I came here for the first time on a Sunday afternoon and we had the acai bowl and the everything bagel with lox. Both were delicious and fresh. This is a wine bar and coffee house combo with a nice feel. This is in a small strip mall in the L Mesa College area. I will be back. read more

In keeping with the theme of this place, I'd call the service "Dial Up" and the food, "error 404". Placing on online order for food at an Internet cafe seems like it'd be pretty efficient. The 3 drinks, 2 bagel sandwiches, & 1 toasted bagel doesn't seem impossible to create within the 20-30 minute estimated pick-up time. But an hour and 10 minutes is apparently the max speed of their bandwidth. 35 minutes of that hour was spent waiting inside the place for our order. The food came out way before the drinks which led to all the bagels getting soggy and chewy. The coffee drinks were not what you'd expect from a place calling themselves a "cafe". Overly syruped mocha and Folgers brewed drip coffee plus a smoothie really should never take over an hour to make, no matter the situation. The overall experience here is heavily due for a system upgrade, as they're operating on version 1.8, when the current release is 14.9. read more

If anyone has patience to wait for 45 minutes for their food, then go ahead and go to this place. One of my worst experience coming here. I came in and ordered a Go Green Panini and waited for 45 minutes. I asked the girl who worked there if my panini will come out soon she said, "oh soon" and then she has the audacity to ask me if it was a chicken or go green panini. That means they totally forgot my order. What annoying was, a lady who ordered way after me got her food 10 minutes before I come to the counter and asked for my panini. I think that, if i did not asked her, they properly forgot about the order. I am so not a confrontation person but this is just the worst that I have to ask. I understand if they have a lot of order online but not when someone ordered and wait there for such a long time and did not even ask or reassure them the order will be coming out soon. Also, there were no apology for the delay or anything and gave me an oily box. I was so hungry that i got so emotional while my baby was kicking so hard in my tummy due to hunger. I really feel bad typing this but I have to tell people about my experience, If this review was ever be deleted. I am posting it again. I do give that girl a point as she did asked me if i want a bag or napkin. But still, I mean, was it her first day of the job to ask that question. Good place to work! Was dead when we went. They have a stage for poetry and music that looks like it could be fun to check out those events. Remote workers would like this. They have smoothies and coffee. The kombucha on tap was good. Ordered a sugar free vanilla oat milk latte that was NOT good. Too sweet? I think they must have used 42 pumps of syrup or something. Frustrating first experience here, and it will probably be the last. We ordered online at 10am and the estimate was 20-30 minutes. We didn't receive our food for an hour and ten minutes after ordering (around 11:10). I understand places are short-staffed right now, but the business should make decisions about how to take orders (don't take them online if they will overwhelm staff), how large of a menu to have (have more than one blender if that's what's slowing things down), decide whether it is a venue/cafe/breakfast spot/açaí bowl place/wine bar/etc. Regarding the food itself, the bagel sandwiches were chewy because they sat for too long before given to us. read more

