with one small caveat…read more Tap Yard is hands down one of my favorite spots downtown. The bar itself is beautiful, with a fun, laid-back atmosphere and great music that always sets the vibe. The staff and service are amazing friendly, & attentive. They don't serve food directly, but they always have food trucks, which honestly makes it even better. They're super active on Instagram and regularly post their food truck calendar, so you always know who's serving what and when. My absolute favorite food truck that comes through is Brahma never disappoints. The drink selection is top tier with a wide variety of beers from different distilleries, so there's something for everyone. My go-to drinks are the Michelada with the spicy cucumber mix (so good), The Lady Marmalade, and Dark Horse is also a solid choice. Tap Yard also has an outdoor patio, karaoke nights, and live bands, which makes it such a fun place whether you're going out with friends or just trying to unwind. The only downside for me is that it isn't strictly 21+. Since there's a playground in the back patio, some adults bring their kids, and personally, I'm there to relax and have fun--not listen to screaming children. If you're looking for great drinks, a fun crowd, awesome music, and consistently good vibes, Tap Yard is definitely worth checking out.

Never knew Tulare had a county fair. We came into town from Los Angeles for a quick day road trip…read moreso my husband's Grandmother can visit her the town she was born. We drove around, checked out a couple areas, and on our way out of town happened to come across the fair after dinner. We love a good spontaneous adventure and ending our little road trip at the fair sounded like the perfect idea. We purchased our tickets and parking pass online which was a quick and easy process. Glad we opted for that because the lines for ticket sales were ridiculously long. The fair was larger than what I had expected. Tons of rides and games. I was impressed with the number of kiosks available for purchasing ride/game wristbands. The kiosks were in multiple locations which made it a lot smoother to purchase. We watched my son enjoy a couple rides, we walked the entire space, and picked up some lemonades for the road on our way out. Looks like the party grows as the night goes on. Bands play, beer flows, and dancing commences. We got there a little too late and missed some vendors and didn't get a chance to see any of the animals. But coming across the fair certainly was a pleasant surprise for this trip.

I'll go ahead and Yelp review the Tulare fair just for the heck of it…read more This is an event I attend annually and look forward to, however this year was a bit awkward and was not enjoyable. The food was meh, the games and rides had to be purchased with a prepaid game card instead of just cash and tickets. It sucked the fun and tradition right out of it for me and to top it off the hours of operation were all out of whack. It's hard to tell if I'll come back next year or ever.

The Stag isn't just a bar -- it's a living, breathing paradox wrapped in simplicity and nostalgia…read more A sanctuary for the sunburned and the soul-weary, sitting square in the heart of Exeter like a shrine to simpler sins. The sign, half invitation, half dare: Enter if you're thirsty for something that isn't on the menu of life. Inside, the air is thick with laughter, cheap perfume, and the musk of memory. The wood is old, the stools are crooked, and the light is low enough to make everyone look like the best version of themselves. You can feel the ghosts here -- drifters, dreamers, field hands, maybe even a few saints who took a wrong turn. They all linger in the hum of the jukebox. Ah, the jukebox -- electronic altar of heartbreak. It glows on the wall like an electric confession booth, playing Merle, Patsy, and Johnny for the price of a few credits and a little piece of your heart. Each song unfurls like a slow whiskey burn -- sweet, sad, and just a bit dangerous. For a few minutes, everyone in the room is part of the same melody, the same ache. And behind the bar -- the real magic. The women who run this joint aren't just bartenders; they're high priestesses of the pour, keepers of secrets, and therapists with better lighting. They don't just serve drinks -- they dispense absolution one glass at a time. They smile like they've seen it all and still find the world worth laughing at. Their pours are generous, their eyes sharp, and their patience mythological. The Stag isn't polished, and thank the gods for that. It's honest. It's human. It's the kind of place where time stretches, stories spill, and strangers become drinking buddies before the song ends. When you finally pull the door (real hard) and step into the cool Exeter night, the stars feel closer somehow. You can still hear the jukebox faintly -- one last chorus chasing you into the dark. And you know, deep down, that The Stag isn't just a bar. It's a reminder. A reminder that imperfection is beautiful, whiskey is holy, and that the best kind of truth usually comes from a woman with a towel over her shoulder and a grin that says, "Another round?"
