Great place for a porterhouse which was perfectly cooked. Owner greets you at the door and is very friendly. The main dining area is very cozy and low lit - loved the ambiance of this place. Was a great dinner and overall experience would recommend. Yea it is a bit pricey, but its one of the only steakhouses in the area in a gorgeous building and area by piermont so supply and demand! Would go back and eat!!!

Food was perfect steak cooked with perfectly, everyone went above and beyond to make sure Our visit was completely enjoyable .Most steak houses that are good are all about the same as quality of food and preparation that goes into it.Which separates Sparkill Steakhouse is the Ambiance and the staff. You cannot go wrong if you are in the area. This is a excellent choice

I was just here very recently with my husband . I needed to leave a review. The food here was fabulous! The service and everything ! I really want to say thank you to the staff for the excellent dining experience. The food, servers and ambiance all get 5 stars!!! Thank you thank you!!! Main courses we ordered the porterhouse steak for 2 it was cooked perfectly, and the twin lobster tails . I am going to leave a couple comments which could make it even better . I'm not complaining!. Just suggestions..., 1. Coat check. I don't know if you don't have one and it was taken away due to a past negative experience ?? 2. When dinner comes to the table the server should be present so the food doesn't get "auctioned off"and it is placed at the appropriate person. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family!

Extremely underwhelming and very expensive, definitely wouldn't go back there is much better steakhouses in NJ that taste better and are cheaper, I got 2 steaks that had no flavor and was still cold in the middle, the service wasn't good and they weren't even busy. The inside is very nice and cozy and is very well designed.

Happy Valentine's. Day. This is for anyone searching Yelp for a review of Sparkill Steakhouse for Valentine's Day Dinner. I'll try and keep this short and sweet. A year ago on Valentine's Day, we decided to finally try this place. And I know what you're thinking it's Valentine's Day. It's a fancy restaurant. Yes there's most likely a prefix dinner menu. Yes there was and we were completely prepared for it. What we weren't prepared for was the fine print of the pre-fixed 20% tip. Let me tell you, I've seen many things in my life, but I've never been handed a bill with the tip and total already written by the staff for their 20% tip. Probably the most appalling thing I've ever seen in the restaurant business. The fine print should've said "On Valentine's Day all our class goes out the window" As for the food it was nothing special and they stood over us and watched us like hawks the entire meal which was very uncomfortable.

Porterhouse for two, creamed spinach, hand cut French fries

My husband and I dined this evening for the first time at Sparkill Steakhouse. It was nothing short of perfection. I would easily compare this restaurant to any of the top steak specialty restaurants and prefer this one. Each item ordered was excellent from the Long Island oysters, porterhouse for two, selected sides and dessert. The wait staff was courteous, attentive, and elegant. Thank you for a lovely evening and great experience.

fancy and pricey steakhouse with great ambiance. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and was finally able to go. got last minute reservations with no trouble on a Friday night. the place is huge and was decked out for Christmas. the dining areas are gorgeous and theres even a fireplace in one of the rooms. we started with the lobster bisque which was pretty good but super heavy and a large portion. i wish i didnt finish the whole thing because i was really full by the time my dinner arrived. steaks were tasty and cooked well. FYI none of their dishes come with sides. you need to order them separately and they only come family style which is kind of annoying. we got the creamed spinach and the macaroni and cheese. huge portions but really tasty and made for excellent leftovers. would definitely visit again.

I've been here about 4 times. Every time I leave I say I'm not coming back. But I go back. This place is lackluster There's a ton of waitstaff but nobody is really paying attention to the tables. Tonight we were the only ones on the restaurant at 5:15 and there still was confusion as to who's appetizer belonged to who. The drinks were delicious, the shrimp disgusting, steak was delicious and the service boring. We got pasta bolognese which was good. Ok bottom line. Nothing special about this place. I don't care for the outdated decor. This time I'm not going back!

Foremost, the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere with lots of greenery and elegant lighting. Our waiter provided top tier service throughout the night. The appetizers we ordered were perfect shareable bites and so delicious. The homemade focaccia was light and crispy. Perfectly toasted! This comes at the start of your meal for all of the tables. I loved the fried calamari, burrata and prosciutto, and the pear salad. I was most intrigued with the mussel flatbread appetizer. It was topped with a light buttery sauce and garlic. Very good! The meatballs were also a standout for me. In addition to an amazing start to my meal, I loved the cocktail options. From various spritz choices to Negronis, you can tell the cocktail menu was carefully crafted. Verana is known for the best chicken parmigiana. Not only did this dish deliver, but the portion size was unreal. Some of my dining party finished it. However, I have amazing leftovers for today. You have an option to get a side of homemade pasta. I went with the spaghetti. All pasta dishes are made from scratch. Other honorable mentions include the pasta normica and bolognese. Moving on to the sweet dessert options! The cappuccino's had a nice and bold coffee flavor. The pistachio gelato and apple tart were music to my ears! So fresh and really hits any sweet tooth. The tiramisu had a nice pairing of coffee flavor and cinnamon. My first dining experience at Verana will definitely not be my last. I can't stop talking about all of the incredible dishes that my family and I tried. Thank you Verana for an incredible meal!

There's a small parking lot in the rear and a bigger lot across the street, although both can fill up when the restaurant gets busy. This place gets absolutely packed and I think it's simply because the food is good. It's not cheap -- in fact, some prices will make you do a double take (yes, olives for $16). Wine by the glass is steep too. That said, some things feel like a much better value. Our "half" pitcher of sangria basically came in a full-sized pitcher filled more than halfway and tasted great. Plenty for two. A lot of the menu is also easily shareable. We split the beet salad and it was big... enough for a couple. Fresh, flavorful and satisfying. Then we shared the paella Valenciana, another huge portion loaded with fatty chorizo, chicken, shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels in flavorful saffron rice. Really balanced ratio of seafood, meat and rice instead of just being a giant pile of filler. Btw -- it gets friggin loud in here. Families with kids, couples, groups of friends, older folks... the whole place was buzzing. Pretty wild atmosphere. It's also very casual for a place serving food at these prices -- servers walking around in jeans, energetic vibe, packed tables everywhere. Service was a little meh. Adequate, but nothing friendly. I'm also not a fan of places where the waiter clears appetizer plates but deliberately leaves the dirty fork sitting on the table for the next course. Bleh. Overall though, the food is legitimately very good. Expect a loud, busy dinner with strong portions, tasty sangria, a specials menu without prices and a 3% credit card fee added at the end.
