I visited Irene at Spade Beauty Lounge today after 7 months of no pedicure and no manicure (thanks COVID). My asthma and weak immune system has kept me away from getting my usual mani pedi, facials, massages hair cuts etc since the lockdown started in March. I was very nervous about getting my first mani/pedi after being so careful over the last few months. Could not think of a better place to go for someone like me than Spade Beauty Lounge. Irene was great, she gave me a wonderful, relaxing manicure and pedicure. I felt safe the entire time- it was clean and she used precautions (mask, barrier, open windows and doors etc). I usually go to a large nail salon in Mission Valley- I loved the smaller size and privacy of SBL. I was also surprised at how reasonable the prices were, they were the same as the larger salon I used to go to. The experience was so relaxing, can't believe I have lived so close to this hidden gem and never gone. I love coming here for two reasons (1) the location (close to work so I can end my work week on a positive note when needed) and Irene Para--a beautician who does mani-pedis, facials and waxing. I started going to Irene upon recommendation from a long-time dear friend two years ago, and I couldn't be happier. Irene does a wonderful job on my pedi from start to finish--from the comfortable (and always operational) spa chair (complete with massage options) and warm tub water--to the detail she spends working on my feet--to the stress relieving sugar scrub rub on my shins and feet--to the warm, eucalyptus scented towel wrap--to the colorful shiny polish on my toes. Irene's manicures are equally awesome, from the cleansing of old polish and cuticle trim to the lotion massage on my tired hands, finishing with a superb shellac polish on my natural nails that can last up to three weeks without peeling. Nail care: this is not a "factory" setup, but personal attention in a boutique salon from an expert who takes her time to do safe, clean and beautiful manicures and pedicures. (I've already sent 2 people to Irene for total nail care and they are thrilled.) The foot massages Irene gives are wonderful and she sets a relaxed, yet upbeat atmosphere that's just perfect. Location: wonderfully located opposite the golf course in Mission Valley and west of Fashion Valley Mall, there is plenty of parking in both front and back of the building. I recommend parking in back since the salon faces that direction and there's always ample parking.
