I hate saying anything. This is my local place. I enjoy going there MOST of the time. but there is definitely an A and B cooking staff. We went there Tuesday night for dinner. I asked for a medium Swiss burger. It was bloody and cold. My wife got fish and chips. She didn't tell me until we got home that the fish was terrible. Dried out, and over cooked. My cup of chili was room temperature. The fries were excellent but that's really about it. I don't think I'm going back there during the week anymore. I really love this place. Staff is always friendly and I am a sucker for their small plates. The Mac and cheese is really good! Carry out is sometimes hit or miss but ever since they put in the carry out area I feel like it has gotten a lot better! What a great restaurant! Why haven't I been here sooner?! Everything about our experience was great (early Jan. 2018). I don't remember exactly what others at my table got but I do remember they really enjoyed it. I got the Ghostly Inferno Burger and a beer. I was afraid the burger was going to be burning hot but it wasn't and I looooved it. I don't like super hot food so this was surprising perfect in terms of heat; a nice heat toward the throat but the relish, tomato and lettuce gave it a little coolness. And the Piedmont beef was amazing with a great rub. Fries can be a nice side statement, but these stood out strongly on their own: crisp, fresh, and flavorful. read more

While shopping in White Lake my Aunt and I decided to stop in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The plaza is very dumpy... doesn't seem well taken care of but once you enter Sparkies you're pleasantly surprised how nice it is! It's decorated very nice, and the ambiance is casual but fun. We were seated without a wait, we both ordered the chicken noodle soup which was very good. I had a grilled chicken Cobb salad, I would have it everyday if I could. Perfect place for lunch and I would love to go back for dinner & try different items on the menu. I placed a to-go order for my Hubby and ordered the Ruben Egg Rolls, he said they were excellent. Great gem!! Out visiting the area and decided we all were hungry so Yelp'd what was available on Labor Day....so glad we stopped in. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu had a great variety so deciding what to eat was difficult. I chose the cheesesteak sandwich, hubby had the turkey ciabatta and others had cheeseburgers. All was tasty! We visited with family and man, I wish there were a Sparkies K&B in the DFW area. I had the Blackened Sirloin Pasta and the steak was cooked perfectly, medium as asked, and the pasta had a little spice to it (YUM!). My 4 year old had the kids spaghetti and ate almost all of it. My husband went for the Black and Blue Burger. He couldn't stop raving about it. Whatever SK&B is doing, needs to continue doing what they are doing. read more

If you glance at the menu you think this place might be amazing. It's a scratch kitchen (LOVE) and the decor is warm and friendly. It was pretty busy when we came in and we were sat promptly. The hostess and waitress were friendly. The menu is vast with a lot of options, but it seems like the chef makes a delicious dish, then adds something that totally doesn't match. Very try hard to be trendy but doesn't hit the mark. Their mac and cheese would be great, except that they top it with gorgonzola. Made the whole thing taste sour and terrible. I like gorgonzola, just not on mac and cheese. I also had the reuben egg rolls and they were totally bland and the remoulade to dip didn't mesh well at all. The maryland crab soup wasn't good either. It tasted bland, I saw no visible crab and it was $5 a cup. My whole meal was a huge disappointment. My husband had the nachos and said they were "ok". We won't be back, for the prices the food should have been MUCH better. read more

Super good food went there for valentine's day and our server was amazing super fast and came to us the perfect amount of times.

We went in expecting a decent burger and ending up having a much better experience. We ordered the steak and cake and the makers mark salmon. Both were delivered quickly and very flavorful. The prices were decent and the atmosphere was modern and clean. My only issue was that the woman's bathroom was not very tidy but after I mentioned this to our waitress it was cleaned immediately. I've visited sparkies around four times in the span of living in the area and each time i've experienced different encounters. Throughout each encounter the staff has been amazing, definitely top-tier service! I typically go around dinner time and even though Sparkies is usually packed around that time they don't neglect you. I recently found out that I am allergic to tree nuts so when I went in and asked the waitress about it she was very kind and gave me a few alternative options within the category of meals that I was looking for. Came here on Saturday night with the date, and we had a really good time! I really didn't expect to like it this much, and I'm glad we came here. Walking in, the place is really well decorated considering it's in a strip mall. I didn't have high expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it here. Our server was awesome, and we really enjoyed our food. I stuck with the spinach and artichoke dip, while the date had the Bleu cheese steak with veggies and mashed potatoes. He LOVED his food, and wants to go back as well. Our drinks were delicious, and my alcoholic drink was made with fresh strawberries! We sat at the bar and had a great lunch. We really like the ambience, service, value for your money, and the food was good. My son loved the chicken tenders and fries. He said they were super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My husband and I had their lunch special of 1/2 sandwich, salad, and soup for $8.99. I had the cheddar soup and he had the chili and both were delicious. The honey poppyseed dressing is absolutely amazing. We had the chicken salad sandwich which I didn't really care for. If you're looking for good carry-out, save yourself the money and effort. Dining in is good and I've never been disappointed, but that was also before covid. I have ordered from here a few times for carry out and I think this was my last. Nachos grande as an entree is simply a handful of chips, a few cubes of tomatoes and maybe a sprinkle of cheese. Certainly nowhere near worth $12 for. No protein at all on it. Burgers are decent, but they don't cook them to what you request. They're on the rare side and crumble apart. I also wish they used more paper containers for carry out than the very durable, oversized plastic containers they use. I do like that they give a little cup of ice cream with every kids meal. That's a nice touch. I've also been happy with the attitudes of the staff. Can't wait for the nonsense of covid to end so we can dine out here again in peace. read more