I liked SpaceBar. Baird & Silva invited me one Saturday to hear them play. I had never been there before. I didn't know if it was a bar, a restaurant or coffee house, so I called and asked. It was a Cafe. When a venue offers free entertainment proper upbringing dictates you support that venue by buying food or drinks from them. My friend and I had already eaten a little earlier but as I stated proper upbringing dictates that we buy something. My friend was interested in the parmesan fries. I was interested in the ham and cheese sandwich. Wasn't thrilled that said sandwich did not come with fries and my friend was less than overjoyed that his fries did not come with a sandwich. I had the cook cut my sandwich in half and the problem was solved. My sandwich was Ok. I felt that for 6 bucks it was missing some ham, and as I previously noted, fries. The fries were Ok. The price to me suggested the yes be more special. As did the name.They were an order of fries that had parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Not bad, nothing to write home about. I will say that the glasses they served our water in were the best I've seen in an Open Mic venue. The yelp check in discount was good, The music was great. The gal that took my order was friendly and patient. She answered my questions and was very helpful. It's been a while since I came back here. I got real food this time the calamari and fry combo and a cheeseburger with fries. I also got the green monster smoothie recommended by the girl. Service was really sweet she was nice and helpful. Nice big portion of cheeseburger, fries were a bit overdone but no big deal. Calamari was really crispy and I enjoyed them. The smoothie was yummy and didn't get all weird and separated while I wasn't drinking it. The real food was better than the acai bowl I had last time. I'm not sure they know what they want to be. The people where nice but some of the freshness in the good was missing. Like when the tomatoes I have that grainy texture. There is no real parking even if you get a spot near the building they are too small and someone might swipe your car or door bang it. It's a tight fit. I am a huuuge acai bowel fan so finding a place close to home with then was awesome!! unfortunately I was disappointed. Outstanding coffee and smoothies! Food and drinks are tasty and affordable. Frank, the owner, is a great guy and the location is convenient for us. Before COVID this was the place to go for open mics and other entertainment. Staff seemed less attentive then what you would expect very odd place overall to me sort of like it was not sure what it wanted to be when it grew up. Spoke with the owner on he phone. He accused me of lying that I got sick and accused me of intentionally getting dairy to make myself sick. I told him I just wanted a refund. He was very uncooperative and hung up. I called back a bit later and told him again how terrible the experience was, especially when his first employee hung up when I was throwing up and just wanted a refund. When he heard his employee hung up on me, he changed his tune and said I could come get a refund. When I got to the store, he told me to whisper because he was hosting some kind of meeting. Wtf?! Horrible experience! A friend and I went there for some coffee and to study because we had heard it was a pretty cool place... "Cool" is obviously very subjective. I make it a habit to try out new cafes around SD and this was the worst. The nachos I ordered were cold and when they took it back into the kitchen to reheat them it took 20 mins. I had to walk up to the counter and call them from the back to remind them about my food. The young lady at the counter didn't have much knowledge about the food on the menu or the coffees they served so we stuck with basic options to play it safe. The wifi didn't work on either of our computers and when we asked for assistance the manager told us 3 different passwords. Eventually we got frustrated and the manager told us our problem was that we lacked patience. He then spent 20 mins trying to troubleshoot on our computers because we obviously don't know how to use them ourselves. When he couldn't figure it out he told us to reboot and be more patient. Rebooting didn't work. Since I work in the restaurant industry I can really appreciate good customer service and this place lacked it. read more

I was doing laundry at the laundromat connected to their building and needed to use a bathroom so I went here. They wouldn't let me use it without making a purchase so I had asked what was the cheapest thing they had to sell. So I was at the laundromat again but a lil hungry and knew the spacebar had at least muffins or something. Whatever they have must be better than the mat's vending machine-NOPE!! I walk in, on a beautiful day, and it was very stuffy and a bit dark-during the middle of the day. I saw they had a big (size) menu over a door that might lead to a kitchen and it had 3 items on it. I was reading it for a couple seconds and the black man, and old woman (again) working there had absolutely nothing to say to me. I walked to the other side of a make shift counter and find a much smaller menu with several more items on it and inquired about what I might get. 2 of the 3 items I wanted were not available. These people are clueless.So I just bought a bag of $1 Sunchips. The chips were fresh and tasted great! Aside from being the most unfriendly people I have seen in a business in a while their attempt to pretend to be even the slightest bit like a restaurant is an absolute joke. Maybe the woman's overly aggressive nature to promote her sophistication over others has something to do with the fact that I had seen 1 person in there on both occasions I had been there. This is such a great place to sit and read or just surf the internet. The owners, Marvin and Patricia are some really great down to earth people and are very knowledgeable about the teas and coffees they sell. The prices are very reasonable and although I didn't try their numerous sandwiches, I will be sure to go back after my workout at 24 Hour Fitness nearby. I bought a pound of El Salvador Monterey and it is not only organic but has a great rich full bodied taste, just like Marvin said it would be :) I love the atmosphere and I wish this place was around when I was in need of a place to study while I was working on my master's degree. This Place Rocks! They have a really cool comedy night on Friday Nights with an amazing dinner menu! I went with y buddy Robby and he had ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp! Never had those before, so I had to steal a few bites. The best place about this place is that there is a bunch places to plug in and work from. Then again the place has tons of room. I like going to places like the Living Room in the College Area but it is cramped and the chairs are bulky so I always feel a bit too close to the other guy next to me. I do not have that problem with@spacebar. Plenty of space! Plus Frank is really cool. He made me this amazing Green Monster Veggie Smoothy that was really cool. My new favorite workspace!!! Frank and Patricia are amazing but the secret behind this seemingly small coffee shop and Internet Cafe is that their Customer service, food and menu quality and atmosphere is stellar. I'm impressed every time I go to SpaceBar. From their amazing BLT, to Lamb chops, steak Salad...even their wings. Great Draft beers and a wonderful selection of choice Wines.
