cheese dive bar! I love the grilled cheese, there are soo many options even for vegans. I got the #5 with mushrooms, onions, gouda, cheddar on sourdough instead of rye. While it was scrumptious, I think I'll build my own and swap out gouda for pepperjack and add some extras (avocado, garlicky spinach, roasted red pepper, chipotle mayo...yum!). I really liked the Apple Bomb cider with 6.2% alcohol and the red blend wine. I wasn't a fan of the white wine, it had a weird taste. While the tots looked appetizing, my friend who has made every ditch effort to try to like them (at least 3 times), dissuaded me not to. I'm glad I followed her advice, because I was so stuffed! It gets pretty packed around 6 over the weekend, so come early or be prepared to stand! I'm glad my friend snagged a seat for us right at 6 as I got there a 1/2 hour later and it was packed. This place defines comfort food! A zillion versions of grilled cheese + a gazillion beers and ciders + tater tots. I had their Cuban sandwich (delicious), a couple of beers, and (of course) tots. The sandwich was just the right amount of crispy on the outside with melty cheese and porky goodness on the inside. The beers were refreshing and since their selection is rotating, may never be seen again. The tots were, as always, crunchy and delicious. It's food to make you happy. On the downside, parking is tight. I got there a bit before 7, midweek, and grabbed the last space. We also got the next to the last booth. About 15 minutes later the bar seats were all taken and it was standing room only. So for the best possible time, get there early and hungry, and thirsty. read more

I have gotten takeout here a few times during COVID. They have not had any seating inside or out. I like their cheese sandwiches and tater tots. I particularly like the vegan cheese sandwiches. The tots are also very good. They are nice and crispy, and they have a decent selection of sauces. Pre-COVID, I enjoyed their beer selection. I can't believe I haven't done this review yet, but here it goes. This place is a cheese lovers dream, and that goes for dairy and vegan cheese lovers. Little did I know I would be mind blown. I have come to love the vegan burger patties because that's all we eat in my household now and they did it just right. The cheese was melted to perfection, the thousand island went better with the burger than I could imagine, and the onions and pickles really just bring it all together. I now understand the obsession with the krabby patty from spongebob because I'm completely obsessed w/ this patty melt. My boyfriend got the same thing and just changed it to vegan cheese and he was happier than me. He was so happy that we went back the next day only to get it all over again, and this time with a beer. Their beer selections are bomb, and I'm a cider girl and still Very pleased. They come in cute mason jars that I save to put other things in, and there's no limit. As for the tater tot nachos (or the tachos as I call them) they come with the a choice of either vegan or dairy cheese and my boyfriend ate every last one of them and did not share. That happened on BOTH days lol so I knew without a doubt they had to be delicious. This place is awesome! It's pretty tiny, as is the parking lot, so if you don't slow down it's really easy to drive right by. It doesn't help that the sign for it isn't lit and not above the storefront. The inside is small and basic, diner type booths and a long bar to sit at. The menu for beers on tap is just as big as the combinations of grilled cheese to choose from. Besides tap, there are plenty of cans to choose from. I have yet to eat a grilled cheese there that I haven't liked. So far I've had a philly cheese type grilled cheese, the peruvian chicken special, and portabello mushroom. Additionally, you can get tater tots or tatchos, which is essentially a pile of tater tots topped with anything you want and more. read more

The place is small with limited parking. They have seats at the counter and booths, with a lot of beers on tap with a good variety. They also have old movies playing above the bar. The food menu is limited but can not really go wrong with the items there. Went to the Spacebar to grab a drink. To my surprise they had many vegan options and many of their menu items could be veganized. I grabbed the tots and a Cheesesteak sandwich. The service was great and the food was amazing. I will definitely be returning to try all of their ciders/beers. As far as the ambiance/vibe, it was nice. As a single woman I felt safe. However, the bathrooms were gross and overdue for a deep clean. That's why I'm giving this place a 4/5 stars. If not for the restrooms it would've been 5 for sure! My boyfriend and I came here on the recommendation of several friends. Overall verdict: Great casual place for some really good grilled cheese sandwiches and beer. The tater tots are also wonderfully crispy and I found myself eating the entire basket. I have absolutely no self control when it came to the tator tots. I highly recommend ordering #4 on the menu- the grilled cheese with the granny smith apples. The apples gave it a really nice sweet taste to the meal. The cook was really nice and actually gave us a basket size of tots even though I ordered just a side since the tots arrived after my meal. The beer selection here is constantly changing so don't expect to come here twice and order the same thing. One downside is because the beer selection is constantly changing, I feel as though they run out of beer pretty quickly and can't update their menus fast enough? Not exactly sure but the 2 occasions I have been there- my boyfriend and I both tried to order two different beer and the bartender said she just tapped out of them. If it had happened once with one beer, no big deal but it happened twice for beers that both of us wanted to drink. Very cool vibe here and there are varying types of crowds that come in. Spacebar is hidden along West Broad Street in Falls Church. I feel like you would need your GPS on so you know when to turn into Spacebar. Keep in mind that the parking lot is small. We arrived just when it opened at 5pm since we thought it could get crowded. I was very stoked to try out their food. The menu was simple and straight to the point. The menu has 20 grilled cheese creations. If you don't want to try out their creations, you can make your own as well! I ordered the #10 (roast beef, grilled pepper & onion, mayo with provolone on sourdough) ($9) but customized my grilled cheese with no mayo and with wheat. My boyfriend ordered #20 as is (pulled bbq pork, crispy fried shallot, sharp cheddar on rye) ($8.75). The total bill for us was about $30. My boyfriend told me that Spacebar has amazing totchos (tots w/melted cheese and a choice of a 'stuff' topping) so we ordered that with bacon ($5.50, large). On with the food! OH man the grilled cheese was so good. In every bite not only I heard the crunch from the wheat bread, but there was always a string of cheese coming out of the sandwich. I was only able to eat half of the sandwich though but I was happy to take it home for leftovers. What about the totchos with bacon? WOW I was in love. The tots were covered with cheese and bacon. It was a Thursday night and we sat at the bar because no booths were available. Service for drinks was immediate. I got the cider and really liked it. I would get that again. I made up my own grilled cheese: Havarti, Gouda, and Cheddar cheeses with raw spinach, ham and brown mustard. It was very good but more meat to cheese ratio than I prefer; next time I would get only cheese or be more specific. Meat lovers will love it! The bread was perfectly toasted and not greasy. It was basically Awesome! I got the side of tater tots- why not? The were also perfectly cooked- crispy on the outside and soft, hot, and delicious on the inside. I tried my friend's #9 which was a whole different flavor. It had notes of sweet and savory. The place is loud and when full, hard to talk. At least it was at the bar. A booth might be better. I remember that time, I was like 19 or something and I just wanted to eat a sandwich and they wouldn't let me in because I wasn't 21 yet... The tater tot portion is hugeeee and I love how you can just add a whole bunch of toppings on there as you please. Well, the last time I came was pre-covid, so idk if they let you try all their different hot sauces in bottles, but they had so many unique ones to try the last time I was here.