Whenever I visit any type of "bar and grill" scene, I opt to order baby back ribs, if available. I find that this is a good test of culinary competency, because it's pretty hard to screw up ribs. At Sparkies, they managed it. The ribs I received were the most boring, bland, tasteless chunks of meat I've ever had the displeasure of putting into my mouth. It was as though they weren't seasoned or smoked, just cooked and slathered in a generic-tasting sauce. They didn't have that spicy kick to them that baby back ribs are supposed to have. The apples, fries and slaw were all fine. The ribs themselves were disappointing, and left feeling like I wasted nearly fifteen dollars on half a rack. I can't imagine my disapproval if I spent almost twenty on a complete slab. My husband ordered fish and chips, and my mother ordered pot roast. About his fish, husband said, "Not the best I've ever had, but not the worst." When asked what he would rate them out of five, he said, "Eh, three and a half." My mother said her pot roast tasted fine, but it was covered with too many onions and only a couple of carrots. She would have preferred more. I had a taste of both of their dishes. As they said, not terrible... but not great. Fish: crunchy, but a little dry. Pot roast, really heavy on onions. For me this isn't a problem, because I love onions. For some it might be a bit much. There are roasted onions AND fried onions in it. All together, I'd say this place is "meh". Not the worst I've ever had, but they could do better. Especially with those ribs, which I would never order from this place again. read more

Just had a terrible experience at Sparkies tonight. It's my 18 year old sons favorite burger in the area so we went there tonight. He goes all the time and gets carry out weekly from there. Got the Joey Burger and was made wrong without BBQ sauce so he was looking closely at it and saw a big hair. We sent it back they made a new one but then did not comp the burger. The waitress was nice but clearly in a bad situation and then the very RUDE young male manager came over and said no we made you a new one so we are not comping your burger. And I said we won't be back and he said ok that's fine. We were weekly regulars and not comping $13 burger when you made it wrong and had a big hair it it cost you our business. We will never be back. And to the owner your manager needs lessons on customer service or to get a job where he does not speak to your customers! read more

I was looking for a place to meet friends for dinner and sparkies had a good review so we tried it out. Food and wait staff were excellent! Very reasonably priced. It is really hard to find a great gluten free meal at restaurants. I am a regular at Sparkies. Today I tried something new. GF Buffalo Chicken Pizza. As a foodie it is not easy to impress me. Who ever was cooking tonight knocked it out of the park. Thank you! It very well might be the best GF pizza I have ever had. Before I begin, it's important to know that I'm not some negative jerk that thrives on picking apart every dining situation. On the contrary, I'm a former server/bartender (14-15ish years in the industry) that is far more likely to find the positive situations in life. Bar Experience: One of the bartenders was slow, rude, and had poor mixing skills. Host Stand Experience: The head host/manager bizarrely & rudely insisted on visually seeing our entire party (a 4 top) prior to seating us, despite our party of 4 being within the gathering of people in the waiting area a mere 2 feet away. Server Experience: Unfriendly, rushed, and emotionally disconnected. Food Experience: Kitchen timing was fine, but this was some sub par food. Nothing special. Over priced. Environment Experience: Poor acoustics with a sound reflecting (as opposed to a sound absorbing) ceiling & HVAC blowing like we were in a giant tin can. Plus, the tables are cramped. Elbow in my side? Other diner's purse whacking my head? No thanks. Overall, my group had high hopes for this place, and this first impression was a total let down. read more

We've been here several times and tried all kinds of things on their menu. The samplin' platter is a win and I love the chicken strips. Potato scraps are interesting and also delicious. I'm also a fan of their seasonal chicken salad, something about the pecans and cranberries just feels lighter and is great during a crappy Michigan winter. We've also tried the Maryland Club, we weren't about all the meat or friend chicken, but our fault for not reading the menu more closely. We tried the steak, steak salad, and burgers while we were there with my stepkiddos, everything was very good except the steak on the salad, it was a little chewy. There is a full bar and decent beer selection, so Sparkies is a solid choice. It's located in a strip mall so it's easy to wonder if it's any good. The place is newly remodeled, I don't find it cold at all. The waitstaff is also very friendly and the right amount of attentive. Try not to get a seat near the back and avoid the high tops. The kitchen is a bit loud and the high tops feel like a perch, not a table, especially with four people. read more
